Such a cool place!!we had pizza at dominos (close by) and then went there for a game night! they have so many different games (boards and cards), we had a wonderful time.we also had an apple desert and apple cider, both delicious.we’ll definitely be back :) -

Such a great chill time with friends! What felt like a hundred games to choose from for only a $10 gaming fee (we arrived around 1:30/2PM and were told we could play until closing at 11PM).Chai latte was great! Staff was very kind and helpful, even suggesting a game that became addicting to us quite fast.Would 1000% return! -

An only one-of-its-kind board game cafe in the upper east side and super affordable. You can spend hours of happy, device-free time here discovering new games or playing your favorites. You’ll find multiple of everything from Catan and Sequence and Battleship to obscure games like “Marrying Mr. Darcy.” 😛Vibe is very nice and fun.. staff is super cool and helpful.Menu has more food options than the details available on Google — and the food is good for a and they have beers on tap as well.PRO TIP: Bring your layers because the place has so many people coming and going constantly, it gets chilly even inside! -

I love this place and even went here for my birthday this year. It’s large for a city game cafe with a lot of options of games and a nice little snack selection. I always just milk and cookies or bring my own but other people order all kinds of things. It can be a bit loud or quiet and has 3 single person bathrooms. -

On todays screen driven world, the concept of this place is great: come in, grab a real world good old fashioned board or card game and play away with your family and friends. Hex and Co also offers a basic food and drinks menu. There is a flat rate fee to start and then you can pick any one of the hundreds of games, there is no time limit. Restrooms are on site. One thing to remember is that most of these games take time to setup and to learn the rules so kids may need a lot of patients to actually enjoy their time there. In addition some boxes may have just a quick guide inside the box so you may need to find a more comprehensive resource before you can enjoy the games. Play away! -

Fun! Fun! Fun. They have any board game you can think of. Many I never heard of! Cool atmosphere and they make a mean old fashioned. You can order food and drinks while you play. We played Scrabble and Yahtzee. 10 bucks a person. Hex is located at 1462 1st. ( one the corner 1st Ave and 76 St) in NYC. -
Review 7 (2021-10-05 - Rating: 5)
My boyfriend brought me here cause this is where he spends most of his time with friends, and it was such a fun experience. So many games to choose from, new and old. The vibe was fun and chill. The selection of food was regular. But not bad. And who doesn’t like drinking a good Delirium while playing some board games with friends! -
Review 8 (2024-10-02 - Rating: 4)
Went there to play some board games. It’s 15$ per person for 3/4 hrs. Good atmosphere -
Review 9 (2024-03-15 - Rating: 5)
We stayed for a few hours playing Splendor Duel. They have a rather large collection of games to play and its easy to reserve a table. We paid 10 bucks each to play as long as we wanted. They have a good drinks menu, but the food menu could use a revamp. -
Review 10 (2024-03-02 - Rating: 5)
I use to work in the area and came here after work for boardgames, drinks, and to hang with friends.Still love to visit the store, especially after I heard they were unionized. The manager and workers were always super helpful and polite.Highly recommend the store as long as the owners keep supporting their union! -
Review 11 (2023-04-16 - Rating: 5)
Fun, fun, fun and more fun! Such a great activity to do with some friends or a date night and the vibe in there was fantastic! The hostess was super nice and informative and the drinks were pretty great! The games were a little all over the place and missing some pieces but that’s to be expected in a board game bar! -
Review 12 (2024-07-14 - Rating: 5)
Extremely grateful for the friendly team here. The thoughtful, attentive and conscientious baristas make this place a true gem in the upper east side. -
Review 13 (2021-10-30 - Rating: 5)
The whole crew on staff is awesome. The selection of games you have at your disposal is… innumerable. You will find something to play and enjoy, even if you have to fish for a while. The games are categorized by the store, so if you’re looking for two player games for example, they are clearly marked in a specific area. They offer finger food and some other small plates. Drinks are a good selection for a gaming environment, can’t go wrong with a few glasses of wine. The seating arrangements are excellent in my opinion, you aren’t squished into other groups and everyone there was having what seemed like a great time enjoying the games with their friends/families company. They also have a really good selection of games for sale! I ended up playing and buying Odin’s Raven which is a faster paced two player game, which was a recommendation from the staff. Unfortunately I forgot the staff members name, but he welcomed us warmly as first timers and helped us with everything during our stay.Overall, will return soon to try more games and recommend this location to anyone. -

Review 17 (2024-01-25 - Rating: 5)
Fantastic place for friends, family, and first dates. Pretty sure all were going on as I stopped in to but a game called The Mind which I couldn’t find online but which they had in stock for only $16 (a very good price). I’d like to come back soon. -
Review 18 (2022-04-29 - Rating: 5)
Love coming in and browsing through the board games. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always feel welcomed to there. -
Review 19 (2024-11-12 - Rating: 5)
My buddy and I class this joint up by playing BattleTech here weekly. But seriously, the burger is surprisingly very good! Always an interesting selection of draft beers, too. As 40-year-old men, its great to have a place like this where we can nerd out over toy robots away from our wiener families. -
Review 20 (2019-12-08 - Rating: 5)
Such a cool spot! We spent a few hours playing here on a Saturday playing games. The selection is huge, and the $10 cover charge was well worth it. The coffee was great too. We would definitely come back here. It was a lot of fun and great to try out new games. -
Review 21 (2020-02-11 - Rating: 5)
Went on a Saturday night to play D&D. It was crowded with a friendly atmosphere. The staff is excellent and probably a big reason for the atmosphere. The customers appeared to be a mix of families, college students, and adults. The food is very good with prices typical of the area. The Brooklyn Roast coffee is excellent. -
Review 22 (2024-10-02 - Rating: 4)
I came here with some friends to hang out and play games. It was pretty fun. -
Review 23 (2023-03-14 - Rating: 5)
Great place for drinks and games, not so much for food... tried four items, none were great. Awesome selection of board and card games, beers on tap and in bottle, as well as some cocktails. -
Review 24 (2022-06-04 - Rating: 5)
I went there with my best friend two months ago and it was the best experience that I’ve ever had. There’s so many varieties of board games, card games and etc. Great place to hangout with your friends or to relax meanwhile reading or just drinking your coffee/tea whatever. They’re food and drinks are also a plus! :) -
Review 25 (2024-11-20 - Rating: 5)
Great place to go play games or purchase them. They have a solid selection. Food is fine, but you come for the games! -
Review 26 (2020-08-27 - Rating: 5)
I wish I had known about this place before the pandemic. All the games you would ever want to play or purchase, incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Nice selection of drinks and bites, though of course I couldnt sample any of it right now. In the before times it must have been so fun to play a game of Catan or MTG here with friends, sipping on an IPA... I just really hope they can stay afloat til that can happen again. -
Review 27 (2022-10-09 - Rating: 5)
One of the coolest places to hang out and play board games in the city on a Friday night. (Late Post: Visited on 9/30/22)For a change from our typical happy hour at a random bar, my friends and I decided to check out Hex and play Monopoly Deal. We met around 7ish and stayed until 11. We didnt notice the time pass. It was so much fun. A different experience. The staff were all very nice and helpful. We never felt rushed or pushed to order drinks or food.Theres a cozy familiarity vibe among the customers and staff. It felt like you were just playing at someones house. Sarah, our barista, was very friendly and kind. She said she used to come and play at Hex for 8 months before joining their staff. Everyone was just very welcoming and they gave out cookies around closing time.Well definitely keep coming back. Its a nice place for us lawyers to unwind after a long work week... We also saw some doctors playing at another table. I think its a good relaxation alternative to the usual drinking in loud bars weekend.Ready for game night? -
Review 28 (2021-02-14 - Rating: 5)
Love this place! Stumbled upon it today while walking around the neighborhood. Stopped in & bought a quick game. The bartender recommended a beer & cocktail which were *fantastic*. Servers were very strict on COVID-19 protocol which we very much appreciated. Had the cauliflower bahn mi which was flavorful. 12/10 recommend to others if you want some good drinks & tasty food at a good price. Added to our favorites list! -
Review 29 (2019-12-13 - Rating: 5)
A great board game cafe in NYC! For NY where space is tight, Hex & Company has a decent amount of space and tables. The environment is cozy and they have a great selection of board games! To note:- $10 cover fee for walk in- $15 cover fee to make reservations- Food isn’t restaurant high quality, but it contributes to the cozy and casual vibes of a board game cafe, which I appreciate.- Background music was nice. It wasn’t distracting and it added to the nice vibes.Staff is friendly!Overall, it’s a great place to come with a group of friends for a fun game night. -
Review 30 (2022-11-16 - Rating: 4)
This is a really fun place to spend some time with friends or the kids. They carry a lot of games (classic ones and tubs i have never seen before). Just go there and try a new game. If you like it, you might be able to buy it (a new box) -
Review 31 (2023-05-20 - Rating: 4)
There are plenty of board games available if you & your company want to play a game or two. The coffee was great. There are plenty of tables and seating options. -
Review 32 (2024-11-03 - Rating: 5)
I always head here with my best dudes to play d&d. Great staff, great food and a lovely environment for having fun. -
Review 33 (2022-08-07 - Rating: 5)
They were gracious enough to accommodate us, a party of 5 with no reservation (not recommended) as the place was already crowded when we arrived. This place hosts every single boardgame you could think of, all stacked up along the walls-it was an impressive collection. The service was prompt and courteous every single time despite us ordering sandwiches, drinks, and ice cream at different intervals. I fully enjoyed their eggwich which they made the egg super fluffy 😋It did get quite rowdy at times but everyone is here for a good time! -
Review 34 (2022-03-17 - Rating: 5)
On weekends, call in advance, otherwise its a din place to board game. They have everything from Codenames to Terraforming Mars. The food is okay though. Not great, not terrible. The price for gaming is fairly reasonable. $10 per person for the whole day. -
Review 35 (2024-07-20 - Rating: 5)
Amazing service. My friends and I had an amazing time. We stayed a little after our reservation since it was too busy. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. They have every game you can think of, we played Uno, Coup, and Clue. Staff were chill, bathrooms are nice, and environmental was very peaceful. Definitely coming here again! -
Review 36 (2021-06-09 - Rating: 5)
The employees are not only hardworking but extremely cool as well! They have a great selection of games that can be overwhelming lol. But overall seeing the manager really make an effort to be part of the UES is what makes this specific place great -
Review 37 (2024-10-15 - Rating: 5)
Update: starting going to the store gaming /tcg events. The community is sooooo welcoming and friendly, especially for new players like myself.Kid friendly, good bites and drinks. Side note: they have 3 locations and been to two (east & west, havent been to union yet) appreciate it and will be back. Can you say fun and food! My friends and I love this place. To play board games, try new games and can buy games as well is a dream come true. Then menu compliments the atmosphere. And everyone is there for the same vibes.Community is awesome -

Review 39 (2021-06-22 - Rating: 5)
I really love this place a lot. I went there yesterday looking for a late night coffee place and came across hex. The moment I walked in I was taken aback by all the boardgames they have on display, and for sale! It was nice to see people play board games that late at night. I was even tempted to pick one up myself and start playing. Definitely going back. Recommended. -

Review 46 (2023-11-20 - Rating: 5)
There are 3 hex&cos in NYC. This is one of my favorites. Its not the biggest out of the 3, but its the least amount of foot traffic. Due to its space, not many people go...which makes it feel more exclusive. -

Cute spot!! Made a res to come with 4 friends on a sunday afternoon, didn’t really need to though. We played what do you meme and pick your poison, but most of the games are more strategy based board games that we are not familiar with personally, BUT it’s a DOPE spot for those!!!! Staff was friendly and helpful, food is quick bites nothing fancy. Makes for a good way to catch up with friends and maybe a date -

Review 97 (2022-07-24 - Rating: 4)
Good vibes, good drinks, good selection of diverse board games! Staff are very kind and thoughtful. Only issue is in the middle of playing games they began to play music with words. This made playing word games with my friends difficult as our seat was right near the speaker and it was quite loud. Would definitely go again probably earlier in the afternoon as the music only started playing around 6:30pm! -

Review 102 (2023-03-19 - Rating: 4)
Cute and cozy but so busy! They had a crazy waiting list so we ended up deciding to come back another time. The flipside of the long waitlist is that once youre in they dont limit your time at all! -
Review 103 (2022-02-02 - Rating: 5)
This place is a great game board cafe! ☕ Hex & Co has an incredible collection of board games 🎲 and card games 🃏 that you can play for $10 per person. They also have a fantastic selection of coffee, tea🍵, drinks 🥤, beers 🍺, and cocktails 🍹! They also serve snacks 🥨, pastries 🥐, and desserts 🍮 (on hexagon-shaped plates, living up to the name!). The staff is super nice and the place has a great ambience 🎶! I wish I came here earlier! -
Review 104 (2023-03-07 - Rating: 5)
Very fun atmosphere with a MASSIVE board game selection. Come with friends or check their website/discord (fairly active) for meetups for specific games. Service is very friendly, but often busy/understaffed. Food and drink is very unremarkable, come for the fun environment. One of the most consistent meetup places for Magic: The Gathering in manhattan -
Review 105 (2022-04-16 - Rating: 5)

Beer and board games / TCGs. Lots of magic the gathering products. Great idea for a store. The have coffee too and some random expensive snacks. -
Review 108 (2021-12-03 - Rating: 5)
Relatively good selection of games to try out for $10 a person. Staff will typically be happy to quickly go over or teach you how to play a game. Tea and appetizer selection is good. The outdoor seating area is heated very well, but it absolutely needs better windproofing to stop sudden gusts of wind from sending cards flying away. -

Im more of a regular at the West side location. This location is a bit smaller, but otherwise near identical. Great staff and vibe, same menu.I will say, the mead portion size is bigger on the West side Hex and Co. -

This place is delightful!! Really good food, not crazy pricey and good portions; wonderful staff; lots of space for you and your friends so you can bring a big group; ENDLESS games; and super clean. A highlight of the night as well: they have metal & paper straws only and lots of places to recycle :) I loved it! Ill definitely come back! -

The UES branch of this bar has a huge array of board games, a $10 cover, and a simple menu of finger food. The games are organized by number of players and depth of strategy, which makes finding particular titles challenging since the shelves dont seem to be alphabetized or otherwise sorted within categories. -

We had a reservation for a friends birthday party here. They were extremely accommodating and welcoming, and they let us know to ask if we had any questions about the games. The food was tasty, and when my friends order was undercooked, they promptly took it back, prepared a new one, and issued a refund. There were plenty of games and our large group had a great time. -

This is seriously an excellent board game cafe. For $10 per person you get all you can play boardgames (that you can borrow or bring your own) and table space. We did Dungeons and Dragons (brought our own, not sure if they have) and our DM got the table fee waived and free food for hosting us! They also have drinks which made the session interesting -
