Spent NYE here and could not have asked for a better time! Four course dinner, live music, AMAZING staff. We spent a lot of time deciding where to ring in the new year and we absolutely chose correctly! We can’t wait to go back and try a normal day. I imagine this place is awesome every day of the year!

Wow! I’m in love with this place. My husband and I are big fans of Grand Banks, and decided to try Holy Water for their Thanksgiving Prix Fixe menu tonight. The Staff: fantastic. So warm & accommodating. The Food: comforting, thoughtful, flavorful. The Atmosphere: so kitsch in the best way.We will definitely be back to experience their regular menu.. however this holiday meal was very special. We are already considering it again for next year. Also want to mention it was such a great value for all you’re getting. Very grateful for their wonderful staff today!

  • Review 3 (2024-07-06 - Rating: 5)

Very chill place with a great vibe! We ducked in after a show at the PAC on a tip from a friend and had a great time. Decor is super cute and the service was incredibly attentive- we overheard one of the servers (or the owner?) giving another girl a hiccup remedy. Lemon, bitters, and sugar - try it at home. Lots of tables and space despite the tiny entrance! Cocktails were delicious, very well balanced, and HUGE.

  • Review 4 (2023-06-22 - Rating: 5)

Very beautiful and comfortable speakeasy lounge. The fried chicken and bread pudding were outstanding! The cocktails were very good. Definitely on the repeat list for us

  • Review 5 (2023-03-22 - Rating: 5)

Such a cute and cozy spot! Under the sea meets hygge maximalist. Well-appointed, not cheesy. My friend and I just came for drinks and we’re sat in comfy leather chairs. Low ceilings and dim lighting made it feel like we were in our own little apartment. I’d love to come back and have some food. I appreciated how friendly and laid back everyone was!!

  • Review 6 (2023-05-25 - Rating: 5)

True definitions of speakeasy here. It was actually quite hard to find. Just one small sign over a door with no one outside on an empty street on a Saturday night.Door was actually unlocked and the vibe inside was great! Nice music as soon as you get in and posters and such all over the walls. Nice bar set up with good seating as well.We had a cozy spot with a little couch in the corner.Drinks were also good and quite strong.Holywater Cocktail - This was their signature, one with some fancy rum and what not. This was served Extremely fancy! Server lit fire to the lime that was on top and give something which you should dunk into the drink when you want the fire to stop after you have enough. Apparently the flavor is different depending on how much you let it burn. This drink was extremely strong! You could actually tastes to the alcohol.Hemingway Daiquiri was nice. It was not as strong and actually a little on the sweeter side. Just my kind of drink.Paddys Wallbanger was another good one. Strong and semi sweetish

Interesting, underground spot with a strong nautical theme. The space is comfortable, with several different areas, making it feel much smaller than it really is. I was able to walk in with a friend and get bar seats early on a Friday evening, and we were not disappointed. The cocktail menu is divided between New Orleans and NYC-focused or inspired drinks, and everything we tried was excellent. From the Nola list, we tried the Sazerac, Arnaud’s Special, and Holywater cocktails, and the Vesper, Penicillin, and Old Pal from the NYC list. The service was excellent, as the entire staff works together in patrolling the space to make sure nobody is kept waiting too long, which really makes the whole operation very efficient. A+

You would probably call 3 Cajuns crazy for trying a Cajun restaurant in New York!! Well Holywater did not disappoint. I usually travel with Cajun seasoning but that was not needed here. Everything was flavorful. I closed my eyes and it felt like I was at my moms dinner table. We had the BBQ shrimp, gumbo, caviar tater tots, oysters with caviar and the steak fries. The staff was awesome, the chef even came out to see how everything was and sent us home with some pralines. I definitely recommend Holywater.

  • Review 9 (2024-02-21 - Rating: 4)

Kitschy. Imagine an old school Chili’s but with a maritime theme. Pretty good drinks. Steak frites is 🔥 especially the “fries”.Skip dessert because that is 🗑️

  • Review 10 (2022-07-27 - Rating: 5)

Really excellent cocktails and atmosphere. The oysters are definitely worth snagging. I was a bit underwhelmed with the half lobster and the grits in the etouffée, so I would suggest sticking to snackier foods. Tommy was our server and was excellent and attentive.

  • Review 11 (2024-05-12 - Rating: 4)

Holywater is an amazing drinks spot! Great vibe and good cocktails. The staff was very attentive and friendly as well. The only thing that was odd, when we got the bill there was a mysterious charge. When we asked what it was they explained it’s for the tap water and that it goes to charity. They said it’s their policy and it’s explained on the bottle (which is a reused glass bottle filled with tap water, and the writing is hard to see). I admire their support for charity I just wish they had told us and were upfront about it or asked us if we wanted to contribute instead of sneaking it on the bill. It is deceitful and created a really uncomfortable situation taking away from a lovely night. So just beware of that. But it is a cool place.

  • Review 12 (2022-11-20 - Rating: 4)

I came here with my friends on a Saturday night after dinner at Buddha Bar and only stayed for one drink. I got the drink with mezcal and it was good, but sweeter than I would expect a mezcal drink to be. The place was very chill and most tables were empty. There were only a few people at the bar. I liked the vibe a lot, but definitely felt overdressed. I would recommend coming here, if you are looking for a place that’s not going to make you wait in line and has decent decor and drinks.

  • Review 13 (2024-07-06 - Rating: 5)

Amazing service, great food and drinks. My only feedback is that the temperature in the place is pretty hot. If it was more comfortable we would have stayed to have drinks after dinner.

  • Review 14 (2024-11-16 - Rating: 5)

Incredible speak easy style spot. People there were super hospitable. Drinks were awesome and creative. Food was delicious.

  • Review 15 (2024-04-07 - Rating: 5)

Great New Orleans inspired drinks. The bartenders were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Highly recommend for a date or just to hang out with friends. Good acoustics and atmosphere for having a conversation

  • Review 16 (2023-07-23 - Rating: 5)

Cocktails were amazing, and I worked at a proper cocktail bar before, so I can be picky if I want to. They were busy but we got drinks fast. Didnt get food only because I had already eaten. Atmosphere was perfect. It makes you feel youre in a bar in New Orleans.

  • Review 17 (2024-05-19 - Rating: 5)

Love this place, vibes were so cool, drinks were delicious and staff was sweet. Definitely will be back

  • Review 18 (2023-12-08 - Rating: 4)

I came here during the week for drinks with 2 coworkers. We made a reservation, but honestly don’t think we needed to. The decor is really fun and the atmosphere was very lively. The place was pretty packed when we arrived. The service was slow. We got the shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad and bread pudding a la mode. The bread pudding was decent, as was the shrimp cocktail. I didn’t try the ceasar. I ordered a mezcal negroni and….well, I’ve had better. I would try this place again, but wouldn’t recommend it for anything other than casual drinks.

  • Review 19 (2024-03-26 - Rating: 5)

Service was incredibly friendly and engaging! Drinks were fabulous!

  • Review 20 (2023-11-22 - Rating: 5)

I stumbled upon this bar in Tribeca with a friend and was impressed by the bartender, Rafael, who was so creative and intuitive with his bartending skills. He made the most unique and tasty drinks! I highly recommend this bar. The atmosphere is also really fun and chill. This will be my go-to bar in Tribeca whenever I am in the area.

  • Review 21 (2024-11-21 - Rating: 5)

Very surprisingly the best chicken I have had in NYC. Cavier taters and oysters are also to die for. Very attentive and caring manager. Music a bit loud but makes sense given it’s a bar.

  • Review 22 (2023-11-18 - Rating: 5)

It does what it set out to do really well. Great seafood, the kitsch falls between salt of the earth and something more refined and so does the menu’s ingredient choice, but it never compromises top quality of food or service.if you want sea shanty but Nyc quality, this is definitely it.

  • Review 23 (2022-05-28 - Rating: 5)

Frankly, a perfect bar. Both the cocktails and food is amazing -- light enough that you can stop by for a drinks & bite date, but also stunningly good for a whole dinner. The decor makes me want to redecorate my entire apartment.

  • Review 24 (2024-10-15 - Rating: 5)

Great spot for a fun drink in the area! Feels like summer inside

  • Review 25 (2023-01-31 - Rating: 4)

Maria was an AMAZING bartender. Chris, the manager, was an C with a capital C and four other letters all in CAPS. There were 6 people at the bar on a MONDAY night. Chris knocked my husband around intentionally at least 3x without even an “excuse me” (my friend and I followed after dinner to join them for drinks so we were standing around AT THE BAR——AT A NEAR EMPTY ESTABLISHMENT! And there was another hallway to walk around!) We have hundreds of consultants working at banks nearby and we would have brought business to this place, none of us will be back UNTIL CHRIS IS GONE.

  • Review 26 (2024-06-18 - Rating: 4)

Have had great drinks and appetizers. Service was slower than usual this last visit for no apparent reason

  • Review 27 (2024-06-27 - Rating: 4)

Good place with nice cocktails and bar food.Oysters were very good

  • Review 28 (2022-12-03 - Rating: 5)

Once you enter, you descend down a staircase with an increasingly nautical theme. At the bottom you see a bar and an assortment of tables. Without a reservation, I could just stand at the bar. I ordered their signature drink which they light on fire. New Orleans is a unique theme for a Manhattan bar and it had a distinct vibe.

  • Review 29 (2024-02-02 - Rating: 5)

What a great place!!! Wonderful atmosphere, food and people.

  • Review 30 (2022-11-02 - Rating: 5)

Walked into this Tribeca bar looking for a cocktail with character, and I think I found it.

  • Review 31 (2023-03-09 - Rating: 5)

Attention to detail in creating a distinct atmosphere is noteworthy. Feel transported in here. Multiple seating areas work perfectly for having your own space and for cocktails. Food is solid.

  • Review 32 (2022-05-29 - Rating: 5)

Didn’t eat, but the cocktails were amazing!! Decor is absolutely amazing. Overall aesthetic was great and staff was very nice. Highly recommend

  • Review 33 (2024-03-08 - Rating: 5)

Delicious gumbo. Good alcohol. Genuine vibes. Happy staff (shout to Jonathan). Is there anything else?

  • Review 34 (2024-12-19 - Rating: 5)

Authentic sophisticated vibe, I love to come back for

  • Review 35 (2024-03-22 - Rating: 5)

Ben was an amazing bartender, gave us great service and made us feel as if we were the only customers at a very packed place.

  • Review 36 (2024-07-11 - Rating: 5)

A gift to NYC! When I go to New Orleans I tell my friends about Holywater! Everything is wonderful. The atmosphere, the staff, the drinks and the food! Just go and have fun!

  • Review 37 (2022-09-23 - Rating: 4)

Cute space where more is more. Didn’t love the oysters. Mocktail options were fun! I’d focus on the apps and small plates over the mains.

  • Review 38 (2023-09-04 - Rating: 5)

Cute nautical themed bar that has plenty of seating options. The bar is down a few sets of stairs which caught me off guard. The waitresses were very nice and the drinks were amazing as well. Pretty cool place to check out

  • Review 40 (2023-07-21 - Rating: 5)

Food and Service was great. A bit expensive but worth the flavors and overall atmosphere.

  • Review 41 (2022-06-19 - Rating: 4)

Very cool spot. Underground with bar, tables and sofa areas. Interesting cocktail menu. Didn’t try the food. Definitely worth seeking it out.

  • Review 42 (2024-04-15 - Rating: 5)

Awesome spot. We did a birthday gathering here. Staff was so helpful and friendly. Our party brought more people than we anticipated and they did everything they could to accommodate us. We also brought a special cake for the birthday girl and the stay was nice enough to slice it up for us. I had a burger which was cooked perfectly the way I wanted. Definitely will return.

Great cocktails and ambiance! Need to go back there ASAP

  • Review 55 (2023-10-13 - Rating: 5)

Underground nautical themed bar with generous sizes creative cocktails and a dimly lit vibe casual vibe! The fairly frequent rattle of the subway passing nearby kind of added to the feel of being in a secret underground speakeasy somehow!

  • Review 56 (2023-12-25 - Rating: 5)

Only had time for 1 cosmopolitan, which was very good. Since there was no business but us, they decided to close.

  • Review 57 (2023-08-14 - Rating: 5)

I was on the fence with this rating, but its just so darn cool a place to not go 5. First, its deep downstairs after you find the non-descript white door that serves as entrance. Once you wind your way down, youre dropped out into an Ernest Hemingway bomb shelter meets tiki lounge. So far, so good. Its dark, but inviting, casual and fun. The menu wont wow you with fancy city cuisine, but you can get a beer and a shot, great fried chicken and various seafood medleys. There are many hidden gems in the city and if youre in the area, Id recommend this one.

  • Review 58 (2023-03-11 - Rating: 5)

The ambiance was really different, not your typical restaurant. The people that work there very courteous and professional. The food was very good. I really loved it. The only thing I would probably suggest is add more beer on the menu lol.

  • Review 59 (2023-07-14 - Rating: 4)

Cool bar cool concept. The Holywater cocktail is a bit off compared to the original in New Orleans. But 90% accurate.

  • Review 60 (2023-09-30 - Rating: 5)

Loved it, great oysters, great cocktails! Worth a visit

  • Review 61 (2023-04-12 - Rating: 5)

Great little place downstairs with a fantastic selection of cocktails. Will definitely be coming back to try the amazing looking seafood.

  • Review 62 (2023-06-09 - Rating: 4)

The food was good but they didnt have the chicken and I was looking forward to try that.

  • Review 63 (2022-08-03 - Rating: 5)

Its pricey (even for NYC standards) but excellent cocktails and a pretty nice vibe / crowd. We had a great time here. Great for a date or just catching up with friends.

  • Review 64 (2023-06-19 - Rating: 4)

Great food and atmosphere. Would return.

  • Review 65 (2022-05-24 - Rating: 4)

We didnt end up dining here because it was a little too loud for us. The decor is fun and the staff were courteous. It also had almost 2 flights of stairs to get down from the sidewalk into the restaurant.

  • Review 66 (2023-04-29 - Rating: 5)

Fantastic drinks, great service, everyone should try this bar!

  • Review 67 (2022-12-23 - Rating: 5)

Nautical themed bar with great cocktails and bites. Definitely worth a stop.

  • Review 68 (2022-06-07 - Rating: 5)

Really cool new spot with a fun, lively vibe. My cocktail (a tequila champagne mix) was excellent, and the seafarer inspired menu brings together creatively curated comfort foods with a unique flair (like tater tots with caviar). The sage aioli was a welcome take on a tired ingredient, and paired masterfully with the fries. It’s a small basement-style restaurant so the noise does build as it fills up, but the volume didn’t bother us as we were hoping for a fun scene on a Saturday night. Our server, Tommy, also deserves a shoutout: he had the best energy!

  • Review 69 (2023-05-21 - Rating: 5)

Friendly staff, great theme, good drinks!

  • Review 70 (2022-07-15 - Rating: 5)

I don’t usually leave reviews but after a friend told us about this place we tried it last night with zero expectations and were blown away by the service and amazing food, after trying the Caviar totsGrilled Caesar and bbq shrimp we just ordered everything in the starters menu… with some amazing cocktails…we shared few main dishes and can’t tell now which we loved more:Lobster fritesSpeak au poivre or the burger…So much fun and so recommended…

A cool spot that’s under the street, great place to take visitors from out of the city. Great cocktails and drinks, good music, fun vibes, even if it’s a bit small. Definitely recommend a reservation if you’re in a party of 2 or more, but this is also a place you could take a date on a whim for a fun “hey I know a cool spot” type of ending to a night.
