My wife and I drove into NYC just to go to Jacob’s Pickles and they didn’t disappoint! We started with pickled veggies and the carrots and beets were the standout. We ordered the Honey Chicken and Pickles sandwich. It was huge! There was a pile of pickles on top that hid two massive pieces of chicken. The Classic Mac and Cheese was also delicious. We split both and took some home. It was crowded inside but we didn’t feel neglected or anything. We were close to the tables on either side of us but I assume that’s normal for a restaurant in NYC. We will definitely return!

Ordered the MAPLE CHICKEN AND TOAST Perfect combo of sweet and savory. “Toast” was extra special with had an inner cinnamon layer and their HOMEMADE dark, rich, delicious maple syrup! Served all day.Only regret they dont have the FRENCH TOAST AND BANANA PUDDING on their menu anymore! (The reason why we originally came here.)Also had the MIDNIGHT MAC & CHEESESo many different layers with the cheese and sausage and eggs and jalapeño (perfect heat for us, but we like medium spicy)The more we dug in, the more delicious this dish was!Huge portions!Outside seating was a perfect way to enjoy the beautiful weather and people watching.Shout-out to our server, MICHAEL S.! Super friendly and helpful since this was our first time here!

I always heard legends about this place and the food and it truly does not disappoint. The chicken is nice and crispy, and the fried pickles are the best! I am giving it four stars only because portions are outrageously big an and drive up the prices, without mentioning all the food waste. So my advice is to get one main course and one appetizer to share for two people, maybe even three!

  • Review 4 (2024-11-05 - Rating: 5)

Loved it! We sat outside and thoroughly enjoyed our brunch. We had the fried pickles, which had a delicious crispy batter and dipping sauce to start. Then I ordered the fried chicken BLT biscuit, and since I couldn’t decide between that one and the hot chicken biscuit our waiter brought he Nashville hot sauce on the side for me, which was a fantastic addition to both my sandwich and the grits. My spouse got the sausage gravy chicken biscuit and thoroughly enjoyed his as well. I wasn’t able to finish mine since it was an absolute behemoth of a sandwich, but I was able to give the rest to our friends who lives in the city. We also got to have the pumpkin biscuit with brown butter as a treat at the end of the meal, which was sponges in texture. It wasn’t my favorite part of the meal but I would still say it was good and worth it for the amount you get.

Such a fan of this place, will absolutely return. Our waitress Arielle H (this is what the receipt said so I hope that’s right) was an absolute joy. She helped us make all of our decisions on what to order, from drinks to entrees to pickled veggies. Atmosphere was so fun, excellent music and a great vibe in the restaurant. Portions are HUGE for the price in the city. My advice is to share an entree if you have company. Also, do yourself a favor and get the pickled green beans, they’re so perfectly crunchy. 5/5 would return here.

We stumbled upon your restaurant thanks to Google Maps and could not be happier! The food was awesome - fish tacos and mac-n-cheese was TOP NOTCH, the service was awesome and your beer selection was outstanding! Im not sure about your biscuit beer for myself but I do have a friend that is getting a liquid Christmas gift...I am SO looking forward to your move to 680 Columbus as it is closer to my apartment!

If youre on the west side of Manhattan and in the mood for comfort food, Jacobs Pickles is an absolute must-visit. I could simply say it’s the best, but that wouldn’t do justice to this culinary gem. Let’s talk about the mac & cheese – its hands down the best you’ll find in the city. Creamy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, every bite is a testament to what mac & cheese should aspire to be.But it’s not just about the food; the atmosphere adds another layer to the experience. Picture a cozy, intimate setting, perfect for a Saturday night out, with classic hip-hop beats filling the air – one of my favorite genres that made the night even more special. The serving sizes are tremendous, ensuring you leave full and satisfied. And lets be honest, photos simply can’t capture the vibe or the quality of the dishes here. Whether youre in the mood for something comforting or adventurous, everything on the menu is a hit. Trust me, whatever you order, you’ll be pleasantly surprised and very happy. Jacob’s Pickles is a place that gets it right – every single time.

Hard to get reservations but if you dont manage wait is roughly between 30-45 minutes. This current time they gave me a 30 minute time but sat a group ahead of mine who were also walk-ins. Once i spoke to the hostess she corrected and gave us the next table indoors.Food is always great here. I highly recommend the bacon steak and the pickle appetizer. The dishes are all large servings and taste great.

  • Review 9 (2024-07-25 - Rating: 5)

We were in NYC visiting our daughter and she just HAD TO take us to here. I was reluctant, Im not a pickle gal - but this is the place Im now craving (please come to Boise, Idaho). The menu is vast, making the meal choice difficult, so many tempting dishes (yes, there is a huge chicken breast under all that gravy goodness)! Absolutely beautiful presentation and the portions are VERY generous. The drinks were yummy, too!

  • Review 10 (2024-10-13 - Rating: 5)

The portions are HUGE. This needs to be said multiple times. It was all really good. The chicken was cooked right and crispy, the breakfast items were delicious! Fried pickles are a must. Will definitely come back

  • Review 11 (2024-10-08 - Rating: 5)

Seriously one of the best meals i’ve had - so good we may have gone twice in a day🤭 delicious biscuits n gravy n the street corn was amazing. portions are huge & all their sandwiches are amazing. servers were very very kind as well!

  • Review 12 (2024-09-19 - Rating: 5)

Great place for brunch! Portion sizes are huge! Everything was delicious but the highlight was the French toast with fried chicken stuffed with banana pudding. The servers were very friendly, the hostess not so much.

  • Review 13 (2024-07-26 - Rating: 4)

Vintage and rustic looking atmosphere. Food is as amazing as it looks in pictures. Got the chicken Cesar salad with buttermilk fried chicken. The crotons are toast buttermilk biscuits with melted cheese. I really liked that touch. Salad was not heavy on the dressing which I prefer rather to some places where the salad swims in dressing. My cousin loved her Mac and cheese which was sweet, spicy and salty. My sister liked her blt but couldn’t pick up her sandwich cause the bread was soggy and biscuit was too soft and would fall apart. I wish service was a bit better. We waited like an hour for our food. Good thing the food made up for the slow service. Overall a good comfort food place.

  • Review 14 (2024-09-08 - Rating: 5)

Be prepared to have leftovers. Its impossible to finish your meal. The food was amazing. Need to get their sampler of pickles - their red candied beets, hot sour cukes and dilly green beans were amazing. Great seasoning and perfect acidity.Their deviled eggs were so good. We were expecting each order of deviled eggs to be two or three but it was five. May have ordered too many for three people. We got the fried chicken caesar salad, honey chicken and pickles plus a third dish that I cant remember the name to. It was a collaboration with another local business but it was a french toast with friend chicken dish. That french toast was absolutely amazing. Caesar salad was good and the honey chicken was alright - biscuit was good but I think the portion size may have been a little too daunting. The only downfall: portion are incredibly too big. But thats southern cooking for you!

  • Review 15 (2024-07-24 - Rating: 5)

Awesome Southern American food. The place is cool too, has a lot of character and a nice atmosphere. The service was great, friendly, and knowledgeable. The honey chicken biscuit sandwich was sublime—if I had to pick one food to eat for the rest of my days, it would be that. The portions are humongous, so I recommend sharing. Highly recommend!

  • Review 16 (2024-10-13 - Rating: 5)

10/10 recommendedI made a good call dropping by Jacob’s Pickles at weekend. Tried their Bone in beef ribs and it’s splendid!!! Fair pricing also. It’s weekend special so make sure you have your timing right. They also have own craft beer. Im having my seasonal drink (Halloween themed) and it’s smooth, which is my taste.

  • Review 17 (2024-10-15 - Rating: 4)

I found this restaurant on a list of best pickles in NY and visited just to try out some of their pickles with a pickle flight, thinking I’d get maybe 2-3 spears of each type. Wrong! It is so huge that I offered some to the couple sitting next to me, who actually accepted! The pickles lean a little sweet, which is not my preference, but the pickled green beans were really good. After looking at the menu, I wanted to try a biscuit sandwich, and ordered the Southern BLT. The fried chicken was really good, but the biscuit was a little bland, although baked well. The cheesy grits were perfect consistency. The only issue with this restaurant is that their portions are enormous, I felt so guilty wasting so much food, but since I was visiting I didn’t have anywhere to put leftovers.

  • Review 18 (2024-09-10 - Rating: 5)

Come hungry because the portions are huge! Everything we had was really good food. The poutine was massive. The chicken biscuit sandwich and grits was very tasty. The biscuit french toast was really good. The cornbread was great but came with 1/2 cup of butter.

  • Review 19 (2024-08-16 - Rating: 5)

Beautiful brunch! The portions are massive, so if you are thinking of sharing a plate, do it! The biscuits are perfect, pickles are tasty, bacon is crispy and the french toast is gooey goodness. Highly recommend!

  • Review 20 (2024-07-17 - Rating: 5)

We went to JP for dinner on July 13, 2024. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. Three of us had sandwiches and one had the shrimp and bacon grits salad. I was hungry when I sat down and I still could not finish my BBQ smothered pepper jack chicken sandwich. For dessert we ordered two of the bread pudding and ice cream dishes. The waiter advised us to order only one portion and we should have listened. It was a huge dessert and we did not come close to finishing it. The restaurant is terrific. We will definitely return when we visit NYC again.

  • Review 21 (2024-08-02 - Rating: 5)

As the name suggests we were hooked by their pickle options. We went during restaurant week and they allowed us to split 1 Prix Fixe lunch between the 2 of us with purchase of an appetizer. Fried pickles were great (crispy and fried as spears) and the honey chicken biscuit option was easily enough to split between us. Only complaint would be a slightly slow service (only a couple tables occupied and we had a bit of a wait between the courses). Otherwise, generous portions and generous with the pickles 🥒

  • Review 22 (2024-07-31 - Rating: 4)

Restaurant week Jul 2024. $30 3 courses. Portions are beyond generous. The deviled eggs were spicy, mustardy, fluffy goodness (too salty). But did I need 5? The chicken biscuit with sausage gravy came out not hot (and also too salty) - I hate warm food. But Lordy this might have been too much: 2 chicken breast on a cut pan biscuit (like sliced bread) with copious amounts of sausage gravy. The cheesy grit was fluffy and tasted like puréed max and cheese. I kept seeing plates of food piled up like a mountain going by to other tables. Dessert was Oreo icebox pie in a jelly canning jar - thick rich creamy goodness. Value for money. Come hungry!

  • Review 23 (2024-12-27 - Rating: 5)

One of my favorite restaurants on the Upper West Side with satisfying portions and very nice ambiance. It’s definitely a southern vibe with southern flavors. The sandwiches are so big I have to eat it with fork. My favorite is the “Honey Chicken & Pickles”. I love their deviled eggs - it’s a big satisfying portion and so delicious. (Why don’t more restaurants have deviled eggs?). They also have an extensive collection of craft beers, a lot of outdoor seating, amazing catfish tacos, and an excellent BBQ Beef Rib. The food is always prepared perfectly and the service is friendly. I often recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for the perfect lunch spot in the area.

  • Review 24 (2024-07-24 - Rating: 4)

A great spot for brunch with family and friends. Great experience to explore southern food with lot of biscuit combinations. Everything comes in huge quantity so be prepared to sleep after the meal.If you can handle heat - highly recommend hot Nashville chicken biscuits.I was mesmerized by how the server would carry all the heavy plates with food on their arm.

  • Review 25 (2024-08-13 - Rating: 5)

When you order the 8 pickle sampler, you would think it would be a sampler…but no lol, you get 8 JARS of pickles. Our server didn’t warn us when we got it for just two people. But they were all very tasty.Pulled pork sandwich was huge and lots of meat. Great place for food!

  • Review 26 (2024-04-29 - Rating: 4)

Fun food joint with awesome portion sizes - which I feel are fair for the price. We got the poutine, sausage egg biscuit, and the honey chicken biscuit sandwich. They were all good. If I come again I’d like to come with more friends because this is definitely the kind of place with lots of options to choose from and the portions are so big it’s hard to try much among two people. Service could have even a little better - between 10 & 15 minutes before we ordered but they were nice and helpful when we asked for things. I can see why this place is popular. It’s a fun environment and they were able to get us in fast (party of 2 around 2:30pm).

  • Review 27 (2023-04-08 - Rating: 5)

Absolutely solid spot for brunch. Great atmosphere (if you don’t like loud music beware). Service was a little slow but we loved everything we ordered. The banana chocolate chip pancakes were perfect. My friends had the biscuit french toast & chicken and pancakes. The only thing that wasn’t a stand out was the biscuit special of the day - red velvet chocolate chip. It was a little dry. But definitely will come back!

  • Review 28 (2024-08-30 - Rating: 4)

I have to be honest wait staff excellent 👌, My spicy honey chicken biscuits good but the sauce over took the bottom part of the biscuit. Pickles good good. Spent my birthday there a good lunch. I will go again just with minor changes to my order.

  • Review 29 (2024-09-30 - Rating: 5)

Delicious sandwiches, large portions, the grits are tasty and I don’t usually like them! The drinks are okay, nothing special about them, would be nice if they offered happy hour deals for drinks.

  • Review 30 (2024-04-08 - Rating: 4)

Had a late lunch here yesterday with friends. Naturally it was fairly busy on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Approximately a 30 minute wait, I’d have to say it’s worth it. While I can’t give the food 5 stars, the quantity was downright comical. On top of that, our server Mason was one of the best I’ve ever had. If you’re in the neighborhood, you owe it to yourself to try them out.

  • Review 31 (2024-12-29 - Rating: 5)

10/10 recommend! We were able to get a reservation for 9 people with less than 24 hours notice and we were seated almost immediately after arriving! Our waiter was friendly (Derek I believe his name was) and our food came out perfectly. Everyones food was delicious with huge portion sizes. We truly had such a great experience and would love to come back!

  • Review 32 (2024-04-28 - Rating: 5)

One of our favourite places we ate in whilst in NY. The food is incredible and the portions were huge. We got the deep friend pickles, the sausage gravy chicken sandwich and some beers. Fantastic selection of beers/alcohol, we also gave the old moonshine a taste over ice. Yum! Our server was lovely, I don’t remember his name but he has dark hair and beard wore a hat, he was looking after the outside part of the restaurant on the 21st April. What genuinely nice server, he actually gave us a free dessert (fried oreos) which were delicious! My boyfriend was really keen to try some biscuits and gravy with it being the first time in the USA for him, he enjoyed his meal very much! We shared as the portions were huge and we were very full. Thanks for providing such an enjoyable experience, we will recommend this place to anyone that we know visiting NYC. We will be back when we return to the city too. Please pass our comments over to our server, we are the Scottish couple who sat outside. 10/10!

  • Review 33 (2024-05-29 - Rating: 5)

Biscuits & Pickles in New York is a gem for anyone craving Southern comfort food. Their biscuits are buttery and fluffy, and the house-made pickles add a tangy twist that’s just perfect. The place has a cozy, welcoming vibe, and the staff are super friendly. Its a great spot for a relaxed breakfast or brunch. I would very recommended.

  • Review 34 (2024-06-29 - Rating: 5)

Made a quick reservation about 45 mins before leaving our house! SO GOOD, and portion size is humongous. One plate can easily feed 2 people. We got the fan favourite (the spicy chicken sandwich), Mac and cheese wit the egg, and flight of pickles! Our favourite was definitely the sandwich and the pickles!

  • Review 35 (2024-07-21 - Rating: 4)

Great starters, the biscuits in particular were large, fluffy and delicious. Had their hot chicken and biscuit for a main which was unfortunately a little bland, I think the chicken probably needed more seasoning or a sauce to tie it together.

  • Review 36 (2024-08-29 - Rating: 4)

Went here a total of 4-5 times. Idk why I gave it so many chances, but Im glad I did.First few times were just ok. The patty melt sandwich was p expensive and was 90% fries. The beef short rib was good, rest of the stuff was ok. Had croque madame another time, it was good. The last chance I gave was during restaurant week 2024. And wow that was amazing. The spread of various sauces and biscuits was so good. Then the mushroom gravy chicken biscuit was mind blowing. Also ordered creamy bbq sauce on the side, was so yummy!Usually its too expensive and a dissapointment. But this time it felt good eating here.

  • Review 37 (2024-05-09 - Rating: 5)

I’ve been wanting to try this spot for a while and I’ve gotta say, they nailed it. Great vibes, delicious southern food (which I love), and just a really really great value. As everybody else has mentioned, the portions are huge! The sandwiches are a serious knife and fork job. We had an order of fried pickles, some okra, a chicken sandwich and the meatloaf. Yeah, for two we definitely over ordered a bit. But it was all so good. One of the standouts for me was the meatloaf which was the amazing! They also have a nice selection of beers, all at reasonable prices. I’m already looking forward to a return visit!

  • Review 38 (2024-11-23 - Rating: 4)

Everything comes in large portion. The pickle selection is interesting. Too bad I dont eat pickles, but I still manage to try a few and feel that I can probably eat it like snacks. They are literally called pickle chips as well !! Chicken and waffle is really great!!

  • Review 39 (2024-04-29 - Rating: 5)

Such good southern food! I love this place too because of the pickles so I’m a bit biased, because I love pickles in general. The chicken sandwiches are amazing and the sauces they serve with them are a must. The poutine was fun, it could probably serve 10 people though.

  • Review 41 (2024-06-08 - Rating: 5)

Great for brunch especially if youre looking for heavy, hearty, and sweet. The biscuit french toast is certainly a standout. They do also have a few decent healthier options as well. Ive found they often quote you a longer wait than it actually is, so usually worth putting your name down even if they say its gonna be a while.

  • Review 42 (2024-04-27 - Rating: 5)

We enjoyed dining here. The food were yummy and generous in size. You want to eat pickles or drink beer alongside with food to cut the grease :) nice service and my kids enjoyed chicken and pancakes.

  • Review 43 (2024-12-16 - Rating: 5)

This was our visit experience at this restaurant. We didnt have reservations but the staff offered us a table in the enclosed sidewalk space. Not ideal since it wasnt heated but it didnt matter after we got our food. We all had the fried chicken with gravy and biscuits. We each chose a different gravy and we all loved what we ordered. The portions are generous so no dessert. We will definitely be going back.

  • Review 44 (2024-10-25 - Rating: 5)

Very good experience here. This was my second time and I think I cracked the code. Wait lines can get very much out of hand but get there early! They open at 10:00 and I was there at 10:02 with no reservations and got seated right away. If you get here around 11:30/12:00 on a Saturday morning, good luck! 😂

  • Review 45 (2023-12-16 - Rating: 5)

Have been several times and always love it. Service is quick and great, portions are HUGE… like MEGA. The star of the show for me is definitely the biscuits with mushroom gravy, although others I’ve dined with have said the sausage gravy is some of the best they’ve had too. Fried pickles are great and drinks are fun.

  • Review 46 (2024-06-22 - Rating: 4)

Huge, hearty portions (and sturdy leftover boxes too!). Nice waiter who comped our poutine after forgetting the gravy. The biscuit french toast is pretty unqiue, the pickles are cool, the oatmeal is wholesome and has nice flavors, and the poutine is like in Canada.

  • Review 47 (2023-12-30 - Rating: 5)

Amazing southern inspired chicken dishes. Overwhelming menu! The portions are huge. The poutine is amazing but you need at least three or four people to eat it. The biscuits are perfection. Great selection of beers to go with anything you order. The music is very loud, so dont expect to have an easy conversation here. Youll be eating anyway so its not that big of an issue. Servers are fast, attentive, and know the menu.

  • Review 48 (2024-12-10 - Rating: 5)

We came here for family brunch during a trip to the city. My European mind cant process the serving sizes and composition of dishes, but we LOVED every one of it! The fried chicken was delicious, the biscuits juicy and the coffee kept coming. Staff was friendly and attentive the entire time. Definitely would come back!

  • Review 49 (2024-12-28 - Rating: 5)

We had a spectacular experience at Jacob’s pickles. It’s tucked out of the main chaos of the city, has plenty of seating, and great music. We didn’t have a reservation and it was busy, and they found a way to seat us quickly! The food was ammaaazing! I’m from the south and it can be a challenge to make a good fried chicken. They crushed it. It was perfectly cooked, tender, the ideal amount of crunch and not too crunchy. As other reviewers said, the servings are huge! We split 2 plates between 4 people and still didn’t eat it all. We had fried pickles, the chicken and challah French toast, and chocolate chip banana French toast with fried chicken added.Eat here. You won’t regret it. It’s one of our favorite dining experiences in NYC so far.

  • Review 50 (2023-12-04 - Rating: 5)

Jacob’s Pickles was awesome! I was a difficult customer “not purposely” and the staff was excellent and executed the definition of service. Checking out of my hotel was a nightmare and made me late for my reservation and when I called to say I’d be late, they were kind and accommodating. Once we arrived we were promptly seated and greeted by Alverde who was knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and kind. He recommended food to us and was patient. My girlfriend ordered something that was a little too spicy for her (it was still good, she just can’t handle spice) and Alverde handled the situation so well and didn’t make us feel like a burden, he took it away and got her a new meal very quickly which was delicious. The food was AMAZING. The chicken and biscuits were so good and I had to get biscuits to go home. We will definitely be return customers and be telling our friends to check it out. It’s a busy/hopping place but they haven’t sacrificed service as a result. 10/10 in my book.

  • Review 52 (2023-12-25 - Rating: 5)

Ive had the pleasure of visiting this place many times, making it a point to never leave NYC without eating there at least once. The fried pickles are some of the best Ive ever had - they have somehow managed to keep the pickles juicy and flavorful, while making the batter perfectly crispy and not soggy at all. The sauce that comes with it tops it all off! Im also a fan of the street corn with the spicy aioli, which I get every single time. My sister got the chicken and pancakes, so I was able to try that as well. The pancakes arent anything special, but the chicken is the crispiest Ive ever had, without all of the grease! The combo of it all together is pretty tasty! Lastly, I tried their jam jar, which ingredient-wise is just gin and lemonade, but it is truly an amazing combination and the most refreshing lemonade Ive ever tried. It wasnt too sweet and definitely hit the spot, tying everything together. The atmosphere is very cozy, especially for dinner, but they also have an amazing selection of up-beat music playing constantly. Service has always been amazing and Ive never really had any wait times. No complaints so far, so highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

  • Review 53 (2024-09-25 - Rating: 4)

We enjoyed the stay and especially the food - comfort, soul food. We had a warm welcome but our waiter was not up to speed, ok but nothing more.

  • Review 54 (2024-12-31 - Rating: 5)

I would rate this food with a 5 star rating but one person at my table was not happy with her fish tacos she said they were cold and another person didn’t really eat much on her plate and she had chicken with biscuits and something else, I couldn’t see on the plate. I did go with a lot of people and many of us were very happy with our food and loving it. They serve you humongous entrees so come with an appetite, the vibe is loud but great. The only other thing is that the food and drinks can get very expensive. So if you go with a group and share the bill come with at least $100 in your pocket for big groups of like 10 or more. Other than that I loved this place, I loved trying out the different pickels and watching others get crazy drinks with pickles in them and all kinds of stuff, I had the beef rib, which wasn’t cheap, but oh boy did it melt in my mouth, it was so tender and absolutely delicious, you gotta try it. Yes I had a great time and I’m going back again real soon!

Visited during restaurant week and the special menu was great. The server accommodated our group of five pretty fast. Also, the portions of the special menu are huge for the price. Easily, two people can eat from one plate. The pickles flight is a great option to try a few, but the fried pickles are the best

Jacobs Pickles has the best fried chicken and pickles in all of NYC. We went for brunch this past Sunday and the place was packed. We started with the Jam Jar and Spicy Brine Margarita cocktails and both were delicious, especially the margarita. It was perfectly spicy with just the right amount of pickle flavor without it being overwhelming. For an appetizer, we did the Fried Pickles served with spicy mayo. These pickles are the absolute BEST Ive ever tried--the batter is amazing and it actually adheres to the pickles without sloughing off. The pickle within was delightful and fresh. For our main course, we had the Hot Chicken Biscuit and the Chicken & Pancakes. Both blew us out of the water. The fried chicken is just incredible, so tasty and battered perfectly. Again, Im not sure how they do it, but NONE of the batter detaches from the chicken and remains perfectly intact throughout. Not to mention, the portions are VERY generous and the side of grits that came with the sandwich were delicious. There was plenty of leftovers for dinner later on. Our server, Cam, was good but very busy with the brunch rush. I HIGHLY recommend Jacobs Pickles for brunch, lunch, dinner, and the best pickles and chicken in all of NYC!

Great food, drinks, and staff. Portions are huge and the food is tasty. Highly recommend the fried pickles, loaded fries, spicy brine margarita, and the biscuits!Only suggestion is the lighting is terrible in the back during dinner. It was hard to see the menu and you walk away with achy eyes.

I have to admit, Jacobs Pickles was simply phenomenal. One word describes Jacobs Pickles: remarkable. The look of this place is really nice. Menu items are really good and the team is really courteous. Its in an excellent location and we were extremely pleased with our experience. Every thing Ive tried thus far has been terrific. Most everything Ive tried thus far have been really great. Every thing was so delicious. Fabulous. Great service and staff. I certainly liked the service too, they are very courteous and attentive. Workers are really friendly. Theyre accommodating, respectful and always on their game. I d say my experience here was fantastic. Certainly be back for more. Jacobs Pickles: Super pleased.

This became a New York favorite; definitely visiting every time I’m in the city. The portions are HUGE so plan to share. The drinks are amazing. I love the use of pickles throughout their options. Definitely felt like comfort food. The service was great and the vibe was great too. We stayed near Central Park and this restaurant was easily accessible for us.

Good food, great service and awesome atmosphere. Upon arrival I didn’t think we would be seated because it was busy but even during a crowded holiday, we were accommodated right away. The venue is so cute, well decorated and the music stood out the most, very enjoyable. The server recommended we try the blueberry lemon biscuit and it did not disappoint! The food was so good, it made my shoulders dance. Kudos to the chef and the foot they have in those recipes. I would definitely come back here to enjoy more of this comfort delicious food. Thank you!

What an incredible dining experience my mom and I had! Our waiter, Fabi, was friendly, efficient, knowledgable, accommodating, and kind. The Harvest Sangria had a fabulous Fall spice flavor. We ordered fried green tomatoes, cheesy grits, the shrimp kale salad, and the fried Oreos to share. ALL of which were exceptionally delicious; my mom rated the fried green tomatoes better than the South when she lived in Louisiana. Then, we had the honor of meeting the creator and owner, Jacob, who was very personable and made the time to ask us about our meal. Would highly recommend!

Stopped by Jacobs Pickles for a party today. Have been here once or twice before before for drinks and small plates. While we are not huge fans of southern comfort food, this place is always packed every time we walk by it. If youre into southern style food, Jacobs Pickles and the Ribbon are the two top places to visit for this type of cuisine on the Upper West Side.

Perfect city meal, the bread is of the best things I have ever eaten. The staff is fast, nice and accurate with orders. The food portions are perfect for my family. I have eaten here half a dozen times now, they never miss. I have come into the city a few times just to here, highly recommended.

  • Review 64 (2023-04-23 - Rating: 5)

Great experience at this place! You get a TON of food — it’s definitely fairly priced. The Jacob’s Patty Melt was really good. Fries were nice n crispy. The spicy mayo is delicious! Perfect for dunking fries. If you’re into chicken and pancakes, this place does it well. The pancakes were fluffy and the chicken was juicy, tender, and crispy. Only complaint was that the music inside was loud so it was hard to talk. The hot chicken sandwich was great but pretty hot, it overtakes the flavor of the chicken. If you don’t like spicy food, steer clear.

Busy place, but its obvious why. The food was amazing. The service was prompt and attentive. The atmosphere was amazing. Loud, but energetic. Id definitely recommend and go back if Im in the city again. I definitely suggest getting a pickle sampler if you love pickles. All of them were delicious.

Great spot for some hearty comfort food! We got the street corn to start which was delicious, and got the ribs, Nashville chicken biscuit, caesar salad and the meatloaf. Portions are sizeable, so go hungry. We shared the red velvet choc chip bread pudding which was recommended by our server. Meal was delicious, and it’s a great place for groups. We liked the cozy interior. The biscuit sandwiches they offer really are something, and I’d recommend trying that. I loved the biscuit! I’d probably get the cheese on the side for the Caesar in future.

  • Review 72 (2024-01-27 - Rating: 5)

Probably the best thing we ate while in New York. Besides Katzs Deli. The pickles are amazing! We tried the hot chicken biscuit, honey chicken and pickles, buffalo Mac and cheese, grits, and mushroom gravy smothered chicken. All were SO delicious! But the true winner in all of this was the biscuit bread pudding. My husband is a sucker for bread pudding and he said this is the best one hes ever had! So save room for dessert! It was so delicious!!Also, make sure you call in ahead of time, maybe days ahead, to schedule a table. We lucked out a few hours before and got a seat for early lunch, but by the time we left it was packed! So reserve your seats now! Its worth it.

The service, atmosphere and food was top notch! Come hungry, the portions are massive!!! My dessert alone couldve fed 6 people. The biscuit beer was amazing, and the bloody Mary is a must!100% will be back

  • Review 74 (2022-10-19 - Rating: 5)

Come with an appetite! These portions are huge (so maybe also bring a few friends)! The pulled pork sandwich special is amazing. Spicy chicken sandwich was soo good, but easily enough chicken for 3+ people (no joke). Deviled eggs were insane and over the top. Pickles are pretty epic too.To be honest, felt pretty wasteful about the amount of food and since it’s so greasy, it’s not like you’d have it boxed up to eat later :/ Trust me, there will be leftovers.Staff is nice, but a little sassy because of the high volume, so I get it. Fun spot for a friendly gathering. Inside is pretty loud but outside seating has heaters and less loud.

Jacobs Pickles is that for me.The outdoor seating was plentiful and covered - we didnt have to wait at all. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive providing recommendations and answering questions. Now for the food/drink, the beer options were unique - theres a lemon meringue lager that is SO refreshing and light. The fried pickles were salty and sweet but not extreme - no tooth aching or face puckering. The hot chicken sandwich was served with a mountain of dill pickles that had coriander seeds which I thought complimented the dish beautifully. Sides included a fluffy and crunchy biscuit (no stodgy pucks here) as well as a pot of creamy and cheesy grits. Finally, the chicken ... Fried to perfection. The salad had the same tasty chicken on a crisp iceberg wedge with creamy blue cheese and crisp bacon.Would absolutely recommend anyone (both pickle lovers and non-pickle aficionados) to this restaurant!

Country inspired oversized portions. There is a reason locals are standing on the street in New York City. 🏙️ This restaurant was packed, be sure to make a reservation, we walked right in. Homemade biscuits, gravy tops everything and staples like chicken and waffles 🧇 Full bar with classics like bloody Mary’s topped with bacon 🥓. Saturdays they have the pulled pork special on the menu - till they run out. It was amazing! Of course we go a side of pickles.

This place is great if you are hungry and craving for a huge portion of food. They have a few vegetarian options. Mushroom gravy biscuit was soft and delicious. Fried pickles were okay, wouldn’t order again. Honey chicken was amazing, but a bit to sweet (which is expected) by the end of the meal.Keep in mind that the place is quite busy and you might have to wait around 30 minutes. If you like to sit inside the wait time might be longer. The staff is nice overall, but some people are seemingly tired of that many clients.

I found this place on instagram and on Grubhub. I had the biscuit sampler. It came with two huge fluffy biscuits, honey, salted butter, maple butter (which I didn’t have high hopes for but it was phenomenal), homemade strawberry preserves and homemade orange preserves (wasn’t my favorite), a side of chicken, fried pickles, and the biscuit bread pudding (came with vanilla ice cream). My favorites were the biscuits and the fried pickles. Absolutely amazing and delicious.

Jacobs Pickles is a lively casual restaurant a few blocks from central park. The service is impressively quick considering how large and busy the restaurant is. The portions are massive, it is proper southern comfort food with an excellent drink selection to match. Come hungry & enjoy! The deep fried pickles were a definite highlight.

  • Review 84 (2023-11-03 - Rating: 5)

This place is insanely good. I had never even heard of it until I was told this is where we were getting dinner with another couple. We got a lot of the menu and the wife knew some of the best items. The ribs were *chefs kiss* insanely tasty, the Mac and cheese was wildly savory and sooo good, the honey chicken biscuit was incredible and enough for more than one meal easily, fried pickles were fried pickles - so they were good, deviled eggs were outstanding, the corn slapped, and the poutine was not true poutine, but what it was, was killer. It’s like a beehive of really good fries smothered in cheese and maybe some gravy? I couldn’t tell but I also couldn’t stop picking at it the whole meal. This place is a must try if you like to have leftovers and you like southern style food. Man I can’t wait to go back, again.

I am not a big fan of fried chicken, but a friend convinced me about Jacob’s Pickles fried chicken. We ordered fried chicken, biscuits, a side of creamy mushroom sauce and okra chips as a starter.I am not sure if it’s the fried chicken alone or the combination with the creamy mushroom sauce, but oh my that was just delicious and hands down the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! The creaminess of the sauce was a perfection to the crispiness of the chicken and overall it was such a delicious combination. This visit was a year ago and to this day, I can’t stop thinking about it.Well done guys, I will be back when I’m in New York!

Visited for Saturday brunch and the place was packed. We barely managed to find a seat. The lemonade had a fresh, homemade feel as it was made with freshly squeezed lemons, and the coffee had a nice balance between its nutty flavor and acidity. The pickles were perfect for whetting the appetite, and the Coop Platter was incredibly generous. The Biscuit French Toast paired wonderfully with strawberries and syrup.Overall, the portions are quite large, so I recommend arriving with a hearty appetite!

I would give this place higher than 5 if I could. Excellent in every aspect! The service, the atmosphere, the drinks, and the food. This was the first place in NYC that I could taste the bourbon in my cocktail. The Mac and cheese was beyond cheesy and creamy. The croque madame was full of flavor and the chocolate chip banana pancakes were so thick and fluffy. The lemonade was freshly made. It is our new favorite place in the city and we will definitely be back!

This place is great. I ordered the patty melt on their brunch menu and it was so good. The pickles *chefs kisses*. The amount of fresh fries they proved? A ton. Literally a ton. Red Robin and their bottomless fries would NEVER. I ate there last weekend and Ive thought about that meal at least once a day.It is a very loud environment, so I would keep that in mind if your out with a friend you want to have an active conversation with.

Prepare to indulge yourself eating here! Attentive and personable servers, very well prepared and generous versions of southern favs like biscuits and fried chicken and fantastic selection of beer. Fluffy, light savory biscuits and ethereal fried chicken. Burger was fantastic and my dining companion proclaimed “these are the best french fries I’ve ever had”. Lively clientele and bustling pace can be a little distracting but everyone really seemed to be enjoying this place. Will definitely return and enjoy breakfast items and sample the pickles and pickled veg.

Jacobs Pickle in the Upper West Side is a haven for those seeking comfort food with a twist. Recently, I had the pleasure of indulging in their honey chicken and pickles dish, and it was an experience worth savoring. The portion size was indeed generous, ensuring that every bite was a journey through layers of flavor and satisfaction. The honey-glazed chicken was perfectly cooked, tender on the inside with a delightful crispness on the outside. Paired with the tangy crunch of the pickles, each bite was a harmonious balance of sweet and sour. Moreover, the ambiance of Jacobs Pickle adds to the overall dining experience, with its cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, making it an ideal spot for a casual meal with friends or family. In conclusion, if you find yourself craving hearty comfort food elevated to new heights, look no further than Jacobs Pickle. Your taste buds will thank you.

Why settle for less when you can have it all?

Late night dinner dining outside. Make a reservation if you can for outdoor if desired, indoor was pretty much empty but most tables were taken outside. Split the pickle flight and a hot chicken sandwich (come with lots of pickles, biscuit, grits)with a friend, adding the chicken to my side salad, and everything was great! A few options of picked items to select from for build+your-own flight. My BLT Bloody as well as the biscuit beer were both good. Service was a bit slow but it was a nice warm night so hanging outside waiting didnt bother us

They have their style making southern food! It was tasty for sure…. And big portion!🥪Croque Madame was a must! I was really impressed but its rich flavor and texture. Biscuit was crispy at the edge and the cheese went everywhere.French toast was normal. But the blueberry lemon flavor was impressive.🧀🌽And cheese grit was special. Making you guilty but happy at the same time.Last comment: don’t eat anything before visit..

Flight of pickles was fun and great tasting. Great icebreaker trying and comparing the eight different types. Sweet wete my favorite. The flught of pickles is filling and makes nearly for a meal. We ordered around the table meatloaf on mashed potatoes, Chicken wedge salad, and patty melt. Each portion was too big. We sat inside. It is really dark. We went to eat early at 6:45pm everyone in the restaurant was using their phones to light up the menu. I recommend eating outside. Waiter had negative vibe attitudes. Rest of the staff was friendly. It is a nice quirky place for a change.

Always a must-stop when in NYC! Next time I need to remember to skip the deviled eggs. They’re bland and don’t live up to the southern classic standard. The hot cukes were amazing and I wish they had these in jars!! (The plastic deli containers offered can’t be flown). The croque madame is my all time favorite!

  • Review 102 (2021-07-02 - Rating: 4)

I’ve never heard of Jacob Pickles before, a friend took me here to have brunch there. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining. The restaurant is known as a southern style restaurant but this isn’t a southern soul food restaurant. The wait wasn’t long to be seated. There was a total of 4 restrooms in the restaurant, 3 are located downstairs and one upstairs. All restrooms are gender inclusive; the 3 restrooms are single stalls/toilets and the sinks are outside. Upstairs it’s a regular bathroom. There are QR codes on the tables in order for you to view the menu. The waitress came over right away and informed us of the specials and changes to the menu. I wanted to order a Shirley Temple however the restaurant didn’t have any cherry syrup so I ordered an orange juice instead. The drinks were large and served in mason jars. For starters we ordered the Bacon Steak, it was very delicious and sweet. I ordered the Biscuit French Toast; I was a bit skeptical and nervous of how it would taste and it was different. But let me tell you it was absolutely delicious, I’m glad I decided to try it. My friend had the BBQ Smothered Pepper Jack Chicken with cheese grits, it was very moist and packed with flavor. I wanted to order the grits as a side however they only have cheese grits, I was disappointed. I did taste the grits but they did taste very bland it could be because I’m not a fan of cheese grits. Paying for the bill was simple we used a contactless device. I’m looking forward to returning to the restaurant.

Delicious food! Ordered the fried chicken and pancakes and they were absolutely amazing! They truly live up to their reputation but be sure to make reservations in advance, otherwise the wait may be up to 3 hours. Also ordered street corn and a selection of pickles. Also top notch. Great and friendly service. Felt comfortable dining here in the era of social distancing. Syrup and hot sauce given out in disposable containers.

They offer a great selection of beers. While Im not a fan of cocktails, their jam jar is delicious. The pickles are a must-try. The hot chicken biscuit is the star of the menu if you can handle a bit of spice. On weekends, their special beef ribs are simply outstanding. Overall, it’s one of the best restaurants in the city..

I used to live around the corner from here, 4 years ago, until my greedy landlord kicked everyone out and imploded my building to construct condominiums for multi-millionaires. Bitter, party of three at 6pm?Yes, it’s $$$$ for what is essentially an elevated, generally under seasoned/spiced take on southern comfort food. One could argue it’s dumb expensive. That said, this hood isn’t Scooba, Mississippi, Daphne.Speaking of Scooby, their outdoor dining is dog friendly, basic and warm(ish) in the cold. Their service is friendly, accommodating and efficient. Sit indoors for the ultimate experience, Captain obvious.Items I’d order again: okra and chillies, corn app, fried chicken anything, biscuits, meatloaf, slaw, potato salad, mushroom mashI’m not the biggest fan of their ribs. Fall off the bone isn’t my steez and neither is oven baked ribs. Once you’ve had BBQ ribs/anything in Texas, oven baked ribs slathered with a sweet sauce is hard to eat. It’s not disgusting, it’s actually good for what it is, it’s just the entire time eating it all I can think about was all the ribs I had in Austin. It’s akin to that ex you let get away.Their adult cocktails will not disappoint, unlike that relationship. If you’re salt /seasoning forward kind of person, the seasoning here is more subtle and refined, as they say and may dissatisfy the more traditional southern palate. That said, my blood pressure does appreciate the restraint, especially since I had way too much Italian cured meats yesterday. Pause.Next day reheat situation is mid. The proteins and sides aren’t better the next day. Gorge and save a tree.Date spot: 4/5Price to portion: 3.5/5Destination: It’s an UWS staple. Not sure I’d take a train from downtown or Harlem to eat here, though.

Thought the food was excellent. The drinks were not great, but drinkable (Bloody Mary and margarita both had a strong vinegar flavor). Would go again for the food and great service though. The outdoor seating is spacious and lovely for fall weather. Pro tip: order the honey chicken biscuit and ask for Nashville hot sauce on the side.

I absolutely love Jacob’s Pickles. When we first came to find it like 8 years ago I was skeptical because I don’t love pickles but they have so many great choices! I’ve recommended it to all of my friends in the city and will continue to do so. My latest experience in terms of food was just as fantastic as I expected but the wait time this time….my god it was ridiculous! They are a little pricey and it seems they have even gone up since the last time I went. Our server was friendly, but I still can’t get over the wait time. We waited 45 mins to be seated when originally told 30 mins. We waited 20 mins to get our drinks after they were ordered. We waited another 20 mins to get our apps (we got the poutine (which had almost no gravy if any on it??) and the 4 for $15 pickle sampler platter. I strongly recommended the green beans and carrots as two of the choices!). Then we waited 45!!! minutes to get our meal after the apps. I understand they were busy but this is just insane to me. If this was my first time I’d definitely not want to come back.Aside from the apps we got, we got the jam jar (my personal favorite), and the dirty Aphrodite. I’ve also had the dickel back and the apple pie moonshine. For food we got the sausage gravy smothered chicken (my personal favorite as well), the honey chicken and pickles (also great, I like pickles now!), the catfish tacos, and chicken bacon egg and cheese. Everything was so good. I’ve also had the biscuits and gravy, the cheese grits, the Mac n cheese, the hot chicken biscuit, biscuits and fixins, and loved it all. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Just don’t come too hungry or in a hurry!I’ll have to come back to give it the 5 stars it deserves.

The food here is fantastic!!! The service was great and the atmosphere was on point. A great place for dates and even brunch! Can’t wait to go back!

This was our first time here, the buffalo Mac and Cheese was the best I have had in New York City! They were very accommodating of my little dog and brought him a little water dish. The Jam jar cocktail was so refreshing and the strawberries in it were lovely. The service was great and the food was equally amazing. All together a great experience!

Managed to grab a table for 3 on a Sunday with a 15 minute wait. Well worth it! The place is perfect for a brunch. The waiter was delightful--he kept my water full! The only problem I had was that the table was uneven because we were seated on the sidewalk. Ask them to sit you inside the restaurantJacob has great house dill but more impressive was the portions of this southern brunch ! All entrees were < $20 and you get more than what you bargain. My massive pancakes were served hot, fresh out the kitchen. They were fluffy and moist so dont ruin them by drenching it in syrup. I risked it to get the biscuit...The chicken was the perfect crispy and honestly, each entree is big enough for 2. Im telling you this is sustenance for the entire day and next. The entire menu is a stoners delight. No wrong choices

This place has amazing brunch food and drinks. They have a wide selection to choose from whether you want traditional brunch food or something more like a salad or mac and cheese. It is super crowded here and there is usually a pretty long wait for brunch on the weekends. You can stand in the bar area and wait, or you can walk around the neighbourhood and they will text you when your table is ready.I especially love this place because they have vegetarian biscuits and gravy, a dish that traditionally has sausage in it. You can order the gravy as mushroom gravy instead of sausage gravy in order to make it vegetarian. The biscuits are fluffy and the gravy is rich and delicious. The cheese grits is loaded with cheese, as is the mac and cheese. There are a bunch of even heavier dishes in the menu if thats what you are looking for.Jacobs Pickles is a great brunch spot with Southern style foods and good vegetarian options. It is definitely worth the wait for weekend brunch here.

I had a nice dinner date with my girlfriend in the city and I must say it was a fulfilling meal we had. She had the bacon, and eggs on a biscuit it came with a side of grits. I had the honey chicken and waffles on a biscuit with a side of grits. As an appetizer, we had a good cheddar biscuit. Whiskey flight as drinks but it wasnt labeled on the board which one we were having. Overall, great service, good homily vibes, and big portions. They werent joking when they said its big portions.

  • Review 121 (2024-12-09 - Rating: 5)

Surprisingly amazing little eatery in NYC. We were met with a wonderful brunch and lunch menu which was as comfortable as comfort food could ever get. The service was prompt and friendly, the food was perfectly cooked and artfully arranged, and the portions are HUGE. the food was less expensive than up here in Westchester and double the size! What a home run - especially for great food. Nashville hot chicken and grits were phenomenal and I never dreamed French toast could be soo amazing. Weekday around 2pm this place was packed and kinda loud. Overall killer eats. And yes the pickles themselves are addictive!!

  • Review 122 (2022-07-22 - Rating: 5)

This is the best brunch in the city hands down! The portions are crazy, I always need to pack a to go box. The Mac and cheese is delicious like some of the best I ever had. The bread here is addicting I always order extra to take home! You cannot go wrong with brunch here you won’t be disappointed!

Well what can one say about this place... Simply A M A Z I N G ! Food, drinks, service, prices... Probably the best place to have brunch lunch or dinner in UWS if not in the whole of Manhattan! Try the biscuit beer, and if you find the biscuit pumpkin beer, try that one too! Mac and cheese at its best, soothing soups, crunchy chicken... Dont miss it!Came back few years later... The place has gotten even better! Service is perfect and food remains at the same perfect quality! This is now a classic UWS spot!

  • Review 126 (2024-08-28 - Rating: 5)

Visiting from Texas for vacation, had family who suggested this place and we were not disappointed! When they say they have good sized portions, they mean it. Definitely Texas sized dishes. The fried pickles started us out on the right foot, and closed with the French Toast & French Toast, and the Southern BLT. Despite walking all day through the city, and building up a fierce appetite, we barely made a dent and took half of our meals home for dinner. 10 out of 10 for food, and great friendly and quick service. Thanks!

  • Review 128 (2021-07-05 - Rating: 5)

Delicious and VERY large portions. Got the biscuit and fixins as a shared starter, the jam jar cocktail for myself, and the honey chicken and pickles biscuit sandwich (also for myself). The jam jar was very strong and delicious (good for people who enjoy sweet drinks). The picture was taken after I have had a few sips. Additionally, I substituted the grits for mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy as Im lactose intolerant.Highly recommend everything Ive had. Ive been to Jacobs about 3 times now and I cannot wait to go again. And yes, you WILL take home leftovers!! So for the price and quality, it is well worth it.

Jacob’s. Pickles. Whether you are visiting or you live here...it’s just a MUST! I have NEVER had a bad meal here! It’s heavy and has huge portions...but it’s worth it if you’re down for a splurge. They also have great service! I have come for years and it never disappoints.Things I love:-poutine-biscuits and gravy-ANY of the chicken sandwiches

This place is a must try!!! Huge portions, fantastic taste, reasonably priced. If you crave comfort food in the city, this is your spot! The only downside for me is the bloody Mary, is a lil too spicy for me, but that could be just me, our waitress Carly (I hope I spelled her name right) was wonderful, patient and attentive, Id never guessed that it was her first day, so professional. Wonderful staff, great food, if you come here you will be in great hands.

  • Review 132 (2024-09-23 - Rating: 4)

Portions were huge, really liked the concept and liked trying the house made pickles. The horseradish ones were unusual and really delicious. I was looking forward to the buttermilk chicken salad with biscuit croutons, and while it tasted OK, I found the chicken breading was a bit soft, and the biscuit croutons had the texture of stale bread. Excellent house made half ice tea/half lemonade!

  • Review 133 (2019-10-16 - Rating: 5)

Slamming food here whether its Brunch, or Dinner. If you DO come for brunch, plan ahead as it can get very busy quickly. You really cant go wrong with any food options. Anything with biscuits and chicken is phenomenal. The French toast using Challah bread is quite a site to be seen so thick and tall. We also recommend getting the Mac N Cheese so creamy and filling. Come hungry because the portions are very large and best to get a different plate for the table to share.Plentiful drinks and fabulous service. This place really is a staple restaurant to have in the area. Atmosphere is lively and wonderful. Great to come with family, friends, or a date. Cant wait to come again.

  • Review 135 (2024-04-24 - Rating: 5)

This was my first time visiting Jacobs Pickles. I liked the atmosphere of the bar restaurant. Nicely decorated.Although, my friend and I were sat in a very small banquet smooshed together with other people. So smooshed, we were practically sitting on top of the folks sitting next to us on either side when there were plenty of other tables open. Next time, I would request a different table.I really enjoyed my meal. I had the Honey Chicken Biscuit Sandwich with sweet hot pickles. The chicken was fried perfectly, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. The pickles were just the right combo of spicy sweet and had a good crisp bite as well. The biscuit was super yummy. Made in a cast-iron pan. The sandwich came with cheesy grits that I thought were very tasty. However, my friend said the consistency was too soupy for his taste. It was more like cream of wheat consistency to me. It really depends on your personal preference.Overall, I enjoyed Jacobs Pickles very much. Ill definitely be going back for more biscuits and pickles!

  • Review 136 (2023-09-26 - Rating: 4)

The food was delicious. I had the fried chicken on a biscuit with sausage gravy, and the combination of flavors was amazing. Also tried the spicy pickle margarita. The margarita had a pretty neutral flavor with a bit of a kick, but I enjoyed it. I would definitely come back here.

  • Review 137 (2023-08-05 - Rating: 5)

When they tell you the portions are southern (read: big), they really are southern. Great food and friendly service, the meal arrived quickly and was delicious. You can take leftovers to go, and if you’re going with someone or in a group, share a meal or two since you definitely won’t be able to finish it on your own.I sat outside, but it’s a lively neighborhood, so you don’t mind.

  • Review 138 (2021-05-10 - Rating: 5)

We had 12:30 reservations for 4. We were quickly seated. It is famous for its Biscuits. We started with Bloody Mary (good one). There portions are huge so four of us had too much to eat and we ended up getting some packed. Keep that in mind. As they are still following the COVID protocol it didn’t feel crowded or rushed. Give it a try next time if you are in that area. Without reservations on weekend it will be tough to get a place.

  • Review 139 (2023-05-07 - Rating: 4)

One of the juiciest pieces of chicken Ive had in quite a while. The pickles are good and unique, too. I dont know what the side dish was supposed to be, though. It had hardly any taste to it so we just left it.The waiter was getting snippy when she brought a coke light instead of the sprite I ordered.

  • Review 140 (2021-12-13 - Rating: 4)

Long wait time for a group of 4 (approximately 45 minutes)Seating is right. Long tables where customers sit together without separating.Pickles were a hit and a miss.Didnt like regular dill, green bean, horse radish. We liked sweet and sourChicken and pancakes were best choice hands down. The bacon bits w infusion of maple syrup in the soft dough balanced by crispy fried chicken melted in your mouth.Hot biscuit was spicy and filling with a large portion size. To get the best flavor you had to mix the pickle, chicken and biscuit. I swapped grits for mashed potato (they charged $3 extra). They were good but very creamy and wet which I wasnt expecting. A better alternative would have the French fries. Unfortunately the biscuit to chicken ratio was off and the sauce soaks through the biscuit and you cant eat as a sandwich.Chicken blt was disappointing. The coleslaw took away from the meal rather than add flavor. The fried chicken was good. The small buffalo chicken Mac and cheese was a hit. The small was still a big portion size. It came piping hit in a small cast iron pan. Warning forOverall this was a good spot, popular around 130 pm on a Saturday. Parking is terrible around this area. They give large portion sizes. Id go back to try the other meals if I was in the area.

I would describe this place as having southern fusion food. The biscuits was actually had a cornbread texture. The food was very good. The service was excellent. It was crowded and consistently had a line. I would definitely make a reservation or be prepared to wait. The food is worth the wait.

  • Review 147 (2022-11-18 - Rating: 5)

The portions are large and worth every bite. The max & cheese is literally the cheesiest. It is so good hot (not so great reheated, but sooo big you’ll take some home likely anyway). The hot chicken is spicy and delicious. The pumpkin biscuits are a nice touch either as appetizer or desert. Every thing we had was good including the service.

  • Review 148 (2019-01-20 - Rating: 5)

Stopped in on a Saturday around 12:30 and the place was packed. We didnt have to wait long for a seat at the bar, but I would have waited longer for a table! The atmosphere was great, half the restaurant was singing along with the amazing music playlist. Beer selection was on point, pickles were dynamite, and the biscuits with gravy are no joke. Add in the friendly staff and this place has it figured out. Definitely on the list of places to come back to.

  • Review 149 (2024-08-21 - Rating: 4)

Very large portions. If you’re going with a group I would recommend getting plates to share. We all ordered individual meals and we all could not finish our plates. The hot chicken was my favorite. It was full of so much flavor and a good amount of spice. We also ordered the banana pudding French toast and it was incredible. I thought it was going to be really sweet but I was surprised at the amount of richness it had without being too sweet. The fresh toast was extremely soft and paired with the banana pudding it was perfect. When I come back I would definitely suggest this pairing. The food was great however the coffee was terrible. We had to send it back. It tasted like it had been sitting for hours. We tried to add a ton of sugar and creamer and it was still terrible that we to send it back and we ordered mimosas instead.

This place is amazing. Like really amazing. First my party met Connor he may have been the person to seat us but we didnt forget his name or his personality he made us feel so comfortable. We didnt even notice the only available tables were without heat. When we were seated the manager Jacob who was also our waiter gave us complimentary tea and dessert so that we could stay warm. Jacob was so sweet and available I never had to look for him. All of the staff were so nice and welcoming. The hospitality was A+ I will definitely be going back. They are open and the food is great I posted pictures of all of our meals but it is so worth it. Thank you thank you Connor and Jacob what a way to bring in the new year...

Jacob’s Pickles is one of our favorite places to eat on the Upper West Side. The service is always extremely friendly And fast. They have a great selection of craft beers and other mixed drinks. You have to order the biscuits as an appetizer. And I promise, you will find it difficult, ordering from the menu because everything looks incredible!

  • Review 152 (2019-03-17 - Rating: 4)

Mostly great food, huge portions. Had the Croque Madame which was very good. Hush puppies were just okay. Main issue is that we wouldve liked the music much much lower. It was deafening.

  • Review 153 (2021-06-17 - Rating: 4)

If you like pickles, this is the place for you. It can get busy, especially on the weeked, so call ahead, and make reservations. There is seating on the inside, as well as the outside. There is also seating downstairs, but it is dimly lit, damn near dark. I was told the owner wanted it like that. The music was a bit loud, and it was a bit cold since we were right under the air conditioning. The drinks were good. I recommend the Bufflo Chicken Mac & Cheese, and the Honey Chicken, & Pickles. They have many options with pickles in it as well.

  • Review 154 (2023-10-20 - Rating: 4)

I will say, the portions are HUGE (if you’re into that) and food was great! The only negative one my end was how loud the music was, made it a bit hard to chat with friends (but, this was during a weekend day) - otherwise, will most likely be back. :)

  • Review 155 (2023-06-08 - Rating: 5)

Absolute comfort food!!! The French toast biscuit with strawberries was amazing. Ive never had anything like that before. The fried pickles and sauce were delicious (Im not a regular fan of pickles). Oh and dont forget to order grits, they were amazing. And the mix drinks were absolutely on point. Will definitely go back to this place. Service was great too. Thank you, Ladies.

What a great restaurant!!!!! Such GREAT FOOD!!!!I LOVED it!!!We came here for Sunday Early Dinner (Yesterday), and I cant honestly wait to be back. This place is one of the greatest/best restaurants Ive been to. Starting with the atmosphere, you feel great, they are all so welcoming, so polite, so attentive. It is simply awesome!!Then, the music will have you dancing in your seat the whole time youre here cause ITS LIT!!!!! Such a great playlist, loved it too. HahaWe were greeted by Lance, since I had a reservation he had us seated right away. Lance was very impressive and he gives out such a good vibe. Then our waiter, Jordan, came to the table to bring us water and napkins. I have their names in my notes, as I always try to recognize the staff when they do such a good work, Jordan is in my notes as Jordan - BEST waiter EVER!!!!. Hahaha! He really was the best, he would come to our table every 8-10 minutes to make sure everything was perfect. Loved how professional yet friendly and attentive he was, hope hes there to serve us whenever I come back!Food wise, everything was so perfect, so delicious and the portions are gigantic. We started with the Poutine (added bacon to it), it was MOUTHWATERING, the combination of every ingredient was divine. Then we ordered Buffalo Mac and Cheese and Classic Mac and Cheese (w/Bacon), we got entree size and it was such a huge mistake, I had 4 bites and couldnt eat any other bite after that. My boyfriend finished almost half of his Buffalo Mac and he was struggling to eat more cause it was so good but his body couldnt take any more. We ended up filling up three containers to take home, not one, not two, THREE!! We took two to my boyfriends mom and one home, it was so much food its CRAYCRAY!I really wish to be back on Brunch and try other delicious options.Really loved this restaurant, loved the ambiance, loved the food, and the service was definitely the cherry on top! Come and rate if you have the chance.1,000,000% recommended!!!!!!!!P.S.: Forgot to mention their AWESOME, DELICIOUS Fried Oreos. They were the BEST Fried Oreos we’ve had. They were crispy all over, sweet but not overwhelming. The batter was light so you get to enjoy the taste of the oreo more than the batter. They were finger licking delicious!!!GET THE FRIED OREOS!!! GET THE FRIED OREOS!!! GET THE FRIED OREOS!!!!!!!!!!

Jacobs Pickles is in my neighborhood, maybe less than a 10min walk from the apartment. Have passed this place many times, either coming from a volleyball game, using the bike lane near it or just walking. Every time though, the place is packed. Have heard good things about this place but havent had the chance to try their food till now.Was coming from Columbus Circle and decided to walk instead so developed an appetite. Had to time my walk so I arrived just past 4pm as that is the time Jacobs Pickles serves its dinner menu.Decided on Chicken & Pancakes (buttermilk fried chicken, crispy nitrate free bacon and homemade syrup), Low Vountry Meatloaf (sweet and smokey meatloaf, whipped potatoes, frazzled onions, coleslaw, buttermilk biscuit smothered in maple butter) and the Poutine ( smothered in brown gravy cheese and hollandaise drizzle). placed the order with the friendly waiter who said it would be ready in about 15 minutes. While waiting, I noticed the restaurant getting filled pretty quickly, considering it wasnt quite dinner yet.Although there was a lot of outdoor seating, most decided to dine indoors.Food was ready and got my takeout. Just by the aroma, I could tell this was going to be something else.So how was the meal? All the dishes were good. My wife liked the chicken. I found the meatloaf really good, even if it didnt have accompanying gravy).Poutine was good as well and it kinda reminded me of a similar dish I had in Brussels.Really cannot believe I waited this long to try Jacob Pickles dishes. They are certainly worth the wait. And they are huge portions as well. If you are in the neighborhood, I recommend this place. I would suggest to go early as its pretty popular and tables fill up quickly.

  • Review 161 (2024-07-22 - Rating: 5)

Highly recommend! We have been dining at Jacob’s Pickles since they opened in 2011, and they have been a reliably delicious and fun place to dine (brunch, lunch and dinner!). Doesn’t seem like you can go wrong with anything off their menu but we can personally vouch for the Chicken & Pancakes, Honey Chicken & Pickles, Mushroom Gravy Smothered Chicken, and Hot Chicken Biscuit! Their large house salad is also a great side (delicious dressing!). Generous portions will ensure you’re satisfied and/or have some tasty leftovers to bring home.

  • Review 162 (2023-03-19 - Rating: 5)

Food was outstanding. It was quite a wait for the take out. The chicken biscuit sandwiches were 9.6/10, pickles 8.9, Mac and cheese 8.7. Only thing I didn’t like was they don’t give you an accurate estimated time to wait. We ended up waiting a good 20 min. After getting there 15 min after it was said to be ready for pick up. I understand they are poppin though.

  • Review 168 (2019-03-03 - Rating: 5)

We were walking through NYC on the last day of our visit and this sounded like a good place to grab brunch. Be warned, the portions are huge! There were 3 of us and had we known, we probably could have shared one dish and had more than enough. I had the BLT which was fried chicken (like half a chicken!) with perfectly crispy bacon, crunchy fried green tomatoes, a delicious slaw, on a biscuit. It came with a small bucket of cheesy grits. My friends plates were just as ginormous and equally delicious.

  • Review 169 (2021-03-14 - Rating: 5)

We ordered brunch, 2 entrees which we ended up eating for dinner later as well. The portions were huge! Taste was amazing and the music was a tad bit too loud. We got Rosemary vodka lemonade which definitely was a great start to the day. For the sides, Grits were fantastic cheesy and creamy.

Tuesday night after a very tiring day, I found this restaurant while looking for a something to eat and relax. Went there around 11 pm, ordered the raspberry vodka lemonade and the mouth watering dessert, bread pudding with pumpkin spice ice cream. It was huge and I am glad that my server informed me about that.I was craving for that sweet treat. And so glad I got it. Only finished the ice cream, and took a few bites of the pudding. Rest of it I packed and enjoyed while walking the streets of NYC the next day. Will try to get there again when I visit NYC.Loved the asthenosphere too, and seemed it is pretty popular among young people

  • Review 171 (2022-09-01 - Rating: 4)

I got a couple of specialty cocktails with a friend. They were all well mixed, flavorful and surprisingly alcoholic. We got the fried pickles, and beets for apps. The batter is similar to a pancake fish batter. Both were delicious.I had fish tacos that were well seasoned but had a little more fluid then I liked. They sort of made a mess and I finished eating them with a fork.My friend had shrimp and grits. They were nearly unsalted which she didnt like but said 3 out 5.Overall I would visit again. Both as a nice neighborhood restaurant and a unique southern restaurant.

I have been going to Jacob’s Pickles since 2016, and I love it! The food consistency remains the same which is amazing, and which is why I keep bringing people back here.Their Mac & Cheese is to die for. Their biscuits are amazing! It’s just so damn good!Cocktails are great, different but great. Please note, they don’t have small portions, they’re quite large and hefty, you’ll leave out of their feeling guilty that you ate as much as you did, but satisfied and content that you tasted what you did.

Wow. Awesome space with cool music and a nice vibe. Most importantly, the food is delicious and plentiful. My wife and I got the fried pickles appetizer, a spicy chicken sandwich, and a breakfast platter. The fried pickles were good, but we were blown away when served with our entrees. The platter had so much food that, at the end, it looked like my wife barely ate anything. The fried chicken sandwich was stacked so high that I imagine it cannot actually be eaten as a sandwich. Would definitely come again for another meal. Recommendations are a must for busy times/days.

Pickles are awesome, portions are super big so be careful when ordering. Theres usually a large line except on rainy days. God southern food and quite good services. They replaced my ribs as they werent hot enough. Meatloaf remains the best choice for me. Fish tacos are ok, and the burger sandwich was also good flooded with fries. The place is a bit noisy if youre expecting a romantic evening.
