    This was such an amazing find! The service is warm, and the food is exactly what you would hope it would be. The restaurant itself is very quaint and well apportioned, and you do not feel like you are sitting so close to someone that you could share food. It was a great place to have a quiet evening meal. Service was very prompt, and always made you feel welcome. The food itself was perfectly cooked and very well flavored. And given the fact that you can get a reservation last minute, you just can’t pass this place up. Joseph’s is definitely a hidden gym.

    From the outside this place doesnt look inviting, but we descended the steep staircase anyway and were welcomed into a nicely appointed space and seated right away. what a surprise! everything from the complimentary olives and bread, the wine and the entrees were way better than we expected! I had the chicken scarpariello and Jenny had the eggplant parm and both were excellent! attentive and friendly service. this turned out to be one of the finest dining experiences weve had all year. thanks!

    What a gem! We had a meeting a few blocks away, found this on Google Maps, it looked interesting with Northern Italian cuisine. Early on a Wednesday evening—No reservation no problem. Great service from the staff, (many from Albania) wonderful atmosphere. Joseph’s is a gem. Food was excellent. Wine was great. Service very friendly, and accommodating.

    The Bass, it was delicious, skin was crispy and was just cook perfectly! Waiters were very efficient, definitely recommend.

    Nice Italian place with a really sweet ambiance. Nice and welcoming . Really cute bar, interesting service with so many people on the service, but a little disoriented. The one thing I dont like is when your waiter is topping up your glass with water every second, I get it, they want you to spend a lot of money on the expensive sparkling water, but common you cannot be that aggressive.The food is good, nice pasta and appetizers, a great place to get together with coworkers and have dinner and a drink.

    Amazing restaurant. For valentines they have those amazing raviolis is shape of hearts 😍Service is excellent. The main course - chicken had very very very tasty Sauce ( I forgot the name). And my fave appetizer buffalo mozzarella was fantastic. Highly recommend.Selection of wine and alcohol is very satisfactory

    Nice decor. Scrumptious food. Free homemade liquor tasting. Good atmosphere. One of us had the branzino, it is cooked whole and first delivered to the table then taken to the side to be de-boned and filleted and served again on a plate but still sizzling. Servers are very welcoming and courteous. Perfect place for groups.

    Visiting town with relatives and tried this restaurant for lunch. Very nice inside, staff very professional. Food was excellent. The only thing that I found weird was when my check was brought to table for a party of 5, there was a 20% gratuity already added to the ticket. I found it a little insulting as if they did not think that I was going to tip adequately but they short changed themselves because I was planning on tipping 30%. Have only experienced that with large parties before. Maybe it is a NY thing

    A first-class dining experience!Started with a selection of appetizers - the grilled octopus was extraordinary, shrimp, burrata with prosciutto and figs, and fried calamari, all recommended.     We loved everything about this restaurant. It has a very nice atmosphere, the service is great with very attentive staff. I had the pork chops and have to say, it was one of the best pork chops I have ever had. My girlfriend had the mussels and she loved them. I highly recommend this restaurant.

    My partner and I are from Atlanta, GA we spent Valentines Day in New York City and would like to say that the experience we had at Josephs Restaurant was amazing. From the top of the staff to the bottom: coat check, host, manager, servers, and especially chef, you did a stellar job. The attention to detail was impeccable. The food and presentation astounding. The ambiance, superb. You set the stage for one of the best Valentines Days Ive ever had. We will be back and thank you so much for the delightful time.

    Excellent service! Delicious food and nice ambiance, but the service was superb. Our server Idli was a fantastic young men who assured everyone is well taken care of. All staffs were fabulous.     Amazing food, lovely ambiance, not our first time visiting and definitely not our last!We split their appetizer special scallops stuffed with crab meat and it was absolutely sublime! Highly recommend! I had a veal steak with vegetables and it was melt in your mouth soft, very tasty and a lot! I shared it with my 23 years old son who can handle super large quantities of food even after eating an entire fillet of branzino. My mom had lobster ravioli and it was also very good. Overall a great experience as usual

    Very attentive staff, and cozy feeling restaurant. We had the fixed price dinner. Very good value. Wife had Shrimp, Bass and cheesecake. All were excellent. I had the eggplant, which was smaller and arrived splatted on the plate. Tasted ok though. Hanger steak was perfect. But the pasta and sauce were just ok. Tirmatsu was a big portion and delicious. Highly reccomend.

    Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in FIDI - Josephs Restaurant. This cozy, hidden gem near Wall Street has absolutely amazing food. The tallest, Ukrainian bartender made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. Highly recommend!

    Ive lived in the neighborhood for nearly a decade and just dined at Josephs for the first time. This is a very classy, yet relaxed restaurant that sits right at Hanover Square. Even though I completely filled up on the shrimp scamp, I still enjoyed the veal chop for my entree.

    Absolutely FANTASTIC! I love the basement level of the restaurant, it gives off an intimate and speakeasy feel. The entire staff is wonderful. Very professional and welcoming. The food is amazing, the perfect comfort food of northern Italy. I highly recommend the grilled octopus to start. As a first dish the garganelli with meat balls (the pasta is homemade and cooked perfectly), for the mail dish the veal chop. And don’t forget to leave room for sorbet!

    We had the best time here last night! We live locally but have never tried it. Last night we had the absolute pleasure of eating there.     Ive visited Josephs many times and the food has always been exceptional. Service is excellent. Restaurant is located below ground and you can feel a little claustrophobic/ cave dweller. However the food and service make it worth the trip.

    Fabulous food and great service, they’ll treat you as a human being and your food with respect. They do beef, even thoug it is an «Italian» restaurant. They have everything, really. A little on the expensive side, but I blame low NOK exchange rate for that mostly. Deserts are traditional, nothing too fancy, but home made and delicious, this is not from the freezer.

    Absolutely spectacular! This is my favorite Italian restaurant in New York. I eat here every year for work meetings and have only had extremely good meals. I recommend either the beat salad or caesar salad to start and either the salmon or pasta special for the main course. Everything is cooked to perfection. Most of all, the service is impeccable. Pro tip: reserve one of the quiet private rooms if you have a group. It is one way to make a large restaurant even more intimate.

    We were a party of 12 with six young kids visiting from Georgia. As soon as we entered we could tell it was a really nice restaurant by the setting and clientele and were a little apprehensive with six kids in tow. But the restaurant manager and servers were kind, attentive and extremely accommodating and the food was really flavorful, authentic Italian. Great meal, excellent service. We would certainly come here again and highly recommend this place. Thank you!!

    Ive eaten at few restaurants in New York, but this is probably my favorite. Reasonably priced. Fantastic atmosphere. Incredible staff. Its very intimate and the food is tremendous. Their special of veal must be tried to be believed and their tiramisu must be the best Ive ever had.

    My wife and I JUST got back from our dinner, and it was FABULOUS. Food was first-rate, and service (as noted by other reviewers) was phenomenal. Example: upon sitting down, my wife was cold, as we were seated under a vent. Without her SAYING anything, our waiter noticed that she was hugging her arms, and asked if she was chilly - and then adjusted the vent so she would be warmer! Talk about keen attentiveness! More germane to a restaurant review, the food was fantastic. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli. Honestly, I cant think of a way in which in could of been better: perfectly seasoned, piping hot, deliciously sauced. I had to restrain myself from licking my plate. My wife had the Gnocchi, which also was top-shelf. Ricotta cheese cake accompanied by Limoncello was the perfect finale. All in all, a FIRST RATE meal with A+ service - all for $100 (this included a delicious cheese appetizer, AND wine). Incredible. HIGHLY recommended. And to think: we were in town, meeting with my publisher and staying at the Andaz, and just happened to drop by on a whim! What a delightful, happy accident!Second visit, June 21, 2018. I just visited Josephs again, during my annual meeting with my publisher, and it was equally fantastic. Not only is the food delicious, but the SERVICE is simply incredible. The grilled octopus appetizer was THE most tender and tasty octopus I have EVER had, and the lobster pyramids were phenomenal. Despite the change in chef since my first visit, the quality hasnt changed at all - and if anything, was even better.

    We popped into this white table restaurant on a whim for my sons 16th birthday dinner. We were casually dressed but the waitstaff quickly put my two teens at ease. The food, service, and atmosphere were terrific. The eggplant dish my favorite. Then a surprise singing of Happy Birthday and tiramisu for my son from the waiters. Now my son wants to return for future birthdays. And his name is Joseph too!

    A gem in the heart of the financial district. Warm on Leons, beautiful dacor, very cozy and the menu is diverse. We had the bronzini fish and the veal scallopini both of which were exquisite.     The best thing I did during this trip to New York was watching MLB and visiting this restaurant. The food was delicious, but it was an amazing experience where I admired the craftsmanship of Italians, a philosophy that has been passed down from generation to generation, from table setting to manners, consideration, and kindness in dealing with guests. This time I came on a honeymoon, but next time I will come with my three children!

    High level restaurant that serves excellent traditional Italian dishes using excellent raw materials at a price that does not seem New York at all (I would dare to say almost cheap but I will limit myself by saying that the quality/price ratio is incredibly advantageous. Another strong point is the interaction with the dining room staff, among which the good Vito stands out, to whom we renew our thanks for the service received. Dont worry: we will be back soon!!!
