We learned about this place from the Top 50 Bars list and got super lucky not to end up waiting in line to get seated. When you walk in, it becomes clear that the place has its own style and charm. It’s just a great atmosphere to absorb the vibe. The staff helps too—huge kudos to the very entertaining bartenders! We ordered two signature cocktails: an Amaretto Sour and a Panda Fizz. I honestly loved both of them. It was a great and quite interesting taste when all the ingredients were assembled together in a creative mix that plays with your taste buds. I never thought I would say this, but the taste was even intriguing! For snacks, we had deviled eggs and popcorn fujimi chicken. To be honest, the deviled eggs were just okay, but the chicken was a blast! So good, I mean, soooooo good. I might still crave it.Overall, I definitely recommend this place!

Its a fun bar! Loved the funky Japanese decor. Came here with a friend at around 7 on a Tuesday and it was only a short 10 mins wait for a seat at the bar. I liked that it wasnt too crowded at the time and I was able to catch up with my friend. The drinks were good and I enjoyed them, but I was expecting something more special. They have interesting choices, but the unique ingredients did not shine and my cocktail tasted kind of just like other cocktails I have at other bars and not particularly memorable.

  • Review 3 (2024-09-06 - Rating: 4)

Nice cocktail bar. Drinks are good, large choice of drinks. Service could be better, had to ask several times to get a spot at the bar although there was space.

  • Review 4 (2024-12-15 - Rating: 4)

Fun spot for drinks and small eats. The Azuki Horchata holiday special was fantastic. Loved the cat with a hat glass.

  • Review 5 (2024-12-31 - Rating: 5)

Katana honestly brings me so much joy. The bartenders and the atmosphere here are both top tier. One of my favorite bars in the city! It might be a little pricey but totally worth it!!!Definitely try the Panda Fizz and calamari!

  • Review 6 (2024-09-01 - Rating: 5)

Had to wait about an hour to get in, but the drinks were very good! The amaretto sour was a standout, and the nori fries were excellent as well. Wouldn’t recommend the martini, but everything else was great!

  • Review 7 (2024-06-02 - Rating: 5)

This place was on my bucket list for quite sometime and I am glad I finally went. The vibe is amazing and the service was top notch as well. All three cocktails I got were also amazing the Toki Highball, Melon-Lime Soda and the Bear Friends (because as Excalibur says, you gotta give the people what they want)Also got the Nori Fries and Popcorn Chicken which were incredible as well.

  • Review 8 (2024-06-11 - Rating: 4)

Finally went to Katana kitten! Some decent cocktails - we had the martini, amaretto sour and a couple of other cocktails.. amaretto sour was the stand out! But the others were just ok.. the fries were nice.. service was slow even on a slow-ish afternoon.. not sure if Id rate them in the Top 50 bars of the world

  • Review 9 (2024-11-21 - Rating: 5)

Drinks awesome, only exception was that the swizzle is too sweet for my taste, but service and vibe more than outweighed any cons. Loved ittttIs it worth all the hype? Definitely.Vibe, checkWaitress-awesomeBartenders-quick with all of our (different) cocktailsManager amazing. thank you, thank you!

  • Review 10 (2024-07-14 - Rating: 5)

The best cocktail place to go with someone you want to impress, if that makes sense. Every house cocktail is so creative and well balanced. The food is also pretty solid.I was a bit sad to see they took the panda fizz off the menu as it was their best drink but honestly, any drink you order will be an absolute banger.

  • Review 11 (2024-04-27 - Rating: 5)

Amazing cocktails in a fun and comfy setting. We came here on a Friday after dinner, we didn’t have a reservation so we had to wait for approximately 20mins which was not bad. They have a set of drinks called highballer, they are light, fizzy and delicious. They have soda as one of the bases, which the other cocktails don’t have. I ordered one with melon and matcha and it was amazing.

  • Review 12 (2024-03-03 - Rating: 5)

Loved the atmosphere, so much fun decor! We got the panda fizz and it was delicious but not strong. Will definitely come back to try other drinks and snacks!

  • Review 13 (2024-12-24 - Rating: 5)

Love the drinks here! All of the ones we tried were on point.

  • Review 14 (2024-04-26 - Rating: 5)

Such a cool place! Went on a Thursday afternoon around 5:30PM and it was busy but not crazy. A solid after-work crowd. I came here hilariously after being recommended by a different cocktail bar (shoutout to Superbueno!) for their highballs. Looked at the menu and was sold. Um, hello nori fries with Japanese curry? I ordered a highball first, the melon-lime soda per bartender recommendation. It has matcha and gin and was absolutely delicious. Switched to the amaretto sour after and that was somehow even better. Savory, creamy thanks to the egg white, supremely well balanced. The nori fries are enormous, Id recommend sharing or arriving hungry. I ran out of gravy halfway through and the bartender summoned some miso mayo. GET THE MISO MAYO. Its salty, its a tiny bit funky, its savory as heck. Just do it. This spot is legit. I dont know how busy it gets on weekends, but its a delightful place with excellently crafted cocktails and food.

  • Review 15 (2024-02-10 - Rating: 5)

Showed up 4pm on a Saturday solo and was able to sit almost immediately. Im a sucker for calpico drinks and the panda fizz was on the spot. They didnt have the calpico swizzle which is a blue tikki style drink in some photos, I presume itll be back in summer. I also had the meguroni #2, very good. The mortadella katsu sando with the mustard sauce was really nice with the meguroni. By 5pm it was a little crowded upstairs but theres also a downstairs space with tables for groups. Bartender was friendly and recommended some other spots too. Prices werent offensive.

  • Review 16 (2023-09-24 - Rating: 4)

Its a great place with a nice vibe. Drinks priced at about $17-$22 mostly. It can get pretty crowded, though the ushers try to ensure that it doesnt get overtly crowded. The service is polite and efficient. The drinks are superb, though it can take a while to get your drink because if how crowded it gets and the fact that there are usually just 2 bartenders behind the counter. Seating is quite limited as the space is small. Another thing you should probably know if that there are just 2 unisex bathroom stalls and the queue can be quite long.Overall, a really nice place. But do I personally see it as one of the worlds 50 best bars? Hmmm, no. At least not on the night that I visited them anyway.

  • Review 17 (2023-05-21 - Rating: 4)

Katana Kitten is definitely a fun spot, with dive bar vibes and fun cocktails. The wait was about 30 minutes on a Thursday night and we were able to put our name on a waitlist. I didnt end up loving all of the food or drinks we ordered, but that may be down to my personal tastes. Cool spot, would come back if friends specifically wanted to try it out.

  • Review 18 (2024-11-17 - Rating: 5)

Absolutely love this place! The manager Lori is an absolute gem in such an OG New Yorker. If you want the ultimate bar experience like no other in New York City you must stop by here. Also, the bar tender Jamie makes a mean panda fizz.

  • Review 19 (2024-09-06 - Rating: 5)

This is an ideal place to bring someone you want to wow. Every signature cocktail is wonderfully creative and expertly balanced. The food is also quite enjoyable. I was slightly disappointed to find that the Panda Fizz had been taken off the menu, as it was their highlight drink, but honestly, whatever cocktail you order is guaranteed to be a winner.

  • Review 20 (2023-03-21 - Rating: 5)

This is one of my favorite place to grab a drink in NYC. It’s got the feel of two different establishments. There is a cool, relaxed bar upstairs and a fun, basement party type of feel downstairs. The sandos are delicious, the deviled eggs are on point, the Amaretto Sour is by far my favorite drink, and I think the clothing they sell is also seriously cool. I’ve bought two of their t-shirts. Make a reservation ahead of time, show up when it opens, or be prepared to wait. This place is popular, and it’s for a good reason!

  • Review 21 (2023-11-02 - Rating: 5)

Didnt get to try any food but the drinks were good got the panda fizz loved the black salt on it! We went during Halloween and they were having an event with a well know bartender from mexico the cocktails were to die for! Happy that i was able to be apart of the event

  • Review 22 (2024-12-09 - Rating: 5)

One of the best cocktail I’ve ever had so far.I highly recommend the Meguroni!

  • Review 23 (2023-02-24 - Rating: 4)

Have had this place on my check-it-out list forever and finally made it there today - right at 4pm as they opened. I was the first one in but within 10 minutes the place started to fill up. I give it 4-stars for the great staff and the innovative cocktails. That said, its a little too gimmicky for my liking - but I am clearly in the minority (and probably the oldest person in the place). Many of the people around me seemed to be regulars and Katana Kitten has such a warm, welcoming vibe that Im inclined to think that if I lived in the neighborhood, Id come here more often. I had both the Hinoki Martini (Grey Goose vodka, Spring 44 Mountain gin, fino sherry, junmai daiginjo, and hinoki tree essence) which comes in a spectacular presentation and the Meguroni which is their take on a negroni. I also ordered the charred and savory eggplant (good), the grilled cheese sandwich (meh), and the deviled eggs with salmon roe (FABULOUS). Bottom Line: This is a great scene with a really great vibe but its not MY scene.

  • Review 24 (2023-05-25 - Rating: 4)

Super cute and cozy cocktail bar! Loved the drinks we tried: Panda fizz, meguroni, the highballs, martiniWould recommend for casual drinks. Didnt have to book just walked in and waited about 10mins.The food ( we ordered a katsu sando) was not great but ok if you need something to snack on with alcohol . The food is not the reason to come here..

  • Review 25 (2023-09-07 - Rating: 5)

Great cocktail bar in New York. Laid-back vibe with good food options and well-made drinks. Love how the martini is served on ice, so it stays cold as you drink it—creative way to serve a classic!

  • Review 26 (2023-11-25 - Rating: 4)

Fun place, excellent food & high balls, service and interesting atmosphere. The hostess Marcy and my server Cindy were outstanding! Definitely worth checking out!

  • Review 27 (2024-12-19 - Rating: 5)

Oh Katana Kitten, you prove that those raters know what theyre talking about, great drinks, fast, friendly, and efficient service, always love The Kitten!

  • Review 28 (2023-03-16 - Rating: 4)

This is a fun place for sure! I always have a good time whenever I come here and it’s very lively and good music. It’s a good place to start the night for some drinks when you are going out. I’ve tried most of the drinks and they are pretty good and moderately priced! It gets pretty crowded though.

  • Review 29 (2022-06-19 - Rating: 5)

Laid back bar. Walked in at 2:30 on a Saturday and it was easy to grab seats at the bar. Cocktails were great- everything from the Paloma highball to the meguroni, bees knees, and I ordered off menu for a couple of drinks and was very pleased. The food is also great- loved the calamari and the chicken katsu sando! The staff were very friendly and super attentive. Loved the manga used as wallpaper in the bathroom!

  • Review 30 (2022-12-25 - Rating: 5)

Just tried out this Japanese-inspired cocktail bar in the West Village and it did not disappoint! They have a ton of different highballs and cocktails to choose from, and the atmosphere is so chill. Definitely recommend if youre in the area.PS. I wouldn’t call it an izakaya, becoz it is not!

  • Review 31 (2023-05-02 - Rating: 4)

Outside seats are casual. Staff is friendly and attentive.2023 May update: we walked in on a weekday night and were able to get seated inside right away. Music is so loud you need to raise your voice to have a conversation. However the overall experience was good. El Camino is outstanding!

  • Review 32 (2021-07-22 - Rating: 5)

Amazing spot! Loved every drink and every dish but the ambiance in the basement was the best part. Very cute mini beach set up, colorful string lights, interesting posters everywhere and the music was really on point. My brother came later and said to get him a “cute drink” and I asked the waiter for a cute drink that wasn’t sweet and she knew exactly what to bring (their special martini). Drinks were beautifully presented and it honestly just felt like a fun party. Now every time I’m in the west village I’m going to want to come here!

  • Review 33 (2024-07-14 - Rating: 5)

Lives up to the hype. Some of the best service in the city. Incredible cocktails and the food is also some of the better casual bar food aroundExpect a wait of ~30-40 minutes unless it’s just 2 of you. Put in your name, grab a drink at White Horse Tavern 2 minutes away, then come back once they text you you’re up.Not a place to go to if your group is larger than 5. I think only a couple of tables in the place have more than 4 seats (all in the basement, which is still a lot of fun)

  • Review 34 (2022-11-17 - Rating: 5)

We had a very good time here at my recent trip to NYC, met Masa at a collaboration dinner event in Vancouver this April, and we pretty sure must visit Katana Kitten when we are in New York . We had different kinds of cocktails and highball ,sake, champagne..really tasty and amazing, the ambience so nice in my opinion, especially playing Fleetwood Mac 😊the staff are so friendly and let us enjoyed the best night during our stay in NYC, the special order which not on the menu is awesome, the drink is squeezed prawn head then adding sake, unbelievable flavor ,and the sweet sour prawn is delicious, finished with the deep fried prawn head . and they made celebration drinks also fantastic . Definitely a must visit bar if you are in town

  • Review 35 (2022-09-13 - Rating: 5)

I forget the names of what we ordered- but heres pics where you can clearly see the presentation is pretty great. Tasty also!Decent snacks as well. A bit cramped depending on where you sit, but the interior is super charming.

  • Review 36 (2024-10-02 - Rating: 5)

This is an A+ place purely for the vibe and very limited selection in drinks. Katana menu is not overwhelming and drinks are fairly limited - you will notice a lot of folks getting a beer in spite of their craft in cocktails. They are simple and very strong Japanese influence. Masa Urushido is very involved and a nice human. Recently I had the meguroni, sunnyday, hinoki martini and amaretto sour. All fantastic.

  • Review 37 (2023-04-10 - Rating: 4)

I’d say it’s fun to go with a few friends. Busy spot and aesthetically pleasing. Price range makes sense for the location but I had only wanted to go because I had heard so many good things abt their drinks but was disappointed to see such a limited drink menu. All the drinks we ordered were good to look at but tasted like 50% sour mix which I’m not a fan of :( very attentive and friendly staff tho and nice crowd

  • Review 38 (2024-08-13 - Rating: 4)

This place is a blast! 💥 Loved the fun 80’s and 90’s songs playing while we were there. The Cure, Violent Femmes, Joy Division, Cindy Lauper, Tom Petty, David Bowie. Brittany Spears. Lol I felt so happy. My friend and I tried to count the money on the ceiling. I got up to $420. I need to go back and count again. Nice cold Japanese beer. 🍻 Good appetizers. Staff were friendly ish. Good late night spot after everything else is starting to close.

  • Review 39 (2022-05-22 - Rating: 4)

Went here a few months back just when things were opening up again. If you get the fries, ask for the curry to go with it. I know, it sounds crazy but life is short and things like this should be explored.Calpico Swizzle - tikki. Okay I hate tiki drinks but I love them when Im back home in the Caribbean. This is fkn refreshing. It is on the sweet side though, so ladies will love it.Meguroni - served in a Japanese tea cup, this take on a negroni is insanely delicious - made with sochu, aged umeshu, genever, caffo red bitters and kinome. Unique.Ameretto Sour - smooth, egg yolk well blended, and slight taste of the salted plum makes it a unique take on a classic.New kid on the block but not so new anymore.

  • Review 40 (2024-02-01 - Rating: 5)

Beautiful and amazingly decorated Japanese bar, average priced drinks but I would recommend the Nori Fries! They were amazing.

  • Review 41 (2022-06-29 - Rating: 4)

Interesting cocktails and food menu.Really enjoyed the drinks, food was fine.Chicken wings were probably the nicest thing we had.Nice atmosphere and friendly staff

  • Review 42 (2019-06-17 - Rating: 5)

A great Japanese-style cocktail bar in the west village! They have a small selection of food, but it was of high quality! Both the beef and the chicken skewers were very delicious. Also got the ham and the egg salad sandwiches, and both tasted similar to the bars that Japan have. The deviled egg was good too, and the nori fries was such a good company tot the cocktails. The cocktails were unique and stylish. Each came with different presentation and a good quality ice cube. Tried five of them and each one was good. Be mindful that the bar was sincere - they put a good amount of alcohol in each such that if you usually got dizzy after 3 drinks in an average NYC bar, you only need 2 here.Good and fast service. Good environment!

  • Review 43 (2019-12-22 - Rating: 5)

Truly a place to save on your bars list. Every drink is unique and served in its own glassware/boxware/porcelain 🐈. The bartenders are very friendly (which you dont often expect for high-end bars), and the music... At least Friday night they were rocking the best 80s tunes. Bonus stars for the thematic Christmas decorations and Nakatomi Plaza 1988 Christmas Party poster.

  • Review 44 (2023-05-02 - Rating: 4)

We left Katana Kitten rather disappointed after being really excited that we were able to make it in fairly quickly on a raining evening. We each had a drink off the signature cocktails list and the highballs list. From the drinks we had, we enjoyed the Panda Fizz and Sakura Highball the most. One of the big disappointments to us was the signature cocktails section. These drinks are riffs on classics, but I feel like the bar team is stronger than just having their spins on classics. Id love to see additional signatures that are truly their own (as opposed to making a classic their own). Our other disappointment was when asking our server for a recommendation to end the night with and she brought back a Slowpitch Paloma, which was basically a carbonated spicy margarita. All in all, we would probably visit again if we were in the area, but we wont make a point to intentionally include Katana Kitten in our future NYC trips like we did with this one.

  • Review 45 (2021-07-15 - Rating: 5)

Love, Love. Love this placeTiffany at Death & Co told us to come here and she was so right.Drinks were fantastic, even a bit surprising in complexity. This place was very unassuming but quickly made us believers.Food was great, Nori fries, cucumber salad and Buffalo tofu were awesomeGrilled cheese was very good, but could have been a bit cheesier in our opinion. Flavors were great though. The akadama and amaretto sour were our favorites, don’t be fooled, the sour isn’t like anything we have had before, the plum really changes it.The classic highball was also delightfulAmbiance was an 11 out of 10Staff were incredible too

  • Review 46 (2024-08-04 - Rating: 5)

Great experience and great place to try some unique cocktails. Get a high ball! They make the real deal. It was voted one of the best bars in the world.

  • Review 47 (2023-09-07 - Rating: 4)

Katana Kitten was a good experience. We got martinis and the deviled eggs. The martini was served in a small box of ice which was creative. The drinks were well made and the service quick/friendly. My expectations were higher for being #9 on the World’s 50 Best Bars list, you could probably have the same cocktails/experience at many other bars in NYC.

  • Review 48 (2022-07-28 - Rating: 5)

It had the best highball I have had in a long time. The bartender was amazing and food was good too. Also if you didnt know this #10 bar in top 50 bars in the world list for 2021.

  • Review 49 (2019-08-22 - Rating: 5)

Must see if you are into cocktails and small bites. Service is stellar, cocktail are interesting and different and ambiance is great for a date, a group of friends or an after work get together.

  • Review 50 (2024-11-25 - Rating: 5)

Izakaya style dive with great service. Drinks & food were good. The Hinoki Martini is a riff of the Vesper; it was tasty a bit on the pricey side. The Panda Fizz was delicious, especially since I like Calpico. The vibes were fun & the music was great. They played old school 90s that night. Overall, I had a great time. I would definitely go back.

  • Review 51 (2023-05-27 - Rating: 5)

Deserved reputation for high quality cocktails - well prepared and strong - at a reasonable cost. As others have stated there is no pretense here. Just a cool spot thats both laid back and highly professional. Worth it.

  • Review 52 (2024-10-30 - Rating: 5)

Great place to grab a craft cocktail. We did a walk-in and sat at the bar, but a reservation might be nice to make. Drinks were good and service was great.

  • Review 53 (2021-12-10 - Rating: 5)

This bar was ranked as number 10 in the 2021 Worlds 50 Best Bars. Ive been here before and loved my experience, so I was glad to see it receive this acclaim. The staff are friendly, it has a decent inner space, and it has a great food and cocktail selection at a standard price ($16-$17 cocktails). The environment is cozy and can be great for a first date as well as an after-work hangout with coworkers or friends. Try to get there before the 5 p.m. rush if youre going during the workweek.

  • Review 54 (2024-12-24 - Rating: 5)

Amazing experience. Great food and service

  • Review 55 (2021-12-06 - Rating: 5)

Delicious cocktails in a really cool space. Didn’t get to try the food, but the drinks were great! Lots of options including high balls, which are so good.

  • Review 56 (2023-11-09 - Rating: 5)

Fits the brief of being that local bar vibe but serving up great tasting Japanese inspired cocktails. Looked like a large whiskey collection as well. I’d recommend

  • Review 57 (2024-04-11 - Rating: 4)

Good drinks, good atmosphere, its always a bit too crowded for my taste but it depends on what youre looking for in a bar.

  • Review 58 (2022-09-20 - Rating: 4)

Its a very cool bar. Calpico Swizzle has a ton of flavor and great tiki vibes. Whatever they put on top and on the cherry has a punch. Best Amaretto Sour Ive ever had. The plum is refreshing. The vibe is cool but maybe its just that it was a Sunday but it felt a little too laid back for me. Still, loved the drinks and the servers were great.

  • Review 59 (2024-03-10 - Rating: 5)

Incredible experience. Love the bar. Drank an amaretto sour and it was amazing. Service was incredible. Woukd highly recommend

  • Review 60 (2020-02-09 - Rating: 5)

Great retro 80s music. Excellent, creative cocktails (particularly loved the meguroni). We got there about 9pm on a Saturday night and were able to get seats downstairs, even though upstairs was already packed.

  • Review 61 (2022-01-07 - Rating: 5)

Cocktails were made to perfection. We went just after they opened at 4pm on a Thursday, and there were 2 other clients. Im sure it gets busier later in the night/week.we also ordered the burger and cheese grill which were delicious too!

  • Review 62 (2024-04-17 - Rating: 4)

This is a very trendy spot right now, so be ready for a wait! The melon-lime soda ($18) was delicious, although not very strong. Theres a great selection of small bites. We tried the deviled eggs ($10) and nori fries ($9), both delicious and went great with drinks. The sandwiches are also packed! The music was extremely loud, and combined with the fact that it was busy, its not the best place for catching up, as another reviewer noted below. However, for those looking for drinks/snacks with a clubbier vibe, this would be a good option!

  • Review 63 (2023-10-14 - Rating: 4)

Drinks are so delicious! Fries come in large portion. I wish they didn’t serve food in paper plates.

  • Review 64 (2024-07-18 - Rating: 5)

I will definitely come back here when I’m in the city again. Food, drinks, music & atmosphere were on point. Cool spot with cool decorations 🐱.

  • Review 65 (2024-05-19 - Rating: 5)

Great place for some fun drinks! We got the nori fries while we were here and they were pretty great. I cant wait to visit again and try more of their food options!

  • Review 66 (2022-08-15 - Rating: 5)

An American dive with Japan in its DNA - Katana Kitten is not a scene like Dante up the street or Employees only, but it is a relaxing spot to get a first rate cocktail. The food is not as great as the spirits, so focus on the drinks - highballs are refreshing and they dry martini comes with its own bed of ice.

  • Review 67 (2022-09-26 - Rating: 5)

Japanese 80’s dive bar meets cocktail lounge. The drinks were good, but the nori fries were amazing.

  • Review 68 (2022-11-18 - Rating: 5)

I love amaretto sour. This place is always busy. I came on Tuesday that a rainy day. Still waiting for the table. But it is worth the wait.

  • Review 69 (2022-07-12 - Rating: 5)

Love this bar. Always a great time. Bartenders and servers are friendly and fun. Cant go wrong with the amaretto sour or the hinoki martini.

  • Review 70 (2024-06-25 - Rating: 5)

Always a great time at Katana Kitten. The highballs are perfect for the fries and karage. Fun atmosphere and good drinks. Also a great spot to start your evening of bar hops in the area (or end it).

  • Review 71 (2022-05-13 - Rating: 5)

Awesome drinks vibe and service!! Calamari is good but I think the tofu was a bit lacking

  • Review 72 (2022-06-21 - Rating: 5)

Super friendly staff. Bartender Neil was so friendly and welcoming. Great drinks & cool vibe. Definitely recommend stopping by for a few.

  • Review 73 (2024-12-20 - Rating: 5)

One of the coolest bars in NYC. Both upstairs and downstairs are good options, both have its own distinct atmosphere.Drinks are tasty, but more importantly they all have a different serving style. I drank more than I should just to see how they gonna serve each drink.Crew is kind and helpful. Its a crowded place in weekends, including day time. Also this bar is considered one of the top bars in terms of its ambiance and drinks, IN THE WHOLE WORLD!

  • Review 74 (2019-03-30 - Rating: 5)

Great burger, perfectly mid rare, delicious fries and Curry sauce, and friendly staff. Good selection of cocktails and drinks, and plenty of small bites, too. Pretty much had everything from liquor to cocktails to sake to beer.

Really excellent cocktail bar.Highballs and martinis were all great, as was the service.

  • Review 77 (2022-12-30 - Rating: 4)

Its a small space with cool cocktails. Top 9 in the world in 22.There will usually be a way but you can wait next door at the bar (which also does cocktails).Order from there signatures menu. Get the milkshake and the negroni/martini.

  • Review 78 (2024-05-30 - Rating: 5)

We stopped for drinks and really enjoyed every drink we ordered. Its a fun atmosphere and nice people. I think this is worth targeting for a stop when in the area or visiting NY.

  • Review 79 (2024-04-09 - Rating: 4)

Cool, dimly-lit bar with a Japanese/American cinema theme. Drinks and food were pretty good. Great service.

  • Review 80 (2024-02-12 - Rating: 4)

TLDR: a bit pricey but different types of highballs in a busy atmosphere, shoutout to Armando the bartenderIt was busy on a Saturday evening around 9:30 but we found a seat at the bar after a few minutes. Armando was our bartender and he was awesome and fun. He took care of everyone quickly and efficiently. The flavors of the highballs were nice, different ones than just the regular highballs.

Amazing and very creative cocktails on a izakaya style decoration with fun decorations. Bartenders are very knowledgeable and will be able to help you choose the best cocktail

  • Review 83 (2024-06-11 - Rating: 4)

Good cocktails, nice service, very loud place

  • Review 84 (2024-11-30 - Rating: 5)

Fantastic cocktails and food! The amaretto sour and Panda Fizz were exceptionally well-made. Our table loved the popcorn chicken and grilled cheese. The vibe and service were both outstanding. We’ll definitely be back!

  • Review 85 (2023-10-22 - Rating: 5)

Visited Katana Kitten and was thoroughly impressed. The panda fizz was absolutely incredible, and the fries with curry sauce are a must-try. I wish I had the chance to try more of their dishes and cocktails! With friendly staff and a laid-back atmosphere, Im looking forward to my next visit to the neighborhood.

  • Review 86 (2022-10-04 - Rating: 5)

This bar has a super cool, unpretentious vibe and great drinks. The melon highball in particular may be one of my all time favorite cocktails now.

  • Review 87 (2023-10-26 - Rating: 4)

Drinks were very good - don’t know that I’d say it’s my all-time favorite cocktail bar in the city (despite making the list of the World’s 50 Best Bars), but the cocktails were still good. Really cool aesthetic and love the music! Fun WV spot

  • Review 88 (2021-05-21 - Rating: 5)

Great drinks and food! Understandable why they are on 50 Best Bars list.

  • Review 89 (2024-05-18 - Rating: 5)

Love the decorations.Went there without reservation on Tuesday evening and found a seat at the bar.Cocktails are typical NYC pricing. Recommend their highballs. I also got their megoruni. I didnt quite like it but the bartender is friendly and accommodated me.

We saw Andy Cohen walking on the way here

  • Review 91 (2024-09-17 - Rating: 4)

Such a funky, fun bar. A great selection of highballs, service is a bit slow.

  • Review 92 (2023-12-18 - Rating: 4)

Went there before this bar was listed as one of the world’s 50 best bars. Honestly I think there are bars in NYC offering better cocktails. Not the kind of Japanese bar I was expecting but still interesting

  • Review 93 (2023-01-03 - Rating: 4)

Interesting variety of cocktails, most were on the sweeter side but still very good. If thats your preference then this place is perfect for you. The food options looked amazing but we only had time to try the seasoned nori fries. Theyre definitely worth getting. Drinks are not cheap but that is to be expected, just something to be aware of.

  • Review 94 (2021-09-23 - Rating: 4)

Friendly bartenders, gave me a crash course in Japanese Whiskey types. The food gets the job done but I think its the cocktails that make this place stand out from the absolutely insane choice of bars in the neighborhood.

  • Review 95 (2024-02-12 - Rating: 5)

Really liked the atmosphere here. Katana Kitten is really popular in the area: the cocktail menu is inspired although not especially disruptive. August provided good recommendations (I tried the Meguroni #2 and the Scotch Ginger & Apple highball). Decorations are Tokyo-themed, music is good but not too loud, definitely a good one to try when in NYC.

  • Review 96 (2023-06-20 - Rating: 5)

The calming red lights and the highballs are really something special. We managed to get in immediately without a line/wait, but it can certainly get busy. Staff very friendly and drinks great, hopefully we get a chance to try the sandos and small bites next time!

  • Review 97 (2022-12-06 - Rating: 5)

Very interesting and delicious cocktails, good food and service.

  • Review 98 (2022-09-14 - Rating: 5)

Great bar!Perfectly made cocktails by a very professional stuff. The service was very nice, and the music created a great vibe.Food was also very good. Also I havent tried the wings, but they looked and smelled amazing. I definitely gonna come back and try them.

  • Review 99 (2023-08-24 - Rating: 5)

What an experience at Katana Kitchen! The vibe is super chill and divy and the cocktails are incredible. We tried server ask and we’re amazed by them all.For snacks, we had the cucumber salad, French fries and popcorn chicken, all were super delicious!Highly recommend checking out this spot for an after work drink with coworkers or even a fun date night out!

  • Review 100 (2024-04-14 - Rating: 5)

One of my fave bars in the west village. Kind of grunge, kind of Japanese, kind of 80s, kind of rock, and a mixed bag of people.I love it.Have only come for drinks but eyeing the katsu sando for 1 late drunk night!

  • Review 101 (2023-10-04 - Rating: 5)

We didn’t order food but the drinks are amazing. I love how they integrate japanese ingredients into the drink. Amaretto sour and el camino are my favorites. One thing I don’t like about this place is that it is SO loud. It’s a dive bar after all but I wish could hangout out with friends without having to scream all night

  • Review 102 (2024-09-30 - Rating: 5)

Great bar! It has a casual and fun ambience with Japanese themes and the servers were all very prompt in taking our orders, filling our waters, checking on us, etc.In terms of drinks, we ordered the Amaretto Sour and Panda Fizz and really enjoyed the former. The fizz was good but a bit too sweet and light on flavors. We highly recommend for a more casual night out in NY!

  • Review 103 (2022-09-02 - Rating: 5)

I loved this place. Their little sandwich sliders were simply epic and satisfying as were their unique drink selections. The signature drinks were alcohol forward, making the alcohol the center stage act while the presentation was unique and something of note. The service was top notch, attentive and something I didnt expect from a cocktail bar in the area so Ill certainly be coming back.

  • Review 104 (2024-04-17 - Rating: 4)

The drinks were good but its not as good as I expected. We also got the sando, cucumber, and ribs. The ribs were good but everything elses just ok.

  • Review 105 (2024-11-30 - Rating: 4)

One of the best drinks we had in NYC. Highly recommend the Amaretto Sour. Kind of a dive bar vibe with great cocktails. Would come back. We came after dinner, so we didn’t try any food.

  • Review 106 (2023-11-05 - Rating: 5)

Potential date spotThe Katana Kitten has potential as a good date spot.I went on a rendezvous here to check it out ahead of a potential date.Drinks are at such a price as to give the right impression (not too much and not too little) and their kitchen also serves a variety of foods - such as Nori chips - for, at the least, to leave your date with a new memory and impression that your interests extend beyond beer and burger. They may even, dare I say it, lend a more international image to your credentials. The proprietors have done well with the menu too.It provides a selection of basic drinks, for the more timid, along with some more unique and exciting beverages. For me, I will admit that I stuck to an amaretto sour and a paloma - both of which were delicious! My only qualm with this restaurant was the tip.Sadly, Katana Kitten appears to be hellbent on speeding the decline of society by auto-requesting a 22% tip.As serving staff are among the best paid in New York, this felt a little cheeky.I gave 10% and, to compensate, my friend gave 25%All’s well that ends well!

  • Review 107 (2024-01-17 - Rating: 5)

Really enjoyed the vibe jn here! Very iconic spot

  • Review 108 (2021-11-23 - Rating: 5)

Love everything here. We came for the drinks and the food was also delicious.

  • Review 109 (2022-07-26 - Rating: 5)

Katana Kitten deserves its excellent reputation as one of the worlds best bars. The staff is incredibly kind and accommodating. The chill trendy atmosphere is perfect for a date night, a solo adventure, or group outing (they dont take reservations so you may have to wait for a table as a group, but my group walked right in). The drinks are as delicious as they sound and then some. I loved my Light n Savory! Thanks for a great night!

  • Review 110 (2022-10-02 - Rating: 5)

Cocktails, food, and atmosphere are phenomenal. They have a downstairs section, but the upstairs is more upscale. Its great for a hang with friends or a date. I highly recommend the gin and tonic. The amaretto sour was also delightful. Definitely get the nori fries with curry. Must have. Cant miss. Enjoy!

  • Review 118 (2022-12-27 - Rating: 4)

Nice cute cozy place. Not what I expected...but then again the location is perfect for this type of bar. The cocktails were good but not out of this world and for being stated as a top world bar. Interesting ingredients and combinations. Worth to go once but dont go out of your way.

  • Review 119 (2024-12-18 - Rating: 5)

Splendid cocktail and high ball spot with delicious elevated Chinese bites.A must visit and a must eat in.That sour cocktail with a hint of plump wine is meant to bring you tons of joy on a hot day. Brunch it!

  • Review 122 (2023-02-17 - Rating: 4)

Its a pretty cool place with solid drinks and great service, but Im not sure if its worth the hype. We came by at 11 on a Friday night and were told it would be a 90 minute wait. Thankfully we got in after about an hour and ordered a few drinks and the calamari. The high balls were all pretty good and the calamari is solid, but again, Im not sure if its quite worth the hour wait when there are so many other options available in the neighborhood. A solid bar but nothing to write home about.

  • Review 123 (2024-01-02 - Rating: 5)

Katana Kitten is a new favorite and Im going to be coming back so often after my first visit. I had the Amaretto Sour and how they create their cocktails adds a level of phenomenal complexity, far above your average ingredients. If you havent gone, give it a chance. The first time will not disappoint.

The Panda Fizz was so refreshing and its always so delightful to see pandan in anything. The other cocktails are interesting and the staff is attentive and nice. The space feels cozy and nostalgic with Japanese versions of classic movie posters adorning the walls. Would recommend a visit to your cocktail enthusiasts.

Very casual laid back bar. Love that it is first come first serve and not pretentious at all. No reservations required. Food is decent but highlights are drinks. Tried the panda fizz and martini. Would def come back to try their other drinks like shiso g+t

  • Review 144 (2020-01-16 - Rating: 4)

If you want a drink all over your jacket or bag this is the place for you! I had one on mine within 10 minutes of walking through the door. That said it wasnt the venues fault.Great atmosphere, fun bartenders, all in all I really liked this place. I will say if you like ice you should order the leche de gato but then order another drink to put the ice in because there is no drink. Cocktails are west village priced for sure. I didnt get to try the bites but will probably go back to check them out.

Stellar cocktails and Japanese bar food. Very cool crowd.

  • Review 146 (2021-05-28 - Rating: 5)

They must sprinkle crack into all their food and drinks, because I couldnt get enough of them. The drinks were just the right amount of sweet, food was seasoned perfectly and portioned well so you dont feel like a whale after eating. There are tables outside so you can enjoy the breeze while eating. Great bar for a cute date!

  • Review 147 (2023-01-06 - Rating: 5)

Must try: Panda Fizz and Melon Soda, on top of their usual Toki highball. It’s a bar with no airs and it feels just like a bar you visit on the way home. A bar you can get great and simple cocktail and also be at ease. Rare find in a city like New York.Spent NYE at one of the best bars in NYC. The bonus was that it has flavours that I simply adore: pandan and melon.

  • Review 148 (2022-11-05 - Rating: 4)

Interesting spot with a mix of gritty, no pretense attitude combined with hyper-focused detail and attention to creating unique signature cocktails and variations on the classics. Bartenders are super welcoming and happy to share the approach behind the drink recipes. That being said, don’t come here if you’re looking for a home-run standard classic drink- the variety and uniqueness of the flavors used in their drinks may disappoint some.

  • Review 149 (2023-03-13 - Rating: 4)

Only had one drink here, before dinner at Leitao, but it was made with care, and the staff were very welcoming. My drinking partner was very approving of their martini. Will be back for another visit at some point, but cant imagine my score changing!

  • Review 153 (2021-08-01 - Rating: 5)

One of my favorite bars in New York. Definitely my favorite bar in the West Village by far. The highball cocktails are delicious and a little bit lower ABV, so you can have one or two more than you normally would. The food is delightfully fun and delicious. The owner/bartender, Masa is a ray of sunshine. He makes everybody feel like gold when they walk through the door.

Small intimate space with a lot of cool decor. Its seated only, so make sure to get in early. Cocktails were next level. Got the meguroni #2, an elevated negroni packed with so much flavor. The panda fizz also delicious and the scotch ginger & apple which is exactly what you need on these colder days. The whole team was very welcoming. Ended the night with shots in kitten glasses, hilarious!

  • Review 166 (2022-12-29 - Rating: 5)

Great place!! Went in on a Tuesday evening without reservation, got a table for three quickly on the lower level. ( It is a spacious place with two levels )For food, got the buffalo tofu fingers and mortadella Katsu sando. Both tasted great, the sando especially has a very peculiar yet simple taste. In drinks, got melon lime soda, amaretto sour and panda fizz. All three were great, not too concentrated but good taste, amaretto one is a must try.

  • Review 167 (2023-04-25 - Rating: 5)

Great spot for a drink and appetizer. Beautifully prepared and delicious cocktails.

  • Review 168 (2022-10-20 - Rating: 5)

Niel and Masahiro are an embodiment of hospitality - despite serving dozens of people they still managed to squeeze in some time to quickly check up on us to make sure everything is fine. The drink menu might seem not much but the taste doesnt give much room to complain about anything. If youre hungry then you can also grab a bite here as well.I would recommend: toki highball, Amaretto sour. As for food - you cant go wrong with the nori fries and bbq pork ribs.Bonus points for plastering Bartender manga all over the toilet walls.Theres only one reason I can think of why going to Katana Kitten is a bad idea: you cant stand places with a lot of people.
