We spent New Year’s Eve at L’Antica in the West Village, and it was a fantastic spot to celebrate with friends. The pizza was light and flavorful, with the Diavola standing out as my favorite for its perfect balance of spice. While NYC has more iconic pizza places, this one is definitely solid and worth a visit. The pasta dishes were equally impressive, and the shared appetizers were a great way to kick off the meal. To cap it all off, we indulged in their espresso drink topped with gold—pricey, but it felt perfectly indulgent for a festive NYE dinner. Overall, L’Antica delivered a delicious and memorable experience with great food and a lively atmosphere! -

One of my favorite pizza places. Food tastes the same as in other locations (LA), which makes me sooo happy.Welcoming service. Great menu options. And every dish is delicious. -

Cute ambiance, clean, modern, nice view. Quiet place for lunch. We both got pizza and it was ok. Probably wouldn’t return. Very undercooked. Prices are good though and portions are large. -

The famous Naples pizza joint has come to the US!The pizza is excellent, as expected. The size is Americanized (big!), the dough is thin and chewy, to the true Neapolitan style. The pappardelle was excellent too. -

Excellent pizza from a place that originated in Naples and exported globally. Worth it, prices are a little more than usual but they are a little bigger. On par with NYCs best Neopolitan pizza -

This place is awesome! The pizza was absolutely delicious - pastas were a bit flat for me.FOODWe were a large party and got quite a bit of food. I thought the apps were all very delicious from the caesar salad to the calamari and burrata w/ tomatoes - all very good. The pizzas were the standout. Now, this is classic neopolitan pizza so it was somewhat** hard to eat as it was a bit floppy but the flavor was amazing and the dough was perfectly salted with amazing leapording. The pastas across the board from the pomodoro to the cacio & pepe fell a bit flat for meAMBIANCEThe restaurant is very nice with great lighting perfect for a group dinner or something more intimate.SERVICEExcellent! Our server was incredibly attentive despite a lot of parties on a Thursday evening and was very helpful in navigating the menu.Overall, really enjoyed dinner here and will be back for the pizza! -

The place is located a little far from the commercial areas but the neighborhood is quiet and the place is very nice. The staff is friendly and attentive to the diners.I give it 5 stars because the Margheritta pizza is a very good pizza considering its in New York, not Napoli or other italian place. The double pizza is an ideal size for sharing aswell as the prosciutto and melon salad, which is very fresh and delicious. As for desserts, we chose the tiramisu and the Cannoli bomboloni, the latter being very good although somewhat sweet, so it is ideal to accompany them with an espresso coffee. The drinks are generally good, they have Italian beers and to begin with, they serve water in a very nice bottle.I have read comments that the prices are expensive but for a Mexican like me, any food is expensive in New York, nevertheless this place is worth the visit. -

Came here with a reservation and got seated promptly. Waitstaff if very attentive and the food is definitely worth the price. Interiors are unique (you can watch the kitchen make pizza). Highly recommend the pizzas! -

LAntica Pizzeria Da Michele in Naples, was the best Neapolitan style pizza Ive ever had, so when I found out there was a NYC location, I had to forgo the NY style pizza to try this out. It was near identical to the Naples location. For me Neapolitan pizza doesnt get any better than this. Though the portion in the USA is much bigger than in Italy, haha. I aint complaining though! -

I tried this restaurant in Italy and Dubai. Here it seems the same quality and taste. The service was good and the reception was impressive. There is no need to talk about the food because the picture shows how delicious it was.😋 -

We had a fantastic lunch at LAntica Pizzeria da Michele! The burger was juicy and flavorful, while the gluten-free pasta was cooked to perfection. The setting was charming and inviting, making it the ideal spot to enjoy our meal. The service was top-notch—attentive and friendly. -
Review 13 (2024-02-29 - Rating: 5)
Delicious pizza here. Maybe the best Neapolitan I’ve ever had, although a little soggy in the middle of the pie. I don’t ever use a fork and knife to eat my pizza. I grew up in Mount Vernon, NY on Johnny’s Pizza which is the epitome of a perfect thin crust. Would be better if a little crispier. The fettuccini Genovese was phenomenal, the sauce was hearty and filled with sweet short rib and onion. Our waiter was very professional and honest in helping us make our choices. -
Review 14 (2023-06-06 - Rating: 4)
The recently opened outpost of the acclaimed Naples pizzeria has been a big hit in the west village. While upstairs dining area is vibrant with views of outdoors and the open kitchen and ovens. Downstairs is dark cluby area with music and semi private booths.Wonder if the brick columns and ceiling arches are authentic to the building or decorative for atmosphere. Good calamari and spinach salad. The thin crusted came out next and were a hit, light and crunchy, could polish off 3/4 pie easily. Good service and great food. -

This place is AMAZING. Here in New York, its the BEST, hands down! The pizza is incredible, the salad is flavorful, and the desserts have authentic tastes. EVERY ingredient comes from Italy, and YOU CAN TELL. If youve never been to Italy, or if you miss it after a trip… come here!Ill be back... oh, and I almost forgot: the espresso is outstanding.-An Italian -

LAntica Pizzeria Da Michele NYC is an upscale, brick-oven pizzeria and restaurant located in the West Village section of New York City.Ishmael, the host that also doubles as a server greeted me and showed me to my seat quickly and with a huge smile. He passed me off to Katya, the bartender, who made me an amazing old fashion. I am very particular about my old fashions and this one was remarkably delicious, slightly smoky, sweet, but not too sweet, and with a depth that made the drink very interesting. I had two!The pizza is handmade and made to order. I love the margherita pizza but wanted extra garlic, oregano, and mozzarella. My special order was no issue. Along with the pizza I ordered meatballs.I wanted the meatballs to come out first as an appetizer. They were like my moms! The sauce, to me, is just as important as the meatball and both were delicious. The pizza came out piping hot from their imported from Italy brick oven. It is obvious that they use quality ingredients. The crust was thin and lightly dusted with pizza soot, a sign of an authentic Roman pizza. Every bite was delicious. I had to force myself to leave some to takeaway. The pizza really is large enough for two but can be eaten by one very easily, because it is so good.I will be rating this amazing pizzeria and Italian restaurant with 5 stars and putting them down as one of my new favorite places in New York City. -

Amazing experience at LAntica Pizzeria Da Michele. Weve been to the original location in Naples as well as their outposts in Florence and Venice but this was our first time in the NYC location.Ambiance is definitely much more upscale than the Italian counterparts but its not stuffy or pretentious. The food is definitely on par with the Italian locations. Our meal transported us back to Italy. Service was friendly and quick. The Marinara was excellent as always - Calamari is solid as well.If you like traditional Italian pizza, this place is a must. If you dont and are more partial to NYC style pizza, give it a shot and you might just convert! -
Review 18 (2023-02-21 - Rating: 4)
3.5 / 5.0 - Napoli pizza is one of my favorite foods and Ive been to da Michele in Naples and Tokyo. They both had a casual pizzeria vibe, although the one in Tokyo was much pricer. So I was super excited about this new location in NYC expecting a similar experience, but it was completely different.Da Michele in West Village was very stylish, with a modern, chic atmosphere. It was quite spacious, with a larger dining area in the back with high ceilings and plenty of space in between each of the tables. There were several families and groups, as well as couples. It threw me aback because there was no resemblance to the original one in Naples or to any other Napoli pizzeria Ive been to, which are cozier and more casual. Dont get me wrong, I love classy establishments--it just felt like there was a slight disconnect. My bf and I came for lunch today and ordered:- Margherita ($22+)- Beet Salad ($20+)The service was attentive, although quite slow. They asked us if we wanted the salad first or with the pizza, so we asked for the salad first. The Beet Salad was large and tasty, although it had a little too much dressing. There was enough to share amongst 3-4 people--itd be great if they had a half-size for 1-2 people. As for the dressing, would recommend asking for it on the side. After we finished our salad, they changed our plates and silverware, which was nice. But it did take such a long time for the Margherita pizza to be served. When it finally came, it was huge and the ingredients were of high quality. The pizza itself was not well-made, though. The crust was not very airy & fluffy and the sauce or the dough was too salty. We had some leftover slices, which they placed in a nice pizza box for us to take home.Trying to get the check took the longest time. And what really downgraded the whole experience was their pay-at-table credit card machine and process. At our table and other tables, the server brought out the machine and confirmed each order, announcing the total bill loud enough for other tables to hear. The ambiance was perfect for a date, but using a credit card machine to pay at the table and having the total amount recited felt out of place for a restaurant with such a classy vibe.Hopefully, after some initial growing pains, there will be some adjustments made to enhance the quality and experience. -

Excellent Napoli style pizza.NYC has much great pizza to its useful to have the right expectations. If you do - youll enjoy this gem. This is the very thin, charred, soft crust pizza that is currently found in Napoli VS a NY slice. I enjoyed my pie but found it to be too large for 1 person (the portions have been scaled up). Also next time Ill ask for mine to be more well done / charred - but thats more a personal preference. I also had the Tiramisu which was excellent. My server was friendly & helpful. Orders came out very quick. Recommended. -

What a lovely restaurant. It was raining and I had forgotten my umbrella, the hostess Karissa graciously loaned me her umbrella so I could run to CVS to get an umbrella. Karissa was so kind and helpful. Will definitely be coming back. -
Review 24 (2023-07-04 - Rating: 5)
Renowned pizza institution from Naples, Italy, LAntica Pizzeria Da Michele, recently opened a new location in NYCs West Village. The sprawling space features an open kitchen where vou can see the Neapolitan-style pies enter the large customized pizza oven. Many of the ingredients are imported from Italy, but everything is made in house and it shows in the quality and freshness of each dish.Even though the classic Margherita with tomato, fior di latte, pecorino, and basil was out of this world, I was seriously impressed by how great the other menu items were too! The Carciofi Salad with castelvetrano shaved artichokes, pistachio, pecorino romano, and lemon dressing was amazing and the Spaghetti Nerano was one of the best pastas I have had this year.Of course, we had to pair the iconic Italian dishes with some great Italian wine. I started with a glass of Fiano di Avellino rom Rocca del Principe, which went very well with the salad and the pasta. I also tried the Alois Lageder Schiava, a lovely medium-bodied red that was great with the pizza! -

Brick dome gas oven. Great pizza, very thin crust with sweet sauce. Crust is so thin you will need a fork and knife for the first few bites. Two types of cheese mozzarella and pecorino. Eat and enjoy! -

Feels like an authentic Italian pizzeria! Saying this from the experience of spending a week in Italy 3 months ago :) I never ate pizza with a fork and knife, and got used to it in Italy. 3 months later, I did it for the first time after returning from Italy - and it was this place that transported me back there. Our host was very friendly and quintessential Italian too. The serving size was generous, pizza was tasty and bill was comfy. Would love to visit again, and highly recommend to you if you’re craving authentic Italian! -

I stopped in to have a margarita pie and posted a premature review of this establishment. Upon further research; a traditional margarita pie is supposed to be a bit tomato-y and saucy. I had no clue. My review i posted initially stated i wasnt impressed with the pie because I felt it was saucy. It was tasty. My past review was misinformed because of what I thought a margarita pie should taste like in my mind, as well as the feel & texture. I was wrong. This is traditional pizza. The drink was strong. I believe I had the sciciian with basil in it. Tasty and strong -

As italian living in New York, I can say that the pizza is good. The toppings used are fresh and tasty. The location is very nice. The prices are a bit high, but average for New York. -
Review 29 (2023-11-26 - Rating: 4)
The gnocco fritto was unexpected the crunchy pizza dough burrata was the perfect bite, the scallops didnt disappoint although the topping can use less salt. The craft beer is tasty, try the kbirr assafa lager. -
Review 30 (2023-08-25 - Rating: 5)
The food and service here were amazing. It is an authentic Italian restaurant with roots in Napoli . Our waitress was wonderful and our food came out quickly. We got the meatballs and the diavola pizza with burrata both of which I would recommend. Will definitely be back! -
Review 31 (2024-10-31 - Rating: 5)
A classic Neapolitan pizza, with their original location still in Naples Italy, comparable to the best Neapolitan pizza restaurants in NY including Ribalta and Song E Napule. The pizzas have a very thin and tender crust, and a high quality sauce and fresh mozzarella cheese, with a good selection of toppings including mushrooms, artichokes, and arugula. The decor of the restaurant is of tasteful high quality with an antique yet modern look, with plenty of light through the large glass windows on one of the nicest streets in the west village (bank street by greenwich ave). The restaurant also features local events including pizza making classes for adults, and events for children. -
Review 32 (2024-09-14 - Rating: 4)
We had a lovely time at LAntica. The atmosphere was relaxed but upscale. The food was a little bland and the pizzas were softer than we typically like. That said, it was a nice spot for a last minute reservation. -
Review 33 (2023-04-30 - Rating: 4)
Mid century modern interior, new American and Italian. bistro style tables. airy room with big windows facing streets. We got diavola pizza with burrata. It’s enough for two to share. pizza dough is a bit too stretched resulting in a moisturized texture. Other than that it’s great. Salami and basil tasted flavorful and fresh. -
Review 34 (2023-02-25 - Rating: 5)
Pizza looks large but its thin and very light. If youre very hungry, then order your own. Fresh ingredients! One of a kind experience to have a pizza just like the one in Napoli. Recommend to make a reservation in advance or get the pizza to go. -

If you are thinking about pizza in nyc, this should be on your list. Why I rate this place highly:1. Service is excellent. Attentive staff2. Ambience is good3. Pizza was done just right, we ordered the Diablo. Thin crust, right sauce, baked just right. So thin and flaky that it was literally downright messy to eat. The way pizza ought to be.4. Grilled octopus was juicy and moist. It sat on a bed of hummus. Very tasty.Don’t take my word for it, try it yourself. -
Review 36 (2024-08-22 - Rating: 4)
I went to this place because a friend recommended it. I have to say the pizza was fine 8/10. The pasta was terrible 2/10. I cannot believe the chef prepared pasta in 5 minutes (I was expecting fresh food...). My wife couldnt eat the pasta 🍝, I do not recommend it.The service was very good. Overall, I will give 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ to this place. -
Review 37 (2025-01-03 - Rating: 4)
We visited the original location in Napoli, Italy, last summer and were thrilled to hear they opened a restaurant in NYC—it was a must-try for us. Since we live nearby, we’d noticed the restaurant is often pretty empty, which made us curious. After trying the food, we found it to be good, though it didn’t quite match the level of what we experienced in Napoli and felt a bit pricey compared to the excellent pizza spots and Italian restaurants in the neighborhood. However, the staff is amazing, and the food is still good enough to enjoy. -
Review 38 (2023-11-26 - Rating: 5)
Stumbled upon this little gem and I love it! Their food is delicious we tried their seared scallops with cauliflower puree. Fantastic! Although a little salty. We then tried the gnocco fritto, it was fried pizza dough with burrata and prosciutto in a. Mini sandwich style with arugula. Delicousssss!! I recommend the San Salvatore rose - not overly sweet and a little dry, exactly what I love. -

Wow! I was so excited when I heard my favorite pizza spot from Naples is opening in NYC! The Neapolitan style pizza, imported ingredients, light fluffy dough, flavorful tomato sauce, and incredible fresh fior di latte cheese were perfect! Tasted just like the original in Naples and can’t wait to come back! Also ordered the gnocchi (highly recommend) and pomodoro pasta (was ok). Restaurant ambiance is top-notch and service was excellent too! -

We love coming to LAntica at any time of day, whether lunch or dinner. Their pizzas are large and true to the neopolitan name. The ambiance is just amazing, and we find ourselves always coming back. -
Review 41 (2023-02-28 - Rating: 5)
I went to their flagship location in Naples back in September, so I had to slide when I heard they opened in NYC.Initially I thought we went to the wrong place, as the interior is COMPLETELY different than their location in Naples. Much more upscale, think the lounge Ryan Gosling posts at in Crazy Stupid Love compared to your cousins crib with plastic chairs. If you havent seen Crazy Stupid Love stop reading this and go watch that rn. Classic. But I digress.I got an aperol spritz (obviously) and a prosciutto pizza. It was honestly JUST as good as the flagship in Naples, which did surprise me as my expectations were through the roof. Also shoutout to our waiter Eric, he was the man.My only complaints were:1) The Naples location pizzas were 5 euro and they were closer to 20 hots a pop here, but I feel it gotta do what you gotta do.2) They served the pizza sliced as opposed to the traditional fork and knife. But Im cultured af so I ate mine with a fork and knife anyways.Take this review with a grain of salt as I went with my buddy who is a former USC basketball star, so I think we got the royal treatment. -
Review 42 (2023-03-22 - Rating: 4)
As someone who appreciates good food, I had the pleasure of dining at LAntica Pizzeria Da Michele in NYC, and I have to say that their pizza was some of the best Ive had in the city. The crust was perfectly crispy and chewy, with just the right amount of char, and the sauce and toppings were bursting with flavor. However, I have to mention that our waiters attitude left something to be desired. He came across as quite condescending, which put a bit of a damper on an otherwise enjoyable evening. But aside from that, the rest of the experience was truly 5 stars. The restaurant itself had a charming and cozy atmosphere, and the service from the rest of the staff was attentive and friendly. I particularly appreciated the attention to detail in the presentation of the dishes. -

Review 44 (2024-12-19 - Rating: 5)
I came here illegally hungover for dinner time and still managed to enjoy. Highly recommend the tagliolini (sp?!?) al tartufo and the pizza with prosciutto and arugula. A great place to have a couple glasses of wine and split a pizza and a plate of pasta with a friend or I assume a date. When I come back I’d like to try the diavola pizza. -

I’ve been excited about trying this new-ish spot in the west village and decided to stop by for lunch. The atmosphere was lovely and I can tell it would make for a perfect date night spot. I tried the butter lettuce salad (delightful!) and the cacio pasta — the food was very solid and I will definitely be coming back to try the pizzas. Owner and waitstaff gave a top-notch experience 👌 -
Review 47 (2022-12-29 - Rating: 4)
Really a 3, but giving them the benefit of the doubt because they just opened. Pizza was fresh, but very floppy - almost impossible to eat with your hands. Rice balls and salad were average, at best. Service was excellent, especially considering they opened this week. -
Review 48 (2024-06-30 - Rating: 5)
The fior de latte and the olive oil is to die for. Get the DOUBLE!! The pizza itself was a little lackluster but the ingredients are top. The sauce was heavenly. Do not order the meatballs. They are tasty but you get 4 medium sized for $20 and to be honest I didn’t love them. My date did however, so take that as you will. The service was impeccable felt especially cared for despite being in the middle of a rush. Gonna come back to try that truffle pizza 😈 -

Review 50 (2024-07-23 - Rating: 5)
I have been to their pizzeria in Napoli, which is one of the best in the city. Michele’s pizza is soft, flavorful and delicate. The NYC restaurant is on par with the Neapolitan one. The quality of ingredients is the same and the artistry is just as top notch as in Napoli. Moreover, they had good cocktails and other delicious Neapolitan foods: we tried the gnocchi and the eggplant (best I had in America). I can’t wait to try the spaghetti Nerano (a very ancient Neapolitan dish). Next time. There will be many next times.I should mention, for folks who have been to Napoli, that this restaurant has American prices. That’s at least 3X the price in Napoli, but as an immigrant I think it’s worth it. -
Review 51 (2024-09-07 - Rating: 5)
LAntica Pizzeria Da Michele NYC is a Italian Restaurant that imports ingredients from their original location in Naples, Italy and makes their food fresh daily while you eat in a cozy atmosphere! Dont be expecting a flavor overload or extra strong tastes as what makes L Antica good is their delicate subtleness in their food! I ordered a double margherita and arugula prosciutto pizza with Gnocchi Funghi E Scamorza. Expecting the double margherita to be my favorite, it had an ultra-thin slightly smokey chewy pizza dough, lightly salted and herbed pizza sauce, and an appealing amount of Flor di Latte (CHEEEESSEEE!!), it was delicious, however! The argula and prosciutto was my absolute favorite it had a super fresh savory prosciutto that almost melted in your mouth, in the midst of a small garden of arugula and the addition of the slightly nutty Flor di Latte, I surprisingly loved this pizza and would definitely give it a try. The most powerful thing I had was the Gnocchi, savory, creamy, with a hit of mushrooms, this dish stands out in the sense of subtleness and gentleness, its like wearing a propeller hat. Overall I was pretty happy with my experience in LAntica Pizzeria and hope to someday try all their other pizzas! -

Phenomenal dinner experience in Greenwich village. The ambiance was cosy & charming and service was very attentive. All the dishes we tried were delicious; especially loved the Prosciutto e Melone salad & Capricciosa Pizza. This is my favorite Italian spot in the city. Recommend to all ! -

The salads were phenomenal. Citrus salad was bright and zesty. The beet salad was earthy, nutty, and sweet. Get both! The pizza has the right sauce to cheese ratio and the crust is perfectly browned and chewy. The center of the pizza is a little soft/wet for my taste, but it’s a solid pizza nonetheless. The pasta noodles are clearly fresh made and cooked perfectly al dente. However, we didn’t order accordingly for our flavor palettes this visit — 3 out of the 4 pastas were too rich. The squid ink pasta had an overwhelming ocean flavor. The spaghetti nerano and cavatelli sausage e brocollini were overwhelmingly creamy, thick, and cheesy. The pappadelle genovese, what I normally order, was delightful as usual: the chewy noodles in perfect harmony with the tender, sweet short rib.Even though we didn’t love the dishes we ordered this time, I would certainly return and order some of the lighter pasta dishes that I already know I love, like the Alla Norma.Service was excellent — the food came out in a well paced manner. The server even brought out a second pappardelle genovese within 5 minutes when we learned that there was cheese on it (someone in our party was dairy free.) -

We were waking in Greenwich village neighborhood when saw a cool place which we decided to try. Da Michele has charming ambiance and attentive service made our lunch experience delightful. Our servers recommendations were spot on, and the thin-crust pizza was absolutely delicious, easily becoming a favorite. The cannoli was a standout, leaving a lasting impression with its spectacular taste. If youre a fan of Italian cuisine, this place is a must-visit for a memorable culinary experience. -

Lovely late lunch! Staff were attentive but gave us plenty of space to eat at leisure. Food was ample and delicious - chicken panini was perfect with a zesty arugula and tomato side salad. My companion enjoyed a simple pasta pomodoro, very good, and we shared the meatball appetizer. We had a view of the park outside and an enjoyable lunch in Greenwich Village. -

We ordered...Calamari as an appetizer.Pizza... Good flavor, great tomato sauce, thin and crispy.Pasta with meat, very delicious. We were four people and this was too much food. The portions are big, actually I think I could share my pasta and order an appetizer and that’s it... This is good enough for two people. The restaurant is casual with a long bar and well known for the pizza. The service is great and very friendly. -

Great place with excellent food, service and ambiance. A very good pizza, I tried before the Margherita and was buonissima, this time I ordered the white pizza with prosciutto, rucola e scaglie di parmigiano paired with one of their Alto Adige wine (Alois Schiava)… Very good choice. We stopped in for a quick lunch and only had the pizza Margherita, but everything was excellent. The dining area was warm and elegant, the service attentive and professional and the pizza was as good as weve had in Italy. It has everything one looks for in a Neapolitan pizza - tender, so thin it collapses crust with perfectly charred, bubbly edges, bright, fresh tasting tomato sauce and a good mozzarella, in just the right proportion. We would have loved a little more basil, but forgot to ask for extra. We dont remember the specific wine ordered but received a very nice white. We lingered over our simple meal and werent rushed. We werent hovered over as in so many American restaurants, but were also not ignored by the attentive staff. A very nice experience all around. -

The Margherita pizza is phenomenal! Very thin napolitana style. Get the double cheese, its worth it! The rest of the order was ok.We also tried:-Meatballs: they were fine, not the best weve had but they were ok-Cacio e pepe scone: loved the concept but we got it right out of the oven so it was so warm but very undercooked so texture was not great, but the taste was good (they were out and were baking some more to get us our order, so maybe thats why?).-Mushroom gnocchi: was good but a bit too heavy for my tasteIt was a sunny day so the outdoor seating was lovely! -

Excellent pizza and drink! Can go back again and again for the food. The only issue was with the host. There were multiple tables available along the window and I requested for one. However, I was told that there is a reservation. I was there for an hour and most of those tables remained available. Not sure why would the host lie to save those window tables. -

This Italian spot is in a great location of the West Village - easily accessible for people coming from a variety of locations. It definitely helps to have a reservation at this spot or you can get seated at bar. The place was already pretty packed on a Friday at 6PM, so keep that in mind.We indulged and enjoyed the Carciofi Salad, Double Margherita Pizza, and the Gnocchi Al Funghi Misti E Scormaza. All were delicious.I tried the Valpolicella and Barbera, but was not super impressed with either. That was strange for me because those are some of my favorite wines to order with Italian food.We had to flag down our server several times during our dinner to order and obtain additional items. They seemed understaffed. -

Top quality Neapolitan pie. It has been a long time since I went to the original Da Michele in Naples, but this did a great job of evoking the memory of their perfect Margherita. The vibe here is kind of stuffy and feels too fine dining (bizarre that they didn’t try and recreate the relaxed and bustling atmosphere of the Naples original), but you can ignore the dining room and just enjoy the pizza. -
Review 101 (2024-03-04 - Rating: 5)
I stumbled upon this place while trying to search for alternatives for good neapolitan pizza, and I wasn’t disappointed. This is a place where you pay and you think to yourself: OMG, for the amount I am paying this volume and quality cannot be surpassed, especially in NYC. The inside decor is quite morden, and I really enjoyed the visuals of the plates and the cutleries: they have a Nordic feeling to them (though it feels a bit distant too, which sets it apart from the comforting facade of the food).Us two gals did walk-ins on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm in west village. The outside decor isn’t so inviting: there were not menus or great see-through windows to take a sneaky peak, you have to know the place to know if you want to eat here or not.We had eggplant rolls for appetizer and carciofi salad as a refreshment beside the pizza. The carciofi salad came the first, radicchio and artichokes dressed in lemon dressing and sprinkled with pistachio bits and 4 large pieces of pecorino romano cheese. There are other seasonings like salt and parsley(not sure on this one). The portion is biiiiig! The major notes are citrusy, salty, with a bit bitterness. I dug this dish and found the combo to be surprisingly refreshing for me, especially to help me break even with the heavy dishes. But Fair Warning: for those who cannot tolerate bitterness and saltiness, it can be too mush to take in. I did found a couple of leaves to be extra salty due to the absorption of salt particles on the wet leaf green’s surface, so I guess the chef better do a better job tossing and mixing the salad if he doesn’t want his customers to be surprised unpleasantly after taking a few bites. That being said, I extra enjoyed the pistachio bits: they are just simply roasted but adds so much nuttiness and crunchiness to the dish. The eggplant rolls itself came half-way during our consumption of salad, and the pairing of these two are a match made in heaven. This is a semi-heavy dish: the sheeted eggplant wrapped with melted cheese and drenched in tomato sauce and sprinkled with more cheese. On the side it also came with two pieces of ciabatta bread. These eggplant cheese pillows are so comforting. The flavors are not surprising: it is something you would expect from a parmigiana, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with this dish. The exceution is great.Lastly, the spotlighted protagonist of this restaurant: the pizza. We ordered Margherita pizza with additions of prosciutto, arugula, and parmigiano (8 usd extra, that makes the pizza 30 usd). Initially my friend and I both thought that the pizza is going be a personal size, maybe a 6 inch, that’s why we also ordered salad and appetizer. However the pizza is a 12inch pizza with generous amount of prosciutto and arugula and cheese. Feels, it alone could be shared between 3-4 people or 2 very hungry people.Aside from the portion, the pizza dough is genius! It is fluffy, a bit stretchy, with an apparent fragrance of wheat. It is charred on the edges so the edge crusts taste texturally different from the center, which is soft and light. It is definitely hand-made and I can see the uneveniness circularity of the dough. The tomato sauce and the cheese carried a lot of flavors and aided to combine the added prosciutto and arugula’s savoriness and hints of bitterness together. It is a very well-balanced pizza and is a great introduction for me to Naple’s pizza. With all these food, we only paid around 40 usd each person before tips. I mean, what can you ask more for a sit-down Italian restaurant in west village with good flavor, generous portion, and a to-go box of food at the end of the meal. -

Amazing restaurant! Highly recommend the Margherita and truffle gnocchi. Tiramisu was probably the best we have ever had! Ab was one of the more personable and helpful servers we have had. He was amazing. We will definitely be back soon! -
Review 104 (2023-03-08 - Rating: 4)
Excellent pizza. It’s a 16” Neapolitan pizza basically. The ratio of ingredients I thought were perfect with the dough and sauce being perfect. The only compliant is the dough leans towards to soft to hold up at all. It could use a bit more sturdiness. Our favorite was the burrata on the marinara pie. Beware though heavy garlic so make sure you like that. The ambience and wine selection were great as well! -

Had a great time at LAntica Pizzeria Da Michele in NYC! We tried the Margherita and a pesto burrata pizza. The Margherita had a rich tomato sauce and melted mozzarella, while the pesto pizza was fantastic with creamy burrata and fresh cherry tomatoes. Both had a perfect, crispy crust with just the right amount of char. The relaxed ambiance made it a great place to hang out with friends. Definitely recommend it for anyone who loves good pizza! -

Its such a great Italian spot in Greenwich Village. Our hostess Agustina diaz and manager Valerio coletta were very friendly and gave me a very welcoming vibe. You always know that it is a great sign when you walk into a restaurant or any business. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant, and the bar and dining area are separate. They also do have a downstair private event area. Its very nice as well. My waitress Michell was so nice and introduced the great dishes to me. I do love they made the pizza right in front of you, so you can see the progress. Thats amazing. I dont think you can go wrong with any pizza here. I had Margherita Pizza with Arugula, Prosciutto, and Shaved Parmigiano. It was amazingggggg. The pasta I had Pappardelle Genovese, Homemade Pappardelle, Onion, Slow Cooked Short Rib, omg, its so perfect and tasty! Ill be back again to try more! Highly recommend!!! -

The OG, hole in the wall, from Naples here in NYC in a modern setting. Although the location in Naples only offers 2 pies, the NYC menu is much more extensive. We ordered the eggplant rolls for appetizer, Cacio e Pepe and Pesto Pizza for mains, and tiramisu for dessert. To wash it all down- a glass of white wine and a very strong cocktail that I cannot recall the name of. The food was fantastic and did not disappoint. The cocktail was ehh.-Eggplant roll: liked the tangy tomato sauce-Pizza: The crust was thin, light, and had the proper amount of char. I loved the burrata served in the middle. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful-Cacio e Pepe: it’s so hard to get this simple dish right but it was a really good version - perfect ratio of pecorino (for the saltiness) to parmigiano.-Tiramisu: not too sweet, light, cloud like texture - goodness in every bite. The only reason I took off a star was for the unfriendly hostess - came off rude and unwelcoming. The server was amazing though! -

I went there for dinner. The pizza is very good and quite large. We had a margherita and a diavola, both delicious and made with high-quality ingredients. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. The downsides, however, are the prices. Pizzas cost at least $30 each (not including tip), and pasta dishes sometimes go over $40. While these might be standard prices for NYC, as an Italian, I find them quite excessive. They also don’t offer draft beer, only 33cl bottles, which cost $8 (with tip, it’s $10). I live in Zurich, and even there, prices don’t reach this level.Overall, though, the pizza is excellent, and the restaurant is well-maintained and stylish. -

Been to the original location in Naples, as well as Antica Pizzeria PortAlba (the oldest in the world; also located in Naples). This is more or less exactly the same as those two (they taste the exact same, but Antica Pizzeria PortAlba doesnt come with a 2 hour wait), just smaller and with less cheese than I remember. If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be pizza and if I could only eat one kind of pizza for the rest of my life, it would be this one. -

Eat, Pray, Love—your heart out with authentic Neapolitan-style thin, chewy pizza here! L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele is now open in NY. Unlike the flagship in Napoli, Italy, which only serves two kinds of pizzas (Plus, Marinara, Margherita, double cheese, or half and a half), this restaurant serves a full menu including pesto, truffle, and so much more. Good wine too!You are truly missing out if you unless you order the famously delicious Margherita and the marinara. I suggest you order a few; they may look large but trust me, it’s easy to eat one yourself. If this is your first time trying the authentic Neapolitan pizza, then I don’t recommend you order double cheese unless you don’t mind a wet center (juice, as they call it). More wet toppings can make this thin pizza wet in the center. The 5800 sqft place is exquisitely designed, with three distinctive rooms, a Pizzeria, Taverna, and Caffe, including beautiful upholstery, made entirely of recycled denim and a really cool vibe and service overall. You can try to get lucky and stop in, as they are already booked far in advance! -

Authentic and delicious Naples pizza and pasta! The margherita pizza was light, smooth and a tad sweet with clearly fresh tomatoes and ingredients. Recommend using a fork and knife to savor each bite. The gnocchi was mouth-watering with incredible flavor. And try the panna cotta, the lightest and fluffiest Ive ever had. Exceptional and attentive service (ask for manager Rosella, server Isis) and a rustic yet modern atmosphere. Will be back soon! -

Came here mostly out of curiosity since I have been to the original in Naples a couple of years ago and absolutely loved the pizza there. At the original restaurant you get like 4 pizza options and they’re €5 each. The space of the original is small and hot so a lot of people opt to go to the bar opposite to eat their pizza there with a €1.50 aperol spritz. This one is very very unlike all that. The space is large and the interior is very luxe and this is, of course, also reflected in the prices (>$20 for pizza plus tax and tip). To cater to NY clientele the menu has all kinds of items other than pizza and many more pizza options. We had calamari rings to start and honestly they weren’t great. For our pizza we ordered the classic Margherita pizza and it was what we had been hoping for. Similar style to the original with a light and fresh sauce and not too much cheese. It’s light and tasty. Just what we expected.Overall it was nice but I’d rather go back to Naples 😋 -

The pizza was good but not excellent: the underside was quite burned and the crust edge too dense. This is a close approximation to the Da Micheles pizza in Napoli, but it is not quite there yet. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also very far from the original one: pizza in Napoli is almost a street food and selling it as refined and (very!) expensive food is almost comical, even if quite common in NYC. The tiramisù was excellent. -

Great Neopolitan pizza. Squash blossoms were very good too. -

Montepulciano and Margherita Pizza was a delicious combination. If in season, the zucchini flowers are worth getting too. -

To me it is pretty incredible how they have seemingly (perfectly) imported the pizza from Naples. 9 years ago, I ate at Da Michele in Naples. I remember the experience and the taste vividly. While this setting, much more elegant and refined, differs from the pizzeria format in Naples the pizza remains the same.As in Naples, I ordered a doppio, or double mozzarella margarita - UNCUT. In Naples, the pizza is not cut, judging by others pizzas I do believe this makes difference in getting the true Neopolitan experience. This allows the pizza maker to stretch the dough as thin as possible, creating this unique, soupy, melt in your mouth texture. Keep in mind, this is not NYC style pizza, it is meant to be eaten with a fork and knife. All of the ingredients are imported from Italy, including the delicious fior di latte cheese. The menu, unlike in Naples, is robust and extends beyond pizza. Two appetizers and a pizza to share would make for a wonderful evening. They also have entrees, a robust wine and cocktail menu, and desserts. I did not try anything else outside of the pizza because that’s what I came for. I left with a smile on my face, knowing that true piece of Naples is now in my own backyard. I only hope that as business flourishes and staff turnover that the quality and authenticity remains the same.Lastly, it is highly recommended to make a reservation, as the place was at capacity on a Wednesday and I had to make the reservation 3-4 weeks in advance. -

I went there last night because I couldn’t wait in line at their Napoli pizza place. I thought that even if it wasn’t as good, it would be pretty similar. I ordered the pizza Margherita, while the rest of my party tried various pastas and the chicken Milanese. For appetizers, we had the octopus, fried calamari, and truffle French fries. The food overall was good, but the pizza was disappointing—there are many better options in New York City. It was too bland. The service also fell short of my expectations for a high-end restaurant that clearly invested a lot into the space.I’m not sure if I’ll return, but those burgers looked good, so I might give it another try. -

Fantastic pizza and great addition to the neighborhood. The vibe of the restaurant is so chic and welcoming and it was so nice to have Francesco come around and introduce himself and tell us a bit about the space and the menu. This will be a go-to restaurant for us! -

5/23 pizza tour 5 of 11- The only whole pie ordered on the tour and it was phenomenal. Also, it was gigantic. Each part from the dough to the sauce was on point, nothing flashy but simple perfect traditional margarita. Expected would be smaller when planning trip. Didnt think would get thru too much of it when arrived but the Neapolitan style is so much lighter actually finished half of it. It being sooo good helped too -

Outstanding experience. Went for lunch and had a wonderful meal in a stunning space. The service was very courteous, quick and very efficient. The food was outstanding. We had the fritto misto and meatballs as appetizers and the marinara pizza as a main. Everything was perfect. Also had the olive oil cake for dessert. It was moist and incredibly light. We will most definitely be back often. -

The place has a great vibe and the pizza and pastas are really good. The price is ok for NY, about 65 usd per person including wine. -

Pretty good Italian American restaurant. The space is huge and they had a lot of tables. Was given one downstairs which was nice and cosy.. Service was attentive and the food itself was tasty. -

Great pizza, their branch in Barcelona used to be my favorite pizza in Spain. I’m happy that they are in NY now! True taste of Naples. -

The pizza is DELICIOUS. The sauce Im particularly is wonderful. BUT pizza is a bit TOO floppy. Fix that, and itll be the best spot for a Neapolitan in the city!! -

Great food and service. This is probably the most authentic margherita pizza I’ve ever had. The dough was very thin and the crust was puffy and soft. The little bits of basil really added a nice earthy flavor to the pie and the sauce was light but flavorful. The size is good for two people to share. Also recommend the arancini appetizer. Those were heavenly -

Music too loud, but the pizza is straight from the Dante neighborhood in Naples. -

Great ambiance, amazing pizza, and top, top notch service. Very good for a slightly more “special” meal.We have been to the original Naples, IT location (still the best if you can get to naples!) and the LA location. This is #3 behind those, but still very nice.My only disappointment is that it is a bit overpriced. The Margherita pizza was $22 - which I reluctantly think was ok given size and taste, but we skipped the more expensive ones out of principle tbh. $34 for an arugula and prosciutto pizza is a little rich.We also skipped any appetizers, salads, etc. I saw the arancini on another table and it was 3 small balls for $20. Caprese salad for $25 just seemed too much. Wine a little much for a 5 oz pour (Lambrusco for $17). We opted for a Negroni which was $18 and excellent. If they were to adjust pricing even a tad I think they would benefit from more repeat business and larger check sizes. But definitely good for at least a one time visit! -

This famous Neapolitan restaurant turns it out in NYC. The pizza here was just as good as it was in Naples. Great location and service; nice, large space. -

Good and very tasty ingredients on the pizza. Unfortunately the pizza didn’t have the corniccione that you would look for in a napoletan pizza. As a normal pizza its good. Nice environment and attention overall. -

This restaurant served the best meal in New York during our visit. The Margherita Pizza, the calamari zucchini appetizer and Cesar salad were delicious at every bite. The chocolate gellato was also exquisite. It was a feast for the senses. The music was a bit loud and EDM, but all that was minor as the food and service made up for it.
