Incredible staff, great atmosphere and amazing decor! Loved every minute there!

  • Review 2 (2023-06-18 - Rating: 4)

Great food and drinks. Long wait time for entree. I was told that there was a kitchen mix-up. I ordered the entrée first, then my appetizer. The appetizers arrived. My guests entrée crab burger arrived. But not my crab lobster ravioli. The table that was seated ten minutes after us steak sandwiches arrived before the waiter decided to ask if everything was OK. Then I informed him of my missing entrée. To which he then checked and inputted my order, and I had to watch my guest eat while I waited ten minutes for my food.

Dropped in here for a bite while waiting for a tow after my truck broke down on the GW bridge entrance. Walked in and felt very cozy & quaint. I’m loving the bar setup & vibes. Got the corned beef hash for $18, add Mimosa for $2 more. Happy hour is $5 wines. After 2 drinks I’m really starting to like this place. Finished the meal with a slice of carrot cake. My only complaint is that the corned beef hash was overly greasy, I’m talking cholesterol & artery clogging grease. A bit risqué? 😅😅

Every dollar was worth coming here. I came for a comedy show originally with an intention to go to a restaurant beforehand, but I was super late, so I ended up eating here. I was so surprised that they had bruschetta and it was absolutely exquisite. The comedy show is great and the people around me were so kind and full of laughter!

Friendly neighborhood bar. Family friendly with good food. Great wings and the entrees are tasty. First time back since covid but will be back soon.

  • Review 6 (2021-11-16 - Rating: 5)

The love of my life brought me here for a birthday dinner date October 30, 2021! We had a phenomenal waiter, Forrest! He was just wonderfully personable and helpful. The food and drinks were delicious and we just had a blast. We sat outside and loved it. It was beautifully decorated and the heaters were on. Everything was just perfect! Birthday Dinner in Washington Heights >>> We had brussel sprouts as an appetizer. I had a delicious vegan burger and my guy had a lamb burger. Our drinks were a strawberry 🍓 margarita and a warm spiced liquor! Everything was A-1! Make sure you ask for Forrest! ⭐

Stopped in while touring the area at 1:00pm on a Wednesday afternoon. Bar was recommended by Sgt. Rivera of NYPD a few blocks away. Glad he told us to try the mozzarella sticks - yum!Nice, old world, two story bar with local vibes - away from all the tourism. George Washington Bridge is a short walk away. Can’t wait to visit this area again soon and hit bar up at night.

  • Review 8 (2024-07-20 - Rating: 4)

Best Guinness in the city for sure. Mozz sticks were great but marinara sauce was not. Fish and chips good but tartar sauce was very watery. Friend got chicken plate with brussel sprouts (they were not trimmed) and mashed potatoes (gravy was broken for sure) and said it was horrible. chicken sandwhich ok. I wouldn’t get food here again but liked the bar.

  • Review 9 (2024-05-10 - Rating: 5)

Its a fun Irish pub with a great atmosphere. They often host events like comedy or live music. The vibe is great. The bathrooms are about as clean as youll find in a NY bar. The food is okay but worth it for the vibe. On the menu, it says the cheesesticks are the best in the world, and theyre not. But the curry is delicious.

  • Review 10 (2022-07-12 - Rating: 5)

Le Cheile is one of the best happy hours you’ll find in Manhattan. Open - 7pm, 7 days a week their exceptionally tasty house ale is $3. Great place to hang with friends or do some work with a cold pint for company. Good food menu as well.

  • Review 11 (2022-05-05 - Rating: 5)

I love this place, one of my favorites in Washington heights.good service and the crew treat you as always knowing you thats lovely. Good drinks and food.

  • Review 12 (2024-06-19 - Rating: 5)

Has a changing table! 🙌🏼 great service and environment. Only had drinks so can’t comment on food. Drinks were good

  • Review 13 (2024-05-26 - Rating: 5)

Full British Pints and the food is good too...

  • Review 14 (2023-07-16 - Rating: 5)

Live music (thats actually good) a couple of times a month. A decent cider (some on tap, though not on their menu - tip: actually go into the bar to see what they have). Food is variable from medium to excellent. Atmosphere is wonderful. Plenty of (covered) outside seating (in individual booths) is available. Lovely upstairs too.

  • Review 15 (2024-05-27 - Rating: 4)

On a whim, I stopped in as Ive always been curious passing by. Very pleased with my meal. Waitstaff was very helpful. I had the Guinness and fish & chips. The chips were standard fries, so on the OK side. The star was the fish, as it should be. Great cook here: juicy, flaky and well seasoned batter. The tarter sauce really helped give it a great complete bite, although the fish can stand on its own just fine. One of the better fish & chips Ive had in a while. Recommended.

  • Review 16 (2024-04-28 - Rating: 5)

First time here and I live right in the neighborhood.. I ordered the delicious Irish battered fish and chips and a Arugula salad with grilled chicken, cucumbers, avocado with green peppers. So good! Im definitely returning Total five stars here. Wonderful service. Friendly staff. A pleasant neighborhood spot to just chill and have a nice dinner and drinks

  • Review 17 (2024-01-10 - Rating: 5)

Exactly what you want in an Irish Bar. No frills, old school. This is a beer and whiskey kind of place, dont go expecting fancy. Treat the bartenders well and theyll do the same - again, dont sit at the bar looking at the menu for 20 minutes and then try to get a blood orange cosmo. Sit down, order a Guinness, and youre golden.

  • Review 18 (2022-01-22 - Rating: 5)

This is a great bar/restaurant. Delicious food and a nice happy hour!

  • Review 19 (2024-05-11 - Rating: 5)

We go to Le Cheile several times a week. Occasionally we go elsewhere in the neighborhood, but we usually end up regretting it. Only at Le Cheile is our day brightened by the kind and curteous waitstaff, always attentive without being pushy, we know that we are being taken care of. We hate to play favorites but Anna is the best! Whenever Anna is here we buy more drinks and eat more food, she makes the best reccommendations and is great at reading the mood at our table. At the same time as we love Anna, we could not speak more highly of everyone who works here: Anna, Forist and Lizzy are the best.

  • Review 20 (2024-05-21 - Rating: 5)

We were there yesterday after a college graduation close by with 16 people. The service and food were great. I highly recommend it.

  • Review 21 (2023-11-28 - Rating: 5)

The sandwiches were delicious! We had the chicken sandwich and the steak sandwich with the garlic fries. Everything was hot and fresh. The waitress was amazing and friendly.

  • Review 22 (2024-07-18 - Rating: 5)

Kennedy ,Maria and Ronaldo are great had so much fun … will visit again soon

  • Review 23 (2022-01-15 - Rating: 4)

Good neighborhood spot. A little overpriced for what it is but its a nice easy place to go to. I see it like a diner but and my husband says its bar food. Last week my husband had the fish and chips $17 it was just okay. The fish was soggy not crispy and I had the lamb burger with salad $17 and again it was edible but nothing special. We were still hungry so then we ordered chicken wings and they were fine. Service was good. Will return.

  • Review 24 (2022-11-22 - Rating: 4)

Old school Irish pub. Locals having late lunch Tuesday afternoon. Cheap drinks until 7pm. Irish stew is good and filling.

  • Review 25 (2024-09-28 - Rating: 5)

I absolutely loved my time at Le Cheile. We had the most amazing waitress, Anna, who made us feel so welcomed and attended to. We can’t wait to come back, and hope we get to see Anna again!

  • Review 26 (2018-12-21 - Rating: 5)

Last night, there were four of us for dinner, plus a toddler, and the staff couldnt be any more amazing and kind. They brought the toddlers dinner out first, which we didnt even ask for (but was such a good move), and our waiter was attentive but unobtrusive. Its a wonderful space that offers a livelier bar area and a dining area upstairs that allows you to have a conversation and not scream at each other. Its perfect. The food is great--though they were out of the bangers and mash (fair play: it was Thursday, theyre on special).

  • Review 27 (2024-04-21 - Rating: 5)

This was my third time attending Le Cheile. This time around it was beautiful cause we had my best friend retirement event at Le Cheile.

  • Review 28 (2016-12-13 - Rating: 5)

Love this place. Great food, service and crowd. Full bar. Great views. Going back soon.

  • Review 29 (2018-12-04 - Rating: 5)

One of my favorite bars uptown! I frequent wing night on Mondays (unbelievable deal!!) and I honestly feel like the wings get better every time. The staff is super cool and friendly, and everything is very affordable! There is always a nightly special on food and/or drinks, so it’s a great place to go any night of the week!

  • Review 30 (2018-07-19 - Rating: 5)

LOVE this place! Ive been coming here for about 5 years now and the food is always delicious, drinks are great and service is spot on. They have a good selection of beer (bottle and draft) and some good house wines as well. Its a cozy, casual environment and they dont seem to have a high employee turnover so youll always seem some familiar faces which is nice.

  • Review 31 (2024-06-14 - Rating: 4)

Really cozy bar, with friendly staff and good, solid irish type food and drinks.

  • Review 32 (2018-09-27 - Rating: 5)

Great food, always fresh. The beer list is solid and the atmosphere is casual. This place is the cure for the typical overcrowded NYC restaurant. Try the rustic chicken, its a crowd favorite. They cover the table with paper and put out a jar of crayons. They hang some of the table art around the restaurant.

  • Review 33 (2023-04-14 - Rating: 4)

Not exactly an institution but thats the marketing and it has that vibe, including lax yet super-friendly service, old decor. We had brunch and it was fine but I think dinner more delicious. Big portions.

  • Review 34 (2024-03-03 - Rating: 5)

We love Le Cheile; its a local treasure. Its kid-friendly, fun, clean, accommodating, and the comfort food is perfect!

  • Review 35 (2019-05-17 - Rating: 5)

The food is good, and very reasonably priced. a full bar with stools downstairs with all kinds of cool folks, a quieter dining area up stairs. You get crayons to draw on the papers the food come on, and if youre good, they might hang it on the walls. This is a good place to hang out at a bar, eat out, or have a talk.

  • Review 36 (2020-02-17 - Rating: 5)

Excellent place to go as they had a Valentines Day menu with 2-courses and dessert. The wait to be seated was less than 5 minutes. The wait for the meal was much, much longer. But due to the reasonable price, friendly service, and great-tasting food hard to take a star away for that issue.Highly recommended.

  • Review 37 (2021-08-07 - Rating: 5)

I met a knitting group here. These girls all live in the neighborhood except me. I commuted from Bayonne and it is very easy. The A train stops at 181st street and it was a half block walk to the restaurant. We sat at an outside booth facing the bridge; the most glorious pink sunset! Anyway, the food selections are very good, and I I understand that they have great Irish winter food selections too. My loaded hamburger was grilled perfectly and I was able to substitute salad for the french fries. We all had dinner and drinks and received separate checks which made everything easier. By the way, the group spoke highly of the Russian bakery, Moscow on the Hudson. So, you can get dessert on your way home if it is not too late in the evening! It looks like an interesting neighborhood to explore but wear hiking sandals. The streets are steep!хорошее здоровьеkhorosheye zdorovye

Had a wonderful time at le cheile I am a repeat customer and highly recommend. I’ve gotten to know many of the servers but I love when Anna is my server because she is very attentive and positive to talk to.

  • Review 39 (2023-02-24 - Rating: 5)

This place is laid back and a regular meet up spot for us! Great Guiness pours, good selection and reasonable pricing. The food is fantastic and fresh!

  • Review 40 (2018-12-22 - Rating: 5)

Great Irish food with something for everybodyOne of my favorite spots when I lived here. They have a vegan sandwich but they also have several dishes that can be made veggie/vegan. Awesome staff and always fun stuff going on.

We are a Hollywood Smile Photo Booth rentals company in New York City and had a wedding celebration here on the second floor. The guests had a lof fun, food was delicious and stuffis super friendly. Photo Booth was a great addition to the party.

  • Review 42 (2022-04-18 - Rating: 5)

This is a place I always go when Im NYC, located in uptown at 181 st and Cabrini Boulevard, its pretty cool, you have a resto-pub with Irish air in the ground floor in which you can have a live jazz band once in a while and then you have a more quite restaurant in the second floor with good food and good service. Prices are reasonable.

  • Review 43 (2020-01-15 - Rating: 5)

Wonderfully eclectic atmosphere in this large popular Irish pub. Lunch upstairs is new, food was substantial and excellent, and there a surprisingly intimate view of the nearby George Washington bridge from a large upstairs window. Worth a visit!

  • Review 44 (2021-03-18 - Rating: 5)

I’ve been to this place at least 5 times, and have enjoyed my experience- solid food for solid prices. Went there tonight for St Patty’s Day and was so impressed. It was super popular, but they managed sticking to COVID protocol and managing people’s expectations in line- letting them know how long the wait might be, etc. Our waiter, Vic, was awesome. Thanks Le Cheile!

  • Review 45 (2018-08-06 - Rating: 5)

Great beers, warm atmosphere. Food is good, even though Im not a fan of some traditional Irish kitchen. Every Wednesday live music, and sometimes at weekend too. My favorite place!

  • Review 46 (2018-08-09 - Rating: 4)

Nice quaint and clean Irish pub. They have a great brunch deal and fairly priced drinks. Food is 8/10 and salads are always fresh. Staff is freindly and attentive.

  • Review 47 (2017-07-09 - Rating: 5)

I came with a large group and we had several special requests. Our waitress Amanda was just so spectacular and understanding...She went above and beyond. Everybody was accomodated and our group left happy with the food and marvelling at the service.

  • Review 48 (2019-07-30 - Rating: 5)

Great local hangout with almost daily specials. Celiac’s accommodating and provide a great selection of drinks - usually there is a cider on tap! Please eat the fried fish for me - smells delicious!

  • Review 49 (2018-05-23 - Rating: 5)

Great food and atmosphere. The wings are the best in Upper Manhattan. Grab a spot in the bar for .25 cent wing night if you can get one. Otherwise the dining room is two floors ..and the staff is accommodating.

  • Review 50 (2013-03-22 - Rating: 4)

We love this pub in Washington Heights! It offers a variety of foods including the truly giant grilled cheeses, burgers and Irish stew. Also a good spot for brunch and on some evenings there is live music. A great gathering place!

  • Review 51 (2017-07-20 - Rating: 5)

The food was really delicious. I got the lamb burger with goat cheese, and my fiancee got the steak sandwich. Nicely done. Great atmosphere, decent prices. Will absolutely be back.

  • Review 52 (2021-09-08 - Rating: 5)

Love the veggie chilli!! The place has shabby chic and cozy vibes. At the top floor, depending on the seating, you can get a direct view of GW bridge (looks great at night). Have not been there in covid, but have placemats of parchment and give you crayons. You can let your inner artist out. They even use the good eclectic ones as decor.

  • Review 57 (2017-12-26 - Rating: 5)

Great pub! This place has traditional Irish fare and wonderful menu thats always fresh. The sandwiches are delicious and they make a mean chicken soup.

  • Review 58 (2021-07-19 - Rating: 5)

Went to this place and had so many drinks and forgot my wallet and phone and went the next day and they had all my things. Can’t say that about most places. My money my cards my iPhone everything they held it for me, nothing was lost. Thank you Le Cheile and your staff and thank you for the great drinks and unforgettable night.

  • Review 59 (2012-07-02 - Rating: 5)

After having gone twice, they now know exactly what I want and how I want it. If you do go there, you absolutely must try their chicken parm; I am yet to find another as good at anywhere near that price. Some of the tables are a little wobbly which means that cutting your food will spill some drinks, but that can be circumvented if you simply select a table that is attached to a wall.Overall great service, great atmosphere, and great chicken parm (I havent tried anything else since I am more than satisfied with that).

  • Review 60 (2022-03-05 - Rating: 5)

Great Irish pub. Had a delicious lunch of fish and chips, and a very good hamburger and French fries. Good service and selection of beer too.

  • Review 61 (2020-10-05 - Rating: 5)

One of the best Irish bars in NYC. The bartenders are professional and anticipate everyones needs. They have been a neighborhood rock during COVID. The Heights wouldnt be the same without Le Cheile and their amazing team.

  • Review 111 (2023-10-26 - Rating: 5)

Very consistent uptown pub. No frills, not overly priced, some decent specials that rotate, basic pub food along with Irish fare. Rarely empty which in my mind means they do a lot right for a lot of people. Shot and beer specials are good. No complaints over the last year plus going. Will continue to frequent.

  • Review 125 (2023-08-17 - Rating: 5)

This is a great everyday bar to go to. They have fantastic drink specials all days of the week. I cant complain about any of the food, but I would say that some of it is a bit plain. Ive had success with the Irish food selections that they have, but some of their standard bar food is lacking a little bit. How does a burger not come with a single topping? I still make my way to this place a couple times a month though.

Great atmosphere. The food and service were good too.

  • Review 142 (2023-01-19 - Rating: 5)

This place is a good, standard Irish bar, serving all the menu items you expect. I had the lamb burger and several drinks. The burger was absolutely flavourful and cooked perfectly. It was cooked medium rare and seasoned well to bring out the flavour of the lamb. The drinks were also made well, not watered down. The prices were fair but approaching the higher end, for an Irish bar and for the neighbourhood. The server was very helpful and friendly. The ambiance was cozy, the music not loud which is great for when you actually want to have a conversation with people at your table. I do recommend this spot.

My family has been getting together at Le Cheile for years. Recently we hosted a surprise party for my parents there and it was a great event. It was extremely easy to coordinate, the staff was friendly, it was a great space, and the food was great as always! We included meat and vegetarian options for the guests. And then we were able to bring the party downstairs into the early hours! Really loved our experience there and will continue coming back for drinks, meals, and meet ups!
