Yummy fresh food at a cozy local restaurant that we’ll definitely return to. Friendly service, warm welcoming atmosphere. We got the branzino and lamb for the entrees, and the scallops, fresh beefsteak tomato salad, and delicious vegetarian cigars. 10/10 recommend -

Went to Mazzat about a week ago and it was really good. We started off with some chicken cigars and falafel. The falafel was delightful. I liked the chicken cigars but they were a little dry which was helped by the sauce accompanying it. I had a grilled chicken plate with garlic sauce and oh my gosh. It was sooo good. The rice had this delicious buttery taste to it. My friend liked their wrap which had chicken in it. The baklava we finished so quickly because it was just that good. The bartender was so kind and so was the waiter. If this wasnt so far from me, I would go there all the time. Looking forward to my next trek there :) -

Good food, and very friendly and attentive service. The seafood tagine was a surprise hit, and the grilled garlic eggplant was very comforting. The spinach pie was a bit dry for my taste. -

I live in Jersey and I always make the trip to go here! The food is phenomenal, the vibe is amazing, and the service 11/10. I’ve been coming here for 6 years and always leave happy! If you’re reading this review, go, go, go! -

Chicken Cigars! All I have to say. And the best part about it, its an appetizer. The herbs give it a special flavor that separates it from others. The entree was ok. Chicken was a bit burnt but decent and not too dry. Wish wed have more Easter and it was a bit cooler as it was humid that day.Highly recommend. Again, Chicken Cigars! You wont believe how good they are. No pics of it as it was consumed so quickly. -

100% will be returning to Mazzat. There’s a lot of middle eastern food in my neighborhood, but nothing has beaten this. The entire menu is delicious, but the chicken cigars and grape leaves are my top choice. Don’t forget to try the grape leaves grilled! -
Review 9 (2023-05-09 - Rating: 5)
I had a wonderful meal here. The bar staff was incredibly nice, service was prompt and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the lamb it was DELICIOUS. I also had homemade mint iced tea and it was really nice. I definitely would come back and bring others—definitely a great place to hang out, eat and order plenty of apps. The menu had a great variety with lots of options to accommodate dietary restrictions. -
Review 10 (2024-10-16 - Rating: 5)
A local gem that stays true to its roots and has the dishes to back it. Some of the best falafel I’ve ever had, bar none. Be sure to ask for Joel at the bar for proper libation creations and fun-loving conversations that will carry you to closing time. -
Review 11 (2023-03-20 - Rating: 4)
Fun but basic. Its notorious food but no edge. Come here if youre hungry and wanna have a chill hang. My wify was happier after she ate ( but arent we all?) -
Review 12 (2024-12-15 - Rating: 5)
I had the pleasure of dining at Mazzat today and everything we tried was a 10/10. The hummus was spot on. The kibbeh was to die for and I genuinely had the best falafel I have ever had in my life there. (And this is coming from an Arab). For the entree, I had the chicken Shish with rice and my husband had the lamb shish with fries and a salad. Both entrees were cooked perfectly and were very juicy and tender! If you haven’t tried this place, I would highly recommend if you are in the mood for top tier Mediterranean food! :) -
Review 13 (2024-12-15 - Rating: 5)
I went for great tapas and Mazzat did not disappoint. Some of the best hummus Ive ever had and wine poured with a heavy hand. I cant wait to go back -
Review 14 (2023-06-19 - Rating: 5)
Our family had a wonderful meal here. We loved the food. Danny the owner’s son made us feel so welcome. Best falafel I’ve ever eaten. Really tasty French fries. Salmon good and the chicken kebab. Our young children are a lot and they don’t usually at restaurants. Delicious baklava and all the desserts were amazing. We sat outside and it was so relaxing. -
Review 15 (2018-03-30 - Rating: 4)
A middle eastern dine but they serve alcohol. The ambience is nice with soft middle eastern music playing in the background. The hummus is great. The food was well prepared. The staff was helpful and nice. The Turkish tea was quite different, I liked it. -

Review 17 (2024-05-03 - Rating: 5)
I love this place!! I eat here at least 4 times a month. The food is absolutely delicious (of course, I would come back so often). I’ve had the brazino, wild rice, lemon potatoes, sharwma, beet and goat salad, hummus, and pan-seared cod. Everything is top-notch. The hummus is the best I’ve every had; that’s says a lot for a person who eats hummus every week.Let’s not forget about the service. The service matches the food. Mazzat provides their customers great service and great food.I’m never disappointed when I eat here, neither will you!!!! -

Review 24 (2023-12-03 - Rating: 4)
Classic New York dining experience. Happened upon this place on the way back from the Jalopy theater and was pleasantly surprised. Falafel was fantastic, as was the steak. French fries were off the charts. Also had a Turkish style dessert that Ive never had and would easily go back for. So glad that places like this still exist in New York, let alone Red Hook. -
Review 25 (2024-01-09 - Rating: 5)
Hands down to Jay pur server and the cook. I enjoyed everything my family ordered. Jay made suggestions and he was on point with what was good. Then the cook came put and made sure we were good and made suggestions. I dont like to give review but this was a must. The lamb stew was phenomenal and I dont care for lamb. -
Review 26 (2024-02-22 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely delicious!! My family and I went for dinner last night and we have nothing but good things to say! We did not think to take any pictures sadly, but we had the hummus, garlic shrimp, and marguez as appetizers, then followed with lamb shank, mixed grill, and kafta kebab for our main course and finished off with the homemade kunafa for dessert. This is truly the best meal we’ve ever had! We are notoriously a “let’s take the rest home” family, but there were no crumbs left on any plate to take home! Everything was so fresh and served quick and piping hot, it had to be eaten right then! The atmosphere was cozy, clean, and calm, perfect for a quick Wednesday evening dinner. The servers and owner/chef are so kind and attentive! We are already making plans to come back and bring friends very soon! -
Review 27 (2024-02-17 - Rating: 5)
Exquisite food and atmosphere. Jay is the best waiter I’ve ever had. I highly recommend the Merguez and Kunafa. Try it, you wont regret it. I will definitely return. Very family friendly as well and lovely drink selection. -
Review 28 (2024-05-27 - Rating: 5)
I order take out from this place all of the time and the food is great. The food is even better if you go in person. Particularly like the half chicken and hummus! -
Review 29 (2023-12-16 - Rating: 5)
This is a special place from the first moment you enter the restaurant, greeted by lovely people who really care that you enjoy your time here and are served exceptionally delicious food. The falafel is outstanding as is the babaganoush and the lamb cassoulet. The chef is charming and generous and all the servers too. Go there soon… -
Review 30 (2023-11-28 - Rating: 5)
Food is excellent. Their falafel is some of the best Ive ever had. The inside is light, almost a whipped airy texture with the perfect amount of crunch. The crispy cauliflower is excellent. A great app to start your meal. Hoping to add this place to our regulars. -
Review 31 (2024-07-13 - Rating: 5)
Wow! Wonderful place and amazing food. Service is great! For sure will come again. -
Review 32 (2023-08-16 - Rating: 5)
We came here on our way out of the city to get dinner before driving home. I googled “best dinner near me” and Mazzat was one of the results. It wasn’t wrong - this was one of the best meals I’ve eaten in a long time. Definitely the best Mediterranean food I have ever had. The service was excellent and every single thing we ordered was fantastic. Next time I’m in New York I definitely will make a point to come back here! -
Review 33 (2024-07-13 - Rating: 5)
Hands down, this is my favorite spot in town. The owners are so friendly and the food is incredible. Highly recommended!!! -
Review 34 (2024-05-20 - Rating: 5)
While it may not look like much from the outside, this place is a hidden gem! The staff are so friendly and the food is really delicious! I loved the fried cauliflower! Everyone loved their meals and all the sauces were great. I had the shrimp wrap and lemon potatoes and both were very good. We were all so hungry that we didn’t get any pictures of the food but I would definitely recommend. I really appreciated how welcoming and hospitable the owner was. He made us feel like we were family! -
Review 35 (2023-07-07 - Rating: 5)
This place is terrific! The falafel is some of the best I’ve ever had. Crispy on the outside, flavorful and soft on the inside. My boyfriend and I got the sampler platter and were delighted. The baba ganoush and hummus were so flavorful and well textured, and the stuffed grape leaves were an unexpected joy. We also got the kibbeh, a lamb stuffed fritter. It was a very special dish I’ve never had before and I can’t recommend it enough. My only critique would be that the portions on the sampler platter were small, only because I wanted more! Add an additional falafel and stuffed grape leaf for this hungry fan of your restaurant! -
Review 36 (2024-04-23 - Rating: 5)
We discovered this charming place recently and its the best falafel Ive had in NYC! Mazzat is no-frills, all heart. Go for the falafel, pita, and warm service. -

Hidden gem providing very high quality food especially their meat. We only had lamb shanks and lamb cigars and didnt even take pictures of them because of how good it smelled and tasted. Some of the best baklava Ive had in a while and tiramisu.Service is prompt and attentive while giving you space while youre eating to enjoy your meal.Overall I would highly recommend you to come here hungry and allow yourself to have a great meal with your loved ones. Will be back again soon. -

Review 43 (2023-08-12 - Rating: 5)
Ive come here for dine in and take out countless times. The food is ALWAYS fantastic, portions are generous, staff is so attentive. They have healthy options, decadent options and a well stocked bar. This place is really a neighborhood gem, great for when you cant agree on what you want, Mazzat has it all with some added charm.I always get the Fatoosh Salad, chicken kebab, specials... weve tried a lot of options throughout the last year and all have been delicious. Wed love to have their special Knaffe or Baklava or Tiramisu for desert but were always too stuffed to order it by the end of the meal...one day :)Anyone who finds themselves in Brooklyn Bridge Park or Columbia Waterfront should give this place a try. -
Review 44 (2023-12-26 - Rating: 5)

Jay was such a gentleman and the food was very delicious. Not too much or too little seasoning and the ambience is very welcoming. -
Review 47 (2023-04-03 - Rating: 5)
We started with a light and tart Sangria, and a housemade smooth flavorful hummus with grilled pitas and chips. I had forgotten what freshly made hummus tasted like. I can never go back to storebought again. I ordered the Shawarma, the shaved lamb was done to perfection. So moist and tender, it just melted in your mouth and the infusion of spices just stimulated my palate. The rice, was so unique, it was mixed with small shards of vermicelli. I added a tablespoon of tzatzike on top which only enhanced it more. The mixed green salad was delightful as well. We ordered and shared the chocolate mousse cake. Which was very tasty, but in hindsight I would have ordered the Baklava or Rice pudding since that was made in house. The servers were very attentive and they even made sure our water glasses were full. The portions were so generous, that I took home a small portion for lunch the next day! Unbelievable,,,, that I microwaved my leftovers and it was STILL tender and tasty. The ambiance it delightfu,l low lighting, comfortable booths and antique beams. Hopefully the above text motivates all of the folks who have yet to dine here, to make your reservation now. I give this restaurant a 5 star. When I visit Brooklyn again to see my family we are sure to dine here, again and again. They live right down the street and its a short walk in a lovely neighborhood. -
Review 48 (2023-07-03 - Rating: 5)
Amazing middle eastern food. Hummus, best ever. Salad, perfect. Kibbeh, as good as grandmas, but slightly different. The service was excellent as well! The owner Jimmy is awesome. -
Review 49 (2022-04-02 - Rating: 5)
This spot is amazing. Most friendly wait staff I’ve encountered. Hilarious bar tender and waiter was so charming it hurt. The chef has perfected each dish and his passion shows in every bite. I don’t write many reviews but I had to for this place. I will be eating here often. -
Review 50 (2023-10-13 - Rating: 5)
We randomly picked this place for dinner on our way to a concert, and it turned out to be a great place! Cozy romantic atmosphere, great service, delicious food. -
Review 51 (2022-09-16 - Rating: 5)
I had the cod special- it was the best piece of fish I’ve have had in years. Moist and delicate and perfectly seasoned to bring out the luscious flavor and mouth feel. We started with olives and foul- salty meaty olives were a perfect foil to the richness and earthiness of the fava bean dip. My companion had a perfectly cooked ribeye and we both had a pitch perfect salad and fries. Staff was knowledgeable warm and attentive. We will be back! -
Review 52 (2024-02-19 - Rating: 5)
Just popped in for lunch and whoa, can’t believe I haven’t been here before. Everything we ate was cooked to perfection, salad was deliciously flavored. Staff is so kind 🫶 -
Review 53 (2023-06-23 - Rating: 5)
Really nice service; ate a late lunch at 3pm with my family, and since it was the start of happy hour my dad got the sumac cocktail (delightful and refreshing summer drink) for just $10. Lunch specials are a good value! -
Review 54 (2023-08-07 - Rating: 5)
This place slaps. Nuff said. My favorite cuisine is Mediterranean and this spot is better than the big Mediterranean hitters in the city: Shuka, Zou Zou, ZiZi, 12 chairs etc. the hospitality is also unparalleled, waiter was super thorough with recommendations and honest about portions sizes and the amount of dishes to order. Coming back again for sure!!! I had: fried cauliflower, feta chip dip (hot), baba ganoush, and the falafel. -
Review 55 (2019-06-09 - Rating: 5)
Awesome place, very smooth atmosphere, in a quite and classic neighborhood. Food is great, Mediterranean kitchen with a mix of Greek and Turkish flavors. Very nice selection of appetizers, great main course options and specials. Drinks are cold and delicious, Mojitos are out of this world. Basically, everything is just right and perfect. We will definitely be back soon. -
Review 56 (2022-02-16 - Rating: 5)
I had the best cassoulet the other night! The subtle and fragrant spices are a mystery but the dish, here, is better than any fine French restaurant. Jimmy is a true chef! My husband and I have been coming here for years. Every meal has been exquisite and the service, impeccable and friendly. -
Review 57 (2023-07-03 - Rating: 5)
We had the most wonderful experience at this restaurant we happened upon in pur first night in the city. Jimmy, the owner was so hospitable and a pleasure to talk with. The food was fantastic! We highly recommend this establishment! The kibbeh was my favorite! -
Review 58 (2023-05-26 - Rating: 5)

Review 59 (2022-04-10 - Rating: 5)
My family and I stopped in for lunch and I’m glad we did. The host was very accommodating and described the menu and specials in delicious detail. The pita bread and hummus was on point, I had lentil soup (which I wasn’t expecting much but was surprised at how good it was) and a lamb shawarma sandwich (also very tasty) with a side of fries that the host kept boasting were the best in Brooklyn, which, I thought he was just saying it but actually might be the best fries in Brooklyn. The kids ate burgers and chicken tenders (not from Costco) and my wife’s salad and I’ve never seen them eat salad before. The moms had a baked salmon dish (also very tasty) and couldn’t shut up about how good the sangria was. Really good quality food and it didn’t break the wallet. Very glad to have stumbled upon this place and will definitely be back to try the Lamb Shank. Thank you Mazzat’s -
Review 60 (2024-08-11 - Rating: 5)
Legitimately a hidden gem in the neighborhood. Everything we ate during our visit was cooked and sauced to perfection. The salmon, the shrimp, the sauces, the fries, the lamb cigars — all top notch! Really love this spot and will absolutely come back -
Review 61 (2023-08-07 - Rating: 5)
Beautiful restaurant and top-tier service! Our server was incredibly welcoming and made our dining experience very comfortable. Ive never had baklava before, but it tasted AWESOME - definitely get it if you stop by! All the dips (especially the feta cheese dip) were so so good with the pita they served. Did I mention the falafel? Very soft and paired well with the dips. I recommend this place 100/10 😊 -
Review 62 (2023-08-03 - Rating: 5)
If I was on death row, I would want to eat food from Mazzat as my last meal.Go here! Try one of the specials! Have a date night! Talk to Jay the server, and enjoy yourself!Oh, and get dessert. -

Review 66 (2024-08-29 - Rating: 5)
We were visiting Red Hook and went here on a locals reco- I never leave reviews, but had to let the world know these have probably been the best meals I have ever had, and in a truly charming setting. It needs all the hype it deserves and I want to put it out there for them and for the rest of us who want real and good food (understatement)-Evert detail of every bite is incredible- clean, fresh, genuine- We went for dinner, lunch, and then dinner again- not only was our service attentive and fun, everything we ordered stunned us- it’s too good. This is where you should eat in New York. Travel here or walk on over if you live in Red Hook- This is the greatest restaurant in New York - go before you can’t get a table. -
Review 67 (2022-08-24 - Rating: 5)
The place has some really good Mediterranean and middle eastern dishes, upon arriving the restaurant was empty but later on a lot of people have arrived so I recommend coming early if you dont reserve a table, for appetizers we ordered deep fried cauliflower and their Lebanese Kibbeh both were really good, the owner was super friendly and brought us hummus and falafel, the hummus was good and the falafel was soft and nice on the inside, one of the best ones I have had in a while. For main dishes we ordered cod, shrimp linguine, shawarma sandwich and mixed grill, all dishes were very tasty and our server kept making sure that everything was delicious, I would highly recommend coming for a great Mediterranean meal! -
Review 68 (2024-12-14 - Rating: 5)

Great food and Great service...But unfortunately there was a rude woman at the next table yelling into her phone. It ruined our meal...And she was totally unaware that her bicycle made it very hard to get to my seat.Food and service exceptional!.....The other patron made the experience miserable. Please, if you are face timing while eating your meal? Can you possibly be AWARE of other diners. You are not the only person on the planet....Thanks. -
Review 71 (2021-03-14 - Rating: 4)
Food was pretty good, rice lacked some flavor...just tasted the butter, it really felt like something was missing. Typically I dont need to put anything on my rice to really enjoy the dish. However, everything else was good. Lamb prepared to perfection and salad fresh. -

A unique experience amongst the countless Mediterranean options in Brooklyn that you will not forget. The decor and inviting staff are enough to bring you back, but it helps that they serve some of the best Mediterranean cuisine around. Highly recommend the lamb for entree and eggplant as a starter. An established location for our date nights or when friends come to visit! -

Lovely place! My friends (a group of 8) and I went there last night after going to a poetry event nearby. They accommodated us quickly and were really friendly throughout our whole time there. I also think we might have kept the place open longer than they usually were because we didnt leave until close to 11:30, but they didnt once as for us to leave. So amazing service. The food and sangrias were all delicious and the staff is great! -

Delicious Mediterranean food! I heard great things about this place so I came in for the shish-kabob sandwich for lunch, and the lamb was cooked excellently. It was moist and flavorful. The staff was also attentive and accommodating. Everyone in my group was very happy. If you are in the area, I absolutely recommend swinging in here to experience it for yourself. -

We typically order delivery from Mazzat and it is AMAZING every time. Their french fries are made of magic, I swear. I have never had delivery fries come in as hot and crispy as these. The spices on them are perfect too. Delicious. -

Mazzat has been my go-to since moving to Carroll Gardens. My favorite is the lamb kabob with bulgur wheat and a side of hummus but everything I’ve tried over the years has been delicious and fresh! I highly recommend trying the homemade Baklava made with French butter. Best in town! -

The food is good and has a nice ambiance reminding you of a middle eastern and mediterranean feel. The restaurant has a variety of choices and a wide menu. I suggest the chicken kabab for a main entre. The baba ganoush is excellent too. I was happily surprised the Bulgur was so good. They also have outside seating and the staff is friendly. Its a little expensive but not overly priced. If I was to come back Id get the tapas. -

Mazzat, located in prettiest parts of Brooklyn, is a gem of a restaurant. From the moment you step inside, the experience is nothing short of exceptional. The service is attentive and personable, with staff who are clearly passionate about delivering a great dining experience. The food at Mazzat is truly a 10/10. My husband and I ordered the chicken cigars, the lamb shank and the mixed grill. All dishes were tender, perfectly seasoned/spiced, and rich with flavor. This place truly captures the beauty of Mediterranean cusine.Shoutout to Jimmy for running a great restraunt and always keeps his customers happy :) -

Review 91 (2019-12-17 - Rating: 5)
Really just amazing!!! The tilapia there is to die for, it is so soft and flavorful I couldnt believe it at first! The falafel is also incredible, some of the best ive had. The hummus and babaganoush were also good, was surprised at the stuffed grape leaves because I almost always hate them anywhere but home, but this place was good. I was so full I couldnt get dessert but will for sure next time! -

I went there on Valentines Day after reading the reviews. You can call this olace romantic if you visit at night. We had wine which was for just $25 , pretty inexpensive for New York standards.Thr foid was extraordinary. The starters were creative yet mouth watering. Being an Indian, I liked the flavor of food. The most amazing part was the lamb shank. It was falling off the bone and the meat was extremely well marinated which came with rice and a side of salad.I would definitely recommend this place if you want a place away from the hustle bustle of the city. -

So happy I finally got to Mazzat. All the dishes I had were outstanding. The Babaganouj, the Foul Madammus, the Mousakaah. And the Turkish coffee was lovely. Also, let’s talk about falafel. It can be hard to find good falafel in Brooklyn. But Mazzat has excellent falafel: flavorful, crispy outside, moist inside. I will definitely be back. -

I had a party catered by Jimmy at Mazzat and let me tell you. We had 60 people, and after the food was served the place was practically silent while people were eating (except for the “omg this food is amazing” and “holy moly I am having seconds and thirds”) I’ve dined in at Mazzat at least once a week since we moved here and it NEVER fails. Thank you Jimmy!!! -

Mazzat is very nice place to relax, have a cocktail, and have a really good quality meal. On this particular occasion in early May, we had a hummus appetizer and ordered some of the daily specials. One was the Beet Salad. The other was the fresh Cod. Both dishes were outstanding and would rate high in portion, quality and flavor. The staff at Mazzat were really nice and had perfect timing for cycling our food and drinks. I would recommend the house Margarita. All in all Mazzat is a great spot in neighborhood for access and food. -

Going out of my way to post a review for this GEM. The food was PHENOMENAL. Not only am I a foodie, I got two things I don’t normally like (one of which I wasn’t aware I was getting haha). I loved everything I got, well that’s an understatement, i was thoroughly obsessed with my meal. I also had Chardonnay (I asked jay, our waiter, also a GREAT A+++ waiter, for his recommendation) was so good and paired so well with my food. I cannot stress enough that everyone needs to try this food if they are able. It was an experience, the vibe of the restaurant is warm and inviting and you can feel how much care goes into the food and ingredient selection. Definitely will be back. -

The waiter recommended it and he was really on point!Service was excellent as well. Waiter was fast, friendly and knowledgeable. They really made me feel welcome here! Only complaint is the diet coke they gave me had maybe a teaspoon of soda in it 😂Everything else was great and I loved how the restaurant opens up to the street.
