One of the best meals Ive ever had! We asked the maitre d for a table closer to the amazing live jazz music. He was so kind and gave us the perfect table. Our server Marcus (not Samuelson) guided us through the night and curated an amazing 5-star experience. Since so many dishes looked amazing Marcus suggested the tasting menu and Im grateful he did because I likely would have not ordered the best Caesar salad Ive had in my life amongst various other items. Dont waste you time. Order the tasting menu! Everything was mouthwatering delicious. And we left completely full. I cannot wait to return!

The food was sooooooo good!!! We ordered from the prix fixe menu for restaurant week, and guaoooo AMAZING, interesting, fresh food. Exactly what you can expect from a Marcus Samuelsson restaurant. The drinks are super strong, so not for me, but might be for you. For people who care about bathroom access, there’s coed closed door stalls (3-4) on the dining floor, and I believe the third floor also has bathrooms.

Six of us came here on a Saturday night and lived this restaurant! It’s a few months old and not a lot of people know about it yet, so we were able to easily get a reservation, but you could have also walked in as there were many open tables. My favorite dish was the cheese ravioli, but I enjoyed everything else that we got. The desserts are outstanding, so it’s worth coming here just for that. The desserts were hands down Michelin star level!

Really amazing evening and experience. Met Chef Ed Tinoco and Alexis the beverage queen. Our group enjoyed all the cocktails. My fav was the Winter Citrus Sour. The appetizers of the fried olives and cornichons and the blanketed franks were so good. Hamachi tacos are excellent with great presentation. Short ribs were divine. Braised oxtails also very good (and we had leftovers for breakfast). Wagyu steak was super tender. There was a side that we dubbed sex in a bowl that was a cheese/potato. The agnolotti was my personal fav - pillows from heaven!!!! I would definitely go back to this place.

Ok. So I was hesitant to try as my other Marcus restaurant experience is meh personally. However, this restaurant wasnt trying to be anything but good. And I appreciated that. Our waiter Jamel (sp?) was lovely. Attentive but not intrusive. You cant roll an oyster cart by me and not expect to try. Considering that its winter, they were great! The cocktails were creative. The menu is clearly seasonal so Ill be tempted to return in spring or summer to see what else theyve come up with. It was a Friday evening during NYC peak holiday season so the restaurant was certainly buzzing. I recommend a reservation to be safe. Enjoy!

Love love love this place. First off, the brand new P.A.C. center is absolutely gorgeous. The decor is exquisite, both inside and outside of the building. The restaurant, Metropolis itself, has a very modern rustic vibe. Its like the 70s, and todays modern design had a baby, and that baby is Metropolis. As beautiful as the decor is. The food is delectable art. Chef Ed Tinoco and Chef Marcus Samuelson have truly put together a masterful menu that is certainly to any palate.Another big shout out to the entire beverage team. Their wine list is extremely sophisticated and worldly. Some incredible selections at perfect price points from all over the world! More countries are represented than I have seen on a list in a long time. Their cocktail list is uniquely special, and you can tell how hand crafted the beverages have been created. They even have an insane non-alcoholic specialty drink list for those who still want to try something new.As for food, I wish I could try the entire menu. My guest had the Montauk Fluke Crudo, which was stunning to look at as they truly enjoyed it. I myself had the Smoked Hamachi Taco, which was out of this world. (See video) The house made belini-tacos infused with basil oil were the perfect vessels for the Hamachi. It perfectly wrapped the fish as I made my taco table side. Truly creates a perfect bite. Sweet, salty, crunchy, savory, and Umami. BRAVO!!!For entrée, my guest had the Arctic Char with an uni beurre blanc, and I couldnt decide because I wanted EVERYTHING.... I closed my eyes and blindly pointed to the duck.My guest was overjoyed with the luxuriously delicate flavors of the sea. I mean... come on, people... whats not to love when an UNI BEURRE BLANC is involved. When my dish arrived, I took a second to appreciate the time spent perfecting this dish. The duck was exquisitely cooked. The knife cut through it like butter as the perfectly crispy skin cracked within each succulent bite. I havent even gotten into the Molé, or even the side of duck confit!!! Take me to flavor town! And if you thought that was it, think again, because this dish wouldnt be complete in its decadence without a nice piece of foie Gras..... and game over! Please send me home with a side of that molé sauce so I can bathe in it! A Homerun of a dish in my book. For dessert, my guest and I shared their bacon caramel flan....Yes....Thats right.A Bacon caramel Flan!Do I even need to explain any more???Go to Metropolis NOW and try it for yourself!@ericjordan03oninstagram

I visited Metropolis for a date night and couldnt be more blown away. Its located within the Perelman Performing Arts Center and the second we walked in we were stunned by the architecture, aesthetic, and decor of the restaurantThe food was literally an adventure of culinary prowess. The creativity, attention to detail, and flavor combinations were unique and innovative. For cocktails we had:Sweater Weather Cobbler (fresh, fruity and sweet)Bubble Gum Sour (slightly sweet, great flavor)Tropical Negroni (strong, fruity aftertaste)Appletini (great apples flavor in a drink w/ slight cheese aftertaste)StartersRaw Oysters (fresh and delicious w/ savory sauce)Grilled Prawns (savory buttery prawns with perfectly charred toast)Blanketed Franks - Flaky Crust with spicy sausage and delicious sauce)Smoked Hamachi Taco (build your own taco, very fun! I dont usually do sushi style fish bc of texture but the Hamachi was smoked nicely to give it some firmness)MainShort Rib (so tender I didnt need a knife, flavors were amazing)Aged Crescent Island Duck (super tender, delicious sides, foi gras was melt in your mouth goodness)Sheeps Milk Triangoli - Creamy and Savory with slight Garlic flavor, pasta cooked perfectlyDessertStout Sticky Toffee Cake- soft cake with toffee bits and a hint of beer flavoring (SO GOOD) ice cream was sweet n fluffySerious Chocolate Soufflé - Rich chocolate taste w/ slightly spicy kickServers were attentive and knowledgeable of all dishes and drinks. They even poured us free glasses of champagne as we began socializing with other guests! Such a welcoming and thoughtful spot, we’ll definitely be back!

Hands down the best alcohol free old fashioned I’ve experienced, like the real deal. Food, ambience (live jazz) & service is top notch, go there you won’t be disappointed!I recommend the Caesar salad, the pasta with foamed cheese and lime pie that looks like västerbottenostpaj.

  • Review 9 (2023-11-02 - Rating: 5)

I had dinner at Metropolis with friendsThe restaurants decor is visually stunning. The waiters are delightful and very knowledgeable about every dish. I had the crudo as an appetizer. We also had the sheepskin triangoli, the aged crescent island duck, and the arctic char. For dessert, we had the plum tart and the panacotta with grapefruit granita. Every dish was delicious. The triangoli and the duck were the highlight of the meal.

Metropolis by Marcus Samuelsson - Great Atmosphere, but Room for Improvement on the BurgerMy visit to Metropolis by Marcus Samuelsson left me with mixed feelings. The ambiance, decor, and service were all impressive, with attentive waitstaff and a well-organized setup that made the dining experience enjoyable. However, as someone who rarely leaves food on the plate, I was surprised to find myself leaving half of my burger behind. To be fair, the sauce and technique were well thought out, and the combination of flavors showed promise. Unfortunately, the execution fell short when it came to the basics—the burger bun and meat. The balance between the bun and patty was off, and the meat didn’t seem as fresh as expected. The bun also had a slightly stale quality, as if it had been stored a bit too long.On a positive note, the fries were exceptional, crispy and full of flavor. If the burger itself could reach the same level, I’d be excited to return and fully enjoy both the food and the beautiful setting. Here’s hoping the chef fine-tunes this dish—I’d love to come back and experience Metropolis at its best.

Perfection.Everything was delicious. The cucumbers that came with my entree, the fried olives, the cocktails, the desserts.... literally bursting just thinking about the meal that we had.The people were also incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable.Definitely left wanting to try more.Hope to return very soon.

  • Review 12 (2024-09-30 - Rating: 4)

I started with the cornbread as an appetizer. It was completely different than how I imagined it would be. I was expecting a buttery cashew sauce to pour over it. The flavor was different but not bad. It had a hint of spice (paprika?) and an aromatic herb taste. My main course was steak frites. The steak and sauce had a pleasant flavor, and the fries were crispy. My server was outstanding and attentive.Note: The chicken used in their dishes is dark meat. Just a warning for those who prefer white meat.

  • Review 13 (2023-12-14 - Rating: 5)

Top quality food, terrific and polite service. Good recommendations. Great meal. Dover sole is excellent as was the soufflé and hamachi tacos.

  • Review 14 (2024-07-11 - Rating: 5)

Food was amazing! Ashley the bartender was amazing from the minute we sat down. We decided to order a few dishes off the menu, after hearing the new menu was great! I enjoyed the brown butter old fashioned! The ambiance was amazing, clean and modern. Everything was great. My fav was the steak! It was tender, well seasoned. Second was the short rib, with fruit chunks on top of it. The strawberry dessert was the best for me! Will be again! Thank you ASHLEY, and Makala! Kudos to the chef!!

  • Review 15 (2024-11-12 - Rating: 5)

Everything here is so delicious, Ive been back 3 times so far. There was a spicy margarita on the menu in the summer that is sooo yummy I hope they bring it back! Listen dont walk run! I love everything about this space, from the food to the ambiance. A gem 💎

My friend did a reservation for my birthday here and she chose right. The place is amazing, starting from the decor, service and the food. Everything was amazing.

  • Review 17 (2024-11-17 - Rating: 5)

Amazing place. The design on the restaurant is great, because for a while there was live music close to the entrance and the artist was talented. Listening to good live music while eating delicious steak and some of the best dessert in a while was a treat. Expensive, but you get what you pay for.

  • Review 18 (2024-11-19 - Rating: 5)

I have never been to a Marcus Samuelsson restaurant that I did not enjoy. Metropolis truly exceeded expectations. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, coupled with the exceptional service, set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Our server was Cameron and we ordered the short ribs, snapper, potatoes, deconstructed apple pie, oysters, peekytoe crab and shared the Flying Fish cocktail. Every dish, from the tender short ribs to the fresh oysters, was a culinary delight - bursting with flavor and seasoned perfectly. The short rib and the oysters were a particular standout. Going forward I must have a lemongrass sauce for my oysters. What truly made this night extraordinary was the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. When I realized I had lost a sentimental ring, their immediate concern and willingness to help was incredibly heartwarming.Right after we ordered, I realized that I lost my ring - not my actual wedding ring but a ring my husband gifted to me on our wedding day. I was feeling very sad about it but decided to try and enjoy myself. The staff looked around and said they would keep an eye out for it. As we were leaving the building I asked the security team if anyone had found a ring. Christian checked the lost and found and to my surprise it was there! [Backstory] my husband lost the bracelet I gave him on our wedding day and found it the same day. Right before Christian returned with my ring I said “well maybe I will find my ring since you found your bracelet.” It was the cherry on top of such a wonderful night. I will never forget and will definitely come back to Metropolis again.PS. Forgot to mention there was live music right outside the restaurant in the lobby area.

The restaurant is a sight to be seen. The food was just ok. We had the chicken which was underwhelming. The carpaccio was ok. The wine was fantastic. Id go back to enjoy the bar anytime.

  • Review 20 (2024-06-23 - Rating: 4)

Gorgeous new space in the Perlman Arts Center. Had brunch before Cats. The French omelet was incredibly rich and just too much cream sauce. Chicken sausage was fine. Corn bread was good. Decent bloody Mary. I dont know if this would be a destination for me and maybe dinner food is better.

  • Review 21 (2024-11-10 - Rating: 5)

The food, service, and ambiance were par excellence!

  • Review 22 (2024-11-03 - Rating: 5)

Very new and modern space and the food is a celebration of so many different world cuisines and cultures but done expertly!

  • Review 23 (2024-08-25 - Rating: 5)

Service was informal and a bit sloppy since last time I dined. Greeter couldn’t seat us for our rezzy for 15 mins even though there were 6 or so four tops open. Weird. Waitstaff was super friendly but bus boy was sloppy and dropped silverware twice. Food is still spectacular. Still 5 stars because of food.

  • Review 24 (2023-12-02 - Rating: 5)

We are big Samuelsson fans. This restaurant did not disappoint. Every dish was flavorful and original. We enjoyed the meal from start to finish. The place is gorgeous and the service is wonderful. The value proposition here is great. It does it break the bank and you feel great when you leave. Highly recommend this restaurant

  • Review 25 (2024-03-02 - Rating: 5)

Located in an elegant performing arts center, this architectural marvel of a restaurant and its menu are a symphony in itself. Even though we were late, the staff still took us in late on a rainy Sunday night and treated us to an excellent meal with a diverse twist on old classics, such as the Harlem Oysters, a nod back to Samuelssens past. The service was incredible--our waiter Marcus is a veteran of the industry and knows how to treat good customers. My only recommendation, push back against the Truffle Pasta (an unlisted item that will be presented as a special). It is absolutely delicious, but is the same dish as the $32 pasta, just with white truffle. For me, the price is too high for its Michelin Starless britches at $175.Otherwise, an excellent restaurant and worth the money for a five star experience.

  • Review 27 (2024-03-20 - Rating: 4)

Good food, nice ambience over lunch. Would love to go back in the evening for a cocktail.

  • Review 28 (2024-02-02 - Rating: 4)

The new restaurant by Marcus Samuelsson is definitely a worthwhile destination for a beautiful meal. The atmosphere, presentation of the food and cocktail menu was phenomenal. The wood was good, but I definitely expected to be blown-away by the quality and taste-profile. I tried a few things on the menu; the oysters were interesting but not worth $18 for an oyster that was overpowered by the XO sauce, the arctic char did not seem as fresh as it could be and as it was cooked (slightly undercooked) it was even more evident; the fluke crudo was my favorite on the menu and the Vesper Martini is a must try! I truly hope it was an off-night for the team so may come back and try again since the experience was amazing.

  • Review 29 (2024-07-10 - Rating: 5)

The famous fried chicken did not disappoint! The restaurant brings a much needed cool lunch spot that is very versatile. Its a vibey spot for lunch with friends or coworkers! I cant wait to go back and also try their happy hour!

  • Review 31 (2024-01-14 - Rating: 5)

The mashed potatoes side dish that comes with the short rib, was NEXT LEVEL, life changing. Everything was really good, the services was really good, I just wish it wasn’t so out in the open but the food can let me look pass that. The best food I’ve had in a long time and I just went to Torrisi.

  • Review 33 (2024-02-16 - Rating: 5)

This is a must for dinner and cocktails if you are in the area. The ambience is like no other. Staff was very professional and had a well organized understanding of the menu. Cocktails were a perfect blend of flavor. Very cozy atmosphere, and the plating of the meals are top notch. Would recommend any of the appetizers, Duck for the main entree.

  • Review 34 (2025-01-03 - Rating: 4)

Our server Makayla was amazing and very sweet. I had a virgin amaretto sour to drink. For starters we had the cornbread, fries and gravlax with trout roe. Starts were great. For the entree, we both had the sugar hills night which is fried chicken, braised kale, sweet potato dumplings in chicken jus. The dish was very tasty. The chicken was crispy and cooked well.Overall the ambiance is very sleek and grown. Perfect for a birthday, girls night, date night. I would definitely return

  • Review 37 (2023-11-13 - Rating: 5)

5 star. The service is attentive; drinks are well balanced with unique ingredients. Marcus Samuelsson does not disappoint! We will be back!

  • Review 38 (2023-11-26 - Rating: 5)

Excellent quality yum dishes. Service is spot on and beyond, though one friendly server was not well versed on the menu or cocktails. Hamachi smoked taco and the grapefruit granite panacotta is a must but everything we had was very good. Window seating was set up but told no one can sit there. Banquet 2 people seating is comfortable, but one person will be facing the wall and missing the people watching and the ambiance. Seating near the bar is better than farther back. Cant wait to come back!

  • Review 39 (2024-12-16 - Rating: 5)

As mind-bogglingly good as the food is here (and it truly is), the service by the remarkable staff bumps this up to an even higher level. One server in particular, Ira, went out of his way to make our first visit especially memorable. We will be back to this restaurant as soon as we can -- a real treat.

  • Review 40 (2023-11-05 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 42 (2024-11-18 - Rating: 5)

This was a great experience and delicious meal. The decor and ambiance are a vibe!! Felt very sexy inside the restaurant. It’s literally at the World Trade Center, so that was a cool surprise. We had the tomahawk special. It came with a gem lettuce salad with shallots and shallot vinaigrette. This was soooo good. Brussels sprouts and blue cheese au gratin was the rockstar. Potato balls were good. This meal was worth a trip back to New York. Everyone was nice and accommodating.

  • Review 43 (2023-11-02 - Rating: 5)

Wonderful service and wait staff! Brand new restaurant with a very cool vibe. The drinks were delicious as was the food 👌🏾Our favorite cocktails were the “sweater weather” and the “catskill old fashioned”.Our favorite sampler was the prawns!! And main dish, ribs.

Venanta (The host) was absolutely amazing! The professionalism and service really set the tone for our dining. We revisited because of the service we received and the food knowledge was sublime. Must visit restaurant.

  • Review 45 (2024-07-06 - Rating: 5)

Wow! This restaurant is amazing. The cocktails are delicious. I am generally not someone to appreciate drinks with dinner but the champagne cocktail with charred pineapple was too intriguing to not order. I ended up ordering a second it was so yummy.I started with a tomato and peach salad. The dressing was perfection. My main was a vegan curry. It was somehow both really rich and light at the same time. It was very satisfying. I finished up with some fruit and sorbet. The sorbet was flavorful and not too sweet. It was perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant and I very much look forward to going back.

On the third week of July a Wednesday, I ate dinner at Metropolis. I ordered the fried chicken, the smothered greens ,cornbread, and of course dessert. . you could say the food came with magic and I loved it so much that I came back four days later and ordered the same food, dessert and by the way, the dessert is Pavolas. This is my third time eating at this restaurant of Marcus.Everything in here looks delicious and it probably is because the food that I ate was delicious. The restaurant is stunning, the food is worthy of the amount charge., THE.PASTRY CHEF???? Oneika Brown is a Queen at her gift. This is a beautiful place for children.also. There is an out door area for sitting comfortably. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. This is what you have been urging yourself to try:Real Good Food. You deserve it. Also CATS IS PLAYING THERE. Same building, near 911 memorial. In the photos you will see Ms. Onika Brown with me.*************Finally, the terrace at the Metropolis has opened and I have included photographs. they are stunning in person. It’s a beautiful space to come and relax. See the city. See the sky and refresh yourself. Speaking of refreshing the General manager, Mr. Kelsey has put his magical hands together and concocted a wonderful drink of water with pineapples, (no sugar, refined), mint, pure water and love. It is a homage and appreciation to the guest. These ingredients are added to the water with your well-being in mind. Refresh.

Wow. Beautiful, delicious dinner last night at Marcus Samuelsson’s 5-day-old restaurant in PAC NYC. My partner Patrick & I, visiting from out of town, shared three mains. The arctic char entree was eye candy, with its cream-colored uni beurre blanc, orange roe & bright-green-striped cucumbers the size of kumquats. Artichoke-filled triangoli, in a silky sheep’s milk & pepper sauce, were pure comfort. Perfect for fall, the duck was tender, expertly seared meat, intense side flavors of mole, plum jam & pickled mustard leaves, & a surprise pat of foie gras. The sauce of each main dish was so good that we scraped the plates clean. Luigi, our waiter, was affable &cheerfully answered our questions about the newborn venture. All of the front-of-the-house staffers were polite & attentive. Two sets of friends who are Battery Park City residents had dined at Metropolis—on Opening Day & Day 4—and both raved about it. So we were delighted to get a reservation during our short stay. We’re coming to NY again next August; I expect it’ll be a lot harder to get a table then!P.S. The Metropolis menu & atmosphere are completely different from Hav & Mar’s.

We had a fantastic meal at Metropolis and would highly recommend this restaurant. The only thing that prevented me from giving 5 stars is that the waiter brought dessert menus to our table while I was still eating my main course. Really?!

  • Review 59 (2024-05-14 - Rating: 5)

Lovely and decently affordable brunch spot. We came on a Sunday morning for Mother’s Day and it wasn’t too crowded. We got attentive service and it was a very cozy, modern feel inside. We especially loved their duck confit special but also the chocolate babka and cinnamon roll with jamón iberico were delicious. If you’re someone with accessibility needs- the elevator is somewhat hidden to the left of the stairs on the north tower fountain side. The staff was helpful and are present at that entrance to assist.

My guests and I were touring PAC NYC and I happened to walk by the restaurant. When I called a few months back, they hadn’t started dinner service yet. To my surprise, Kristina (the hostess) mentioned that they are in fact open for lunch and could more than likely take our group. They did more than just accept our reservation. Jennifer (manager) printed a small prixe-fix menu during our tour.I was blown away!Kudos also to our server, Julio, and the front and back of house team at Metropolis for what was a phenomenal lunch.

  • Review 61 (2024-02-25 - Rating: 5)

We enjoyed the Christmas menu and were overwhelmed by both the service and the food. The waiters were attentive and provided excellent service. When one of the waiters found out about my upcoming birthday in conversation, there were some nice touches on the house. It was an all-round perfect evening for us.

I want to express my gratitude for the wonderful experience we had at this establishment on New Year’s Eve. Despite being late, the host and manager were incredibly helpful and welcoming. Our waitress provided exceptional service throughout the evening. The food was delicious and well-prepared.
