    The food was good and the staff was superb. The dining room is also beautiful. We went for a weekday lunch and it was very much a business crowd. The vibe is borderline stuffy, but the staff was so kind that their warmth offset that.

    Walked into a beautiful, cozy, inviting restaurant for a glass of wine and ended up staying for rounds of drinks, tons of amazing food and the best service! We felt like family the second we walked in the door. Basdeo the manager is there to greet you with a smile!!! This place is a MUST!!! Sliders and fries- don’t sleep on it!

    I had the perfect dinner here for Valentine’s Day! Great food, atmosphere and staff all around. Appetizers to dessert was all delicious. I am not even a fan of Kale but even their Kale Caesar Salad was so tasty; I finished it.I definitely recommend this place.

    I went in there for lunch. Great burger, it was a ground up ribeye steak.One of the better burgers I’ve ever had. I was in there early so it wasn’t very busy.I would certainly revisit this place when I am back in Manhattan

    Exceeded already high expectations. Excellent service, food and ambience. The only small issue is that it gets pretty loud when people start to arrive, but definitely not a deal breaker. Michael came around to our table, welcomed us and really made the entire experience that much more personal and special. He even interrupted his lunch to thank us on the way out.     Big fan of Michaels. Worked in the area for several years and had great business lunches a few times a year. Because I lived in a different part of the city, I never thought to try it for dinner. Recently, I was looking for a classic NYC fine dining restaurant in midtown good for families with kids for a family birthday celebration. A friend suggested we try Michaels and they delivered! The lovely hostess made it magical for our kids upon entry, we were treated with the table in the window, the food was fresh and tasty and the kids loved it! There is not a kids menu but they will do kids pasta, simple burger, steak, chicken, etc. One of our kids - the pickiest eater - ordered a butter pasta and said it was the best they ever had. We all tried it and agreed, had to order another!There is a pretty limited wine selection but all were very good. Beer selection could be improved. The classic room has been the setting for many business deals and I have fond memories of a few, enhanced by our recent family experience. Love the laid-back but first-class vibe and unpretentious service. Highly recommend!

    Wow this place is a hidden gem!!! We walked in for a bite in the middle of shopping and it was honestly some of the best food I’ve had yet in NYC. The sliders are a MUST!! Basdeo, the manager was so sweet and accommodating. Cozy and cute and such a fun NYC vibe! We had such a great time. 10/10 food and drinks a must try!!!

    Michaels is the perfect fine dining experience. I came here for my mothers 40th birthday and I really want to thank the staff for making it memorable. A complimentary birthday cake was given to us and the staff sang her happy birthday. The setting is luxurious and the wait staff have everything down to absolute perfection. The margarita pie was warm and cheesy and the fish was well seasoned and presented. I want to thank the manager Basdeo for making our night so special.

    Food is ok, not spectacular as I had expected from previous reviews. The tomato was very good, but the rest was not very tasty. Service was great, the waiter’s was very attentive. The chair was badly worn and is in need of some tlc. It was not very busy when I was there.

    I had dinner at Michaels with my daughter and best friend in NYC. I don’t often take the time to recommend a restaurant but not only was the food amazing, the service by Darlene was exceptional. She was so sweet and caring and joyful. You rarely meet someone so beautiful inside out that is worth mentioning & recommending. Ask for this beautiful soul to serve you if you go to Michaels!

    We were there for a private function, so I cant speak for the main restaurant, but the food was great and the service charming and unobtrusive.     This was an incredible experience! My mother in law took me and my two children (ages 4 and 6) to NYC for a Broadway show and dinner. The show was fantastic, but as you can imagine, the city was incredibly crowded as it was the holiday season. We arrived at Michaels with two fatigued, grumpy and hungry children. The staff was incredibly gracious and helpful. They brought my children markers and paper for them to color on. A manager came over and spoke with us for several minutes.. The service was quick and extremely friendly. The food was delicious and beautifully presented . As we were leaving the manager came over and thanked us for stopping in and even refered to me by name despite the restaurant and staff being incredibly busy. I give this restaurant an A++ rating for their gracious service, friendly staff and delicious food!

    Excellent restaurant with delicious dishes, friendly and professional staff, comfortable interior. I had the Korean steak tacos, the lobster risotto, and hazelnut chocolate cake. Everything was delicious and you would enjoy each dish. Highly recommended.

    So I have had this deal with one of my business partner’s daughters who lives in the city for a few years. She agrees to find amazing places to go to lunch or dinner for us to catch up when I’m in NYC and I agree to treat. This was the spot she chose for lunch on this last trip and as usual her selection hit it out of the park. The food was amazing! And the service was some of the best Ive had in the city. You could tell that several of the tables were locals and that this was a place they frequented. A true local gem!

    What can I say, or better what cant I say? Michael went above and beyond, he served all our dishes by balancing them on his head, he fed me with my own special spoon. Once I was stuffed, and utterly delighted, swimming in the flavours produced my Michaels eclectic kitchen, he rubbed my belly and sent me off to sleepy land whilst singing sweet sweet lullabies. The world does not deserve this man nor his culinary genius

    Interesting and delicious food, which was refreshing and un-cloying. There is a Californian vibe to the dishes, which have an Asian fusion hint. Service was knowledgable, welcoming and very polished. The simple dining room allows the food to shine, but is complemented by the original works of art on the walls. It’s not cheap, but you get what you pay for!

    A somewhat see-and-be-seen place where the service is pretty good. The drinks are quite good. The menu is fine and the food is appetizing but its not going to blow you away or anything. Its also on the expensive side. Ive been to a few events here and the audio is pretty good in the front, but in the back room its trickier.

    Food and service used to be better...even for us media types. Almost impossible to have a work-related conversation if youre in the biz. Fun to people watch if you know the titles. Disappointed that the free cookies are no longer served and LA, the sommelier is no longer there. I would call it 80s Californian due to the heave sauces and uninventive menu of yesteryear, though service is very good.

    We had lunch at Michaels and took advantage of the Restaurant Week offerings. We had a 1:30 reservation which we were late for as it seemed like it took forever to get into the city on Friday. We called to let them know we would be late and were treated graciously and thanked for the call. The decor is bright and fresh. We were seated at a nice table that afforded us to view the entire restaurant, including the celeb guests that are reported to often visit. Unfortunately, we didnt see anyone but such is the case on a Friday afternoon mid-summer. Our waiter was very helpful in selecting our wine. He recommended a marvelous Torrebruna Brunello which I loved. My dining companion selected the Whispering Angel Rose. We both decided upon the Summer Chopped Salad with Pistachio and Thai Vinaigrette. There was an abundance of flavors in this salad that we both described as fresh. Roasted corn, plums, watercress, mint, cilantro all contribute to this incredible salad. At the recommendation of our waiter we both ordered the grilled barramundi sea bass. The salsa verde was delicious. We both enjoyed our meal tremendously and thought that we were satisfied without feeling too full. We opted to try the dessert as we spied a neighboring table order a yummy looking strawberry and meringue parfait. They also offered homemade gelato which was spectacular (we tried the pistachio). We hadnt realized that the restaurant closed between lunch and dinner until we left. One reason we didnt know was the friendly staff did not rush us at all. Wonderful experience!

    Stayed nearby and was looking for a nice place to eat nearby. Michaels fit the bill. Great service and good choice of small and large plates. We shared the Mushroom Bisque, Korean tacos and the duck breast. Finished off with cheese plate and pumpkin cheesecake. The food was very good. Good compromise betweensome of the really expensive restaurants in the area and the local bars in the area.

    This restaurant is great, we were walking around trying to find a good restaurant, after trying several places with long wait times Michael’s was full but had a waiting area Where we could order drinks and appetizers. By the time we sat down and ordered drinks our table was ready. The service there is impeccable, The people are nice and food came out fast and it was spectacular. I would highly recommend it and will be visiting again.

    We enjoyed the atmosphere and the retro-feel decor; all that we ordered was delicious, and the dessert especially. Service was rather underwhelming. It seems that service here is dependant upon whether or not you are a regular and/or whether the staff know you. However, I would return because the food is very worthwhile. I would recommend to go during lunch time.

    Every time I visit New York City, I make a point to eat at Michaels. The food and service are always impeccable. On my last visit, my dining partners and I shared appetizers of shrimp tacos and black truffle pizza. I ordered the hamachi (melt in your mouth) and the kale caesar salad, which was perfectly dressed. Of course by this time we were all stuffed, but we managed to eat a few mini cookies and some bites of sorbet for dessert. My high expectations of the food and service were met, as usual. I highly recommend Michaels and I will be back next time Im in NYC!

    Thank you, su chef Benskin! This is truly a hidden gem. I had a four coarse meal at Michaels for my birthday and raise the bar for my dinning experience. From the hostess, to the maitre d, the cuisine, outdoor decor, the wait staff, to the guest themselves. This was way more than my little heart expected. There seem to be a lot of business lunches at the time but Micheals certainly ready to meet or exceed customers expectations. YOLO!!!

    Delightful lunch. Bibb lettuce salad with slivers of crunchy veggies ( radish, cucumber) to keep it interesting. My friend had a lovely omelet and I had the Alaskan wild salmon because it was served with fiddlehead ferns. Morels completed the dish. Kasi Shelton, the friendly and hospitable sommelier, poured half glasses of just the right wine for each of us. Service was attentive but paced to you, which in our case was leisurely .
