The atmosphere was great! Loved the old school look of the bar, it was fantastic! Ordered the Black Label Burger, medium, and it was exceptional. My friends ordered the same thing, the same way, and it was just too rare! Make sure to ask for medium+ on the burger. Other than that everything was very good! Our waiter and support staff were phenomenal. -

Old-school New York vibes and wow, one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! It melts in your mouth and is incredibly delicious. The overall vibe here was really great too. I’ll definitely be back. -

Delightful food and super nice service, the ambiance is old New York style but a bit too hot and stuffy, i would recommend stronger AC in the dining room. The crowd was a mix of locals, business diners, couples on dates. Overall people were dressed quite casually and i felt the ambiance would win from more elevated dress code. The black label burger was amazing as expected as well as my pan seared branzino and octopus salad. But the foie-gras terrine was a bit underwhelming. And the signature chocolate souffle was a real highlight, it says for two, but it was so airy i would eat it alone.A reservation tip: if no availability on Resy call directly and sometimes they can fit you in. -

Divine food, atmosphere, cocktails and dessert. When you enter the restaurant it feels as if you’re into an old, luxurious New York jazz club. 100% recommended but make sure to book weeks in advance or else it’s highly doubtful you’ll find a table on time. -

Minetta Taven, located in the West Village, is so iconic. Im absolutely obsessed with this spot!! I popped-in for the first time this month with friends for cocktails & appetizers around dinnertime, and our experience was incredible. The atmosphere inside of Minetta Tavern is so warm + cozy, and the staff are SO kind. :-) Tony, our server, took such great care of our group during our visit!! For cocktails, I recommend their White Rabbit (its so fresh + delicious). My friends shared their Black Label Burger with fries; they said the burger was amazing (and I can attest that their fries are really yummy). Im so excited to return here in the future - I cannot recommend this place enough! -

We made reservations post-broadway show for my SO’s birthday celebration. What a memorable experience! Minetta Taverna will be on our list to dine at every NY trip from now on. Not only was our server, Stephani, a detail oriented and extraordinary host to us, she gave us incredible recommendations and had our meal coursed out for us too.We started with a glass of wine and a cocktail and ordered the lobster croquettes. We’re fond of Spain and the croquettes at Minetta Tavern were better than those we’ve tried in Spain! Perfect crisp and flavor. We shared the mussels and fries next and let me tell you… the sauce…. just wow. That sauce has been in my dreams since our visit. It’s the perfect balance of luxurious silk rolling on the tongue layered with a brightness from the wine. Excellent and executed beautifully. We finished by sharing the burger which was a recommendation from our close friend who’s visited the restaurant before and recommended to us in the first place. The burger was cooked to perfect medium rare and not leaving us feeling like we had a rich or heavy dish. It’s been a while since I have dined at a restaurant with staff who care. It’s the little things I find special in dining that makes the dining experience more of an event than just ‘grabbing dinner’. Details worth mentioning include being escorted to the ladies room (I find this thoughtful) and changing the table linens before the dessert course. Our server/host surprised us with her recommended soufflé (grand marnier) and a candle on the side for my SO’s birthday, at the stroke of midnight! What a way to start a birthday weekend and make my SO feel extra special.Do give Minetta Tavern a try! -

Burger lived up to hype as one of the best. We shared the burger and a French dip. Fries need more mention. They were amazing, too. Busy during lunch and small space, but a cool old school vibe. -
Review 8 (2024-07-13 - Rating: 5)
Bone marrow on the toast with a pinch of salt was awesome as an appetizer with a nice IPA beer. their burger is so juicy and flavorful but for ME as a sauce lover there was something missing. if they had a garlic aioli or truffle aioli to get on side that would definitely take the experience to the next level 🔥🔥🔥. -
Review 9 (2024-05-08 - Rating: 5)
A must visit when in New York! The atmosphere is electric with so many people and the nice interior design. The food was excellent. The soufle was one of the fluffiest, lightest desserts that I’ve ever had. We were pampered by the staff who were extremely attentive, knowledgable and caring. You must make a reservation beforehand. -
Review 10 (2023-12-15 - Rating: 5)
I understand why this spot is a village institution - it’s difficult to secure a reservation but once you’re in, you feel like you’ve joined a club of insiders who love good food. The burgers are definitely tasty - they’re chunky and juicy. Black Label has a good funk going with the dry aged beef but honestly the regular Minetta Burger will satisfy you well enough. Had the lobster bisque special and was very happy with it especially in the weather. Service was friendly and full of smiles which made for a great lunch! -
Review 11 (2023-08-23 - Rating: 5)
A classic. You can get in for bar seats, and people were taking the burger to-go as takeout throughout our meal. My wife had a PERFECT french omelette, I had a crispy and super tasty French Dip, with a martini for brunch! Do try and reserve a table, and if youre more than two the idea of a walk-in will be rough, and a wait. But this is such a classic spot, with so much history, its definitely my version of comfort food for a brick and mortar spot. Also, they go DEEP on whiskey, including some Pappy Van bottles. But this will be a regular spot for me, alongside the Olive Tree Cafe for our visits to Comedy Cellar, which is just a few second walk from the front door. Its an institution, and the entire menu is fantastic. The barkeeps even better, and the drinks better than that! Thanks all! -

I was told this place has a great burger. It has so much more. It was the best burger I ever had but the whole experience was incredible. -
Review 13 (2023-09-07 - Rating: 5)
One of my favourite restaurants in New York. Their food and drinks are great and the atmosphere of the restaurant can’t be beat. If you’re looking for an authentically New York dining spot, I highly recommend this place. Steak tartare was amazing. One of the best burgers I’ve had in a while and the pasta was as good as any. -
Review 14 (2024-08-25 - Rating: 4)
Food is fantastic, service as well. Location is nice but overly crowded, if you go as a couple your table ends up being only one inch away from the next couple’s table. Very awkward. -

Love the Black Label Burger. I stop in on every trip to Manhattan. Eat at the bar, enjoy a cocktail or two and feast on the best burger in town! -
Review 16 (2023-02-15 - Rating: 5)
Booked a reservation for a valentines dinner with my girls. I was 20 minutes early but was still seated early. The interior is very like old themed and the lights were dim it was very nice. We didn’t get any of the starters because we knew we wouldn’t finish our entrees if we did. We ordered black label burger, honey glazed duck breast and the truffle roasted half chicken. We had breads served as something to munch on. Really good bread. Our food came fast and I have got to say everything was delicious. The half chicken was really juicy and not dry at all. The burger doesn’t have any sauce but it was still good because it wasn’t dry. The duck breast was very tender. And the fries were delicious. Our waiter recommended we get the chocolate soufflé which is a 20-25 minute wait. It was WORTH the wait it’s so good. It’s not too sweet and the inside was oozing with like the soft cake. Get it with the vanilla ice cream! I definitely recommend grabbing dinner here. -
Review 17 (2022-07-22 - Rating: 4)
Always a safe bet when you are looking for great service and a meal. We had the burgers, the duck, and the bone marrow (one of my favorite dishes here). Everything is done to perfection and I have to say it is one of the best burgers in the city, the meat is incredible. Safer to make a reservation or go early in the day. -
Review 18 (2024-12-19 - Rating: 4)
Hadn’t been to this spot for a minute, was so great to experience it again. Matt is a great bartender, sweet, knowledgeable, professional and fun. Tuna crudo was a disappointment. Was surprised when it came as a tartar. Pine nuts didn’t belong, not toasted, tasted stale and from a bag. Great drinks, amazing burger, good time overall thanks to bar staff. -
Review 19 (2023-01-29 - Rating: 4)
The food was amazing. I think their burger is the best Ive had in NYC. The service was alright and the atmosphere was pretty loud if you are by the bar. Id go back again but ideally just for the burger. -
Review 20 (2024-07-01 - Rating: 5)
Lovely service and we tried the Minetta vs the Aged burger and all 3 said we preferred the Aged Minetta due to the caramelized onions and the texture. This place has classic NYC vibes. -
Review 21 (2024-09-14 - Rating: 5)
Lively, old NY vibe with great food and attentive service. I was able to get a table for one in the middle of the day on a Friday. Ordered the Minetta Burger, cooked to a medium temperature. Slightly more red than I’m used to, but likely correct. More fries than I needed. Really yummy! Would go again. -
Review 22 (2025-01-03 - Rating: 5)
We were visiting New York for a lovely Christmas Trip! I was recommended Minetta by a client (downloaded the Resy app & set a reminder to book once reservation were available) Friday 20th Dec! It did not disappoint, our waiter was so attentive and wonderful, he remembered everything! Minetta itself was very busy, unfortunately we were seated by the bar, so had quite a lot of people who were noisy and stood right next to us! We didn’t let it ruin our time though! We ordered the steak tartare, clam chowder, steak & frites, the hake along with a lovely bottle of red! The meal was not cheap, like everything in New York, but totally worth it for a charming restaurant with excellent food and service. -
Review 23 (2023-12-11 - Rating: 5)
Stumbled upon this place as a solo diner and it is absolutely great! The crudo is a great appetizer. Light, citrusy, fresh, great portion and just what you need to get a fun dinner going. The Dover sole is phenomenal. Sole can be a bit bland at times but this dish has so much flavor and complexity. Totally defied what I expected. Same with the soufflé and coconut cake (not in the photos). Service is amazing as well. Highly recommend! -
Review 24 (2024-03-18 - Rating: 5)
It’s an expensive restaurant but the burger was probably one of the best we eaten!the atmosphere is very nicethe only thing you should be aware is the waiting timewe ordered a table for 9pm (on a Sunday) and waited 15 minutes for an available table -
Review 25 (2022-06-12 - Rating: 5)
New York is one of the states known for good foods. And since its closer to Europe you kind of feel the same vibes. Well, when me and my girlfriends decided to look for a place to eat. We decided not to miss Minetta Tavern on one of our lists to go to. It was an amazing experience. The service was great and had extraordinary delicious food. From appetizers to your main entree and your desserts are something you will never forget. This place is highly recommended 💯 -
Review 26 (2018-12-30 - Rating: 5)
Great meal! We had sparkling wine with the seared foie gras for starters. Very well done, but quite sweet. After that, we had the famous black label burger and its definitely worth it. The patty is huge so bring a good appetite. We chose to go with medium rare, which was, just as our server mentioned, a tad on the less cooked side. We were completely fine with it and chose to go ahead and were happy with it. However, its good to know it when making your choice. Fries were also nice, but the star was definitely the burger. Very good ambiance and excellent service, a must try! -
Review 27 (2024-06-04 - Rating: 5)
One of the first steak dinners Ive had since changing from vegetarian to meat diet. I absolutely loved it. We started with butter lettuce salad and heirloom tomato salad. Light and fresh, prepping for the meat to come! We then shared the Minetta burger and black label burger, both tasted delicious. We then had the Dry aged côte de boeuf which came with bone marrow, and the scallops as the main course. The flavors of everything we ordered was delicious, the cocktails were fabulous, the wine selection was great. We had the chocolate soufflé at the end, it was so airy, fluffy and delicious. I would definitely repeat the same dishes again if I return. Superb! -
Review 28 (2022-01-04 - Rating: 4)
I recently had Christmas Eve lunch here on a whim, and I thought everything was pretty good. We sat at the bar and the vibe is very old New York. The bartender was courteous but not overly friendly, which I prefer most times. We ordered the black label burger and the French dip and both were excellent and the fries were especially amazing. I actually preferred the French dip over the famous burger. I only could finish half of my French dip, and I brought leftovers home. Somehow my cat got into it while we werent paying attention and was munching on the roast beef. It was probably the best bite of his life! -
Review 29 (2023-10-21 - Rating: 5)
I went to try the famous black labble burger here. I liked it, but I didnt find it exceptional. On the other hand, I tried the duck dish, and it was absolutely delicious. The dessert, a soufflé, was incredible -
Review 30 (2023-02-05 - Rating: 4)
Delicious burger, but pretty expensive for what you get - even by NYC standards. Bone marrow was pretty good but some of the bones were basically empty.Service was okay but food took almost an hour between the appetizer and the main which was way too long. -
Review 31 (2022-09-21 - Rating: 5)
Foods were amazing, best burger I’ve ever tried. Highly recommend to make reservations beforehand. The waitress was nice, and the vibe here was lively. I will come back to New York for the burger. -
Review 32 (2021-08-13 - Rating: 5)
Delicious food, excellent service, and fantastic ambiance! I recommend going there as soon as they open for fewer people. We didnt make any reservations, but because we got there the minute, they open we got a table. (Monday) but theyre fully booked.WE GOTHouse-made fettuccine, which I highly recommend getting because that pasta is DELICIOUS we have to order one more. Its tasty, decent portion and pasta are perfectly cooked.Black Label BurgerIt comes with lots of fries, and the patty on the burger is savory and huge. It was delicious. I cant say anything wrong about it! One of the best burgers I ever had.Roasted Chicken BreastMy least favorite dish. However, it delicious but not as good as the fettuccine and burger for me.MUST TRYSoufflé with CHOCOLATEOne of the best desserts I ever had it was freshly made so they ask before they drop your entrées. It takes 20 minutes to cook. It has a little crunch on the top and soft inside. I also recommend adding ice cream on the side. -
Review 33 (2023-03-15 - Rating: 5)
The black label burger tells the high quality of their beef cuts selection just enough (medium cook is great)👌🏼✨the frites’ taste is unexpectedly out of this world!!!! we love the escargot and it came in large portion. defly recommend this tho we’re not that lucky to encounter any celeb that day😂 -
Review 34 (2019-03-24 - Rating: 4)
So good but also some misses. I love the atmosphere and vibe the most. People are right about being transported to another time. I sat outside across from the bar (not the main dining room). Great for people watching and enjoying the ambiance.Service was very good and there are some slight misses (timing of bring utensils, etc). The food is very good. Though I think the burger is overrated and under salted. I got the Minetta burger. The meat itself was a while inch thick! Very filling. The bone marrow was very delicious. Be warned...it is decadent! Heavy! The escargots were also delicious. Very buttery. I wish it had more sauce for bread dipping. The trout with crab meat was a real winner! It’s light and had a enjoy combination of flavors and textures.Overall a very nice date experience. It’s not cheap, but you already know that going in. Oh...and they’re generous with the pours. -
Review 35 (2024-07-20 - Rating: 4)
This place has an excellent vibe and very well decorated. Classic French menu with a twist! We were seated next to the restroom and asked to be moved and the hostess made up some story about the owner wanting the table we wanted, honestly she killed our vibe and was pretty rude. The grilled oysters were very very good! Pappardelle lacked flavor and texture. The cod was excellent, as was the steak. Make sure to get the soufflés - so airy, light and delicious -
Review 36 (2021-05-24 - Rating: 5)
Great atmosphere and friendly service. Ordered fillet and Black burger. They were delicious. But unsure if it tastes better than their regular burger. Please bring back your cheesecake! -
Review 37 (2022-06-13 - Rating: 5)
One of New York City’s most iconic spots and I now know why. The vibe is incredible. You feel like you’re in old school NYC like the movies. It really takes you back. We sat in the back dining room and had the famous Minetta Burger (holy smokes the caramelizes onions are so good) and the Housemade Cavatelli. I regret not ordering the Bone Marrow as the person next to me got it and it looked amazing. The bread is dangerous as well because it’s so fresh and baked perfectly that it’s easy to fill up on. -
Review 38 (2021-06-01 - Rating: 5)
What a great dining experience! Our server was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is cozy, perfect for date night. The bartenders do an amazing job with any cocktail you ask for - get a dirty martini. The duck, burger and souffle are must try items on the menu. -
Review 39 (2021-08-29 - Rating: 5)
Worth every bite/penny/sip! The shrimp special of the day was the perfect balance to the bone marrow and black label burger. Espresso martini was strong and delicious. -
Review 40 (2021-07-12 - Rating: 4)
Your typical tavern with bar food in HUGE portions and lots of extra butter. I don’t know what they do with their caramelized onions but those are really the bomb. It came with the burger - made it better and I wish there was more, it was on the side with the bone marrow - honestly outshone the bone marrow itself which was a little under seasoned. The oxtail ragu was such an unexpected highlight though, with the noodles being soft and the oxtail flavours shining through the sauce.Tavern food isn’t a personal favourite because of how heavily oiled everything is, and this was no exception. Great hangover food though. Our service was great, really fast and prompt. -
Review 41 (2022-11-02 - Rating: 4)
We went for the black label burger and were not disappointed. It’s not worth $38 in principle, but you’re essentially paying for the experience. Ambience is delightfully old-school New York, and the waitstaff are prompt and attentive. Burger itself was very, very tasty (we had it medium rare), with a good cook and not-too-mushy interior. Fries that came with burger were also really delicious. Minetta Tavern probaly gets away with a lot on the basis of its reputation, but it’s still worth a visit. -
Review 42 (2018-05-27 - Rating: 4)
Minetta Tavern is a charming little place. You need reservations if you plan to come here. They’re usually packed. Tables are a little close to each other. The black label burger is as good as everyone says it is. I’d also highly recommend the coconut cake for dessert. It was airy and full of flavor. The waiters were very kind and attentive. -
Review 43 (2021-11-18 - Rating: 5)
Visited this infamous celeb magnet restaurant, was not disappointed at all, the hype is real, everything is exactly what I would expected and more, I had the dry aged burger super delicious and flavorful, and the thick cut bacon is even better, perfectly smoked and cooked to perfection, and the fries is just perfect. Also the interior the vibe is just right, if you ever visit NYC don’t miss this one. -
Review 44 (2024-08-18 - Rating: 5)
JUST WOW. We entered after walking out (first time ever) of a nearby restaurant about 5 minutes in. Loud, disappointing wine list and just not our vibe. That said, we stood on the sidewalk and contemplated our next move for having dinner on a VERY lovely, but very busy typical summer Saturday night in NYC.Then...Fate had its way once again. We knew from the very moment we walked in to this jam-packed, classic, old school, NYC-vibe setting and it very quickly didnt matter that we would have to wait - however long - to be seated for what would turn out to be an absolutely stellar, authentic and special dining experience. We were greeted by the most welcoming host I can recall ever encountering.I could continue to gush, but suffice it to say you MUST experience Minetta Tavern. Dont walk, run. -
Review 45 (2024-11-25 - Rating: 5)
Great burger and wonderful bone marrow. The space is a little cramped and a little depressing with no windows but the food and service were great. -
Review 46 (2021-08-07 - Rating: 5)
Classic spot. Real Paris vibes and tremendous service! Server recommended tequila in the expresso martini, and it did not disappoint. Smuggler was an exceptional cocktail as well.Reputed to have the best burger in the city, but you’ll be jealous when you see the steaks come out.Overall though it’s the service and the atmosphere that makes this place iconic, highly recommend!! -
Review 47 (2024-08-07 - Rating: 4)
Lovely service and classic food, definitely get the soufflé! -
Review 48 (2022-06-19 - Rating: 5)
Ive been here multiple times, and every time I cant help but get the bone marrow and the black label burger. The black label burger at the time of writing is $38 and Id get it again and again. Not my favourite dry-aged burger in the city, but definitely delicious. -
Review 49 (2018-06-20 - Rating: 4)
Great tavern with some very good burgers and fries. Local feel within the village. Plenty of drink options from beer and wine to cocktails. They have very good drinks and the bar folks know what they are doing. Very nice vibe and a pretty cool interior. -
Review 50 (2024-07-22 - Rating: 5)
Popped into this New York institution for a solo lunch and it was a worthwhile experience. I got a free glass of champagne for dining solo and ordered the Black Label Burger.I really appreciated the quality of the meat they used and it was cooked perfectly. It was missing a bit of salt and the bun soaked through but one of the best burgers I have had in the city. The service was excellent and hoping to return to try the bone marrow another time. -
Review 51 (2019-09-06 - Rating: 5)
Really cool ambiance like a speakeasy with great service. We shared the Cote de boeuf and my wife had the black label burger. Extremely tasty steak but the burger was not as good as the hype. Otherwise it’s an awesome experience! -
Review 52 (2024-08-18 - Rating: 4)
The steak for two was surprisingly good, temp and crust were all spot on. And as everyone else has mentioned the burger and fries combo were amazing. Can’t fault it at all. French onion soup and the potato gratin were just ok, nothing out of the ordinary. -
Review 53 (2024-06-10 - Rating: 5)
We had a reservation for a busy Friday night for a celebratory dinner. We did have to wait in the bar area which was standing room only and a tight squeeze for about 15 minutes. After being seated we had the grilled island creek oysters as an appetizer and they were OUTSTANDING. Theres so much talk about the burger but the oysters should be mentioned even more. I loved the service and the food. I look forward to visiting again when I return! Dont forget to order dessert! -
Review 54 (2021-10-27 - Rating: 5)
I had a nice relaxing solo lunch here, I wasn’t rushed and everyone was very polite in a quaint old school way. My first time having an oyster mary which was delicious, and I got the bone marrow lunch which was HUGE and melted in your mouth, spread on fresh toasty baguette.Enjoyed the paté de campagne too and some rosé. I sat outside but would like to try inside too since the decor is so nice. -
Review 55 (2024-08-31 - Rating: 5)
Minetta Tavern, an old-fashioned French bistro known for their meat dishes, particularly the burger, the steak, the thick-cut bacon and more. The exterior is quite elusive: showing nothing inside. The lightning is dark inside, with a light jazzy music. Upon entrance I was instantly hit with the a buttery aroma. Even when I am not that hungry, the classical conditioning made me salivate a bit.The rumor is real, first and foremost, they do give lone eater a glass of champagne on the house, freshly and bubbly. Even for one person they gave a big loaf of semi baguette with butter on the side. The bread is chewy, warm, and crunchy on the outside. I do feel the butter is a bit lacking flavor though. The Black Label BurgerThe toasted sesame bun is toasted with butter and tasted moldy sweet, has a bit cottony texture, yet when eaten with meat the meat flavor dominates. The top bun has a lot of nutty sesames, and they are super crispy when eaten. The bottom bun, on the contrary, soaks up all the meat juice and is crushed into a thin layer. Since it is dry-aged, the meat patty has a cheesy flavor besides beefiness even without the cheese. The patty is seasoned well, and they put an additional finished touch of salt on the surface. Outside is bit crusty, and inside is all juicy. The tomato is not watery, it has a texture when eaten with the patty and the sweet, mushed, caramelized onions. The pickle is outstanding: acidic, juicy, mildly sweet, and has a bit of crunch.I replaced the fries with petite salad, which was coated with olive oil and salt, not bad and not super. I also had the thick-cut bacon, which comes in with 2 pieces. These are thick, fatty, come in on a hot plate so they still sizzle a bit. When hot, the smoked flavor really is prominent, I like when it is a bit cold so the smokeness doesn’t compete with the pork’s intrinsic sweetness that much. The service is outstanding: my waitress is quick and accommodating. The food came within 5mins of ordering (yeah medium-rare burger doesn’t cook for long lol). I ordered a burger and bacon side but I went home a lot of leftover bacon with a semi-baguette, and a stomach full of happiness. -
Review 56 (2024-09-21 - Rating: 5)
The Black Label burger is so delicious and earns its reputation. However the star of our meal was the Coté de Boeuf. It’s a rib steak grilled over an open flame. They present the perfectly cooked steak to you before expertly slicing it. Bonus, the bone marrow is included and tastes like meat butter. It says for 2 but can easily feed 3. -

Magnificent service! Walked in when I️ knew all tables were reserved. Didnt hurt to ask if there were any last minute cancellations...Hostess let us have a table, with a hard stop after 90 min. Hey, I️ can negotiate! Came here for their famous Minerva Burger as I️ believe top 5 burgers in NYC. Old school NY atmosphere with extremely attentive servers and bus boys. Will come back sooner than a couple of weeks and I️ hardly ever do that. -

Ordered a new York steak medium rare and it was more well done. The staff checked if everything was okay noticed the difference and organised a replacement. What can I say great service and quality food. -

Well known for their burgers. They never disappoint. Service is always great as well. I always take everyone that visits me to this place so I highly recommend it.The one small negative I have is that there are a lot of tables so depending on where you sit sometimes it can be a little tough to move -

Can’t believe I’ve lived in NYC/NJ as long as I have and hadn’t made it to Minetta Tavern until last weekend for an early Saturday night dinner before catching a show uptown. We had no reservation but based off other reviews got there early, 5:20-ish, and scored two seats at the bar. Bartenders were top notch, friendly & total pros. I had the duck confit & wife had the steak au poivre. For apps we had the lobster salad & grilled oysters. Wine list is great and they offer half bottles too. Really one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Interior is absolutely gorgeous, old New York and could be a movie set. Dark, classic, and very romantic. Highly, highly recommend for anyone looking for a great meal in a classic French bistro. -

I was walking around the area with the misses and decided to pop in without a reservation for brunch. The hostest was terrific, she managed to get us a table for the two of us even though it was quite busy at that time which was wonderful in itself. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. I had the minetta burger which was cooked exactly as I asked for it with perfectly done fries and the wife had the Belgian waffle which was to die for. The decor and atmosphere was very nice as well. We hit the trifecta today and it was very satisfying. We will be back for dinner with reservations lol. -

I’ve dined here multiple times over the years and it’s consistently outstanding. This time, Matt took good care of me: professional, polite and made helpful suggestions. I had the croquets as an appetizer, they were excellent. The Black Label Burger should not be missed: prime beef cuts, cooked on a flat top with clarified butter, topped with caramelized onions. It’s $38 but it’s essentially a prime steak on a homemade Brioche Bun. Chased with a glass of Bordeaux Blend. Old school vibe but execution was timeless… -

Very busy place with good food, great drinks and great desert. You need to make a reservation ahead of time as the place gets packed - at it absolute worth it. We’ve been there several times and always enjoyed it. They have pretty good soufflé too (hard to find a good one in the city without prex fix menu). The service is also very good, all the waiters are friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back here many more times! -

If youre looking for a delicious burger in a chic setting, Minetta Tavern is the spot for you. The burgers here are some of the best in the city, and theyre served up with a side of delicious fries. The atmosphere at Minetta Tavern is perfect for a casual night out with friends, and the prices are reasonable for a NYC restaurant. definitely check this place out if youre in the mood for a burger -

Great restaurant with supposedly one of the top 5 burgers in nyc. I wanted to try it for a long time and finally got a chance. Though the burger was really good, I dont know if its worth the $40 price tag. You could probably get better burgers for half the price in many other ny restaurants. Still, I liked the place and the food and recommended giving it a try! -

The place is pretty nice with a cozy ambiance, dark and classy decoration. The food is pretty rich in flavor and detailed with ingredients although I felt like for the price you may pay it can be considered overpriced or overrated. We ordered the steak frites and the minette burger and both were really nice with fresh ingredients and good quality. The service we got from Luis was 10/10, really attentive and charismatic. In general the service is amazing.Regarding the place, I felt a bit squeezed and with no space to move although every table at the restaurant is the same, the concept of a tavern is a small place with lots of tables and people.Overall a nice experience. -

Review 79 (2024-03-27 - Rating: 5)
Really excellent food served up in this iconic restaurant. The setting, staff and menu is really good. There was so much on the menu that I’ll have to return to try some other things. I went for the big name tickets and I wasn’t disappointed.🍔 The 8.5/10 Black Label Burger was top notch. The onions, patty and bun blended so well. I’d like a little more attention to detail on the bun (either fresher, toasted or coated in some interesting flavour) it was just quite plain. That would be fine if it t was leaving space for the flavour of the patty or onions but it wasn’t the case. The seasoning of the patty could have been better to really get that 10/10.🥩 The 8.5/10 Bone in New York Strip was another strong hit. The fat could have been rendered better and there could have been more flavour from the flame but the cooking of the strip was very good. The best part was the peppercorn coating. Sharp and strong - special! -

Minetta Tavern - The best restaurant in West Village. Enjoy the revamped atmosphere and space which still stays true to its classical feel. Everything here was great from the time you walk in. The staff is aware, friendly, and welcoming. The cocktails on point and most importantly the food is delicious. Start with the Roasted Bone Marrow - it comes out still bubbling warm! The Pasta Za Za is a carbonara made with fresh pasta, a tasteful pancetta, topped with a perfectly fried egg and parmesan. Finally and the one item which must be ordered. The Black Label Burger - even at $30 the burger is worth every dollar. Cooked to your liking but best enjoyed medium rare this selection of prime dry-aged beef with caramelized onions and thin cut perfectly fried pommes frites. Although Minetta Tavern can be a little pricey it is worth every dollar! -

When given the opportunity to leave an outstanding review, I do. If I don’t like a place I simply don’t go back. However, Minetta Tavern is a glaring representation of what a restaurant should be for me. Buzzing, dim lighting, white clothes, perfect food and elite modest service. A great restaurant isn’t meant to change your life, it’s meant to remind you that eating in your home will never be as romantic, inspiring and enjoyable as dining in a restaurant. Our server Stephanie, all the touch points were there, lovely sense of humour and dialled in on our service. The food was real, seasoned well and cooked exceptionally. Black angus burger was dumb good. This is it, this is top level NY dining, keep your stars—I’ll keep my Tavern. -
Review 83 (2018-07-29 - Rating: 5)
How does a burger without cheese earn a Michelin Star? Well, if you eat it after scraping bone marrow on sour dough and then grind aged meat into a patty cooked perfectly medium rare, that answer becomes apparent. Delicious food, generous bartenders, and a meal that shows why NY has such a density of great restaurants. -

Steak tartar. Burger. Souffle. Listen to me, or read here. According to Google Map I ranked in top 10% of french restaurant reviewer and oh yeah I am the french restaurants person. But their steak tartar and the burger are simply the best that earth can have. Maybe theres better in heaven but not down here on this planet. Which is blowing my own mind because I always believed that Balthazar had the best tartar. The atmosphere is cozy and couldnt be more New York. I have no clue how Mcnally did this but he rules the french connection in all of his places. No one can live in the city and never become an addict to Minetta Tavern.Swing by like us on a comedy club night and make the most out of the village. Sit at the bar or a table. Meet new people. Chat. Go with a friend. Have a cozy, break the ice date. -

I had always heard the legend of the Black Label Burger. I had high expectations for what friends called, The best burger they ever ate. The hype was through the roof. Honestly this burger had no chance, right? At first bite, I knew I had found an albatross. It is magnificent. It is magical. It is everything I could have wanted. Make it your mission to have one. Eat it, as is. No ketchup. Just eat it as it was intended. Wished I had come here many years ago when I first heard of its lore. Enjoy! -

Can we talk hamburger? This may be the best for me. And don’t even think about going for the catsup. It’s verboten. You’re likely to get your head chopped off. And it’s not needed. The meat is flavor enough. And juicy. Throw in bone marrow and The Godfather atmospherics and you’ve got yourself a satisfying evening. -

Minetta Tavern is such a charming place. The food tastes great and the atmosphere created by the staff (especially at the bar) is predisposing everyone to enjoy their time.Given the high quality of products, I was pleasantly surprised how well-priced the items on the menu were.First time, I had the Ribeye but had to go back and try the burgers as they are quite popular. Both meals tasted good but found the Ribeye more impressive. Also, on the dessert side - the Crème Brulé finds the perfect balance of tastes. Highly recommend! -

It’s been over a decade since I’ve visited this establishment. Had dinner solo while waiting for my friend to arrive to NY and had a wonderful meal. The staff were attentive without being overbearing. I had the black label burger with a side of salad. The burger was a hit as usual but what surprised me was how well done the side salad was. Even the next day I couldn’t stop raving about it to others. The greens were supremely fresh and perfectly dressed. I won’t wait another decade to visit again! -

Review 114 (2024-09-07 - Rating: 5)
Minetta Tavern has a notable reputation among NYC restaurants for a reason. From delicious seafood to savory burgers, this tavern’s moody golden interior sets the tone for an amazing brunch, lunch, or dinner. Start every meal with bread, butter, and a sprinkle of salt to pair with one of many cocktails or a simple bottled coke. I see many diners order the oysters or roasted bone marrow too, which I absolutely have to try. Waitstaff is always professional and knowledgeable about the menu, warm but not overbearing. Seating can get tight, as the dining room is not huge but still very comfortable. In the mood for something familiar but elevated? Try the Black Label Burger. For something more upscale, I’d suggest the striped bass, duck breast, or halibut. Truly, their menu has so many lovely dishes you can’t go wrong, but you can also ask the staff for recommendations. We always make a reservation beforehand because they book up quick for dinner and brunch, depending on the time. Perfect for date night or anniversaries, but also appropriate for co-workers and private events. -

I stopped in to Minetta Tavern random today. I sat at the bar. No need to say it but I’ll say it anyway. This place is old New York City classic, authentically. The bar is beautiful and the lighting is warm. It’s 90° in New York City today yet this place feels warm and cozy in the best possible way. The staff was inviting as well as attentive! That was the best part for me aside from the french fries.. amazing french fries! The Minetta burger was perfectly cooked juicy, delicious caramelized onions, 10 out of 10. -

My dining experience at Minetta Tavern was delightful. I visited on a Sunday night as a solo diner and waited about 30mins for a spot at the bar. It was a real celebration of dry aged beef cuts and not obscured by a ton of toppings. -

I’m so glad we decided to visit the legendary Minetta Tavern. The food, the ambiance, the service were all exemplary. Having dined a lot in NYC, I can say that the service and welcome were similar to a small family-run business; Kind, warm and welcoming all whilst having a full house on the night we attended. Highly recommended! -

Thrilled to be able to get a chance walk-in table for two. Good service, atmosphere is crowded & noisy in a good way. That said, expected more due to the hype. The shaved Brussels sprouts salad was great, but the lobster and the burger in particular was just fine. And for $38 I expect more than a fine burger. -

This place lived up to all of its hype and then some. The bone marrow was incredible. The black label burger was excellent, take it as it comes, if u want to add cheese just get the minetta burger. The cocktails were tasty, and very strong; I had the Murray sour but I heard the Rhubarb Sophie is a good choice. The service was just good, no one spit in my food and nobody wiped my butt either. -

I have enjoyed many a meal here in the past. Today I would say the restaurant is a little over run with no room to stand while waiting for your table and a bar packed with people eating.I would now categorize this as a tourist spot but I suspect if you can midweek for lunch you might be allright.Update- I was a little grumpy after a recent visit when I wrote this but have since had a note from the GM and am planning on revisiting shortly. I feel everyone deserves a second chance.Second update: so, we made a reservation thanks to the gracious GM and came in just after the holidays. We sat in a booth in the main dining room. While tight, there was plenty of room on our table. More importantly the food and service were impeccable. Never a rush, never pushy always gracious and hospitable.I would now say, you should really come and dine here but MAKE SURE you have a reservation and come on time. Waiting in the bar area is enough to make grown men cry, but if you plan ahead you will feel like royalty. -

Had the black label burger here and it was awesome. Patty was cooked medium rare and was very fragrant given the use of aged beef. The shoestring fries that came with the burger was awesome as well. The only minor issue was that they seated 5 of us at a table meant for 3-4 people so it was very crammed. Price point is on the higher end but would definitely come back for a burger. Great place to grab a bite if you plan to go to the comedy cellar later. -

Sunday brunch experience did not disappoint. Eggs Norwegian was excellent; lemon taste to the hollandaise sauce. Minetta Burger was one of the best and the fries were perfect. I love this place. Apparently they are famous for their burgers, but because I saw several people unable to finish their burgers, I ordered the filet mignon instead. It was cooked to perfection. It’s very nicely charred on the outside and so juicy and flavourful on the inside.I had to wait (stand) around the bar area as i didn’t have any reservation. Was told it would be a 45 minute wait but was ready in 30. Had a beer while waiting. While the steak was superb, I felt like the coconut cake + ice cream with the Sauternes was even better, and that’s not an easy feat. The cake was light and fluffy so it’s not too filling after the mains but still had rich coconut flavours. Ice cream was not overly sweet and balanced the cake well. -

I recently had a pleasure to eat at the Minetta Tavern and I was thoroughly impressed with their burger. The patty was made with high-quality meat that was seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was juicy, savory, and had a great texture. One of the things that really stood out to me was how well the burger was cooked. It was not too well done, but not too rare either - it was just right. The patty had a nice sear on the outside and was perfectly pink on the inside. In addition to the excellent meat quality and cooking, the toppings were all fresh and perfectly balanced. The cheese was melted to just the right consistency, and the lettuce and tomato were crisp and refreshing.Overall, the burger at Minetta Tavern was one of the best Ive ever had. If youre a fan of high-quality meat and perfectly cooked burgers, this is a restaurant you definitely dont want to miss. -

Iconic NY restaurant that doesn’t disappoint. Burgers were delicious. Have definitely had burgers as good elsewhere as well, but these are great. Fries, top notch. Soufflé was good but not amazing. We sat in the back room which was loud and lively but if you want a quieter experience try to sot in the front room.Back again and was delicious. French onion soup is one of the best I have ever had. Bone Marrow entree was delicious and abundant, a huge portion. Didn’t try but saw the steak for two being served. Will definitely return to try it looked like a beautiful piece of meet.Updating with a few more photos from another visit. As always food is great. -

Wow. I found this by searching for food nearby to the comedy cellar, and man did google nail it.I was sitting near the bar having a drink looking over the menu before I could actually get a seat. The staff were absolute legends, and we had a good conversation.Met a lady while she was waiting on her friend to show up. We sat down and chatted the whole time. She recommended the Filet, and I got it.Noticed there were Pommes Aligot on the menu and had to have it. I’ve only had this once in my life and had made it myself. It’s a PITA. It was delicious and I highly recommend this as your side. -

The burger is not what it used to be. No longer has the aged beef flavor I remember it used to have. Its still a good burger, but not the great burger that warranted their reputation. Staff was excellent. -

What a historic and amazing place this is! We make it a plan to come to Minetta every time we are in the City. Our MO is to order the following:1) Red wine from Pomerol (or any other place in Bordeaux) and the Farmacia cocktail (if you like mezcal) 5/52) black label burger 6/5. The best burger you will have. Period.3) at the same time of placing the entree order, order the chocolate soufflé (with a side of vanilla ice cream) so that it will be ready by the time you are done with your entree 5/5I have tried the steak frites and that was just ok 3/5. I would stick with the burgers. While casual vibes as totally accepted, I love putting on a jacket to enjoy this special place. Reservations are necessary so plan ahead. -

I was able to get a dinner reservation and the first thing we noticed is the old school charm. The staff was friendly but not overbearing, which is nice. We got the bone marrow and foie to start, and a black label burger and mussels for our entrees. The foie was amazing however the bone marrow was overly indulgent. This place is definitely worth checking out in you’re in the area just for the atmosphere. -

My dining experience at Minetta Tavern was impeccable. My friend and I had Fois Gras and Oysters as Appetizers, Strak Frites and Minetta Burger for our entrees, and topped it up with their delicious Soufflé for two.Everything was truly incredible, from the lively and yet cozy atmosphere, to the outstanding quality of food, and flawless service. It was my first time and will definitely be back for more.A huge thank you to the whole team again! -

Minetta Tavern never disappoints. The food is consistently excellent (their burgers and steaks yum!) and service is special. Love eating at the bar and watch the scenes. We went to celebrate our first New York City marathon and got a booth at the rear of the restaurant. The staff made us feel so special it was the cherry on top after this incredible day.A true New York City gem. -

As I stepped into the Mineta Tavern, the city I once knew had transformed. I had just returned from three weeks in Colombia, and New York City looked different through my weary travelers eyes. The Mineta Tavern, nestled in the heart of this ever-changing metropolis, promised to be a sanctuary for my gringo soul.Emilia, the remarkably friendly hostess, guided me to a seat at the bar. She suggested I try the signature cocktail, the Farmacia, crafted with mezcal. As the smoky elixir touched my lips, it was as if I could taste the essence of the Colombian countryside in each sip. It was a taste of nostalgia and adventure all in one.I followed Emilias counsel and ordered the medium rare Black Label burger. It arrived, a masterpiece on a plate, its juices oozing with promise. With each bite, the flavors danced upon my palate like a well-rehearsed tango. The Mineta Tavern had transported me from Colombia to culinary nirvana.Yet, amidst this gastronomic delight, there was an odd juxtaposition. The bar was overrun with finance bros, their bravado echoing off the walls. However, fate had other plans for me. I found myself seated between two captivating souls, Anne and the bartenders, Matt and John.Anne, a former gym enthusiast turned marathon runner, was fleeing her demons on the pavement, she confided. But despite her words, her beauty and apparent contentment betrayed her true feelings. She was like a character from one of Hemingways novels, searching for meaning in the rhythm of her footsteps.Matt and John, the bartenders, were masters of their craft. They mixed drinks with the precision of seasoned artisans and charmed patrons with their wit and humor. They were like old friends, sharing stories and laughter amidst the clinking of glasses. In the Mineta Tavern, surrounded by finance bros and fascinating souls, I found a slice of New York City I had never known before. It was a place where the taste of mezcal and a perfectly cooked burger were just the beginning of the adventure. It was a place where strangers became friends, and the citys heartbeat pulsed with every conversation. As I left that evening, I couldnt help but think that New York City, like Colombia, was a place of discovery. It had a story to tell, and in the Mineta Tavern, I had heard a chapter that left me craving for more. This was a night I would remember, a night where I saw the city in a different light, and for that, I was grateful. -

After following Minetta Tavern on social media for over a year I finally had the opportunity to have a meal there. Went there for lunch during an anniversary trip and my wife and I were given complimentary champagne when we were seated. We got the Minetta and Black Label burgers which we split. She preferred the Minetta and I preferred the Black Label. The Black Label had the best burger patty I’ve ever had. The fries were amazing. Service was fantastic. I also had the Some Like it Hot cocktail which was very good. Great atmosphere and just feels like you are stepping back in time. Highly recommend and I can’t wait to go back. -

I recently dined at Minetta Tavern and ordered the Black Label Burger, and it was an absolute delight! The ambiance of the place is charming and inviting. What stood out to me about the Black Label Burger was its simplicity, allowing the high-quality ingredients to shine. There were no unwanted flavors or overpowering sauces, just pure, exceptional taste. To make the experience even more special, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary glass of champagne on the house. While the price is on the higher side, the overall experience, including the free champagne, is worth every penny. I highly recommend you judge for yourself! -

French Restaurant specializing is making one of the better burgers I have eaten -- albeit one of the most expensive at the same time. For 28 dollars I was able to procure the gold standard black label burger. Im not going to lie... it was pretty amazing. But for 28 dollars I feel like I should have had something a bit more ...enjoyable... Dont get me wrong, I was not disappointed -- this burger was awesome. But burgers are cheap bourgeoisie foods.... I feel like I would have left as satisfied from shake shack. Personal preference -- however if you go... get the damn burger. The entire atmosphere is great, hostess was attentive, bartenders were friendly, service was quick to refill out glasses and provide our food. I would HIGHLY recommend this place as not one piece of food disappointed. -

I came here with the wife and kids on Thanksgiving. They were running the regular menu with some specials for the holiday. I got the venison which was a special. It was really good. My son got the Black label burger and my wife got the duck, both regular menu items. Great location, nice laid back atmosphere that still provides access to a top-level kitchen/bar. Its expensive, $350 with tip for the three of us. -

Such friendly and attentive service. Clean, and great atmosphere. The waiters know their stuff. Food and drinks were phenomenal , only thing I’d say is I think the minetta burger is better than the black label burger - and be prepared to spend a pretty penny there , with cocktails $18-33 a pop. -

We visited Minetta Tavern during our recent trip to NYC to celebrate my birthday. After a few recommendations from friends, we settled on this restaurant, and, were so glad that we did as it was a wonderful experience! We loved everything about it, including the atmosphere, service, and, of course, the food! In addition to having an excellent meal, we were really impressed with our server (Marilyn) as she provided us with top-notch service from the moment she greeted us! Kind, friendly and very attentive! If you plan on visiting NYC in the near future, add Minetta Tavern to your list as its a fantastic establishment!Tips:1) Book a reservation well in advance of your trip or you might not get in!2) If you want a nicer, quieter meal, sit outside. The inside is beautiful...however, it was very loud!3) Order the GRILLED ISLAND CREEK OYSTERS, they were delicious! -

When they say it’s the best burger in New York, they’re absolutely right. The meat patty was cooked medium-rare to perfection, the bun and sides gave it just enough flavour without needing any sauces at all and it comes with a plate of hot chips too. Sat at the bar and seat within 10 minutes of arriving late in the afternoon on a Saturday at 2:30pm. You can avoid queues by coming in around this time and opting a bar seat. The bartender was incredibly hospitable and gave us many recommendations for both the food and the city. Definitely come here once (at the very least!) -

Ive heard about the burgers here for years and finally got a chance to try them out. And they are amazing. Theyre on the smaller side, which is to be expected of a restaurant on the finer side. The chocolate souffle is amazing and much preferable over the other one.The service at this place is absolutely impeccable. Better than any other high end restaurant Ive ever been to. -

Went with a group of friends for a late night post-game. We each enjoyed a classic Minetta burger or a black label burger. All perfectly cooked and the meat quality was spectacular - juicy and full of flavor. The stars though were those darn fries which none of us expected to be that good and all crushed. -

Had a good time dining at Minetta Tavern, especially because of the food. The burger was cooked to perfection and the food itself was great.Downside was the service, two waiters contradicted each other regarding our desert and whether it was already ready and getting cold in the kitchen, and then one of them scolded the other (in front of us). Also we felt we had to worry about the timings of dishes and how fast we ate them before the next course arrives.Overall good experience but I will be reluctant to return, wouldnt have minded this level of service if the restaurant wasnt presented as a high class restaurant and priced that way. -

Minetta Tavern serves up the best classic burger Ive ever had and Ive had a LOT of burgers. I had the $32 black label burger on my visit in December 2016 and it comes with nothing but a HUGE pile of thin and crispy fries with caramelized onions on a perfect bun. You dont need ketchup or cheese, this burger has all of the flavor you need. Service is good and serious (you wont get a huge smile out of your server) but youre likely to spot a celeb. Decor is lovely. Prices definitely make this a treat yourself type of place but are worth it. -
