I had an absolutely amazing dining experience at New Chinatown on East 92nd Street! The food was authentic and bursting with flavor, especially the dumplings. The atmosphere was cozy yet vibrant, and the staff were incredibly attentive and welcoming. It’s a hidden gem in the Upper East Side, perfect for anyone craving high-quality Chinese cuisine. I’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone in the area! -

We ordered coconut fried rice, crispy salty pepper shrimps, general Tso’s beef, and uptown duck tonight. The coconut fried rice really blew my mind. The flavor was good, and they even scraped out the meat of the coconut and combined it into the fried rice. The shrimps in the fried rice were pretty fresh, too. It was my favorite dish of the night. The general Tso’s beef was also outstanding. The seasoning was just spot on, and created a very balanced flavor. The uptown duck was also pretty good. The duck was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. In addition, they were boneless!! The red curry was nice, but too mild to my taste. All the vegetables were nice and fresh, it came with pumpkins, sweet peppers, bamboo shoots, and eggplants. The crispy salty and pepper shrimps were actually kind of bland and disappointing. I thought it would be more flavorful, but the saltiness was so overpowering, and the pepper flavor was not strong enough. Overall, most of the dishes exceeded my expectations. I would like to come back and tried the other items on the menu. -

If you’re looking for a cute restaurant with amazing genuine Chinese cuisine, this is the right place! I love the juicy pork soup dumplings and honey walnuts shrimp! The soup dumplings are homemade and it tasted different than other dumplings I ate before. The staff Jessy was so nice and patient. Definitely rate 5 stars! -

Serene is the word that comes to mind when I think of New Chinatown Restaurant. The plant decor coupled with the classical piano renditions of popular songs makes you feel as if you have been transported to a greenhouse or garden oasis, making it the perfect place to catch up with a friend while enjoying delicious food or a quiet, peaceful dinner. They offer both Thai and Chinese and serve fairly large portions at ridiculously affordable prices, so be sure to come hungry. They have a great $12 lunch special and offer happy hour specials from 3:30 to 6:30 PM on Mondays to Saturdays. -

Really highly recommend this food spot!!!!!! The appetizers like Xiaolongbao, dumplings, crab Rangoon, and curry puff shiu mai are the best I have had in the whole New York City! Even the chili oil is the best in the town, everything is homemade, the sesame chicken, sweet sour chicken, massaman curry are super amazing!!! Much better than I had in other places. It’s a must try place, and also can be a daily eatery if you live close to here fortunately! -

Had such a wonderful evening here on New Years Eve. My party of 4 were greeted quickly, and treated so nicely by all the staff. The interior is beautifully decorated. The appetizers came out promptly and the drinks were all so pretty and delicious. Finally the food was delicious! Would definitely be returning. -

I don’t understand why this place isn’t better reviewed! The food is terrific!! The dan Dan noodles are far better seasoned than other “hyped” spots in the city. The soup dumplings are actually very good here as well (top two in Manhattan I’ve found). Service and interior is lovely. My partner is vegetarian and he loved the food too. What more can we ask for? ☺️ -
Review 9 (2024-12-29 - Rating: 5)

Review 11 (2022-12-28 - Rating: 5)
Stopped by this newly opened restaurant in uptown Manhattan, they are still in the process of getting their permanent menus and their food supplies in. They didn’t have the Thai tea or Thai mojito nor desserts yet, but that happens when opening a new place. The steamed pork dumplings were really good and the Japanese scallion pancake was a welcomed surprise. I had the chicken and broccoli and it was super tasty. My guest had the popcorn chicken and it had a lot of heat in it but still good, my other guest had the beef fried rice and really enjoyed it and last guest had the Tom Tom pork and besides a lot of fat on the pork belly he really liked it.I got the sake flight and the mango mojito. I liked both, was hoping for a hot sake on a cold day, but o’well. The service was awesome and the staff super kind, the decor is really nice and the set up was comforting. If I’m the area give it a shot. -
Review 12 (2023-04-10 - Rating: 5)
This place was fantastic! The restaurant is very beautiful and new with some Scandinavian design vibes and a really nice ambient. Although the food didn’t feel like authentic Chinese food, it was still delicious! We had the General Tso chicken and the Kung Pao beef as main courses which were both very tasty and filling, and to start we had their pork soup dumplings which we really liked because they tasted fresh and the broth was very balanced. Finally, the best part about this place is the value you get for every dollar you pay. This food and place was so nice and the bill so cheap that we intend to come back soon. -
Review 13 (2024-08-10 - Rating: 5)
I recently dined at New Chinatown Restaurant and Bar, and it was an exceptional experience. The fusion of Chinese and Thai flavors is both innovative and delicious. The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, and everything we tried was fresh and perfectly seasoned. The ambiance is inviting, with a modern twist on classic decor, making it a great spot for both casual meals and special occasions. The staff was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall great atmosphere. I highly recommend New Chinatown for anyone looking to enjoy high-quality Asian fusion cuisine in a welcoming environment. -

We enjoyed our time here and the food was so tasteful. Yummy. The ambiance is beautiful. Plants everywhere. We had wonton soup to start and I had sesame chicken and my friend had General Tsao. We did an Ocean Breeze and Maitai for drinks and everything was great. A must try in the city. Very relaxing down to the music! A little oasis! -

From the presentation, to the flavor, to the kind staff, its great!Im coming back to New York just for this place! It is not often enough that great atmosphere and ambience pair together with great food, but this place has done just that.Since their renovations last year the quality of everything from the plates to the whole interior design has improved. Not only that but the food is one of the best in the neighborhood. -

We started with the shuami which had a pea on top that was the best shumai I ever had . Also started with the rainbow soup dumplings each individual dumplings had its own unique ingredient inside which made it interesting to see what you get . For entrees we did the pineapple rice with chicken. I also had an item that wasnt even on the menu but the beef was great nice spices to it very traditional tasting dish drank a lychee martini also which hit the spot for happy hour highly recommend this place for a dine in or quick bite . Enjoy -

Yesterday was my first visit. I really wanted roasted duck and this place delivered. My meal was delicious and was presented with rice, cucumber, sauce and pancakes which was very thin and warm. The staff was attentive and I appreciated the tutorial with the pancakes. I will definitely return. -
Review 31 (2024-11-11 - Rating: 5)
Great local UES spot for some authentic pad thai, also loved the steamed veggie dumplings! Cashew chicken was very mild but tasty -
Review 32 (2024-05-28 - Rating: 4)
Great lunch special definitely worth the price. Check it out! I got the dry spicy pepper chicken (chongqing) one of my favorites and I did think it was a bit bland. Would love it to be a bit more tender/crispy and add more spice. It was a bit heavy on the cumin as well. Only small complaints.Try to go more authentic instead of catering to bland palates! -

We popped in on a Sunday evening and ordered the boneless BBQ ribs starter and for mains the panang curry (shrimp), prawns with salted pepper and the Maos red braised pork belly. The mains all came with a bowl of rice. The food was amazing. We enjoyed everything we ordered and it was hard to pick a favourite dish as they were all very tasty. The portions were large and the staff were very friendly. We hadnt planned to come in and just passed by on our walk home. Will definitely come back and try some other dishes -

I love the dimly lit ambiance with beautiful instrumental music in the background which makes it a perfect date spot. I got the uptown duck as an entree. The duck was cooked to a point where it felt like it was melting in my mouth and the edges were crisped to perfection. The staff made sure we were always taken care of and comfortable. 10/10 I am definitely coming back. -

We just found this new restaurant in upper east side which is close to my house. And this is the first time we hear. We was surprised by this restaurant! The decorations here are Thai and Chinese combination, really cozy, and clean. And we tried Thai curry which is little spicy but it’s supper nice and delicious, the sauce is perfect with rice. The services are really friendly too. This restaurant will be my first choice when I would like to hangout for a meal. -

Not sure why this place isn’t receiving more hype around the neighborhood. The food was awesome!! We got quite a few to share but the ones I love most and would be coming back for would be the duck and the beef noodle soup. The atmosphere was lovely and this place is great for a date. The music wasn’t loud or obnoxious and I can have a conversation with my dining partner. The service was also super great! I used to live in Upper East Side when I moved to New York City years ago. We visited New Chinatown last weekend which opened in the neighborhood recently with beautiful interior decor.Their menu was various from Chinese to Thai cuisine. We had their General Tso’s Chicken, Mixed Veggies w. Brown Suace, Bird Nest and Uptown Duck.My personal favorite was the Bird Nest which was made with fried taro and refreshing veggies. The taro was crispy but soft when it was soaked with the sauce. My roommate loves both General Tso’s chicken , which was his favorite dish and the Uptown Duck, which was tender with appetizing sauce. -

The bird nest came in a fried taro nest which was delicious and unique. every dish was flavorful, the service was fast and friendly, and it was very aesthetic with clean bathrooms. the lunch specials were a great deal. -

Review 94 (2018-09-05 - Rating: 5)
After an exhaustive, three-borough search for good all-you-can-eat sushi, I landed here and never looked back. The fish quality is excellent, the rolls are creative and meticulously prepared, the sushi rice is delicious and properly delivered, and the service is prompt and friendly.I rate sushi joints by the quality of their salmon and tuna nigiri. It is the first item I ever order, and has proven, for me at least, to be a reliable indicator of how the remaining sushi that I order will be. Their tuna and salmon is EXCELLENT.Well worth the trip, and given the price and quality, you cannot beat Chinatown on the Upper East Side. -
Review 95 (2023-01-21 - Rating: 5)
Easily the best Chinese food I’ve had on the UES, and quite possibly the best I’ve ever had period. Friendly staff, clean space, relaxing environment and highly recommended. It’s disheartening to see racist and bigoted reviews for this restaurant littering their review page. Definitely give this place a try! -
Review 96 (2024-09-05 - Rating: 5)
These bao zi are the best I’ve ever ate! The waiter was nice, food is awesome, and the environment is very relaxing, decorated with many plants. Usually I’d go to a restaurant and not come back, but for this one I would come back. -
Review 97 (2018-08-02 - Rating: 5)
Sushi heaven! Ive been coming here for over 3 years and I have yet to find another sushi spot like it in the city. Their all you can eat sushi menu is by far the best Ive seen with about 30 options. The staff is friendly enough and the restaurant is always clean. Sushi is made to order. But beware of the all your can eat menu, they charge if you leave too much on your plate as leftovers so order a roll or 2 at a time. Also they dont allow sharing between those that choose the all you can eat option and those that order from the regular menu. -

Hi! Native NYCer, American-Born-Chinese-HongKonger here!I’ve been eating & ordering from this restaurant since they first newly opened. I am always shocked at how high their food quality is. The food is not your typical Chinese takeout restaurant food. It’s authentic. The Thai selections are good too, but their Chinese dishes are the best. (I tried their entire menu by now)I work at a hotel closeby, so I order more delivery than I do dining in. But both experiences have been very positive for me. Every customer at my job I’ve recommended to this restaurant came back happy too 😃 -
Review 111 (2018-08-18 - Rating: 4)
Sushi is great .. the all you can eat and 3 drinks is the way to go for 33 dollars ... Service isnt the best but its a local place and usually at most Asian places the service is always not to great anyways. And they add auto gratuity which is not legal and another thing I hate . But I keep coming back cause the sushi is a great deal. -

ALL U CAN EAT SUSHI, sounds too good to be true. I had a wonderful time. And for another $9, I got 3 sakis!HIGHLY RECOMMEND. -

Enjoyed the new rebranded restaurant. The menu had a great variety of options and we really enjoyed the calm, quiet but zen stimulating atmosphere. We ordered Thai ice tea and soju as well as the pineapple mojito. Pineapple fried rice with chicken, chicken curry and drink man noodles with beef. The waitstaff was highly attentive, Ruby and her coworker were delightful, courteous and patient with us. -

Me and my friend were just roaming around the area and came across this restaurant. The decor inside was really nice and added to the cozy atmosphere. The waitresses were also really friendly and attentive. I drink a lot of water with my meals, so I appreciated how the waitresses made sure our water glasses were filled throughout the meal. For appetizers, me and my friend ordered homemade pork soup dumplings and the curry puff. The pork dumplings were really juicy. As for the mains, we shared the honey walnut shrimp and the Massaman curry, both of which were DELICIOUS!Overall, we had a great experience. Will come back again. -

Review 156 (2024-01-08 - Rating: 5)
I have to be honest, this restaurant made me love Chinese food again... The sweet and sour chicken is NOT dry or greasy, it is prepared and cooked perfectly and keeps in the fridge for later munchin... I take a cab from Astoria to eat or order take out from New China because I would rather pay more for the cab and get perfect Chinese food than order from my local restaurants and be disappointed. -

I recently had the pleasure of dining at New Chinatown on the Upper East Side, and it was a delightful experience. Their rainbow soup dumplings are a must-try, bringing the flavors of Chinatown right to this neighborhood. The vibrant colors of the dumplings are matched by the burst of flavors within, making each bite a delicious surprise. The addition of Thai dishes like pineapple fried rice adds a nice variety to the menu, and the restaurants beautiful interior enhances the overall dining ambiance. Its a gem that brings together the best of both Chinese and Thai cuisine, and Im thrilled to have this culinary treasure just a short distance away from home. -
