Location: Located off the street and a part of town that gave us to a lot of Japanese clientele, this was either fine, and open late. That was the key thing. The late night. Ramen is maybe one of my favorite things. Too many years in Tokyo I suppose. 😂Ambiance/Service: The ambience is typical Izakaya style. Theres a few tables and a good bar. I love sitting at bars to eat Ramen. There are lots of handwritten Japanese signs all over the room with various foods being offered. Again, typical Mama Pop style . The service was decent, nothing particularly special, but nothing poor either. The place was reasonable busy at about 1:00 in the morning. All good and frankly, authentic.Menu: again, typical Izakaya style, with various kinds of Ramen, Gyoza, ippin ryobi, and certainly some surprises I dont know about on the walls. It catered to an obvious Japanese clientele.Food: I got the Black Garlic Ramen with fresh Gyoza. DAMN. I mean damn. Goodness. Listen, Ive literally had ramen all over the world including hundreds of times in Tokyo. This was very good. Really. The Chashu was superb. I actually wanted to get another bowl, it was so good, but I did not have room. The gyoza was also excellent. Served in traditional Japanese style with the thin skin and fried on one side, Id loved it. I havent had gyoza like that in a long time.Bottom line would I go back? For sure. Ive marked my map and saved it to favorites in case I go back to New York City, Which I will. 😆 Get it!!!!! -

Their classic black garlic ramen never fails to amaze me! Tastes super smooth and their small noodles is one of the best in town. Not to mention they have this warm toilet seat in their restroom! All the workers always put smiles and friendly all the time Lol -
Review 5 (2024-06-20 - Rating: 5)
Some of the best ramen in New York. Will travel for this place from the UWS ( I used to live down the block). I believe this is the correct photo as this place set the standard for the Tan tan ramen -
Review 6 (2022-08-26 - Rating: 4)
Ramen is pretty authentic!Summer special - bin bin noddles is more like Japanese/Korean fusion, big portion, good taste of veggie and kimchi combine together, chicken is tenderTurn light into dark mode at 7:30pm when we were there, cool and chill atmosphere different from day time -
Review 7 (2024-05-29 - Rating: 4)
First time to experience eating and dine in here. The ambience is nice, the servers are very good at what they are doing, professionals. I had the red/ spicy ramen. It was great, very rich broth, the umami. The only thing is the bar was set highly by another ramen place. But Nishida Sho-ten is almost there. Definitely coming back to try the other variations of the ramen. Padayon! -
Review 8 (2024-09-28 - Rating: 5)
I had the spicy ramen. The beets made the soup taste like dirt at first but the taste slowly becomes appreciated. Solid toppings and broth, decent amount of spice and a healthy portion of noodles. The staff are really sweet. -
Review 9 (2022-12-15 - Rating: 5)
Great ramen place!! Its a bit small, and usually you need to wait to be seated, but thats because the food is amazing, great atmosphere and staff super accommodating! The wait outside is well worth it! -
Review 10 (2022-06-14 - Rating: 4)
4.5/5⭐️Nishida Sho-TenChashu Taco - 5⭐️ If A Japanese, a Korean, and a Spanish made a baby, this be one juicy baby.Chashu Buns - 3⭐️ The chashu is charred, lean and sweet. However, lacks the fattiness I like. The cheese and mayo is a nice twist to it. If you eat grilled oysters with cheese and mayo, you know what I mean.Karaage - 3⭐️Juicy thick meat and fatty! (I still make it better)Kushiyaki - 1⭐️ Sweet glazed. Nothing special. Buffet food quality. Goes well with rice.White Ramen - $14.Broth - 4/5. Good clean flavor. The onions give a nice crunchy texture with the broth.Chashu - 5/5. Same as pork buns but has fat on it. Would prefer more fattiness but it’s tender, sweet, charred and delicious.Noodles - 3/5. thin noodle. Gets soggy quickly.Black (Garlic) RamenSide Notes:My partner had this bowl. It’s better than the White Ramen.Compared to Setagaya, it has more depth in black garlic broth, which I had on Monday. -
Review 11 (2023-11-24 - Rating: 5)
Stumbled upon this place on a rainy day for dinner. Best Ramen I have ever had!! Many varieties available and easy to customise for vegetarians. Definitely recommend getting the chashu tacos for an appetiser, which were a flavour bomb! -
Review 12 (2024-10-17 - Rating: 5)
Quite possibly the greatest Ramen I have ever had. A small, intimate shop with huge flavor at a reasonable price. I have had the black garlic Ramen many times and enjoy it more with each bowl. When friends and family visit, this is the place I take them to. I have never left here hungry, but I always leave wanting more! -
Review 13 (2023-12-27 - Rating: 4)
After sorting through some ramen reviews, a friend and IK stumbled upon Nishida Sho-Ten as our dinner pick. The Food: I went with the Black Ramen. Which had a rich garlic pork broth that was very delicious! The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the pork chashu was nice and tender. All the ingredients paired very well together to make a delicious bowl. Portion size was good as well. Not too small, not too big. Overall meal tasted very authentic and traditional, which is a huge plus. The Service: Service was great! The waitress that was with us was very nice and friendly. Food was brought out in a timely manner and no issues with the overall service. The Atmosphere: Nice, small and cozy ramen spot. The decor kept it simple and traditional. Nota lot of tables inside, so it can get very busy and wait times can be long, but there is also a bar area where you can go too if you dont want to be seated at a table.Overall, a 4/5! Very solid ramen spot to try. Even with a long wait, Id say its worth it. -
Review 14 (2022-11-01 - Rating: 5)
My favourite ramen in NYC!! I’ve been coming here for years, whenever I come to NYC… and I went here twice during my recent 1-week trip to NYC! Ramen broth is so flavourful & delicious, I’d finish the whole lot without a single drop left! Noodles and the chashu pork are so good too! And super friendly service!! I can’t wait to go back to NYC (it’ll be a few years until I come back to NYC) to have the ramen again! -
Review 15 (2023-03-19 - Rating: 4)
Nice Japanese ramen dish? The food was excellent the waitress was very welcoming and kind , meanwhile I gave four star cause the place was too heated to the point we had to rush to go out to breath some fresh air -

My absolute favorite ramen place 🤤 weve been there so many times. Reasonable price, friendly staff (the auntie is super helpful and knows her customers by heart), and most importantly the food tastes amazing 🤩 -
Review 18 (2024-09-09 - Rating: 5)
Small place, but black garlic ramen was simply amazing! The broth was perfect. I’d order without onions next time bc it was a bit too much but overall 5/5 -
Review 19 (2021-09-20 - Rating: 5)
This was a great find when I had a friend in town from Boston who was craving ramen. I ordered the miso ramen on the recommendation of the server, and it really hit the spot - the broth was thick and flavorful; toppings were generous and filling; and the noodles were cooked firm and al dente. The ramen bowls are priced well at $14-16, and best of all you can get draft Asahi Super Dry for $5 a glass. This place is great value, with efficient and entertaining service, and Ill be back to try more of their ramen. -
Review 20 (2023-11-23 - Rating: 5)

One of my favorite place in the neighborhood for ramen. I usually get the Tan tan ramen but today tried the vegetable ramen and it was great if you want a healthier option. I never had a single complain from this place and been a customer for many years ❤️ -

A small spot in Midtown East that is always busy. We walked in at 7pm on a Sunday and luckily didn’t have to wait too long. The ramen, the gyozas and edemame were all delicious. -
Review 29 (2021-03-14 - Rating: 5)
Very good Service. The Ramen portion size is good. Its affordable as well. I got the chicken Ramen. You can get extra noodles for $1.5. -
Review 30 (2022-02-16 - Rating: 4)
Wintertime can be the greatest time to have a nice bowl of ramen. Ramen is a Japanese dish with a translation of pulled noodles. It consists of Chinese wheat noodles served in a meat or fish-based broth, often flavored with soy.I ordered the black kakuni ramen ma-yu oil pork with egg, onion scallion. bok-choy in chicken and pork broth. The ramen had so much great flavor was tender and perfectly cooked, the broth was so perfectly cooked. The boiled egg was amazing very soft and tender. If you are thereafter 11 PM you can get extra noddle.I also share some appetizer with a few friends, fry chicken and octopus with wasabi sauces. The fried chicken was very tender and very delicious. The octopus was just fine not very impressed. The staff was attentive and professional. -
Review 31 (2024-12-25 - Rating: 5)
My favourite local ramen place, the tan tan in particular is delicious and service is always fast. -
Review 32 (2022-09-17 - Rating: 5)
Ordered the white tonkotsu ramen, and the soup was very delicious and full of flavour. For sides, I ordered agedashi tofu and chicken kara-age, both were delicious with generous portions. Staff was friendly, excellent service. -

Nice little ramen spot that is open late. Consistent quality and staff are friendly enough 😃 -
Review 36 (2024-10-18 - Rating: 4)
It was honestly absolutely fantastic of a meal, until they promptly demanded tips. That should be an option, not pressured to. Either way, we did tip in the end. The hospitality was great right up til then. -

After 8 years of being a regular customer my review stays the same, I keep trying new ramen spots and I always return to Nishida!Best price and best quality Ramen shop, you can even choose the type of noodles. Out of all the ramen shops in the city, I keep coming back to this one! Black kakuni broth best broth! -

I didn’t stop till I finished but here’s a pic. -
Review 39 (2024-06-21 - Rating: 4)
Food here is great, service is okay, atmosphere wasn’t the best. I ordered the black ramen and a friend ordered the red ramen. Both were excellent. The pork had too much fat in it though, which is not my preference. I prefer lean meat. We ordered 3 different appetizers; pork dumplings which were the best, fried chicken, and octopus balls. All were good, but again the dumplings are a must!! I also got some beer which was okay. The service lady was nice, but it took a while to get any service. To be fair, it was around 10:00 PM which is apparently their shift change time and apparently the incoming waiter came late which slowed things down. The shop has authentic look to it and the vibe is great, but the AC was NOT on! We were melting in sweat inside!! They told us the reason AC isn’t on is because it brings bad smell because of the ongoing construction! They should at least bring some fans! It was hot and humid and awful feeling! -
Review 40 (2022-05-30 - Rating: 5)
Nishida is probably one of the only locations on the planet that I would marry happily. I can see myself having children and fighting for our lives to be together forever.I got the chicken ramen as I always do since I keep pork out of my diet. The egg is always amazing and makes me want to fertilize it. The ramen is always cooked perfectly and I continuously bring all of my friends and family here to enjoy the appetizers and the meal. -
Review 41 (2019-05-22 - Rating: 5)
My number one go to for Ramen. I will admit, it is a bit out of the way, but it is perfect for me to go to after work( I work along the same avenue.)This place has the hallmarks of a great Ramen spot:Small and focused entree menuNice amount of sidesTiny store~The broth is amazing and flavorful. The pork is super thick and bountiful. The noodles are firm and the egg is perfection. I usually get the takoyaki as a side and they are wonderful. But dont roll up to this joint with a crew of more than 4(even 4 is pushing it). This place is tiny, better fit for 2-3. I usually go by myself.Thats the only con I would give this place. But at the end of the day, this place is worth it. Amazing bowl of ramen, 1 side and a coke for around $20!? Cant beat that.Pro tip: get the chili oil, it will elevate your dish even more ;) -
Review 42 (2023-04-19 - Rating: 5)
The thin noodles are to die for. Its probably the best textured ramen noodles in the midtown area that I can think of. I would recommend this place. Its also open until some ungodly hour for your cravings lol -
Review 43 (2021-08-13 - Rating: 5)
Incredible food at unbelievable prices. The ramen is very authentically Japanese and the staff is kind and attentive. You’re missing out if you don’t drop by! -
Review 44 (2023-07-10 - Rating: 5)
One of the best ramen in nyc. but the restaurant is very small and need to wait long to get a service. -
Review 45 (2024-07-23 - Rating: 4)
Got the red and black… plus some takoyaki balls and everything was delicious. Would be a little nicer to have powerful AC while eating hot foods in the summer though hehe. Great service and delicious ramen.🍜 -
Review 46 (2018-02-06 - Rating: 5)
Decent ramen, great pork belly, and extremely friendly staff. The atmosphere is quite nice too with old Japanese pop songs. The place isnt great for large groups unless its slow but youd still have to spilt up. -
Review 47 (2018-08-10 - Rating: 5)
This Ramen is perfect. Had white kakuni and chicken shoyu ramens. Both were just meeting my expectation. The white kakuni is the deep pork broth soup with thin Kyushu style noodle. Shoyu ramen is some nostalgic authentic Japanese ramen with waved noodle. Will come back to try another ramen. -
Review 48 (2024-07-06 - Rating: 5)
The best ramen joint in Manhattan, be quick with your order. If you don’t waste Beverly’s time, your food will taste even better. -
Review 49 (2022-10-18 - Rating: 4)
Nice a ramen place. The soup is hot and delicious as well as meat. The black or red ramen are very good and worth a taste. The average price is well under the price in the area. The place is less than twenty seats inside and it is popular during lunch hour. It is becoming one of weekly lunch places. The service is alright. -
Review 50 (2019-11-19 - Rating: 4)
I’ve eaten here twice now and enjoyed it. Kind of tight quarters. Most recently enjoyed a good tan tan men—I didn’t remember to take a photo until only some broth remained but you can see it is rich, something lacking in too many ramen shops. Nishida remains my second favorite in the neighborhood behind Bow Ramen on 45th between 2nd and 3rd but they are both too popular and frequently crowded these days. -
Review 51 (2019-10-09 - Rating: 5)
Great place for real good yummy Ramen. Reasonable and affordable price, very tasty and real good flavor, very nice crew/ staff. I love every type of ramen they serve.I love it so much that I always order mine with extra noodle, all in one bowl...A must try for Ramen fans and definitely one of the best ramen places in Manhattan. Ill always be back here again and again. Burp! So good! -
Review 52 (2023-04-07 - Rating: 5)

Review 55 (2019-02-16 - Rating: 4)
Very nice Ramen dishes. Nice authentic noodles and broth, not the instant generic type, cooked to the perfect texture/firmness.Service staff was very lively and friendly. The restaurant itself is somewhat small and basic, but a pleasing interior. The restaurant is licensed as well. -
Review 56 (2022-10-30 - Rating: 5)
Good small, local and traditional japanese restaurant.Menu mostly ramen and couple of other options.I ordered a chicken katsu and kare. Very good, tasty, crisp chicken.Mains price range from $15 to $20. -
Review 57 (2024-06-09 - Rating: 5)
Black Ramen [Wavy Noodle] 🏅The flavor of the broth was super rich and flavourful but not overwhelming that I couldnt drink the soup. Noodles were amazing, chewy and paired great with the broth.Happy with the pork portion! Pic doesnt show it but there was a ton of it in there.I ended up finishing the whole bowl cleanWhite Ramen [Wavy Noodle]Well rounded dish with deep and rich broth with the same chewy and bouncy noodles. Greatly recommend for palates that prefer a lighter tasting profileJapanese Bun [Pork]A perfect appetizer to share! The flavor combination was incredible as the pork, Japanese mayo and Japanese bbq sauce paired so well. The tomato with broiled cheese was a welcomed twist to the traditional toppings. Only thing that could be better is the fluffy Bun, lacking the bounce and cloud like consistency that some other restaurants offer. If the Bun was up to par definitely would have been a top list Pork Bun. -
Review 58 (2024-07-16 - Rating: 5)
Great spot to eat when you want a quick bite. Got the white ramen, ka-raage chicken, and a refreshing chu-hi lemon. Highly recommended this place! -
Review 59 (2024-02-01 - Rating: 4)
It was late at night, I felt like Ramen, and this happened to be on the way home. Additionally, upon a bit of investigation I saw that it had a Veggie option. Sold. It was a Friday evening and there actually wasn’t much of a line. It was busy, but I was able to get a seat at the bar. The service was alright - nothing to complain about, nothing to rave about. The Spicy Veggie ramen was absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely revisit, and I actually can’t wait to. The broth was flavorful and a spice level that I feel most people could enjoy without incident... the noodles had a great texture... Overall this restaurant is a great option for a hot meal in the wee hours of the morning. -
Review 60 (2024-08-04 - Rating: 4)
The welcoming service and the decoration made me feel transported to an izakaya in Japan. The food was good, especially the ramen more than the curry. -
Review 61 (2024-05-04 - Rating: 5)
My favorite Japanese restaurant in NYC since my trip to Tokyo. Come here if you haven’t already, I’d recommend just about anything on the menu and their kitchen is open until 3am! Its a little small inside but seating is usually available. -
Review 62 (2017-09-27 - Rating: 4)
Tan tan ramen was perfect, just the right amount of spice. Prices were higher than listed online but still reasonable. They offer cheese covered dumplings, which is weird. Definitely recommend. -
Review 63 (2023-10-20 - Rating: 5)
One of my favorite spots especially for late night bites. Good food - I like ordering a few appetizers for a meal. They are well known for their ramen. All of the staff are wonderful. Never a bad experience. You will have to wait sometimes as it is a small restaurant with no reservations. -
Review 64 (2023-01-31 - Rating: 5)

Review 65 (2019-06-10 - Rating: 5)
Friendly host. She seated me 10min before they closed. Ordered salmon sashimi and shrimp tempura udon. Both were delicious. The broad udon noodle was properly cooked and the shrimp tempura was on point. Broth had a perfect balance of seasoning and finish. Tried a Japanese soft drink, Calpico, tasty like a sweet milk (non-carbonated). -
Review 66 (2019-06-06 - Rating: 4)
Ordered black ramen. Thin noodles, good pork and decent soup. Quick and easy service.Taking a star away cause of consistency. Soup was not black as my friends bowl and he ordered the same thing. Granted I did not have scallions but ...... -
Review 67 (2024-06-01 - Rating: 5)
This place is possibly one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in NYC. Ive been coming here for a few years and I cant believe I didnt post a review on them yet. The space is so cozy and the food is delicious. All of the apps are full of flavor by my go-tos are the Pork Buns and the Kara-Age. The ramen choices are really good too. My favorite is the Black Kakuni Ramen and youre able to have it with wavy or thin noodles. Wavy noodles are the way to go.If you have seen any of my other reviews, you know that great service wins me over and our server, Moon is so amazing. She makes our visit special each time we go. If youre ever in the mood for Japanese food and having a hard time sifting through the dozens that are in the area alone, please try them. -

I love Ramen and this place hits the spot. Small, intimate, and cozy- this place feels inviting and warm to eat a delicious Ramen. So many ramen and drink options. The appetizers are a must to order and won’t disappoint. No complaints about the staff. They are friendly and the service is great. Doesn’t disappoint! -

My family and I go there all the time. Tan tan ramen is so good. You can even ask for extra spicy. During the summer months, they have cold spicy bibimbap. It is literally beyond this world. -

Quiet little place, very cozy, the onigiri had alot of flavor, the sake I had was so smooth and flavorful, and the ramen was tasty and quiet filling lol barely made it back to my rental before the food coma set in -
Review 71 (2018-07-11 - Rating: 4)
I wish they hade the typical chashu. Free kae-dama after 12 is dope. Only reason o bumped them to 4 stars is the soup is really really rich and fatty its too strong to slurp down at the end. -
Review 72 (2018-01-27 - Rating: 4)
This place seems to be always busy, and the ramen selection is small but good. i got the black kakuni which is perhaps the most interesting bowl they have, with straight noodles, but would recommend the wavy noodles instead. -
Review 73 (2024-05-02 - Rating: 5)
Nishida Sho-ten is a fantastic ramen spot in NYC that lives up to the hype. While the restaurant itself is on the smaller side, their delicious ramen makes it absolutely worth a visit. Their black ramen, with its rich garlic oil base, is a standout menu item. Overall, Nishida Sho-ten is a great choice for a quick and satisfying lunch. -
Review 74 (2024-04-30 - Rating: 5)
Easily one of the best bowls of ramen Ive had. I cant recommend the tonkotsu Black enough. The karage curry is out of this world. It is worth the wait if the spot is packed. -
Review 75 (2017-09-13 - Rating: 5)
This has to be my go to ramen place. Bowl size is perfect, noodles are cooked well and the broth isnt too rich. Id call it cozy but others would say its small. It opens around 1130am and I suggest youre outside those doors at least 10 min prior because it fills up pretty quickly. Late nights are the same, if youre lucky youll arrive in between the rush of people. Once inside grab a seat and order up a single serve sake cup, onigiri and some darn good ramen. -

Review 78 (2019-07-10 - Rating: 4)
All i have to say is you must get the miso ramen.. just do it. i’ve had it plenty of times and it is SO delightful. love this place a lot. however, i went on saturday (at 2am, so take this as you wish) and a physical fight broke out in the back kitchen amongst the employees. it was weird and very uncomfortable. most people in the restaurant left in a hurry, so it definitely ruined the vibe toward the end of our meal. -

Went to this place by coincidence with my husband the other night. Beverly and Jojo received us and treat us so kindly, this girls work hard! Place gets busy often but for a good reason. Aside from the small spacing, the Ramen for example is great. The broth and the ingredients were full of flavor and not too oily. If it was closer to my home, ill probably visit more often. -

A good place for quick and filling meal. Portion is big and enjoyed the unlimited fried garlic as side condiment. Got the grilled chicken curry and it was tasty as well as comes with house salad ($16). Service is a bit stiff but ok for in-and-out meal -

Love the tantan ramen there. The staff are friendly though might look serious when there is a waiting line. It stays open late as well so it gives a bit of life to midtown and UN area. -

This place is a true treasury if you like ramen or other kinds of Japanese food. I was impressed by the prices wich really were held low, considering the high quality of the food.As someone who isn’t really a fan of Ramen, I got incredibly surprised by the taste and quality when tasting both of my friends ramen dishes. The non ramen dishes were also very good and tasted well. The Ambiente was nice and cozy and the waitress was friendly and helpful. -

Review 95 (2022-10-18 - Rating: 5)
Came here at midnight and this place was packed still! And all for good reason, the black garlic ramen was so delicious and savory. I even drank all the broth. This spot is also very reasonably priced! Even their drinks. Can see why this is the go to late night spot for everyone. Though, this is a really small place and had limited seating, so I don’t even want to know how long the wait is during the day. -

Review 100 (2023-01-20 - Rating: 5)
This place is my safe haven, sometimes eating alone in public can be awkward but this is the perfect place for it. I’ve been coming to this ramen shop since 2018, and the service and food is still just as delicious as the first time I went. I always order the chicken ramen — it’s so rich and filling. I don’t eat pork so finding flavorful pork free ramen is a challenge, but nishida sho ten passes the test! I will always love this place -

Some of the best ramen I’ve had in Manhattan!! I knew the ramen would be good when I visited at 10pm at night and saw more people come in after and get seated at the bar. The atmosphere felt like a tradition Japanese bar and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The prices are super reasonable and the karaage was amazingly juicy. Highly highly recommend! -
Review 107 (2022-09-16 - Rating: 5)
I’ve had a lot of ramen throughout my travels, and this may take the gold medal. SO SO GOOD!! If you like ramen you have to try this place, it’s an amazing little hole in the wall hidden gem. I had the red ramen, spicy pork with the thin noodles, the best I’ve ever had. Phenomenal service and a cool little atmosphere. -
Review 108 (2023-09-25 - Rating: 5)
Seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience in NYC, my colleagues and I stumbled upon this gem. I indulged in the Takoyaki and the Red Ramen with a spicy pork broth, garnished with onions, scallions, bok choy, a marinated egg, seaweed, and two slices of succulent pork chashu. It’s rare to encounter such genuine Japanese flavors stateside; the last time I savored ramen this delectable was in Japan itself. The Red Ramen boasted a robust yet balanced spiciness, complemented by tender pork and a flawlessly cooked egg. The Takoyaki, reminiscent of my memories from Japan, is a must-try for octopus lovers. I wholeheartedly endorse this eatery and anticipate returning on my next NYC visit. -
Review 109 (2024-05-19 - Rating: 5)
One of the most authentic ramen experience in nyc! (If you think good ramen means over the top decor, fake friendly service, and bland food made by non-Japanese, this place is not for you)This place is what ramen should be - no frills, no non-sense, no unnecessary gimmicks for influencers. Sole focus on the food, amazing broth, noodles, and chashu.Follow the shop owners rules and listen to their recommendations, you will have a good experience and even greater food. -
Review 110 (2023-08-29 - Rating: 4)

Review 114 (2023-11-20 - Rating: 5)
I noticed this place because there was a line outside its door. In New York City this means a lot. While chatting to the people in the line, they told me this line would be as crowded at 2 AM as it is now. After I finish my work I went in to grab a late lunch. Not only was the service excellent the food tasted beyond this world. The server had big smile on her face and recommended what I could have. I enjoyed the food a lot. What was most impressive was that she would wipe every single cutlery before she served it to me. That is a nicest gesture I have ever seen a serving staff perform. -
Review 115 (2022-06-26 - Rating: 5)
I don’t get ramen much, but got the Chicken Ramen ($14) here and gotta say this was reaaal good! The chicken broth reminded me of the soup that my mom makes at home cause I could actually taste some chicken in there. The broth is more clear as a result of this compared to the usual broth like for tonkatsu/miso ramen. I did find it too oily for my liking though, but overall one of the best ramen I’ve ever had just for how different it is from the offerings of other ramen places. The egg was nice and soft as well (egg yolk perfectly done & egg white was soft to taste unlike the usual places). I usually don’t eat the egg in ramen cause it just takes too salty or like regular egg, but I wiped this whole bowl clean (ramen, egg, chicken & all) and that’s when I knew. The place is pretty small, can fit 4 separate parties at the tables (2 sets of tables can fit 2 people each, the other 2 sets of tables can fit about 4 people each). There’s also a counter top that can fit about 8 people so I don’t suggest coming with a large group. My friend and I got here right when there was a table for 2 open so we lucked out, but during our time there, we saw so many groups come and go so they are really busy! The lady who served us was a one woman team taking all the orders, serving and cleaning. I don’t know how she does it, but thought it was pretty amazing. My friend got the Miso Ramen ($16), which she also thought was good. She liked that the chashu in it wasn’t fatty and was also a decent portion compared to another place we had tried a while back.As an appetizer, we ordered Takoyaki ($8 for 6pcs), which was done pretty well, but honestly I could barely taste any octopus inside. It tasted more like batter so would’ve been better if there was more octopus.Still giving this place a 5 star review cause of that Chicken Ramen that was 💯. (I also heard a handful of customers mention they come everyday so you know what that says about the place!) -

My partner and I had our first date here 7 years ago. The food and service was amazing and I was thoroughly impressed with his location choice! We were 2 broke kids back then and it wasn’t too costly for us either. Anyway, we’re getting married next year, so I wanted to leave this review to say thank you for setting the stage to our wonderful life together ❤️ -
Review 117 (2024-10-31 - Rating: 5)
Amazing food in a cozy setting. Food is always flavorful and cooked the same every time. My girlfriend and I come here at least once a month for the past two years. My only complaint is that the place has seen increasingly more traffic lately so lines can get long to get in and servers attentiveness can dwindle when really busy. The later it gets the worse it is, especially towards really late.Top Dishes: Black Ramen, Pork Gyoza -
Review 118 (2019-12-18 - Rating: 5)
Probably the best ramen in New York (State, I mean)! Im not even Japanese and this food tastes like home. I feel like my momma, from another life, is in the kitchen taking care of me🙈 ... But no. Just talented chefs that pour passion into their food. Its well proportioned, well priced, and the service is excellent. Highly recommended! -
Review 119 (2024-02-22 - Rating: 4)
Excellent ramen, small but lively place. Only downside was my first experience with tipping. I had either too big or too small money, and the counter lady said that I could change a $10 bill in smaller change. Ill keep that in mind for my next restaurants. -
Review 120 (2024-08-19 - Rating: 5)
I ate so much food and will definitely need to come back to try other dishes on the menu. I enjoyed the black ramen which I had my heart set upon. I came in last week and the Health inspectors came in so that was interesting to witness. I can’t wait to try more food because I housed all 3 dishes I ordered in one sitting. -
Review 121 (2022-06-07 - Rating: 5)
Love the atmosphere of this place. Makes you feel like youre on a quiet back street in Tokyo. The ramen is also delicious. It was unusual that they charge for chili oil though, that usually comes with the noodles for free. -

This is the best place for Ramen 🍜. I loved the food there. The dine-in space is a bit small, so dont forget to book in advance. Also they close the restaurant from 4:00PM to 5:00 PM (actually they stop receiving orders after 3:45 PM for an hour) for cleaning and this information is not present in Google search.I recommend Tantan (Pork Ramen) which is a bit spicy but really delicious. -

Great prices and amazing food. I went with my friend because we wanted Ramen and Im so glad I tried it out. Not only was the vegetable ramen I ordered sizeable, they had happy hour before 7 pm when appetizers were half their original price. Beverly was attentive and fast in getting our orders and making sure we were comfortable. Im glad I went and I plan on going back. The decor is also cute and homely. Highly recommend. -

This is a Japanese Ramen restaurant. The place is tidy and with a long queue. The services are good. The staff pays attention to details and sanitize the tables after the customers left. There are lots of Japanese decorations in the restaurant.I have ordered the black Ramen, which is bbq pork. The noodles is ok. We did not wait for a long time to get the dish. There are also appetizers, such as dumplings. What I like most is the attention of details of the restaurant, such as a hanger on the wall which allows customers to hang the handbags or coat in winter. -
Review 133 (2019-06-10 - Rating: 5)
Its a cute little place thats tucked away without any obvious signs. Its very easy to walk by.Food and service is always impeccable. Even though the price is a little bit high for lunch ($15-20) its really good. I usually order some kind of bowl. Ive tried the poke bowl and the salmon bowl. I liked both but the salmon is my favorite so far. It uses two kinds of salmon cuts and eggs.Their sushi is also very tasty as well. The way theyre presented is very picturesque. The actual food itself is fresh and so good that it practically melts in your mouth. -

This is one of the best ramen in NYC. Better than Santouka in New Jersey. The broth is not too fatty and their tamago has a twist of anchovies on it which is a really good combination. They use pork shoulders on their black ramen and the noodles is really just right. We ordered okonomiyak and takoyaki too which is really good too! Definitely will come back here! What a nice discovery! -

Review 145 (2018-01-21 - Rating: 4)
This place feels like an authentic ramen bar in the middle of Japan with its small hole in the wall size. Prepare to get cozy with your neighbor as you slurp down some ramen. The food was okay, nothing too terribly impressive. The only thing to really complain about was the lack of any vegetarian options. We chose the restaurant because they have a veggie ramen advertised on their website. When we got there, the waitress told us curtly there was nonesuch ramen to be found. Really overall the service and inaccurate menu were the only things that stopped it from getting the full 5 stars. -

A hole-in-the-wall Japanese restaurant with pretty decent ramen! There were only about six tables and a bar, but we got seats immediately on a rainy Thursday night.I love the fact that they have an actual Japanese toilet seat in the bathroom, complete with the full bidet functions, which harks back to my first trip to Japan years ago. They also open till the wee hours of the morning, which is rare for many restaurants in NYC. -

Ramen is superb, but it also offers other excellent food such like lunch bento box and appetizers. I like curry chicken katsu and fresh made takoyaki. Staffs here are very nice and friendly. Sometimes the store can get crowded, if you want to get in during lunch time, try to come early. -

Ive come here twice and have enjoyed both the tsukemen, and the Black Garlic ramen.Positives: Price are really good. I dont know many places that give a big portion size, but also is generous to the wallet. They get a 5/5 star in this regards. The food is also very enjoyable. While Nishida lacks the flair of the more popular restaurants like Momosan or Ivan, the dishes that is brought out is nothing but authentic. The ambiance is very cozy, and transports you to a simpler time, where people are just enjoying delicious ramen side by side. -

Ive had ramen at places that were supposed to be good ramen spots and didnt like. Thought I wasnt actually a ramen fan. Then I tried this place! Its awesome! So flavourful and they give you free extra bowls of noodles to add to your bowl if youre extra hungry. Ive been telling all my friends about this place! And theyre open till 4am! -
Review 161 (2023-08-29 - Rating: 4)
The food and flavor are ok. If you do not eat pork, you do not have a lot of options to choose from. As we do not eat pork, they did not substitute the pork. They just did no pork for the dish and added on chicken, which is an extra $. Customer service could be better. -

JAPAN 🇯🇵Eat the World NYC review:The transition from East 49th Street to post-war 1950s or 60s Japan is almost done seamlessly, if only it wasnt for the random tourist couples that keep walking in, attracted by this ramen shops good internet reviews and economical pricing. The bare bones interior may not seem like much, but that is the point. It is there to facilitate the needs of hungry customers, and get people drunk at night with an array of sake cups.°Around since the second half of 2014, this tiny ramen bar specializes in kakuni ramen. Kakuni uses a tonkotsu, or pork bone, base for the soup with special square slices of thick pork belly that give it the name. You can get this in three versions, all color coded. The white is the standard soup base, while black uses ma-yu garlic oil, and red delivers a small heat bump. All three versions use thin al dente noodles and start off with a high garlic quotient.
