Intimate, fun, and very much a “know what you want when they come by” place to go. This sounds pretentious, but they move quick, and if you can move with how fast they move, I promise you your experience will be excellent. Every cocktail we had was good, and when we asked for modification, and intelligent convo followed about what was doable and what would work well with what they had. Loved it. Well done, will for sure be back.

Arrived here at opening on a Thursday evening to find the place nearly empty for pre-dinner drinks, and we’re able to get seats at the bar. I enjoyed a few of the spirit-forward options- the No Vacancy and the Commuter, while my wife tried the Sidecar variation. The bartender was also able to make her a gin version of one of the mezcal drinks, which was perfectly suited to her tastes. The cocktails were all well made and balanced, and priced well for what they are. The space is simple with a retro feel, and features vintage furnishings in line with the classic train theme.

Cozy west Village cocktail bar. Nice spot to start or end a date night. Loved that the bartenders can stray from the menu and mix cocktails to your taste. The staff is friendly and the prices are fair. Will definitely be back.

***4 1/2 stars***Let me start off by saying that stereotypes are wrong. That said, if I see a bearded guy behind the bar wearing either a plaid shirt or a tie, Im feeling pretty good about my chances of getting a decent cocktail. And this place has both of them in spades. I stopped by here after work on Friday with my Old Man Chum for two cocktails on a very pleasant early fall evening with a slight nip in the air. The Old Man had walked by before and liked the look of the place, and I have to share those sentiments for sure - it feels like an antique store in many ways. We didnt spend a ton of time indoors other than to request outdoor seating and take a bathroom break, but neither of us would have had an issue hanging out in there for the duration of our adventure. The outdoor seating though had prime pooch viewing right by the sidewalk, which you just cant beat regardless of the interior design.I had time in the afternoon to intently study the cocktail menu and ultimately chose The Commuter ($17), featuring gin, cocchi rosa and yellow chartreuse. Orient Express very helpfully provides a taste/palate description of each cocktail next to the ingredient list, which every place should do - its definitely a big part of how I ultimately arrived at my decision. (And as an aside, if someone had provided a description of the negroni I sampled recently and alerted me to the fact that they tasted like leather suitcases, I wouldnt have gone near it and saved myself the trouble. Its basically a public service.)This particular cocktail was described as boozy, floral and herbal, and it was ALL of those things. I ended up having two of these, and a third would have gotten me into a lot of trouble. Im not typically an advocate for a cocktail thats more than $15, but if youre going to spend that kind of money, you should be able to appreciate/distinguish multiple layers of flavors, which is certainly the case here. You can tell that the bartender/mixologist knew what they were doing when they prepped it, and that the bar manager or whomever designed this drink did so with care. Theres a lot of subtlety and attention to detail, and Id definitely advocate thoughtful sips versus casual gulps. The service was fine. Your mileage may vary on this, but when we got there it looked like the bartender inside was literally the only one handling drink orders for all tables including the outdoor area. We were seated quickly and provided with menus at the time, but after 10 minutes or so went by without a visit, I had to go inside to give our orders. Not a huge deal, and it wasnt difficult to hail him down behind the bar to do so, but overall we had to be a bit more proactive than I think youd ideally want to be. Its also a chill cocktail bar in the West Village so theres arguably a hands-off cultural vibe there as well.Definitely would come by again, though I wouldnt recommend doing so on an empty stomach.

  • Review 5 (2018-08-07 - Rating: 5)

Lovely and pleasant little neighborhood bar, with a tastefully done interior reminiscent of a train car, with posters and knick-knacks from along the route of the orient express (although one may quibble with a few, such as Amsterdam there). The decor and ambiance are what drew us in. On a Monday evening it was quiet and peaceful, an oasis from the hectic city and uproariously loud bars that dominate the scene today.Specializing in cocktails, the barkeep sheyan was helpful and unhurried, letting us meander the various options and features like we were buying a car. Reasonable prices for bespoke cocktails, though what had happened to the world that makes me think $15 is reasonable?Food is mostly Turkish and Eastern Mediterranean, and was a fine complement to out cocktails.A gem if you can catch it.

  • Review 6 (2018-06-05 - Rating: 4)

Such a cute little place. Great for a pastry and coffee. The staff is friendly and welcoming. And you feel like your in a small train car. With old luggage all around you.

  • Review 7 (2022-03-14 - Rating: 5)

Beautiful bar and good cocktails. Can’t believe I’ve only discovered after so long. Ideal for a small group and a great date night. Loved the decor. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Would love to come back again.

  • Review 8 (2024-09-30 - Rating: 5)

We came in super late and they were about to close but Sin was amazing and made us both cocktails off the menu: passion fruit margarita and a pornstar martini. Really wonderful chill tucked away spot. Highly recommend.

  • Review 10 (2024-03-03 - Rating: 5)

The service and drinks here are incredible. We asked for a custom cocktail, and they delivered! Really cool vibe and staff. Would recommend 10/10.

  • Review 11 (2022-10-18 - Rating: 4)

Drinks were 17$ but holy smokes they were strong. Well-made too top shelf stuff. I barely tasted the alcohol on the Coffee one and the Stowaway. I definitely felt it when I got up. Great vibe there too. I enjoyed the aesthetic, but they only had one bartender and a lot of people to serve so customer service was not great to no fault of his own he was nice. The owner should consider spending the money have having two people working.

  • Review 12 (2023-08-24 - Rating: 5)

Best place for Mocktails! We were passing by and spotted this vintage-vibe bar in the pouring rain. Aury was so warm and welcoming and made us all drinks tailored to our flavour profile preferences. I Sont drink and he made me a drink he’d never made before with pineapple, cucumber, and aqua fava and he named it “Le Jane” (near Jane St. and also my middle name. Definitely pop in for drinks if you’re in New York! (it’s near the High Line) The wood paneling and interior decor to mimic the Orient Express train cars is so charming.

  • Review 13 (2022-03-20 - Rating: 5)

Cozy and finished we’re quality with keen attention to detail. A little away from the madding crowd.Bathroom was gorgeous… always a good sign. Drinks were really delicious. Snacks were on point. But the highlight undoubtedly was the staff. The server was incredible and the bar tenders were just perfect.

  • Review 14 (2022-12-11 - Rating: 5)

Beautiful, cozy, bar with amazing cocktails and great service. Great place to take a small group of friends or a date before or after dinner. The staff was very accommodating and friendly on a very busy Friday night, and the drinks were perfection.

  • Review 15 (2023-04-26 - Rating: 5)

I love this bar! They have great unique drinks, and an extremely nice team working behind the bar. The ambiance is also so cute inside. We love popping in for a pre/post dinner drink in the West Village.

  • Review 16 (2022-09-21 - Rating: 5)

My go to bar in the city! Amazing atmosphere, great and very friendly service and there’s also always really fun people hanging out there too. I’ve had some of my best nights in the city in this place. I also love that there’s two separate parts - a cocktail and a wine bar, so perfect for each occasion!

  • Review 17 (2024-10-19 - Rating: 5)

    Great neighborhood bar.

  • Review 20 (2024-10-13 - Rating: 5)

Amazing bartenders, delicious cocktails and great snacks. Favorite bar is the city, for my mezcal drinkers highly recommend the Age of Aquarius

  • Review 21 (2024-03-20 - Rating: 5)

The ambiance here is truly fantastic—both the space and the service exceeded our expectations. The cocktails are exceptional, complementing the intimate setting perfectly. The team is highly communicative, ensuring a smooth experience by sharing insights into their operations with patrons. A heartfelt thank you to the Orient Express team for such a memorable visit.

  • Review 22 (2019-03-05 - Rating: 5)

Such a nice place in the middle of the West side. It belongs there with its artistic and mostly antique interior style. I ate chocolate croissant and scrambled eggs with Turkish sausage so far, and i must say both were great but the eggs was one of the best Turkish style eggs i had for the last few years in New York. Buket, who is the waitress most of the time i was there is amazing person. She has such a great taste in many things including, suggesting her favorites and finding the perfect music for the cafes atmosphere. Everything in the cafe creates the Orient Express world. Its antique-full decor surprises you with even the smallest details and it does not end in the main room, it expands even to the bathroom and you have the full Orient Express experience, right here in New York.

  • Review 23 (2023-08-24 - Rating: 5)

Stumbled upon this wonderful little space. Amazing drinks based on taste and style. Highly recommend to anyone living or visiting in the city

  • Review 24 (2023-04-26 - Rating: 5)

If there was a way to give this more stars, I would. Orhun and team put together an incredible wedding afterparty that incorporated both Orient/Turks flawlessly. The drinks, service, music, and overall experience couldn’t be better.

  • Review 25 (2021-08-14 - Rating: 5)

Our group had the best time. We went on a Friday. OE was busy but the service was fantastic. There was no wait for drinks at all. The staff was kind and responsive. They created drinks based on our taste. Drinks on and off the menu were equally fantastic. Well be back!

  • Review 26 (2013-08-25 - Rating: 5)

Every time I come here, I feel like I should be wearing a flapper dress! Its beyond adorable, the music is great, the staff are nice, and the drinks are fantastic. Try the Barmans Choice for a drink (or 2). Every time its a winner. The food is so so, not bad but not as great as the drinks.

  • Review 27 (2020-09-19 - Rating: 5)

I called ahead b/c we were going to be REALLY dressed up. I didnt want to feel weird about being there in black tie attire. The hostess said of course come! Its NYC, you can wear black tie anywhere, but you will fit right in here. And we did. It is lovely.

  • Review 28 (2019-08-14 - Rating: 4)

Its a cosy dim lit bar with some fantastic drinks. They have a limited menu, largely Mediterranean themed, the falafels were great and we got chicken skewers with a side of avocado salad which was also delicious. It gives a vibe of being a cool romantic speakeasy and the theme of a vintage train carriage really works for it. The drinks are unique and a great balance in flavors. without being to pretentious or steep like speakeasy drinks can be. You can even get a bartenders choice just tell him the kind of drink you want and he works his magic. My only complaint is probably how limited the menu is, there could be a few more appetizers.

  • Review 29 (2021-07-04 - Rating: 5)

Perfect spot for a date! The owner and waitstaff here helped me snag a great table, gave us just the right amount of privacy, and their drinks were terrific. Perfect to pair with their place next door!

  • Review 30 (2021-05-17 - Rating: 5)

Beautiful cozy little jem in West Village. Very good cocktails and nice setup.

  • Review 31 (2020-01-07 - Rating: 5)

Great cocktails and intimate setting! Our group of friends reserved Orient Express Bar for NYE and thoroughly enjoyed the period, train decor and fantastic cocktails and food prepared by the staff. Special thanks to Orhun for his superb mixology and attentiveness at the bar - not only did they have a well-developed list of excellent cocktails, Orhun prepared custom drinks based on customer alcohol and taste preferences. Could not have asked for a better experience!

  • Review 32 (2021-07-17 - Rating: 5)

This place is awesome. The bartenders are amazing and their cocktail list is great. They were super accommodating with our large group. Definitely would recommend!

  • Review 33 (2019-04-14 - Rating: 5)

Very cool place. I only cone here for the expresso and prefer to sit outside however the inside looks pretty sweet. The roof and the sides looks like a train cabin. Aka Orient Express.Espresso is good and service is great! One of the only places in the area that doesnt have the music blasting!

  • Review 34 (2023-06-17 - Rating: 5)

Loved the selection of drinks and the cozy ambiance. The decor and overall theme is a fun homage to the Orient Express trains.

  • Review 35 (2012-10-25 - Rating: 4)

A small, cozy, and hip cocktail spot, ideal for a drink while waiting for a table at The Spotted Pig. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and polite, and creative when it comes to preparing off-the-menu cocktails for you. The bar supplies (bitters, ginger syrups, etc.) are all high quality. Sit at the bar with a friend or two, or post up at the back tables with a larger crew.

  • Review 36 (2022-12-31 - Rating: 5)

Recently discovered this little gem, super cozy and intimate inside. The drinks aren’t crazy expensive (at least given the area) but they’re all delicious, and most importantly, strong. Friendly all around.

  • Review 37 (2023-01-16 - Rating: 5)

Superb cocktail bar, drinks, nibbles, and staff have always been great which explains our repeat visits. If youre in the mood for something boozy, may I suggest either the Better & Better or the No Vacancy. Both are excellent!! Cheers!

  • Review 38 (2023-09-02 - Rating: 5)

Ambiance can I say Ambiance wow! Felt like I walked into a high-end train cart from the 1920z! My drink was zest with cucumber essence, with a lemon peel of course! Loved the bartender what a experience almost dont want to tell my new little secret...perfect date spot a must go.

  • Review 39 (2018-01-21 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 40 (2024-03-03 - Rating: 5)

Great cocktails and amazing service! Loved the cozier and more intimate atmosphere

  • Review 41 (2021-07-02 - Rating: 5)

Fancy cocktails names after famous railroads or railroad stories. As a result of Covid they offer extended outdoor seating which was to our advantage on this delightful summer night. The drinks are crafted with care- delivered a little more casually. Make sure and go inside if you get seated outdoors because the motif is beautiful and specific.

  • Review 42 (2021-10-28 - Rating: 5)

Intimate, sexy, romantic. Bar was cozy and small with moody decor. Cocktails were good. Bartenders were bruiting and hunky. Great date spot

  • Review 43 (2023-05-09 - Rating: 4)

Bar was cool and music was good - but the bartender was a little curt and aggressive, barking orders at people … which kind of kills the vibe

  • Review 44 (2018-08-13 - Rating: 5)

Arguably too cool, too well priced, and too enjoyable for me to let everyone on Google Maps know about this place. Great all around bar. Small and intimate. Innovative drinks.

  • Review 45 (2022-03-16 - Rating: 5)

Hip cocktail bar with inventive drinks! Perfect for a small group or date, as the bar is noisy enough to have privacy in conversation, but not too loud to make it hard to hear across the table.

  • Review 46 (2017-08-29 - Rating: 5)

This place was a treat to walk into. The bartenders are very personable, cool and the drinks are strong and delicious! Ill be definitely going back.

  • Review 47 (2019-06-17 - Rating: 5)

Youll be transported here. Amazing coffee drinks if youre in for the day (note: dont plan on laptop work, its more of a talking or reading vibe), and prime cocktails if in for the evening. Enjoy!

  • Review 50 (2016-10-05 - Rating: 4)

Rating almost entirely on the theme, which lifted my spirits after the drab streets of New York. Shame about the air conditioning unit though.

  • Review 51 (2023-04-27 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 55 (2024-04-10 - Rating: 4)

What is it like to be in Manhattans only Orient Express-themed bar? When I came here on a late Friday night, the place was fairly crowded. The main room is narrow, somewhat resembling a train car. I ordered two drinks: their Hemmingway and their Not an Espresso Martini. I liked both of them. Overall its a nice, upscale cocktail bar.

  • Review 56 (2022-05-02 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 58 (2017-07-08 - Rating: 5)

Love this place and guess that, it’s now a coffee shop during the day! They have this old style coffee machine which makes the most delectable coffee, smokin’ and fresh! And OMG the pancakes!

  • Review 59 (2021-01-25 - Rating: 5)

What an assumingly pleasant bar. Grat spot for a chill Sunday vibe. I had the Westside OF - and strong.I cant believe this place has been here for 11 years! 👀 I must have passed here a few times and not even seen it.Good pre or post or post game spot but give the neighborhood, I wouldnt be surprised if the locals crowd this spot on Fridays and Saturdays.

  • Review 78 (2023-06-18 - Rating: 4)

Cool spot. The apps I tried and saw were worth it. Only negative was the off-putting attitude from one of the bartenders. His body language was as if he didnt want customers. Or maybe it was just me. Id return and give it another chance.

  • Review 79 (2022-04-05 - Rating: 5)

This inviting, understated cocktail spot has been one of our favorites since we moved to NY a decade ago. They are serious (but not obnoxious) about cocktails. Choosing from their menu is an option, but I prefer to let the barkeep use their judgment and surprise me. The food menu is simple but very well-executed. Until I went there last month, I couldnt tell you the last time I had hummus and pita and thought, wow, this is truly delicious! The staff is very hard-working and professional. This is also our regular watering hole if were trying to snag a dinner table in the neighborhood and the wait-list is several lifetimes long. So, having visited Orient Express occasionally over the years, we decided to reach out to them when we needed a venue for my wifes milestone birthday party. They were very accommodating and gave us a great quote. The service (drinks, food, music, cake, photography) was fantastic - attentive without being overwrought. Our guests were enthusiastic about the cocktails and the vibe. A bulls eye!

  • Review 80 (2022-09-01 - Rating: 4)

This place is pretty good. I was equally impressed with the alcohol- forward cocktails and how they bring out the liquor being served. Partner that with their epic cheese plate and you have a great night. The place is a little out in nowhere but I guess thats good if you like the out of nowhere feel. Overall a great spot

  • Review 81 (2017-01-17 - Rating: 4)

Nice concept (Orient Express) , good cocktails, the space inside is limited tho

  • Review 82 (2023-02-28 - Rating: 5)

I love this place. Stellar interior, knowledgeable bar staff, one of the few places in the city where I trust the bar staff implicitly, to the point where I might ask for something whisky based..., or like what I just had but with more citrus..., or even something not currently on the menu....If you like cocktails, or if you want somewhere cute AND tasty to take a date to, this is a great choice.

  • Review 83 (2023-04-23 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 84 (2019-02-05 - Rating: 4)

Came him on a rainy Sunday. Came to drink by myself and cry and BOY what a great time I had.The bar was pretty empty. One couple on a date, one person working on her laptop. I was worried about showing up in converse sneakers based on my friends past stories. But the place was more casual than I expected.I walked in and the bartender immediately said hello and gave me enough space to settle in.I grabbed a table by myself and enjoyed the light music and conversation of the couple besides me.I had two drinks. The Last Stop, which has Gin, St Germain and some lime and ginger. It was a pretty straight forward drink. It wasnt until I had a chocolate bourbon drink that I really was like, Hot damn. Its a nice and quiet -- out of the way cocktail bar. The bartender was polite, kind, and just the right amount of attentive. Its worth a local trip, but I wouldnt say its wickedly extra special.

  • Review 92 (2016-02-22 - Rating: 4)

My friends and I went here for drinks after a play on a Friday night. We ended up there because there were 7 of us and it was less crowded than other nice bars in the area (West Village). The atmosphere was dope. It is pseudo Agatha Christie-themed, like a train car. Overall, the space is beautiful, and the music was on point. The cocktails were pretty good, but not great, for the price ($14-15). Those prices are standard in the West Village, though, and service and atmosphere were both fantastic.

Made a request for a cocktail with egg white foam, the owner suggested a new interesting ingredient - that is chickpea foam. He customized a smokey cocktail for me with mezcal. Loved the creative spins on the drinks! Would return :)

A charming cafe & restaurant named and themed after the famous steam engine. Friendly staff, delicious food, great coffee, and excellent craft cocktails. Hunker down at a cozy table or admire the beautifully crafted bar from a comfy stool. Ill definitely be coming back!

Ask for the bartenders choice and you will not be dissapointed

  • Review 98 (2020-01-02 - Rating: 5)

We stumbled across this place a few months back. The staff is extremely professional and attentive. Their cocktail list is excellent. And the bartenders take their tending seriously. But without attitude. The atmosphere is chill and the lite bite food items are great. Even though I want to keep this place to ourselves Id highly recommend checking it out. Thank you Orhun for providing a fantastic experience on New Years Eve!!

Really surprised they removed the espresso machine which was a centerpiece to their bar. No more coffee based cocktails. Still a good bar with good bartenders. Bring back the espresso machine!

Adorable small bar great for a date night.

  • Review 101 (2022-09-07 - Rating: 5)

Went after work and had the best cocktail called In a lonely place made by our bartender Roni. Such an excellent after work beverage that helped me relax.

Exceptional service. Incredible cocktails served by Shayan!

  • Review 103 (2014-05-26 - Rating: 4)

Its very nice little bar and the bartender is a nice guy. Drink is not cheap but its quite strong, so I dont complain about it. Its always somewhat quite in the bar whenever I visit there. May be it gets crazy layer in the night, but I like its quite and slow feeling in there, almost feels like time slowed down a bit in there. If you have a date and want to have a glass of whatever while you can still hear the other person saying, this would be a nice place for you

  • Review 104 (2022-12-29 - Rating: 5)

Love it and consider it one of the coolest spots.

  • Review 105 (2013-10-10 - Rating: 4)

Good cocktails that will run you $12-14. I particularly recommend the Hercules III, its a well balanced smoky drink.Fun decor, the bar does a good job of looking like an old train car with luggage along the walls, a dark wood interior, and warm dim lighting.

  • Review 106 (2021-08-26 - Rating: 5)

Cozy spot for awesome cocktails. Staff is super friendly.

  • Review 107 (2019-07-28 - Rating: 4)

I was attracted by the ambiance; very cozy place and fair prices. I tried a non-alcoholic beverage, beer in this case, imported from Turkey: A+. I highly recommend this place!!!

Walk back in time to the Orient. Toot toot. Drinks: on point. Bartender: rude. He yells drink orders real good though.

The scrambled eggs breakfast is absolutely delicious. My new favorite spot.

  • Review 119 (2017-02-26 - Rating: 5)

Terrifically crafted, rather strong cocktails. Friendly service. Charming space.

  • Review 120 (2012-07-23 - Rating: 5)

This off-the-beaten-path cocktail spot is the best kept secret in the W. Village. The turn-of-the-century-themed space beset by old-school suitcases (and various other retro travel-inspired decor) plus the 1930s jazz soundtrack sets the tone for the killer cocktails being mixed up behind the bar. Try the Danube which mixes cucumber soda, vodka, lime juice and fresh mint. Theres also a small menu of snacks like charcuterie and cheese, flatbreads and other Mediterranean fare.

  • Review 129 (2014-01-23 - Rating: 5)

Shhh, this is one of the best kept secrets in the West Village for finding a great cocktail and a little respite from all of the raucous places over on Hudson. The bar snacks are nothing special, but alongside the great drinks they make the perfect accompaniment.

Craziness! Mega drinks and a great bartender! We accidentally stumbled into the bar because our original destination was completely overcrowded and we didnt regret it!The Turkish bartender mixed many drinks for us according to our wishes, each of which tasted unique.Brilliant evening, well be back!
