A Hidden Gem with Exceptional Cocktails! Please Don’t Tell (PDT) is hands-down one of the coolest speakeasies in New York City! The secretive entrance through the phone booth sets the tone for an unforgettable experience. Once inside, the cozy, intimate atmosphere makes it feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The cocktails are absolute perfection—crafted with precision and creativity using high-quality ingredients. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to recommend the perfect drink. Pair your cocktails with their famous hot dogs for a surprisingly amazing combo. If you’re looking for a unique, upscale cocktail bar, PDT is an absolute must-visit. Can’t wait to go back! -

Cozy little speakeasy. Make sure to get a reservation. The drinks were nothing spectacular but not bad either. The espresso martini is worth trying 💯 -
Review 3 (2024-12-11 - Rating: 4)
Good Speak Easy, drinks are unique and special, bartenders are funny and friendly. Just say that you want a table, we were seated in the corner at the bar with nearly no space at all, although we reserved a week in advance. -

It was an incredible experience! Entering through the phone booth for the speakeasy vibe was such a fun touch. The drinks were exceptionally creative, and everything we sampled was absolutely delicious. The service, from the welcoming doorman to the skilled bartender, was outstanding. I highly recommend this place and would definitely return if Im ever in the area again. -

Went for the cocktail class at 3pm and it’s about $100/person. They show you how to make 3 types of drinks and you got to take one for the road. Of course you drink each drink made which means you’ll be feeling nice nice! Super cute place and excellent service From beginning to end. They open at 5pm officially so we went back after around 7:30pm to have some more drinks and try their food. The Hanoi dog was excellent and the truffle trots EVEN BETTER!Loved the experience and neighborhood. Absolutely will recommend and cannot wait to go back -

What a great experience! I found this spot with a quick search of bars in the area and loved the idea of a “speakeasy” where you enter through a phone booth. The service, the food, and the drinks were all great! I really enjoyed myself and my friends had a blast. I can’t wait to go back.I highly recommend a splurge on the caviar tots. They were mouth watering! -

Im a little stingy with five star reviews, but this place is just the coolest. I am 100% a fan of secret doors, but even without the tiny telephone booth, PDT is great. Crif Dogs is awesome too, so no complaints there. The staff is super friendly and helpful (shout out to my guy from upstate), and the menu is solid. Then, when you actually get to PDT, anyone whos telling you its all about the cocktails has their head in the sand. The hotdogs can be made bunless (some sort of lettuce wrap thing), and theyre exclusive. The tots, too, are fancier than the varieties found at Crifs, and are delicious. Get the bacon tots and thank me later. The bartenders are knowledgeable, personable, and otherwise unobtrusive. I got a specialty drink and a custom crafted cocktail (a Cuban sour? Delicious? Rum and apricot and lemon and the frothiest egg white known to man?) and regret nothing. Most folks I saw were together in groups, but I went solo and sat at the bar for two hours and read a book (it went great with the drinks and the tots) and wasnt bothered in the least. Make a reservation - this place was FULL on a Monday at 5:30PM. -
Review 8 (2024-12-12 - Rating: 5)
A location that offers excellent, high-quality cocktails. Its not the first date, but its a great place to go. Make sure they are worthwhile because you will have to spend some money, but it will be worthwhile.Ensure that you have a reservation! It is quite doubtful that you can simply go in without one. -
Review 9 (2023-05-16 - Rating: 5)
Please Don’t Tell is a cool speakeasy hidden behind a phone booth in the Crif Dogs restaurant. You need to enter and dial the phone to get a host to come out. After you enter, the place is a small cozy bar with an extensive cocktail menu and great bar food.We tried a few different cocktails and they were all equally well done with lots of interesting flavors. The food is also top notch with high quality hot dogs from guest chefs like David Chang and other tasty dishes like tater tots.Highly recommend making a reservation first as I’ve tried multiple times to come here and it can get full quickly without one. -
Review 10 (2024-09-27 - Rating: 5)
Had the best time at this bar! The drinks were exceptional–creative and so delicious! The bartender, Ben, was the coolest! So down to earth and fun! My husband and I sat at the bar and watched the magic happen... Felt like a mixology course as Ben explained what he was doing and why. Would recommend this place to anyone seeking quality cocktails! -

Devin at the bar was amazing!! love her vibez and tunes. SLAY on queen. The place is super cute and perfect for a drunk make out session after you make your boo take that insta worthy pic. -
Review 12 (2023-12-04 - Rating: 5)
This is such a great speakeasy! You can get hot dogs and tater tots up front. If you want to grab a drink, go in the phone booth and dial 0. We arrived earlier in the evening and were able to get seated within 15 mins. The cocktails are a bit pricey but worth it. -
Review 13 (2023-07-13 - Rating: 5)
Had a great experience here. From beginning to end. The drink selection is definitely out if the ordinary. Maybe a little out there for some of us, but man they sure are creative. The whole atmosphere, and the place just vibes.Couples night out, friends night, or even a date. This is a great place to stop by and enjoy. Just remember to say the password, or they wont let you in. -
Review 14 (2024-09-23 - Rating: 5)
You want a swanky, complex cocktail and a hot dog and tots served in a speakeasy you get to from behind a phone booth in a dive hot dog joint? This must be the place. You can get the full fast food menu in the bar so make a reservation and go right in. The taxidermy animal motif and dark wood accents give it an old vibe but the drinks are new and fresh. -
Review 15 (2024-10-16 - Rating: 5)
Made a reservation for 7pm on a Thursday night. Didn’t appear to be too crowded otherwise.Atmosphere is great for this little hidden cocktail bar.Tried the Shark and Black Diamond. The Shark was good though not nearly as amazing as the Black Diamond turned out to me.The Black Diamond had amazing aromatics and a velvety foam on top. It was quite an amazing coffee based drink.Based on these two drinks I wish I had time to sample more. -
Review 16 (2024-11-12 - Rating: 5)
Love speakeasy’s? Cozy Vibes? Amazing bartenders? This is the place to be!! I had a blast of time at PDT, they serve the most creative cocktails out there, and the bartenders are super fun too. We went there to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday - they gave us complimentary champagne and birthday cocktail for her. The best part is the entrance of this place is such a cool experience - definitely a must try if you’re in town and love cocktails. -
Review 17 (2023-09-21 - Rating: 5)
I had booked a table for two as a surprise for my husband. He loved it, he had no clue what he was doing when I told him to use the phonebooth - it was brilliant. We were originally given a small table in a corner by the bar, which got very cramped when people got seated right behind us at the bar. Thankfully the server noted this and moved us to a booth. The mocktails were great and the food was an added bonus. Definitely a great experience for a first visit to a speakeasy! -
Review 18 (2024-04-10 - Rating: 5)
Ring on the telephone booth to get in. swanky longe vibes. good drinks, but you’re going for the vibe and secret entrance. unique experience in nyc. we do love a stiff creative martini. -
Review 19 (2023-04-14 - Rating: 4)
Really cool and fun spot for a cocktail. Some very complex and different cocktails you wont see everywhere. Ensure to get there when it opens or you will have to reserve a week before at 12 on the dot. I wouldn’t recommend eating here as it was only hot dogs, burgers and tater tots. Great date night spot pre dinner.. a bit small for big crowds. -
Review 20 (2022-10-01 - Rating: 5)
Worth the wait! The drinks were amazing and the tater tots we ordered were so tasty. I’d definitely recommend getting here early because the wait was super long when we came on a Friday night. It ended up taking about 2 hours from when we put our name in until we seated, but definitely glad we ended up coming. -
Review 21 (2024-12-23 - Rating: 5)
Very cool spot. Chill, dark and cozy vibes! Drinks and food were spot on and of course the unique entrance through the dogs shop is awesome. -
Review 22 (2023-08-17 - Rating: 5)
I always love visiting this place and love the way you enter. Be sure to make a reservation before visiting!! This place will most likely never have walk-in availability.Drinks are expertly crafted and the service is great. Ive been here a handful of times and its always consistent. -
Review 23 (2024-10-08 - Rating: 4)
A pilgrimage to one of the first speakeasy style bars in the city. It was a great bar and a well-curated experience, but did feel a little past its prime, or maybe it was just an off night. They had just started with their updated menu, and the bartender seemed a little unsure about how to describe some of the drinks on the menu and was very vague when answering questions about some of the components in the menu drinks. So we were kind of on our own to figure out the menu, but the drinks were ultimately really good. The vibe was excellent and very relaxed early on a weekday night.Still was a great experience to be at such a storied cocktail bar, and worth a visit. -
Review 24 (2024-05-28 - Rating: 5)
We are always hunting for experiences and Please Dont Tell was definitely one of them. Tasty cocktails and finger food with the charm of finding this speakeasy entrance. Seating is limited so either come in as soon as they open or have a reservation in advance. -
Review 25 (2023-07-09 - Rating: 5)
PDT is what you would call an institution. The very essence of a speakeasy down to its very coreThe experience is second-to-none. With a warm wecome from the host to being seated with a friendly demeanorn to the bartenders warm greeting as well.Drinks are made to perfection, as always, and the food is always prompt and arrives hot and ready to eat!Reservations are strongly reccomendedn unless you do not mind waiting at Criff Dogs (which is not a bad thing!). If you think making a reservation is tricky now, you clearly missed the glorious phone call days and should be thankful. -
Review 26 (2024-09-02 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely amazing bar. If you can get in, do it. Chloe was our bartender and she was amazing. Super down to earth, helpful and accommodating. Drinks wer excellent and the exclusive hot dogs were delicious (the David Chang dog is a must). I will definitely be back. Waited so many years to visit and it lived up to my expectations. -
Review 27 (2022-11-24 - Rating: 4)
The speakeasy is inside of a hot dog place and there’s a telephone booth you have to enter and dial the number 1 and say this phrase. Once you do that, someone opens the door to let you in. It’s a very cool experience that I enjoyed. The place is super small and crowded but it’s all part of the experience. I highly recommend making reservations though because of how busy this place is. The drinks were made strong and had a nice floral taste - I ordered a drink that is floral. The bartender was very friendly and provided great service. I wanted to visit this place back in September 2021 but reservations were fully booked at the time so I’m glad I got reservations when I visited NYC in October 2022. I definitely try going here. It’s a very fun yet intimate experience with friends or even on a date. Overall, amazing vibes and will definitely have to come back sometime 😊 -
Review 28 (2023-01-17 - Rating: 5)
An NYC speakeasy staple that Ive been meaning to go to for a long time. I found myself in the area with a friend and we went to put our names on a whim. Even without a reservation, we were able to get seated within 45 mins (although our bartender told us the wait can sometimes span multiple hours).I was really impressed with the place. Great ambiance and even better drinks (though be warned that you will be paying ~$20 per drink and ~$40 for their specialty cocktails with high-end liquor). Their lassi drink managed to get the taste of both a delicious curry and an excellent lassi. They also had a blood orange/chocolate/lavender drink that hit some very nice floral/citrusy notes which I enjoyed. It took a little while to get our drinks but you could see that it was because the bartender was carefully crafting them. The host and server were both extremely nice and knowledgeable about the cocktails and mixology (thanks Sadie and Cooper!).I definitely intend to return to try out the rest of their drinks. -
Review 29 (2021-05-21 - Rating: 5)
Such a cute little hidden secret place! :) loved the atmosphere. Victor the bartender was super nice and friendly. Food wise - they have small bites to Eat nothing too crazy. Highly recommend the ‘paddington’ cocktail! I had the ‘shark’ and it was all right. -
Review 30 (2024-01-02 - Rating: 5)
A lovely spot with great cocktails. We went on NYE and had some really special cocktails. My personable favorite was the black diamond - tasted like an espresso martini with a waft of caramelized sugar. -
Review 31 (2024-12-22 - Rating: 5)
Almost most beautiful bar I’ve ever been too!The blonde tall bartender man is absolutely amazing! -
Review 32 (2021-10-26 - Rating: 5)
This was my first speakeasy with a hidden entrance, and it was super cool! Once through the Crif Hot Dogs phone booth, you’re in a very cozy cocktail lounge with a great drink selection. The Paddington and the Molevardier were both very solid drinks. The fries from next door were a nice compliment. The staff was very friendly as well. Definitely a cool place to visit! -
Review 33 (2024-10-30 - Rating: 5)
Came here without a reservation on a Tuesday night before dinner time. Service was quick & nice though the place filled up pretty fast. I had Suntory Time Machine, Fields Forever and Chang dog. STM is amazing and the rest above average. Overall great experience -
Review 34 (2022-11-12 - Rating: 5)
Well, it is tough to score this place anything other than a 5, even though its hype and the expectations one should have about it if you are into mixology and adore Meehan’s book like we do, PDT is a Mecca to pray toward for its model of all things sacred to spirits - true spirituality. Service was great, drinks were delicious and well prepared - although a little slower than you would think they should be, but quality does take longer. Probably don’t need to go back, once was enough, but it was definitely worthwhile going once and being able to enjoy the holy grounds. -
Review 35 (2024-09-25 - Rating: 5)
Love this speakeasy cocktail bar! Really enjoyed the drinks and intimate atmosphere. We got a few drinks which were all perfectly balanced and so well crafted. Also tried the Chang Dog (couldn’t resist a bacon wrapped, kimchi adorned hot dog) and tater tots. All excellent. Bartender was super friendly and had a great time all around. Definitely try to make reservations beforehand. -
Review 36 (2020-03-10 - Rating: 4)
Small speakeasy offering a great collection of cocktails and bar snacks. The whole experience was fun. If its your first time, try to avoid booking your reservation when the bar opens so that you can experience the entrance on your own -
Review 37 (2022-03-30 - Rating: 5)
Such a fun speakeasy. You have to go to the phone booth of Crif Dog. Dial 1 on the phone booth and someone will get to you.The hostess was kind enough to accommodate us despite coming an hr early. This was on a Monday evening so itll probably be hard to do on a weekend.Drinks were amazing! Just talk with the bartender if youre getting overwhelmed by the menu (we sat on the bar). The bartender was awesome as well and gave us good recommendations. Super chill environment and it was packed despite it being a Monday. -
Review 38 (2017-06-19 - Rating: 5)
What else can one say that hasnt been said already? If youre in NY, you MUST check them out. Unique and original cocktails in a very cozy, moody atmosphere. Keep in mind that reservations are for the day of only. Phone line opens at 3pm on a daily basis. Expect a busy line when calling, but you must keep trying until you get thru! -
Review 39 (2021-08-09 - Rating: 5)
Some of the most well crafted cocktails in the city. The specialty dogs and ambiance are amazing too.mm Once you get a reservation - now available on Resy for up to a week in advance sometimes - its a completely wonderful experience. -

Great bar, hidden in a hotdog shop, behind a phone booth, dial 1 and someone will open the secret door.Dim lights give a cozy atmosphere, great for a date with your partner or drinks with friendsCocktail were good.Hotdogs were really good too. -
Review 41 (2018-03-28 - Rating: 5)
PDT is hands down an amazing experience. Yes it’s a bit small but I wouldn’t say it’s tiny. The atmosphere and attitude were perfect and we had seats right at the bar to watch the action. Our bartender, AK, was friendly and was happy to share lore about various ingredients and components. My friend asked her to make any drink that came to mind for her as it was the last of our trip and with one basic question, she produced the best cocktail he’d ever had.I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Word of warning though: you might wait for a couple hours while others wait 10 minutes. They have a method so just go with it.Staff is great, drinks are phenomenal and the experience was worth the wait.Drinks we had, which were all amazing are pictured. The Cloister, The Katz Meow and the Subrosa. -
Review 42 (2019-07-24 - Rating: 4)
Unfortunately the internet has ruined places like this, but its still a fun novelty to go to a speakeasy through a secret entrance. The hot dogs and tater tots were good, not amazing. Drinks over priced for what you get. I ordered a bacon old fashioned which unfortunately want too my taste. My own fault for thinking bacon would make a good drink better 😂 -
Review 43 (2024-06-28 - Rating: 5)
Drinks were exceptional. Had the Mezcal Mule and the Fountain Cobbler. Both were excellent. The Fountain Cobbler is one of the most interesting cocktails Ive ever had. So many different flavours blended together but work so well. 10/10 -
Review 44 (2023-07-31 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely love this spot! Easy to find via Crif Dogs. Go into phone booth and dial 1. Hostess is very accommodating. Bartenders are great. DEFINITELY worth the wait! Dont forget to get your own PDT cocktail book to take home as a souvenir! -
Review 45 (2022-07-29 - Rating: 5)
A NYC classic speakeasy. It had been years since Id come, so I wanted to revisit with a friend. We also wanted to check out the renovations which didnt seem that noticeable to my friend who is a regular. I got the el guapo, which is one of my favorite drinks to order at cocktail bars. It was good. One huge turn-off was the bartender who was visibly ill, blowing his nose and not washing his hands or using hand sanitizer afterwards. Yikes. -
Review 46 (2023-02-20 - Rating: 4)
Pretty good drinks in speakeasy type bar. Drinks are on the pricier side but theyre good. Staff is attentive and drinks come out pretty quickly -
Review 47 (2019-04-11 - Rating: 5)
Walk into a hot dog joint (Crif Dogs), step into a phone booth, dual a special number, and get into one of NYC’s top speakeasies.Atmosphere gets an A+...but this being a “speakeasy,” you’d expect that. Drinks A++... great cocktails (and actually affordable considering NYC prices)—ask the bartender to make something special if you want to take a risk—I didn’t drink the same drink twice because I just wanted to keep testing the bartender...he didn’t fail. Presentation was nice too. Now, food, I was worried, because we actually went for dinner...then we saw the menu...hot dogs, burgers, fries. “Damnit” I thought, but let me tell you...the hot dogs were insanely good (especially the one with kimchi on it!). Easily the BEST tater tots I’ve ever had. Just my opinion, but stay away from the burger (not great). But was pleasantly surprised by everything else. One last thing...make a reservation. You have to call at 3pm the day you want to go. Problem is that everyone is calling at the same time. It took us 45 minutes to get through to them, since they only have one phone line, and we got the last reservation. Well worth making it though, because the wait was THREE hours without a reservation. -
Review 48 (2023-08-04 - Rating: 5)
Wow, the line trying to get into this place was unreal. We squeezed our way through Crif Dogs to put our name down on a Saturday night at around 11pm, got seated after about 40 minutes. But man, after you get past the crazy line, it’s so nice and relaxing inside. Their drinks were stellar. Iono why, but their tater tots were hitting so hard too. -
Review 49 (2022-03-25 - Rating: 5)
Crift dogs was everything I expected, I’d seen reviews and whispers and a long time ago a tv show that reviewed them as a hidden gem 💎 and I was pleasantly surprised to find out the food was delicious ALL OF IT!!! The hotdogs were actually bacon wrapped 🥓 and toppings of all kinds all delicious 🤤 I, myself will definitely be back again! -
Review 50 (2018-11-11 - Rating: 5)
Loved our experience here. The atmosphere and drinks were absolutely amazing . The bartenders were attentive and even made us drinks based on our personal preferences. A reservation is highly recommended. It is a small space and without a reservation the wait can be around 2-3 hours on the weekends. To get a reservation you call their number starting at 3pm the day of, but it requires persistence. There were 3 of us calling 40+ times each until we were able to get through. But I would do it all over again next time we are in town. Worth the effort! -
Review 51 (2019-03-02 - Rating: 5)
I loved the novelty of the phone booth entrance, but the crowd of people around it took away from the subtlety of it all. We put our name down around 8 on a Friday night and waited almost an hour and a half to get in. Inside, it had a distinct speakeasy vibe with a lot of taxidermy along the walls. The drinks were delicious! The Noël drink with gin and pine was great as were the tropical drinks. The Shark Attack was surprisingly good. -
Review 52 (2024-09-27 - Rating: 5)
Great cocktails hidden behind a secret door in Manhattan.Once we knew the location on the map, it wasn’t too hard to figure out which door in which store led to the bar. There was a short line, but it moved quickly. On our first attempt, they didn’t have space for our party of five, but they took our number and called us about 40 minutes later when a spot opened up. The bar is designed like a corridor, so it’s not very spacious, but it feels authentic and cosy. They offer a great selection of Mexican-inspired cocktails, and we were able to try several:- Aromatherapy – A fancy twist on a Negroni- Ultraviolet Fizz – Light and refreshing (My personal favourite)- Elixir Azteca – Both smoky and fresh- Moment of Clarity – A dirty martini with a sesame flavour (sesame flavour may feel too intense if you are not used to it)- Black Diamond – A sweeter, more elegant take on the espresso martini- Pablo’s Pearls – Fruity and fresh with a hint of Thai basilIf you enjoy experimental cocktails and unique flavours, this place is a must-visit! -
Review 53 (2018-05-15 - Rating: 4)
I had a good time here its a small intimate bar so its a great place for a first date or anything where you plan on talking. The staff is really attentive and made great drink recommendations. They have a really good cocktail menu be ready for some sticker shock because cocktails are $16 EACH. The food menu is somewhat lacking. Because this place is attached to Crif Dogs(a hot dog stand) expect dressed up hot dogs and tater tots. -

Review 57 (2017-12-06 - Rating: 4)
Been here three times, really for their craft cocktails. But don’t get me wrong, I love their hotdogs!Pro:- speakeasy are fun! Love seeing the interior and good experience- variety of hot dogs. I got the one w cilantro and cucumber. Have to say, didnt know hotdogs go so well with veggies.- literally great cocktails for average NYC priceCon:-super crowded and the place is pretty small... I always like sitting at the bar as you are not bother as much- reservations doesn’t mean you won’t wait- when its cold out, you’re most likely waiting in the cold ❄️- takes a while for the waitress to get your order, meaning food is delayed- you have time limit -

Fun and hip. A great place for a first date or to hang with a group of friends. Reservations are a must and the drinks are a bit pricey ($16). That being said, the quality, ambiance, and exclusivity make it well worth it. One of the better speak easies in New York. Apologies for the blurry photo. -

LOOONG wait without reservations. Got there 10mins after opening and waited nearly an hour and a half. Concept of secret speak easy is very cool, entrance is awesome. Cocktails are pricey($17ea)but delicious. Food service is from the front business, limited options as expected but very fast service and food was good. -

Amazing cocktails, very intimate vibe, and great staff. This is a great place for a date or gathering with a small group of friends.Although on the pricier end of the spectrum, it is worth it; there was not a single cocktail we didn’t enjoy. There is no wonder why it’s so hard to get a table here. Definitely recommend booking a reservation to avoid the disappointment of not getting in (online booking window opens at 3pm EST, 7 days in advance). One of the best cocktail focused bars in NYC! -

Hidden bar in nyc, very experienced and entertaining waiters. My drink (moscow mule) was absolutely delicious. Of course it’s expensive, but the experience was worth it. wasn’t able to get a hot dog afterwards (they closed) but will go back to get one at some point for sure! -

Went for the first time the other night and had a lovely time. The flavors of the cocktails were innovative and seasonal and the staff were able to provide excellent recommendations! The drinks, even the boozier options were easy sippers (maybe a little too easy). Cocktails started at $19 which is premium pricing for this neighborhood and you can definitely find drinks on par for a better cost in the area. But, worth it for a cool speakeasy experience every so often. Certainly not becoming a go-to but was happy to go once. -

This is a really, really popular place. I came right before it opens at 6 and the waiting line is already all the way to the hot dog shops counter. If you want to drink at PDT, either be strategic about when you visit or expect to wait for a looooong time (aka dont complain about how you waited for forever because you shouldve known better). The bars really cozy and the drinks are pretty innovative! -

Very cool speakeasy experience.Highly recommend making a reservation. We made reservations and still had about a 10 minute wait. The servers were very nice and attentive. The drinks were so delicious and beautifully crafted.Slight disappointment that they werent able to make The Cinema Highball when it had originated at PDT. -

Pretty cool speakeasy but it can be a major pain trying to get into this place. You can call the day of to get a reservation, which I highly recommend because you can end up waiting all night to get in. The great thing is that the place is nearby a bunch of other bars, so you have plenty of options to kill time before they give you a call. The entrance is in a hot dog/pizza place that is pretty family friendly. Probably not the best place to be located because the place got really packed when people started lining up to put their name on the list, while a bunch of kids were celebrating a birthday party. The speakeasy process is pretty easy, as you just pick up the phone, and the lady who arranges seating comes out and helps you out.The cocktails here are definitely worth trying if youre able to get in. Ordered the old fashioned and it was fantastic. Strong and tasty, without being overly sweet. Prices can be pretty steep at $16 per drink, but rest assured, these bartenders know what theyre doing.Overall, drinks were fantastic, but I highly recommend that you set up a reservation to avoid the nightmare of getting in. -

Review 100 (2024-09-19 - Rating: 5)
Most (in)famous speakeasy bar of NYC! Go here if you are in the neighborhood! It has the very special entrance in a phone cell. Make sure you have reserved otherwise you are not going to make it inside - you will be written on a long waiting list. My wife and I had a nice experience visiting PDT. As a little minor, I can say that the bar is not too big and when we were there a lot of people were standing close to our table, so at some point we couldnt hear ourselves anymore. Also, you (at least we did) get a limited time slot after which you have to leave the bar. Room for improvement as they could have told us up front that we could only stay for 1,5 hours. -

Like many speakeasies in town, this one has an interesting entrance by a hot dog shop. Then there is an old phone booth where you dial (1) which is the bell for the speakeasy.Friendly staff, fast service, prices little high as expected for any speakeasy.Reservation is highly recommend, I got 1 am spot. -
Review 103 (2022-03-06 - Rating: 5)
This NYC speakeasy did not disappoint! The drinks were delicious, service was attentive and professional, and the music was great. The bar itself was very much an experience and I really enjoyed it - the phone booth entrance and food experience made this place perfect to finish off a birthday celebration. Went on a Friday night, WITH a reservation - which I highly recommend otherwise you’re probably not going to get in on the weekends. -

Stopped by here on a recent trip to NYC. Had a 6:15 reservation and we were in right at that time with no hang ups or waits. The host was awesome and personable as was the wait staff, they didnt mind the repeated coat checks or exits for smoke breaks. Drinks and food are on the pricey side but worth every cent, we werent at all rushed. The food is pretty limited but the pastrami bacon Ruben-ish concoction was the best thing eaten the entire trip. The cocktails rank highly among the best Ive had and the whole experience was genuinely excellent. -

This place is such an unexpected one to discover. It isn’t what it all seems. Love the way we have to get in to the bar. My husband and I decided to sit at the bar as we love to see the bartenders make the drink and have good banters with them.Sam was our bartender for the night. He explained that as we go through the pages of the cocktail menu from start to end, they go from refreshing to heavy which is so very true. We enjoyed every cocktail we had. Sam provided excellent service and banter. And since it was our wedding anniversary, we were given complimentary cocktails and a card from the bar wishing us. It felt personal and heartwarming. We will definitely come back here. -

Excellent speakeasy inside of a hotdog store. Definitely get reservations first! We enjoyed some of the best cocktails in NYC, including a couple with Japanese whiskey and a classic rum cocktail. All of them were an experience with multiple flavors, appearing and disappearing after each sip. Truly masterful mixologist work here. The vibe is business casual and the service was efficient. Great place for a date or a small group of friends. -

Please Dont Tell boasts a trendy atmosphere that is hidden away from the rest of the city. Their craft cocktails are super unique and tasty. The place is not too loud and crowded, making it an awesome atmosphere. Make sure you make a reservation, so that you are not waiting for too long. Dialing into the phone booth is very fun. Make sure you order tater tots from Criff Dogs and have them at your table. -

Delicious cocktails in a cool atmosphere! I always bring tourist friends here--it has a cool speakeasy entrance (through a telephone booth), but it is hard to get reservations and the wait can be long without one. Ive always managed to get a table within an hour or so though and there are tons of other bars nearby to go to for a drink while youre waiting. -
Review 118 (2017-08-25 - Rating: 5)
Top-notch speakeasy. The entry through the phone booth is amazing. The cocktails are great, the lighting is low, and you are guaranteed a seat if you get in. They only allow as many people in as there are seats, so get there early or try to make a reservation. The wait time can be multiple hours, but tipping the doorman can help your cause. -

My wife and I come here every year for Valentines Day. The food is always great, but the cocktails and atmosphere cant be beat. Staff has always been patient and accommodating, not to mention nice conversation. The best place for a quiet and intimate drink or meal. -

Expensive hidden bar with great drinks and good hot dogs would be the only way I would describe this place. The entrance is really cool and a great experience for visitors. I love bringing visitors here they always love it at least for 1 drink. Dont forget to make reservations though!! Its a must. -
Review 121 (2022-10-18 - Rating: 4)
Very well-executed cocktails, its easy to get them overly sweet, but all the cocktails were very well-balanced. the bartender kept pestering to order more drinks (despite the drinks being still half full), and just wanted to get high turnover though - i understand the incentivisation model in the us f&b industry but do it more subtly. -
Review 122 (2016-01-19 - Rating: 5)
Cant fault this place- definitely one of the most inventive cocktail bar entrances Ive come across (and Ive walked through a mirror, a wardrobe and a fridge in London!). We went fairly early on a Sunday and the wait was still 1.5 hours- the charming host let us in a bit early though and suggested a local bar for a beer while we waited. Once in, the space was small but spectacular- the bar tenders were friendly and the menu was extensive- some of the best cocktails Ive ever had hands down. We also ordered a portion of tater tots to share as a snack- the portion was so huge it fed us both as our evening meal! If youre in NYC, living or visiting, definitely dont miss out on this- its fantastic and a place that will put a smile on my face for a long time. -
Review 123 (2018-12-09 - Rating: 5)
Its not easy to get into the speak easy side of this bar, but once youre in its super cool! Once you get to the other side, they seat your party comfortably at a table, where the vibe is quaint and chill. The drinks are all amazing - a true work of art! So glad to have been able to check this place off my NYC bucket list :-) -
Review 124 (2017-11-22 - Rating: 4)
Pretty cool speak easy. No secret passwords and not much room at all. Had maybe 4 tables and a bar that sat about 10. Ceilings were low and the room was thin, creating a claustrophobic feel.Bartender was great and very friendly. He made the drinks well and was strict with the pours. (Anymore and it would overflow the glass). It was a cool experience but at 16 bucks a drink, it gets pricey quick. Also for the new people, walk into the restaurant to the right of the address and when you walk in about 10 feet look left and youll see a red phone, pick it up and dial 1. The door next to you will open and youll be asked your name. (Make a reservation @3pm the day of) you can not make a reservation prior to the day of. Also, the phone stays busy so keep trying back... some people try 50 times. I got in on try 6. Someone else I talked to got in on first try. I called around 306pm and they called at 315pm. If that helps. -

It is a great secret spot thats not a secret so if you want to go make sure youre willing to wait roughly 3 hours so get there at 5:45 to wait in line to put your name on a reservation that will take roughly an hour to 3 hours if you get there past 6 so be roughly about 15 people in front of you. Again I want to add this place is totally worth it it is so much fun great bartender. She has a great attitude and she can make a mean drink. -

PDT is an institution at this point - fairly early (and fairly influential) in the 21st century cocktail renaissance, and still delivering strong results. The menu is full of interesting flavors and ingredients that should keep you intrigued (even if youve read their book - which if youre interested in cocktails you should) and the bartenders know how to make excellent selections for your flavor preferences. The hot dogs from next door (available at PDT) are also quite tasty. I had the vegetarian dog and was quite impressed. -

Total legit. Service is fast and friendly and the drinks are all winners. Also serves late-night eats courtesy of the hot dog joint next door. Ive read complaints here but seriously dudes its a hot dog joint! It does what it says on the tin: dogs, tater tots, and waffle fries. If you want fine dining then go to a fine dining restaurant. To me, really no surprise at all the place is an institution. Fun, relaxed atmosphere and great drinks. -

OK I would not have given it 4 Star if not for the help sadly, of Hurricane Sandy. We couldnt easily get a reservation here because you have to call at 3PM on the same day and really, how crazy it is to fight for a reservation with minutes-long window of opportunity!Well, so when a lot of people were limited by the choice of public transportation, we took the opportunity to walk in and see if we could get a table. We didnt get it right away but we snailed a cancelled reservation after an hour of drinking next door. The place is small and dimly lit and they dont take reservation for more than 4 people. It is a very interesting experience form going into a phone booth calling or asking for permission to go in. Some people call it pretentious but I call it mysterious. We were seated in the corner and the drinks were strong and unique.I got the Peanut Butter Cup. I know it is girly but I really enjoyed it. I felt like I was drinking a peanut butter shake and it is also very strong. It costs me $15 but the alcohol and flavor makes it worthwhile.I wonder if I would be able to get in so easily next time... -
Review 139 (2012-03-05 - Rating: 4)
Please Dont Tell is the gold standard for how to mint money from exclusivity and allure. The entrance to PDT is accessed by a old telephone booth in a greasy hot dog joint. Although a little over-hyped, you feel part of an exclusive club just knowing about it- a feeling further enhanced if you bring someone who has no idea what is about to happen. Through the telephone booth is a small lounge and bar. Dimly lit and elegantly decorated, the telephone booth appears to have transported you back in time to the 1920s . The bar and waitstaff are impeccably dressed to match the decor. Drinks are pricey ($15), but well worth it. Reservations are highly recommended (accepted only the day of, starting at 3pm), but even so, you may be asked to wait. They will, however, call you when a table is ready. The hot dog menu from next door is a very nice, but out of place perk. Nothing like a Manhattan to wash down your bacon wrapped cheese dog. -

Please Don’t Tell has quickly become my favorite cocktail haven. Their Tio Tonico is a must-try—refreshing, perfectly balanced, and the best cocktail I’ve had in NYC. The bar’s intimate, speakeasy vibe adds to its charm, with an ambiance that makes every visit feel special. With high-quality cocktails and a stylish interior, this hidden gem is a spot I cant recommend enough! -

Cool little prohibition-themed bar thats hidden behind a phone-booth in a hot dog restaurant. Drinks are pretty pricey, but are different and actually pretty good. Its a small packed place and the only way to get in is through a reservation. Theyre usually at max capacity, so you might have to wait sometimes before youre let in. Definitely a fun experience. -

A cool little spot to check out if you havent been. Its hidden inside a hot dog joint so dont look for a sign from the street because you wont find one. Inside the hot dog joint theres a phone booth to the left which is the entrance to PDT. Its a very small lounge with good drinks. The hidden entrance just makes for a fun new experience. Id recommend going at least once. -

My party of three did not make reservations in advance, but we put our name on the waiting list around 8:30. They told us it would be at least a 2-hour wait, but Im lucky enough to live on the same block as PDT, so we were able to hang out at my apartment until PDT called us. It did take about 2 and a half hours until we were called, but this was to be expected for such a popular place. We were extremely pleased with the quality of our cocktails and the friendliness of our bartender. The tater tots with fresh jalapenos in cheese sauce really hit the spot! -

Review 148 (2014-04-21 - Rating: 4)
Please Dont Tell is yet another iconic NYC speakeasy. A phone line that opens each day at 3PM allows guests to make reservations in advance, although getting through to an actual person (and securing a seat) is quite the feat. The effort is worth it though, if just for the chance to enter the phone booth in Crif Dogs and to walk into the actual venue. The dim, slightly eerie ambiance (thanks to an array of stuffed game along the walls) is easily forgotten after an excellent cocktail. Bartenders choice is an option for those who are okay with leaving the drink to the mixologists. While prices are on the higher end, its worth it for the experience. -

Hidden in the heart of Manhattan behind a telephone booth is this great speak easy. I got here early Sunday night and was seated promptly. The first drink I had was Chita Spot which was premade but still was rather delicious. Next was the bartenders suggestion Katzs Meow and it was actually pretty good. The drinks are on point and the service is great. The place is a little smaller, but still very comfortable as they dont let it get over crowded. -

You will have to enter via the Hot Dog shop and dial 1 in the phone booth to get in.. fun experience but the host was kinda rude when I questioned the wait time of 2 hours. Was BS and we got in after 15min.. the wait was worth it as the drinks were all so unique and bartenders were educated, friendly, and professional. We were supposed to continue our bar hopping but got stuck at this fantastic bar -

Epic Speakeasy. Please Dont Tell is one of the worlds best cocktail bars. Sure the entrance is killer but what makes the joint are the drinks made by top notch mixologists. It only seats about 40 people. They start taking reservations at 3pm. Its a bit like trying to call a radio station to win something. You need to be on your A game to get in. This place is worth it, though. -

Love this place but so unfortunate that its a tourist attraction now...Also, if the hostess is going to be a Class A B to me, she better be a 10 at best. For those who really just want to go indulge and appreciate the amazing cocktails (and not take pictures of the phone booth and become all giddy at the experience of dialing 1 on an old- school rotary phone);get the Bacon Infused Old- Fashioned. -

Well worth the visit, got to Crif Dogs at around 9, there is a line walking into a phone booth where they check you into the bar, you can make a reservation and cut the line if you call when they open at 6pm, We had to wait for 3 hours to get a spot in the bar, but it was no issue for us, just place your name and phone number and they will call you when there is space available for you and your group. , we explored the hundreds of other dive bars in the East village and walked to McSorleys about 3 blocks away, this is Manhattan, if you cant find something to do for 3 hours than youre either a snob or you arent trying at all. the drinks were delicious, they may seem a bit over priced but the drinks were strong tasted amazing and by expensive i mean $15 for most drinks which is not far fetched for any bar in NYC. Overall great time and will certainly be a returning customer -

Great vibe and good drinks! I order tots and they were great (if you like tots, definitely partake. Dont miss out).
