Red Rooster Harlem, owned by celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson, is a charming and vibrant restaurant that embodies the cultural richness of Harlem. The fried chicken was, without question, the best I have ever tasted. Its perfectly crispy skin and exceptionally juicy meat, complemented by the house special hot sauce, deliver an authentic southern experience. The shrimp and grits, though elegantly prepared, fell slightly short of the bold, rustic southern flavors I had hoped for. The deviled eggs and apple pie, however, were spot on—so delicious that they left me eager for another visit. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and I highly recommend it.

  • Review 2 (2024-12-29 - Rating: 5)

Gave us yummy complimentary deviled eggs. The food was all spectacular. They have a really unique and colorful atmosphere and I liked the waiter’s fit. They let us move to a place not right next to the jazz band even though the music was beautiful. The vibes were bumpin to say the least

  • Review 3 (2024-11-10 - Rating: 5)

I will start with the good things🤩The food is the most delicious, the atmosphere is so pleasant, the cocktails are amazing especially the strawberry soda; but above all the best service Ive come across in a long time (sorry I cant remember the waitresss name). We were 6 people and very quickly realized that the waitress was very professional so we went with all her recommendations regarding food and alcohol (see at the pictures).Thank you very much friends for an amazing evening!!See you next time.

  • Review 4 (2024-10-07 - Rating: 5)

The chicken and waffle was great, but the highlight for me was hands down the Sunday live jazz music played by the amazing performers. Super friendly staff too. A strong recommend for sure if youre in the area.

  • Review 5 (2024-12-28 - Rating: 5)

The service was fantastic Jade made me feel at home and the Hostess was very attentive, Jade’s recommendation were on point. The food was amazing and very flavorful of pure goodness. The cornbread was too good to leave behind, complements to the chef!! The bartender’s drinks were strong and delicious.

  • Review 6 (2024-06-30 - Rating: 5)

The deviled eggs has no business being that good! The garlic mash was pure perfection and the cornbread was good but the butter that was orange was top notch. Even the coffee was outstanding. Definitely worth it for brunch and will come back for dinner one of these days!

  • Review 7 (2024-11-03 - Rating: 5)

Great service started with the hostess as soon as we walked in! Lady A invited was on point and got us settled immediately. Food service was very quick, but if it had been a while, it would have been worth the wait! Fried catfish, fried chicken, shrimp and grits, collard greens, and mac & cheese were all bangin with great sized portions !!

  • Review 8 (2024-10-21 - Rating: 4)

A must try: cornbread which has a hint of sweetness, wild wild wings had such a great flavor. The drumsticks and thighs had a perfect crunch. The restaurant was nice, dim lights great music.

  • Review 9 (2024-09-02 - Rating: 5)

This restaurant did not disappoint. I was very impressed. Everything was delicious. The harlem sobolu was delicious. Tasted like sorrel. However the highlight for me was the bucatini picadilly. That was delicious. And if had to choose between the wild wild wings and the yardbird, both delicious, wild wild wings are the winner. I would go back just to try everything else on the menu.

  • Review 10 (2024-06-26 - Rating: 5)

Loved everything about Red Rooster!!! I have been waiting a very long time to come and I was so happy to have a dream come true! It was so emotional to finally get there. The only way this experience could’ve blown my mind was if Marcus Samuelson had come through. They even helped us celebrate my son’s graduation with peach cobbler, ice cream, and whipped cream! What an AMAZING EXPERIENCE!I LOVED EVERYTHING about being there- food, service, entertainment, environment, even the location (straight from the subway to the entrance).Thank you for making sure my dream come true was fulfilled!

  • Review 11 (2024-06-23 - Rating: 5)

Red Rooster in Harlem is an absolute gem that truly embodies the vibrant spirit and rich cultural tapestry of the neighborhood. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both cozy and lively. The decor is a beautiful blend of modern elegance and historical charm, reflecting Harlem’s storied past and dynamic present. The ambiance is further enhanced by the live music performances that often grace the venue, creating an energetic and soulful vibe that perfectly complements the dining experience. Now, let’s talk about the food – simply put, it’s exceptional. We started with the Crab Cake appetizer, which was a perfect balance of rich, flavorful crab and a zesty, tangy sauce that left our taste buds dancing. For the main course, we indulged in a variety of dishes. The Mac and Cheese with Greens was a comforting delight, with the creamy, cheesy pasta perfectly complemented by the earthy, well-seasoned greens. The Salmon was cooked to perfection – tender, flaky, and accompanied by a savory glaze that enhanced its natural flavors. The Chicken and Waffles were an absolute standout – the chicken was crispy and juicy, while the waffles were light and fluffy, creating a harmonious blend of sweet and savory.Dessert was a sublime end to our meal. The Tiramisu was a dream – light, creamy, and with just the right amount of coffee flavor. The Mango and Strawberries with roasted coconut was a refreshing and exotic treat, offering a delightful combination of sweetness and texture. The cocktails at Red Rooster are another highlight. The creative concoctions are not only visually stunning but also perfectly balanced and incredibly refreshing. Whether you’re enjoying a classic Harlem Mule or one of their signature drinks, you’re in for a treat. What truly sets Red Rooster apart, though, is the impeccable service. The staff is genuinely friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, making you feel like a valued guest from start to finish. They are more than happy to share the stories behind the dishes and the inspiration from the local community that influences the menu.In addition to the fantastic food and atmosphere, Red Rooster is deeply committed to supporting the Harlem community. This commitment is evident in everything they do, from sourcing ingredients locally to hosting community events.Overall, Red Rooster is not just a restaurant – it’s an experience. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, dining here is an absolute must. You’ll leave with a full stomach, a happy heart, and a deeper appreciation for the rich culture and culinary excellence that Harlem has to offer.

Can never go wrong with anything on the menu. Cornbread is off the charts. Be sure to check out the live music schedule and would recommend making a reservation. Was fun to try the cocktail flight. Wait staff is 10/10

  • Review 13 (2023-10-29 - Rating: 5)

Great lunch at red rooster. Casual but welcoming service. Given a warm weekend in October we sat on the cosy terrace. The food was delicious, amazing cornbread, grits and chicken and waffle. All that super reasonably priced. Cocktail were quite tasting and well balanced.

  • Review 14 (2024-10-14 - Rating: 5)

We had the brunch with a gospel choir. It was very good. Both the buffet and the music were outstanding! I would definitely recommend this gospel-brunch!

  • Review 15 (2024-04-06 - Rating: 5)

Definitely one of the best chicken and waffles you can get, and just about the crispiest fried chicken I think I’ve ever had. The vibes are always great here, and sometimes they have events here during their dinner service. Reservations are recommended for dinner, but lunch times are usually pretty open.

  • Review 16 (2024-03-14 - Rating: 4)

We ordered wild chicken wings, yard bird by the piece, mac n greens and corn bread. The wings were very tasty and their spicy wild sauce was nicely flavorful. The yard bird, on the other hand, had a mild kick to its batter. These were huge chicken pieces, so huge the inside did not get enough flavor. For my taste, the corn bread was little dry.

Our visit here started with our reservations being at a different restaurant. The hostess was understanding and quickly found us a table in an already busy restaurant. The atmosphere was electric, inviting, and comfortable. The food was phenomenal. Our waiter Amferny (?) went above and beyond with recommendations and even a special treat to celebrate our honeymoon. We were only in town for a couple of days and this experience exceeded our expectations. My husband has always wanted to eat at one of Marcuss restaurants, so thank you for making this dream come true!

  • Review 18 (2024-05-17 - Rating: 4)

I visited here during NY restaurant week in January. I chose the set menu for $30 and it was worth it.- Sweet potato coconut soup: delicious, warm & hearty bowl of soup. It was a sweeter kind of soup and super creamy.- Corn bread: deliciousssss! I had to fight with my kid for it. It was fluffy, soft, and so tasty!- Yardbird fried chicken: very crispy chicken that my kid fight me for the crunchy skins! The meat was juicy and flavorful. The mashed potato was good: flavorful & smooth. The collard greens were tasty.I wish that the service would have been better. Our server didn’t check on us and it took a long time for the entree to come after I finished my appetizer. However, I would come back for all the items I tried above!

  • Review 19 (2023-07-26 - Rating: 4)

This place is really dope. The environment is nice. The vibe is there. The people are amazing. The staff is great but the food I believe is not the best in comparison to other place in the area.Definitely a good time and a good place to enjoy with friends. I would definitely go back and try more things on the menu but I’m not in a rush. 😅

  • Review 20 (2024-01-26 - Rating: 5)

We dine at the Red Rooster whenever we visit NYC. The menu is creative and unique. Every dish we have tried has been wonderfully prepared and delicious. The staff are polite, knowledgeable and efficient. During our last visit a live jazz trio entertained the diners. The Jerked Salmon Bowl and Fried Catfish are both really nice.

  • Review 21 (2024-01-08 - Rating: 5)

Love love love Red Rooster! The quality went down briefly after Covid but seems they’re back. It’s a neighborhood staple, love bringing friends from out of town.Great food great service. The only complaint for the brunch was that the cornbread and gravy only had one corn bread!! Luckily our server gave us extra. Thank you!!

  • Review 22 (2024-05-31 - Rating: 5)

The corn bread and tomato butter was a surprise for me. Never heard of tomato 🍅 butter! 😬 oh! I enjoyed it very much. The drinks the bartender Yohan made me ŵere also very yummy and interesting. I tried 2 new things I never had and loved it!I love this is Im Harlem. There was live groovy music 🎶 and I also enjoyed that with the tomato butter and yummy drinks. Made my night before I head out back to my neighborhood! Thank you for a wonderful meal!Allez cuisine pour moi encore!A la proclaimed! Bientot!

  • Review 23 (2024-11-27 - Rating: 5)

We came for dinner and had excellent service and food. We have been to the Miami location, and this was our first time here. The hostess was quick and friendly and our waitress Tiara was very helpful and kind. She gave us an overview of the menu and recommendations. She helped us customize our plates and it came out beautifully. We had the lobster roll, garlic mash, mac & greens, and smash burger— highly recommend all of them. This restaurant is clean, cozy, and tasty! Thank you Tiara and the rest of the staff for the nice experience.

  • Review 24 (2024-10-13 - Rating: 5)

As a vegetarian, I had a very tasty brunch- had the sweet potato soup and Mac and green. Both were delicious and pretty unique. Also the corn bread, which was nothing special but still very good. Nice ambiance, very busy, with a nice jazz musician. The bar is really nice too.

  • Review 25 (2023-08-27 - Rating: 4)

I came here with friends. We had the chicken tower with the macaroni and cheese, heirloom tomatoes, and asparagus. The 20-piece chicken tower is a great value if you are going with maybe 6 people who like fried chicken because the pieces are large and it also comes with sides. The fried chicken was generally crispy and moist. The honey and hot sauce went well on it. I wish the restaurant made its own hot honey. The heirloom tomatoes had more water or sauce than I would have liked. The macaroni and greens were very popular. The asparagus is a lighter side option. There is indoor and outdoor seating.

  • Review 26 (2022-05-03 - Rating: 5)

Really amazing food, we had such a variety and seasoning and taste were always on point. I even had the devils egg around afternoon, which I dont like eating eggs after 12 and they were amazing, so soft and just melt in your mouth. ALL the food was 10/10, the freshness of it 10/10, the flavor of it 10/10 the drinks even non-alcoholic ones were 10/10, the service was 10/10, the place itself is so unique, so much to look at and learn 10/10, the ambience 10/10 its a great experience overall, great being short adjective to describe it.The herbs they use on cocktails or non alcoholic beverages they grow right there, you can see them and everything is just so fresh. So much more good things, great things to say about this place. HUGE variety of food, drinks and even nice tea and honey! If you are in the area, even visiting is a spot you definitely have to go, I will even dare to say just separate a day to go there and enjoy!!!

  • Review 27 (2022-12-29 - Rating: 5)

Good food! Good People! My daughter took me to Red Rooster in Harlem for a birthday lunch about two weeks ago. I loved the atmosphere. The service was excellent, and the menu included delicious, trendy versions of my favorite soul foods. My daughter had Pan Fried Catfish. I had the Spicy Jerk Salmon Bowl. The salmon was seasoned just right and served on a bed of grains, tomatoes & cucumbers. I also had the Mac & Greens side dish. Everything was fabulous!

  • Review 28 (2023-12-17 - Rating: 5)

FABULOUS! Order carefully because the chicken pieces are huge. I don’t think I’ve ever ever seen a chicken thigh that hefty but I was here for it because that chicken is delicious. We couldn’t decide if the appetizer chicken wings were just as good or slightly even better. I was so blown away by the mac & cheese, it’s like nothing I’ve ever had before and tastes of delicious Parmesan. Almost like an Italian classic, you’ve never heard of, but will never forget. We did not have enough room for dessert and that was a bummer. You could skip the salad and the side of asparagus, didn’t need them, there was collard greens in the mac & cheese anyway lol. The cocktails are great, and our server was very lovely. We had the treat of having live music this night, and it really added to the already festive atmosphere. That sink water really is HOT IYKYK lol.

  • Review 29 (2023-06-16 - Rating: 5)

Going to Apollo Theatre? Then go to the Red Rooster for a quick bite and a cocktail (you must try!! So good!!) Service is great, friendly and helpful. Dinner is pushed out quickly for you. Here it’s all about comfort food, southern / carribean style. And man they sure know what is good and tasty! Loved the chicken and fries. And the chicken and waffle. So fresh! You’ll definitely be okay here!! Recommendable.

  • Review 30 (2023-06-06 - Rating: 5)

I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience at Red Rooster! Staff was excellent. Our waitress was amazing. Drinks were good. Food was different but delicious. Bar area was a whole vibe. Loved the interior decor. Definitely will be back

  • Review 31 (2024-09-29 - Rating: 5)

Eat somewhere else first and then hang out here. I tried a few times to force myself to like the food, but....I cannot. The food is meant to satisfy foreigners who have no comparisons to anything else. The fried chicken looks dry and. it is. The food is straight up bland. The drinks, live music and service are ALL you should enjoy here. Eat at The Blvd on 116th by the C train; really GREAT Soul Food, just always packed but worth the wait. Eat here 1st and then head to Rooster for drinks and entertainment. The Blvd is a different type of crowd that you need to be prepared for, but, always great food!

  • Review 32 (2024-10-27 - Rating: 5)

Great location. We accidentally arrived at the Red Rooster and I saw that it had good reviews. So we stopped for lunch. It was great. Food was good and so were the beverages. The waiters were lovely. Arriving home I found that it was even recommended in my travel advisor.

  • Review 33 (2024-11-29 - Rating: 4)

Great food and cocktails.I recommend the garlic mash and the chicken. The Black Manhattan is amazing.Dined on Thanksgiving at the bar.4 stars just because of the doorman:They have 2 doors at the entry, forming a vestibule. However, the doorman often keeps both doors open, allowing a cold blast of air to enter. This is uncomfortable for the patrons sitting at the bar nearby the entrance

  • Review 34 (2023-05-18 - Rating: 4)

Great place on all levels. We had Mango Street and Harlem Stoner for cocktails. Giod taste and amount of liquor. Our group had the Shrimp & Grits, Catfish, and Jerk Salmon Bowl. All were well prepared and tasty. Our server was attentive, polite, and knowledgeable (and nice on the eyes - lol). Vibe was cool with DJ just setting up, but mixing a new happy hour mix. Overall, I have a great experience and am glad we came.

  • Review 35 (2023-07-16 - Rating: 5)

At the moment with only 2 locations in Miami and New York. I visit the Harlem location. It’s a full bar restaurant that offers indoor and outdoor seating with delivery and takeout. It has two floors and the main Dining room is on the first floor and a private room in the downstairs for parties. They offer an option to have a gospel brunch. You will pay an extra fee and it will have a fixed menu. The server recommended a bunch of popular appetizers and entrées. So we went with what he said. They have a little greenhouse inside the restaurant so they could grow their own plants to spice up the drinks. They had good music going on, and they even had a live band.

  • Review 36 (2024-06-09 - Rating: 5)

Ceviche with plantains and grilled romaine was excellent (see photo). And the chicken, of course. Roasted cauliflower ‘looked’ good, but was very bland. Jazz band added to an already great jibe.

  • Review 37 (2023-08-18 - Rating: 4)

This was my first time visiting, and I LOVED the food. Everything I tried was delicious. The mac and greens were a combination I never thought would work, but it was DELECTABLE! I cleaned my plate!! The deviled eggs and cornbread were amazing as well. The location was great, and I loved the decor within the restaurant. However, it seemed like the air conditioning wasnt working. Our table was sweating the entire time. Also, our server was AWFUL. It took her 10 minutes to greet our table and take our order of drinks and appetizers. We then had to flag her down to place our entrée order. Then again, to get a drink refill. She put the drink order in wrong and then rolled her eyes when the food runner notified her of it. I would have given fewer stars if it wasnt for the manager who refilled our waters and brought us plates when we couldnt find her.

  • Review 38 (2022-09-28 - Rating: 5)

Such a great restaurant with delicious food! Ordered the chicken sandwich for myself, and split the asparagus, fries, and tomatoes with friends. Chicken sandwich was crispy and flavorful and the fries were never-ending! The space is huge both inside and out. Service was great - we will definitely be back. Also they seem to have opened a red rooster 2 go right next door specifically for take out orders!

  • Review 39 (2024-06-19 - Rating: 5)

Red Rooster has been a neighborhood staple for quite some time. A Harlem landmark, Marcus and team have made this place not only an establishment but a local must-see when you come uptown. The reason for this is the consistent good food, vibe and service. Whether a live singer or DJ, the vibes are always strong here.

  • Review 40 (2024-03-13 - Rating: 5)

Each time I visit NYC, stopping by Red Rooster Harlem is an absolute must for me, a tradition steeped in love and appreciation. The vibe here is unmatched; it’s laid-back yet grown, with a hint of sexy, but the invitation is clear: come as you are because everyone is welcome. The walls are adorned with paintings that narrate our collective story, adding depth and character to an already captivating environment. Not to mention, the space is super clean and impeccably managed, reflecting their commitment to excellence. The staff at Red Rooster are the embodiment of warmth and professionalism, making them the most accommodating and pleasant individuals in the entire city. They’re incredibly attentive, ensuring your comfort and satisfaction, yet their presence is never overbearing.During my latest visit, I had the incredible opportunity to enjoy the mesmerizing performances by Nate Lucas All Stars and Ms. Deborah Newsllo. The blend of live music with a delectable meal truly elevates the dining experience to new heights. My culinary adventure included indulging in all my favorites: the greens, tomatoes, chicken wings, and the irresistibly good cornbread. After navigating the hustle and bustle of the city, a Lemon Drop cocktail was the perfect choice to transition into a relaxing evening, setting just the right vibe.Red Rooster isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a beautiful space brimming with even more beautiful souls. The attention to detail and the genuine care in every aspect of the experience are palpable. To let you know just how much I adore this place, consider this: I travel all the way from Nashville, Tennessee, and always stay in Times Square. Despite the distance, Red Rooster Harlem is always worth the journey. It truly is Harlem’s best-kept secret, a gem that shines brightly in the heart of the city, and a testament to the magic that happens when a place genuinely welcomes and celebrates everyone who walks through its doors.

  • Review 41 (2024-09-25 - Rating: 4)

A good amount of history with this place. Great service and excellent Harlem foods. Best chicken and waffles Ive had before. A little bit on the pricey side but its worth a try. Theres gospel downstairs on Sundays but its separate and its around $70 buffet style.

  • Review 42 (2025-01-04 - Rating: 5)

Vibes here were amazing. They got a live band and all playing! I was here soley for the fried chicken based on the worth it buzzfeed video. Fried chicken is good but sylvias edges them out slightly. The devilish egg is so good though... would be back to try other dishes

  • Review 43 (2023-09-26 - Rating: 5)

I had a last minute lunch at Red Rooster on a Tuesday afternoon. The wait staff got us right in, seated and served. The food exceeded expectations as did the service and dining room. Definitely a go to when dining in Harlem.

  • Review 44 (2023-09-12 - Rating: 4)

Make a reservation to come here! Came on a Monday night and was lucky to find two seats at the bar. Live band - fantastic. I had the bucatini Piccadilly- one small bite of lobster, 3 pieces of crab and about 5 shrimp. Th taste of the food was good although I felt my cholesterol might have spiked due to all the butter it was soaking in . The chicken by the piece was ok I had to turn on my flashlight to make sure it was fully cooked ( which it was) cause that chicken came out quick - had a thigh as an appetizer. The uptown guacamole and chicken wings were great and would recommend. Over all its a great little place for a date night. I was also told by the bartender they have a great Sunday brunch- definitely book way in advance as they are usually to capacity! Hope this helps !

  • Review 45 (2022-10-10 - Rating: 4)

The crispy bird sandwich was fantastic, as were the fries. Juicy, crispy, great flavor. The bun was warm and lightly toasted. Perfection. The grits were good but would’ve been better with some cheese, garlic, green onion, and/or bacon. It was on the plain side, and the shrimp were over cooked, maybe previously frozen?Service at the bar was indifferent. We weren’t offered a choice of side with the crispy bird sandwich — waitress didn’t bother asking. Which is fine, but at the end she chose 20% tip for us on the payment device and gave us only the option of signing, not choosing the tip. Is that even allowed? Also the bar area smelled foul — of rotting spilled milk, maybe? Needs a good cleaning!

Celebrating a birthday and happy I chose this establishment. Accommodated for the seat change wanted. I want to the say the tall man walking around in the suit is the manager because he makes sure EVERYONE is happy and feeling welcomed. I have experienced service like this in sometime. The young people working hear are a breathe of fresh air with how polite they are and making sure customer service is given. The atmosphere is such a mixture of people and I love it. The food, drinks, music and people is just thumbs up. I did not get to see the downstairs lounge area but hopefully next time.

Having an Awesome time her at Red Rooster. The food is great and so is the music , great vibes. However I was just served an amazing Old Fashion from the bartender “Sam” it was the best since I’ve been here in NYC and yes I know my old fashion and she knew her assignment and did an amazing job. Sam I’ll see you the next time I’m in the city.

We are fans of Iron Chef and are interested in visiting restaurants run by the casting chefs. Red Rooster Harlem is one of these and is owned by Marcus Samuelsson. The interior is modern, cool and trendy with cozy ambiance & traditional decorations. Their service was pretty friendly, attentive and served everything quickly. We got Deviled Eggs, Bucatini Piccadilly and 2 pieces of Hot Honey Yardbird (drum stick & thigh) to share with a group of two from their limited menu. The portion was great with a reasonable price.Everything was impressively delicious, especially the deviled egg which was creamy, rich and flavorful. The fried chicken was also decent since its juicy and tender with crispy layer.

  • Review 49 (2023-09-15 - Rating: 5)

BEST food experience I have in Harlem! Chicken is moist but extraordinary crunchy, Shrimp ceviche is mouthwatering sour and fresh, friendly service and great vibe.

  • Review 50 (2019-05-27 - Rating: 5)

My new favorite restaurant! We ate at Red Rooster for the first time and it was as advertised. The service was great and the food was excellent. We had the Jerk chicken and the Honey Yardbird, both were flavorful and cook to perfection. The scallops appetizer was beyond excellent. We will visit again.

Food: impecable. Service: fantastic. Drinks: exquisite. This past weekend I was there with an old friend. We had appetizers, entrees, sides and desert. From the minute we sat to the minute we left, not only was my palate fully engrossed in the delectable delights I tasted, but I truly enjoyed the environment and the mood. The music was loud enough to be heard but quiet enough to have a conversation without having to yell. Overall, I can’t say enough good things. Highly recommend!

  • Review 52 (2019-03-03 - Rating: 5)

A great place for Sunday Brunch - though rapidly gets busy. We snuck into a table for four with virtually no wait at 11:15, but no guarantee this will work for you. Great jazz, decent food, friendly service and a wonderful atmosphere.Theres agood variety of things on the menu - hearty food with the occasional nice twist. Enjoy!

  • Review 53 (2023-12-29 - Rating: 5)

We loved absolutely everything on our recent Sunday brunch visit to Red Rooster. The room is vibrant and spacious, and our large & comfy red booth gave us a fantastic view of the space. It was a week before Christmas and the restaurant was busy but the service was excellent. Everything we ate was incredible but heads up - servings are huge! My sweet potato soup was so velvety, and the jerk cauliflower was delicious. The mac&greens was out of this world. A wonderful jazz trio played and they were not too loud that you couldnt have a conversation. I had a yes chef cocktail and it was superb. A good mixologist is worth their weight in gold. Make sure you check out the toilets which are decorated with a mix of hip hop and arty touches. Highly recommend.

  • Review 54 (2024-08-16 - Rating: 5)

Loved the fried chicken and cornbread. The collard greens were a bit too sweet. I prefer just the greens. Love the environment and service.

  • Review 55 (2024-09-15 - Rating: 4)

I ordered the devil eggs, a chicken thigh, and Mac and greens. Overall solid experience but nothing to write home about. The portions for the price are very fair. It wasn’t good enough for me to not want to share with people so that’s exactly what I did. The restaurant and atmosphere were perfect. I will not be going out my way to eat there again but if that’s where my friends or a special someone wanted to go I wouldn’t oppose it. One day I will try their other menu items.

The restaurant really lives up to its name. I have always wanted to come here and very glad I did. Came for a birthday party of 7 people. The service was top notch, everyone was friendly and food and drinks came out quick, not any of the long waiting. And the food was amazing. The cornbread alone is something Ive never seen before, so different, yet so delicious. I had the shrimp and grits and they were the best Ive ever had. For dessert the doughnut is a must try, will not be disappointed.

I have never been to Harlem before, but thanks to the Les Dames dEscoffier conference this year not only did I make it to Harlem, but I am ready to move there! We had a private brunch downstairs at Ginnys Supper Club, and it was the perfect ending to a perfect trip. I want to bring all of the staff back to Dallas, and hopefully they can bring some of their soul searching recipes with them. Such a gracious group - they felt like family the minute we went inside. Having Sing Harlem share just inches from us was life changing. I cant wait to go back and to learn more.

Wow what a cool place! The ambiance is awesome with some nice subdued red lights, live jazzy type tunes, and a nice sound level. Would imagine this would be a great place for a date.Service was amazing. Our server’s suggestions were spot on! Not to mention they were insanely quick and efficient!

This was a really great experience. Staff was super kind and attentive. Food was served to us in a timely manner. We made a reservation, got there on time and was seated immediately. Clean, nice decor, a little tight but not bad. Bright, love dj was cool. Music wasn’t too loud where we couldn’t talk. We got crab cakes, chicken sandwiches with fries and Mac and greens. The drinks we got were the Harlem NY sour (drink of the week) and the Harlem stoner, both delicious.Portions were generous. Everything was good.I really loved it here and will comeBack to try more. 150% recommend

Went to celebrate my best friends husbands birthday 🎉 and it was a great choice in choosing to eat here. The atmosphere, decor, music and then the food☺️ I had the chicken and waffles which was the bomb. When ever in new York this is a restaurant you must stop by.

  • Review 62 (2021-03-26 - Rating: 5)

Wow, what a great place. The outside is normal and unassuming. The greeter was very friendly, polite and informative about Covid policies, then quickly got us our tables. This is not high end cuisine, this is normal food cooked , oooh so well. This is the best friend chicken I ever tasted. The large tray will feed six people no problem, the sides are next level delicious. The sauces are great, Hot 🔥, honey, BBQ, YUM, YUM. The choice of decoration is eclectic, yet very cool and well put together. Some serious thought was put into the decor, this wasnt slapped together on the fly... The bathrooms were clean. The waiter was attentive accurate and working his A.. off. I love the Red Rooster and I will be back whenever I can, I highly recommend this restaurant. Casual clothing but the restaurant feels first class. Man the Rum Chocolate cake, I dont want to describe it, you need to taste this yourself, this much care to create this deliciousness should be enjoyed as a personal experience.

  • Review 63 (2022-07-24 - Rating: 5)

The 3 of us were here celebrating our birthdays. We ordered charred cauliflower, pan fried catfish, mac & greens, uptown guac, cornbread, collard greens, and crab cake. Everything was so flavorful. Our server was very attentive & check on us often. He brought out salted carmel donuts with a candle for our birthdays. Thank you for making our birthdays extra special. We will definitely eat here again next time we’re in town!

Ok this place is a must go. The atmosphere is great, at sundays they have live jazz and it’s amazing for both sitting and dining or just grabbing a drink on the bar. The cornbread is delicious and their spicy chicken is definitely worth trying. It’s not a cheap restaurant though but really worth it.

  • Review 65 (2023-03-27 - Rating: 4)

My first four star review. Food. Mid. But vibes. Immaculate. Drinks. Incredible. The performers on weekdays are highly entertaining. I be wanting to give them all the cash I got in my wallet as tip lolI’ve tried the fried chicken. Catfish. Burger. Wings. It’s good. But not as amazing as I’d hope an Iron Chef Marcus Samuelsson food to be. In particular. Why is the fried chicken breading so grainy, like bruh, where they do that at. Anyways, go for the vibes.

  • Review 66 (2018-10-13 - Rating: 4)

The atmosphere and the live music were amazing it made it quite a unique experience. I found the drinks at some interesting pairings and were quite savory and enjoyable. The food was good, the catfish dish was not what we expected. The crab cakes we very good. Some of the servings are modest. We will return to experience the atmosphere again and the try the salmon dish which they were out of that night. It was nice to see the owner on site. We would recomend making it a stop if your in new york.

Took wifey back to this legendary restaurant in Harlem (it had been 7 years since we were there last). The staff was very friendly and the food came quick.Ill start with the appetizers: the Wild Wild Wings were thoroughly cooked and had a nice peppery kick to them..yet scrumptious. The Sweet Potato Coconut Soup was hands down..the BEST soup we have ever had (everything worked with this soup...ginger, mushrooms, etc.). The Crab Cake with the collard slaw was also delicious! As for the entrees, wifey said that her Spicy Jerk Salmon Bowl was seasoned very well. My Pan Fried Catfish was alright....it was pretty salty. Next time I will try the Lenox Smash Burger.Out of the three drinks that we had..the Roosterlada (banana & coconut rum, lime, homemade orgeat, pineapple) was HANDS DOWN memorable. The other two were just ok...Harlem Mule & Pink Lady.We will be back solely for the Sweet Potato Coconut Soup, Crab Cake and Roosterlada!

1st time visiting the restaurant while on an anniversary trip to NYC. The food my husband and I had was amazing!!! The cat fish was delicious, the cornbread was amazing, the Bucatini Piccadilly was delicious. The service was great. Our waiter Joshua was great. The collard greens taste better than mine, my late grandmother and mother in law’s and all of us can make some banging greens!!! We ordered dessert to go back to MD with us. Will definitely go back on our next trip to New York.

  • Review 71 (2024-12-09 - Rating: 5)

Phenomenal food, beautiful aesthetically pleasing restaurant, wonderful staff and amazing live music! The restaurant transported you to an elegant supper club from the Harlem Renaissance! Love the exquisite black art work throughout the restaurant. My family and I enjoyed Sunday brunch! We had the cheddar cheese omelette, jerk salmon bowl, bucantini picadilly, and jerk bbq cauliflower as the entrees. All was great! We also especially enjoyed the wild wild wings!! Shoutout to the hostess, Z, our waiter Dane and the phenomenal singer on Sunday, December 8 who serenaded my sister for her birthday!

  • Review 72 (2024-10-11 - Rating: 5)

Easily the best food Ive had in Harlem and the cocktails are equally terrific. Just effusive praise all around.

  • Review 73 (2022-09-05 - Rating: 5)

This was the best corn bread I had in my life. Im not sure what they feed the chickens but the drum sticks were huge and meaty. They were out of thighs. The breast piece was a bit dry ... Stick with the other options. Collard Greens and roasted tomatoes were excellent. Service was top notch as was the Sunday night jazz.

  • Review 74 (2024-10-27 - Rating: 5)

The food was delicious. Everything was freshly made. We were party of 4 and had no wait. We enjoyed the atmosphere and when were back in Harlem, New York City we will be back.

  • Review 75 (2023-01-17 - Rating: 5)

My first Red Rooster experience was truly sensational. The meal (shrimp and grits with a side of collards) had me grinning ear to ear. The grits were amazingly creamy and flavorful, I could eat them forever. The collard greens had tremendous taste and were a perfect accompaniment. The restaurant had live music on this Monday night and it was a group of singers rotating who would sing lead and they just kept outdoing each other it was a joy to watch. Everyone in the restaurant had their cameras out to catch the performances.I couldn’t resist capping the visit with some apple pie, which was served with a delicious vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. I will make it a point to come back and bring friends when I am in NYC in the future.

  • Review 76 (2023-11-24 - Rating: 5)

Flew into NYC today and it’s my first time staying in Harlem and it hasn’t disappointed. Red Rooster was filled with music, energy, and holiday vibes. Kudos to the front of house and kitchen for keeping things moving along. Cocktails were delicious. My favourite dish was the cornbread, followed closely by the yardbird and mac and greens. Rolled myself back to my hotel, satisfied and with leftovers!

  • Review 77 (2023-01-09 - Rating: 5)

This place is top tier soul food dining without a doubt! Im BLACK black which means Ive been eating collard greens a really long time from many different chefs and these were hands down the VERY BEST collards Ive ever tasted! Food, service, and atmosphere are all on point at the Red Rooster.

  • Review 78 (2022-04-16 - Rating: 5)

Wow. So good!My boyfriend and I visited Red Rooster after hearing all the good reviews on Instagram and Facebook. And, they did not disappoint. The restaurant is in the heart of Harlem, not far from Sylvia’s (which is another amazing spot in the area). They have a DJ, outdoor seating, and great service. We ordered the yardbird, two drinks, cornbread, cheesy grits, and the macaroni + greens bake (I was doubtful, but it was one of the best items we ate — TRY IT). Everything was so flavorful, and they were all soul food dishes, with modern twists. Our meal was about $40 per person.I’ll be back!!!

  • Review 79 (2019-01-28 - Rating: 4)

Stopped in for brunch on a Saturday with some friends. The service from the staff was very professional, friendly and cordial. The food was fantastic, and I went in with high expectations. Im only giving 4 stars because our table was crammed in like a sardine and servers and other diners kept bumping into us while we were eating. It was more than a little distracting.

  • Review 80 (2022-12-06 - Rating: 5)

This place was amazing! I came here for lunch before my flight back to London and the vibe was great. They had a DJ playing music and the music was great on top of that it had such a lively evening vibe even in the afternoon. Our waitress was great, she really made sure we had everything we needed and gave great recommendations I’m sorry I didn’t get her name. Now the food was so damn tasty even the simple fries were delicious, I couldn’t get enough. The cornbread was also really good. Long story short next time I’m in NYC I’m coming back here for sure! 😍🤤

  • Review 81 (2024-07-09 - Rating: 5)

The food was absolutely delicious. The shrimp and grits were creamy and tasty, while the ceviche and Caesar salad made for a delightful and unusual combination. The colorful walls and refined decor added to the overall wonderful dining experience, and all the staff were pleasant and attentive.

Thank you for everything! We ate the deviled eggs, cornbread, mac n greens, fried yard bird, and country fried breakfast. Absolute superb😋😋😋

Lets get straight to the point - the grits here are to die for. They have great flavor and are nice and buttery. All the other food is great as well, especially the chicken and seafood. The apple pie is definitely a great dessert option to finish it off. And to complete the experience, the restaurant has a great vibe especially with the live band playing.

  • Review 85 (2024-11-02 - Rating: 5)

Went here for the Sunday Jazz dinner and were seated in the back near the food prep area so we could see the food being made and coming out. So much good stuff. I had the bucatini Piccadilly, a mix of seafood and pasta, my wife had the jerk BBQ cauliflower, and we shared an order of Mac and cheese with collard greens.I tired the the flock flight and followed up with a Garveys punch. The Garveys punch is sorell based and so good. The musicians were great and played so many different songs, at times the entire place seemed to be singing along and the energy was just the best.

  • Review 86 (2023-03-02 - Rating: 5)

Get the chicken and waffles! Never been a super fan of the dish other places, but wowza the chicken was moist with perfect breading and the waffle was Devine. Loved it 😍! Also got the Mac and cheese, which too was fantastic.

  • Review 87 (2019-06-27 - Rating: 5)

I came in for lunch as a walk-in but I was quite early and the restaurant filled quickly. The food was excellent, the small set of dishes is an indication of how high quality they are. The service was just barely short of silver service. I was always attended to when required.

The Grilled Caesar & Shrimp Ceviche and the Yardbird Hot Honey chicken very good, thePan Fried Catfish with stewed black-eyed peas, cucumber & pickled onion salad was good needed a little bit of that house hot sauce to put it in the place i like 😋 You will enjoy the drinks as well, go ahead and order the large thank me later... the wait staff was very pleasant and personable. Would definitely go again

Went for a Sunday dinner and ambiance was amazing. I got the opportunity to eat while the live jazz band was playing and they were awesome. I decided to try something new so I ordered the catfish and I am now a catfish fan to say the least! The food was well seasoned and tasted great! The service was great, didn’t have to wait to be seated and after being seated they came over to check on the table often! The crew was so nice and welcoming! 10/10 would recommend and will revisit!

Amazingly unique flavors that make for a truly memorable dining experience. The wings were tasty and the mac and cheese was out of this world. Do yourself a favor and add the lobster! The chicken was also incredible with a rub unlike anything I had had before. I would like to try everything on the menu!

Enjoyed a late brunch here at 1p. There werent any tables, the wait was an hour and 20 minutes. But we were able to find a bar seat and got relatively lucky. The food was good, service was fine, they were super busy. The nails came out really quickly. Portions were on the larger side. Great vibe and mix of people inside

So So So So Good! First, lets talk ATMOSPHERE. The beautiful outdoor seating on a Saturday morning in the hot summer sun is perfectly set up. The inside is layered with African prints, beautiful art and the many pictures and autographs from celebrities, even a Biggie jersey hangs from the walls in a frame. Its bright and welcoming. I felt very much at home. Now for the experience, well you tell me. I made a reservation here for a brunch date on a Saturday for 1130. We were a bit late, so I thought it would be a good idea if I got us a table while my date looked for parking. Although we had a reservation they wouldnt let me sit without him.(So heads up = 🗣ARRIVE WITH YOUR WHOLE PARTY) When he did join me, we were seated immediatly. The waitress came over in ample time and greeted us with water and a smile. For drinks we ordered Pink Sunrise and Garvey Punch(wine glass) Both were refreshing and delicious. To start we had the Chicken and Waffles. A warning, it is appetizer size so it was a bit small. I wouldnt suggest sharing it. Nonetheless, It was flavorful. A bit of spice in the waffle, perfectly seasoned and tender chicken, and no maple needed. It was moist all over. Melted right in our mouths. We both loved it. For our main course, we both got Miss Bs Biscuits and Gravy! 2 sunny side up eggs placed delicately over 2 butter biscuits with chicken baked in the center sitting in a mushroom gravy. My mouth is watering as I type this. It was sooooo friggin good. All in all, we had a great experience. We wanted the Deviled Eggs, Mac & Greens and French toast but we were stuffed. So well just have to try it next time. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, Cuisine was exceptional and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I would definitely come back and the way my date was raving, Im sure the feeling is mutual.P.S. - Prices are reasonable. Two Alcoholic Beverages, an appetizer and two main courses ran up to about $100.

Christmas dinner and it was amazing. Fantastic food, amazing atmosphere, friendly staff, live DJ was outstanding. Definitely want to go back to try more cocktails and menu items. Highly highly recommend!

  • Review 95 (2024-10-17 - Rating: 4)

The tin plated ceiling and the interior makes this place assthetically pleasing. The crispy bird sandwich lunch special (while not as flavorful as I was expecting) came in large portions so it would be good to come here with an empty stomach. While the service was friendly it was a little slower than what Im used to (however it could be the large number of patrons present).

  • Review 96 (2021-06-25 - Rating: 4)

Delicious fried chicken! Different seasoning style than your typical southern fried chicken, but so delicious. We ordered the Chicken Tower and it came with 3 amazing sides. Perfect for 5-6 people

  • Review 97 (2024-07-24 - Rating: 5)

Went to Red Roosters today and we ordered from the restaurant week menu. The sangria was great and we both enjoyed our first course. I had the Farmers Remix Salad and my husband the Grilled Cesar and Shrimp Ceviche, both were very good. Our entrees were Pan Fried catfish with black eyed peas and Yardbird Fried chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and collards. Everything was great but the chicken was a little overcooked . Would definitely go back and try the rest of the many offerings. Our waitress was nice and not too busy at lunch time.

  • Review 98 (2024-05-11 - Rating: 4)

Fried chicken fell short of my high expectations for this place. Battery was good and on the sweeter side, but over fried and dry on the inside even for Thigh and Drumstick of the yard bird.

  • Review 99 (2024-10-06 - Rating: 5)

We had such a great time at Red Rooster. Traditional Southern cooking but elevated in the flavors and extras. Loved the deviled eggs and the crispy chicken sandwich, as well as the shrimp and grits.

  • Review 100 (2020-03-02 - Rating: 4)

My friend and I arrived at Red Rooster, expecting to wait an hour or so, since we didn’t have a reservation! But nope...maybe 15 minutes, TOPS! The place was jam packed with standing room only. However, speaking and being kind can take you a long way. We were seated quickly and our order was taken even quicker. The atmosphere was nice with a DJ on the 1s and 2s. But the main attraction was the Brussels sprouts. We had brussel sprouts, chicken wings, Mac n cheese and crab cakes! Literally everything was SUPERB!!!!! The only reason that I’m not rating 5 stars is because they ran out out of Brussel sprouts! Red Rooster, you keep me coming back😉

  • Review 101 (2024-07-31 - Rating: 5)

I had the Jerk Salmon bowl and it was so good! The food was flavorful and the salmon was crispy. My server was also really kind and attentive. He made sure my water was continuously filled and came to clear plates quickly. I got the apple pie with vanilla ice cream for desert per his recommendation and it was nice and warm. 10/10!! Also there was live music which added great energy to the place. I think the band comes every Tuesday and Thursday. Good vibes and would definitely come again.

  • Review 102 (2022-04-16 - Rating: 5)

Celebrating my birthday at the Red Rooster was the best decision ever! Upon entering the Red Rooster, we learned quickly you have to have a reservation in order to be seated as this establishment is very small. We sat at the bar which was the best seat in my opinion. I was able to see the band, interact with the bartenders and meet new people. Our bartender was so friendly and accommodating the entire time. He made sure we did not need for anything. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. Met a lot of great people making lifetime relationships. The food...OMG!! I ordered the catfish, black eyed peas, greens, cornbread and deviled eggs. Yall have to eat here. You wont regret it. The bartender surprised me with a birthday treat. Youre the best! Thank you for making my birthday so special. 🥰

The employees where very very nice and presentable. I definitely will return here to take in some more of the items on the menu. The Harlem stoner is now the drink of my choice.

  • Review 108 (2018-09-01 - Rating: 5)

We spent our last evening in NY here. Booked thru OpenTable, really easy. We had the Lenox burger and the Seafood Festival Jambalaya (says for 2 but as our friendly waitress pointed out, can easily serve 3 or 4) 😁 Food was very tasteful. Great atmosphere. Music was fab, you just cant keep sitting still, haha. A bit loud at our end (we had the table outside under the speakers so we got the full blast). As we couldnt get another table our waitress got it turned down a bit which was much appreciated 👍 Can definitely recommend it. The bar below looked groovy as well. On the list for next time!

Really great food and an amazing aesthetic! The live music was also great. The drawbacks were that it was quite loud despite being on the opposite end of the restaurant from the band and it was pretty expensive. Nonetheless, I would probably come back.

You don’t need encouragement to come to Red Rooster - I bet it’s already on your list. This quintessential Harlem restaurant lives up to the hype in both ambience and food quality and you need to come here ASAP.Make a reservation, it gets very crowded. Split a pitcher (or two) of the Garvey Punch. Get the chicken and waffles. Have the best dinner you’ve ever had.

  • Review 114 (2017-11-19 - Rating: 5)

The Red Rooster is a crowded place for Saturday brunch, but the hostess graciously explained that I could sit at a six seat bar table that only had one couple dining. The service was first rate, and the Shrimp and Grits were delectable. Having experienced that item from Louisiana multiple times, I can say it competes well. I was warned that it was spicy, but to a Cajun, that doesnt mean much, and it was perfectly tasty.

  • Review 115 (2022-01-25 - Rating: 4)

I LOVE the feel and vibe of Harlem. The location is perfect! The restaurant had so much character and charm. Artwork on all the walls even the restrooms. Staff is very friendly and helpful A-1 service! Food and drink presentation was beautiful done. The taste of the food was ok. It wasn’t nasty but it wasn’t what I was expecting.

  • Review 116 (2023-11-23 - Rating: 4)

Usually Red Rooster has delicious food. But the Sunday Brunch menu choices were ho-hum.It gets a 4 because the atmosphere, including live entertainment, were incredible. And service went above and beyond, including a random manager who offered to hang my coat.

This dish gave me chills on the first bite because it was so good!!!!!!! Ive never had something so delicious. Staff were friendly and professional. I am all about customer service and they were very impressive. Compliments to the Chefs. Reasonable pricing and very nice atmosphere. 5 stars are not enough to describe my experience. Its off the charts! Great job!!! Visiting from Southern Cali and we need one of your restaurants in Palm Springs!

Wow. Pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and delicious American style food at Red Rooster. My friend and I shared the Chicken and Waffles for an appetizer. I had the Yardbird entree and my friend had the Cuz Cardini Caesar salad. My Yardbird chicken was tender and fell off the bone after biting into a wonderfully seasoned crispy skin. The vibe is nice and welcoming. I look forward to more visits and trying out other menu items.

  • Review 121 (2024-06-01 - Rating: 5)

Excellent food overall. The chicken/waffle was very good. Nice and crisp and yet, juicy and delicious. My main dish was the fried catfish. I have to say, it was the best I had in over the last 10 years. Nothing comes close and I go down south all the time. Great atmosphere for enjoying your drink and mea with family and friends. Thanks for a great adventure!!

We planned a dinner outing here and took the train from Times Square and ventured on the 7 block walk to the restaurant. First impressions of the restaurant was very underwhelming. Desperately needs a remodel. The red leather seats are so worn they have butt impressions, the flooring is dirty and basic, and the base of the tables need cleaning! Based upon the pricing, and the award winning Chef I expected a much cleaner restaurant. Now for the food: I enjoyed my dish tremendously! I had the Bucatini Piccadilly: this entree is perfection! Generous amount of crab and lobster very flavorful, well seasoned and balanced with vegetables, I would insert the best of the menu! Hubby had the catfish and a side of the fried chicken. Fried Chicken was dry and not that great, he literally said Popeyes is better. The Catfish was served with a plate full of black eyed peas which was delicious but the entree seemed uninteresting without another side and maybe needed less peas, maybe a scoop of garlic mash would make this dish better for the price without having to pay for another side. Music was good but I felt like I was in a local bar rather than a great dining establishment. We didn’t order drinks as they were overpriced for the sizing. Keep mind we are from TX, $17 gets you 16oz of a margarita! Overall, I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to go here if you are staying in Manhattan. Way better options in Times Square and Hells Kitchen. If you are close by with a car a great option.

The food was superb and the dj was on point. A great vibe and incredible drinks. Try the Yes, Chef if you like mojitos. You cant go wrong with the Yard Bird - the skin was so crispy and the chicken was tender and juicy. The King Salmon was served over rainbow chard and had just the right amount of heat from the coconut curry. Helgas Meatballs were a tasty app, as were the deviled eggs, but the Whistle Stop (fried green tomatoes) won the appetizer round.

The Red Rooster is an excellent spot for real soul food. Unique menu items pair ingredients in an artful way. The place can get pretty loud, especially if they are playing music. They have indoor, outdoor, and bar seating available. It is a trendy spot, so I would recommend reservations and come early if possible.

I’ve no words… everything was so good especially the shrimp and grits. Will come back again and again.

Dinner was great. We showed up a few mins early for our reservation and were still able to get seated right away. The food service was very prompt even on a busy day. Our server Joshua was amazing. He was very gracious and made great recommendations.

My favorite restaurant in Harlem! The owner is from iron chef. Food is very delicious! Service could be better.

  • Review 128 (2021-03-07 - Rating: 5)

Had a great night here! The chicken was fantastic - the breading is corn meal based I think so it’s a little different than the flour battered you’re used to. The Cornbread is phenomenal, and the deviled eggs were insanely good. Love the cool vibe, and great service. Def recommend for a night out with friends!

Service was impeccable! Shawn/Sean was a great server. The patron margaritas were great. We had good choices for appetizers. The chicken and waffle and crab cake were delicious. The pomegranate margarita with the prosecco was not what I anticipated and the server and bar tender had no problem recommending an alternative. We did not have a reservation and the hostess did everything he could to seat us quickly and that was beyond impressive for a Saturday night where they were packed.I would only have requested that the DJ turn the music up because he was really playing a great set!!!I will certainly be back.

My fiancé and I went to Red Rooster Friday 10/21/21, the food came quick.Fried chicken was crispy sweet delicious. The Mac with the greens in it was wonderful creamy.I give the meals 5 stars I’m a picky eater,Not often you get good food, good service and a nice mature atmosphere. I truly enjoyed myself I will be going back as long as I get service like that. I will be sending friends and coworkers there as well.

  • Review 133 (2018-04-24 - Rating: 5)

This place has a great vibe. The wait will be long on the weekend. Fried chicken was great. Also get the shrimp and grits. I cleaned the plate. Another good choice would be the blackened Catfish.

  • Review 134 (2019-01-12 - Rating: 4)

Great soul food. Caraway in the batter, Ethiopian spices in the greens, real inventive cooking. All round tasty. 4* because Im not a fried chicken purist - I think this would have had a better batter to meat ratio cooked in 2 portions rather than as a half, but that my opinion only, and how Ill rank for it.

  • Review 135 (2018-07-21 - Rating: 5)

We got the biscuits and gravy, Mac & Greens, and the chicken and waffle. Chicken and Waffle was one of the best, most balanced dishes I’ve ever had. Would definitely recommend!

  • Review 136 (2024-07-06 - Rating: 5)

The vibes, customer service, FOOD, drinks, & music 10/10 I recommend. My waiter Matthew is amazing. Also, try the Mac with the collard greens baked together. Not nasty but not good lmao

Great restaurant. Remarkable decor, fun and friendly atmosphere, excellent dishes and service. It definitely deserves the Michelin star that it has.

  • Review 140 (2024-09-24 - Rating: 5)

Did not disappoint - my team knew the chef reputation (Marcus), but I had no clue. Food was reasonably priced, high quality, service was great and the house band was fantastic!

  • Review 141 (2024-07-23 - Rating: 5)

Loved RR! The staff was extremely polite and very engaging. They were very knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions. The food was delicious! I will be back!

  • Review 142 (2018-05-21 - Rating: 4)

This place is great, the only problem is the waiting, but it cant be helped I guess. Me and my friend ordered few of the appetizers to share, they were pretty good, especially the Mac and cheese. The chicken wings were good, but the sauce might not be for everyone. The crab cakes were alright, but nothing special. And the chicken with waffle was spicy, so if you are not good with spicy, beware. They have a separate dessert menu.

  • Review 143 (2019-05-08 - Rating: 5)

Such a lively restaurant! Came here for dinner and was not disappointed in the food, decor or live band!We ordered the jerk chicken and yardbird for the mains, a side of Mac and cheese over a bed of collared greens and the key lime dessert.Everything was very tasty and flavorful! I would recommend to anyone thats visiting NYC.The live band was also such a nice addition to our dinner.5 stars!!

I came to NYC for a show. We got to Red Rooster early and the resturant was able to seat us. Misha was our server and she was so friendly and bubbly. She really made our experience special. It was good to know she had family in VA. The food was really good. I had the fried chicken and fries. The corn bread was excellent.

  • Review 146 (2019-10-03 - Rating: 5)

OMG the best food in NYC is in Harlem! Red rooster is the place to be. There’s not really a dress code however most people are business casual or jazzy is what I like to call it. I fell in LOVE with this place. Not only is the atmosphere amazing the food is to die for. I had the Obama!!! Please, please, PLEASE get this when you visit. It won’t disappoint!! I’m a huge foodie being from Baton Rouge, Louisiana so I have a HIGH expectation for food and they did not disappointed!!!

  • Review 147 (2022-11-12 - Rating: 4)

My last stop out of New York ended on a good note. The steak was good but the grits were really good(it was kinda like macaroni and cheese the way it had a cheese topping). My friend got the catfish which was also really good.

As soon as you walk in, you know youre about to have a great experience. Great decor. Dont get me started on the food. Every single on of the food is amazing. I sat in the bar and they serve food at the bar too. I dont remember the exact name, but I ordered something called Honey BBQ chicken, and it was the best chicken I have had so far. If you love chicken, this is the place to be. Dan was the bartender. He made me a drink called Savoy and wow! It was amazing. If youre having trouble deciding on a drink, ask Dan. Highly recommended. WARNING: the portion of all the items are huge! Probably the best thing to do is to share the food with a friend or family.. or a stranger lol

Trendesetting at the onset, home comfort food elevated to a high level with great craft and rich flavor. The sweet potato coconut soup was a delicious and the biscuit and gravy were wonderfully savory.

  • Review 156 (2019-07-25 - Rating: 4)

Got the chicken and waffle appetizer: a smaller portion but great flavor, skin nicely crisp, sauce was a little spicy but not overpowering. Blueberry waffle flavor wasn’t strong and barely noticeable. But Cool decor and atmosphere.

Very nice outdoor space (even in winter), friendly staff, and great food. My only complaint would be the enormous portions, but is that really a complaint? Rolled out well fed and pleasantly buzzed. Will definitely be back.

Finally got to try this after watching worth it BuzzFeed from singapore, the atmosphere was really vibing & warm with the AMAZING live band. The yard bird was gooood, it’s taste & seasoning is truly unique for fried chicken and I applaud that. However, for me the breast piece came out rather dry, thigh pieces were somewhat juicy, but overall there was no where near enough honey/sauce on the chicken. Probably part of the minority who didn’t get a perfectly fried/tossed/dressed/sauce-ed piece. But still really enjoyed the atmosphere and the sides were yum, especially the potatoes

Got the chicken tower it was great! Sauces were tasty especially the honey one. Sides were good too, we got the Mac and greens, tomatoes and the mashed potatoes. Id say it was enough for 4 hungry people or 5 normal people

I went here on Valentine’s Day and had the pre fixe menu. The highlight of the menu was the deviled eggs and the seafood pasta. It was DELICIOUS! We enjoyed everything but I did not care for the mushroom/ginger soup.I would definitely come back, I took off half a star because we were seated right next to a door and there was a very cold draft. We did ask to be reseated but it was not acknowledged. I took off another half a star because we ordered a side of Mac and cheese that we never received.Otherwise, everything was excellent and looking forward to returning.
