I was out with my family when we came in out of nowhere. With no reservation, we entered to be welcomed by a great ambience and aroma. The service was exceptional and my black pasta was amazing. My family greatly enjoyed their meal too. Everything was fresh and I couldn’t be happier. The Ricotta Cheesecake for dessert was very nice and unique, not too sweet but of great flavor. I will for sure be back in the future! -

Atmosphere is beautiful and the food was delicious. I have texture issues with mushrooms and seafood, so Im always thrilled when I find a risotto without them. Everything we ate here was lovely, one of our favorite restaurants in Washington Heights. -

Had a wonderful dinner last night for my moms birthday. The food was delicious as always, the service was awesome, they’re very welcoming here and the prices are very reasonable. We had the Ceasar salad and mussels to start off. For our entrees my mom had the skirt steak with arugula and I had the squid ink pasta with calamari. To top it off we had the chocolate lava cake and they were nice enough to add a candle and even comp it at the end of our meal. All of this plus two drinks each and the bill was only $130 !Have been here before but this was the best dinner thus far ! Will be back for sure , definitely a Washington heights gem :) -

Really good uptown meal.Have been here many times and my rating kinda vacillates based on the dishes I get.Tonight I had lobster ravioli which was very al dente and almost hard on the outer portion - a bummer because the market price lobster made the dish fairly expensive. The bar has a happy hour menu which I’ve enjoyed as a quick meet up with a friend. Also a back patio area. -

I recently visited Saggio, a Sicilian restaurant, and found the experience mixed. The interior was inviting, with a warm and cozy atmosphere that made for a pleasant dining environment. As for the food, the fried calamari was decent—crispy and tender, but it lacked the standout flavor I was hoping for. The chicken was okay as well; it was well-cooked but didnt have the depth of seasoning I expected.Overall, while Saggio has a nice ambiance, the food could use some improvement to truly shine. -
Review 6 (2024-07-30 - Rating: 4)
Needed a fairly quick meal and only ordered the S&M special (spaghetti & meatballs, that is) and a glass of wine. Very good and enough of it to take some home. The service was just right, and the server, especially, was very sweet. The dining room is a bit sad, especially in contrast to the patio, which is lovely. I hope that at some point, they can do a quick reno and brighten it up. -

This is the place that i always take people when they come and visit. the food is wonderful and well portioned (special shout out to restaurant week, as i dont remember the last time i saw full portions at one), the drinks are legitimately the best ive ever had, and the patio is perfect for someone like me who doesnt indoor done. been coming here since middle school over a decade ago and it hasnt done me wrong yet! -

Discovered this gem a while back and it’s become a regular spot. While the dining area is small, they do tend to manage the space well without being made to feel rushed out the door. The food is great and the cocktails generous. Be careful of the step down from the bar to the dining area. -
Review 10 (2024-05-22 - Rating: 5)
In my opinion it’s the best Italian restaurant in all Upper West Manhattan. We went to this place to try a different meal in those days that you are bored about the same food , and we love it. The best part is that it isn’t expensive as other Italian restaurants. I personally recommend the lasagna! It’s amazing. -
Review 11 (2019-07-17 - Rating: 5)
Food was amazing, ordered the pasta al limoncello and was to die for. Service was very attentive Rebecca was very helpful during dinner. And all the staff was very nice. I would definitely be going back!!! Thank you guys, keep it up with the good service!!! (tip: even if you are hungry, two starters is too much, and the service is very quick, so you won’t be waiting at all for your food) -

Came here tonight for my mothers bday, we live a block away and I’m not sure why we have not been here before. So glad we did! The food was delicious and the service was incredible! We had shrimp scampi, chicken franchise and the gnocchi plates along with the fried calamari as appetizer. Some drinks to go along. Honestly a great neighborhood spot! We’ll be coming by again for sure! Thank you! -

I LOVE SAGGIOS! I have been in this neighborhood for eleven years and SAGGIOS STAYS CONSISTENTLY WONDERFUL! Delicious Italian food with a welcoming and courteous staff. I have enjoyed lunch, dinner, and brunch here; all equally delicious! Go to their bottomless brunch, it’s a great deal! Also, a big fan of their spinach lasagna! -

Met a friend for brunch here and its absolutely delightful. we sat outside on the patio (highly recommend!) which was decorated beautifully, and the inside of the restaurant looked lovely too. the staff was fabulous and the music playing inside was fab too. THE FOOD. we both loved our entrees, but i must give special props to the blood orange mimosas (so good) and the pistachio milk latte (!!!!). really unique, delicious options that set this place apart from others.our server was so kind and let us chill out and catch up for more than two hours. highly recommend and i cant wait to return. -

Nice Italian venue, with robost menu. Great housemade pastas, nice setting and friendly staff. Specials were attractive and the cocktails were nice. Tried their Burrata Ravoli which was delicious and Squid Ink Pasta which was also great as well. -

Review 18 (2023-10-31 - Rating: 5)
Long overdue review! I’ve been coming to Saggio since they initially opened. It’s the go to place in the neighborhood for excellent Italian food. They have delicious homemade sauces, crostini’s, and the best kale Caesar salad (it’s addicting). The atmosphere is very comfortable and quaint and staff are friendly and accommodating. They also have a great Happy Hour, always with very good wines. And their Limoncello is to die for. During nice weather you can sit out back on their cute and quiet patio. I always enjoy coming here. -

Review 20 (2024-06-21 - Rating: 5)
Walked by this restaurant so many times, easily missed. When you walk in, one is taken aback by how beautiful the place is. It feels as if youve gone back in time. Sorry i dont have pictures of the food but we savored every delicious morsel, perfectly cooked. We had the sautéed calamari, spaghetti al limone with skirt steak and tagliati. And, they bring delicious Italian bread with olive oil and olives. Will definitely be returning to try their other dishes. Service was great. The young lady serving us was very knowledgeable of the menu and attentive. Kept coming back to make sure we didnt need anything else. Dont miss out on this gem! Youll regret not coming sooner, like we did. -
Review 21 (2018-06-25 - Rating: 4)
The food, atmosphere, and service here are all outstanding. Were dont visit NY often so each time we do we try something different. Saggio is the best restaurant weve been to so far. -

Review 23 (2023-09-08 - Rating: 4)
Its for sure better to eat in than their delivery service. Penne a la vodka was ok; had better. Croquettes were divine. Gotta try it at brunch because everyone raves about it.The place is TIGHT. How do they sit couples in the booth meant for like 4 people. I just dont know. -
Review 24 (2024-12-22 - Rating: 5)
The staff and the food were amazing. Great experience not to be missed. -
Review 25 (2023-12-02 - Rating: 5)
All I gotta say is, Kale Cesar is AMAZING! Large portions, generous on the dressing and love the Parmesan cheese strips. It’s simply DELISH!The polenta… holy smokes!!!! Soul food!! SO good, especially on a cold rainy day. If their polenta was in my house, I would eat the ENTIRE pot!I’ve had almost every pasta dish on the menu and you can’t really go wrong.A neighborhood fav.Enjoy! -

Review 28 (2023-03-08 - Rating: 5)
We loved our first visit to this cozy restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and the prices were reasonable. I had the spaghetti al limone, which was exactly what I wanted. Simple and light, yet very flavourful. We also ordered the fried calamari appetiser and mussels. The only minus for the mussels was that quite a few of them (4-5) were closed and so we couldn’t eat them. We let the waitress know so the chef could inform the suppliers. But the sauce they were in was to die for and I would consider ordering them again. My niece loved her chicken parm and my sister liked her dish, which was one of the specials - shrimp tagliatelle. All in all a wonderful experience. Well done Saggio! -
Review 29 (2022-11-01 - Rating: 5)
The food is exquisite. THIS is my pasta spot in the heights. Dan is an excellent bartender and he made me feel super taken care of. Saggio is *the* spot for a date night and/or just a lovely cozy meal with a friend.Worth the 10 block Uber for a evening treat! -
Review 30 (2024-12-20 - Rating: 5)
Gnocchi is absolutely unbelievable! For years, Saggios has consistently been my favorite Italian food in New York City. Great service, wonderful people and even better tiramisu 😋😉 ALSO, can we talk about their bread????? Sooooo good!!!!!! -
Review 31 (2024-11-24 - Rating: 5)
Visiting NYC again and second time here. We love it! Great food and service! -
Review 32 (2022-12-02 - Rating: 5)
I only gave it four stars because I have only eaten there once last week, but I loved it. Very much a NYC kind of atmosphere, great service (our server was a good guy), it was pouring, but we were in the covered patio area out back (by choice), the steak and eggs were amazing and the gnocchi was off the hook 🤌🏿 The Bottomless Brunch is $35 and I promise, the portions wont let you get but so far. I will be returning...again and again so I can move that food to give stars. -
Review 33 (2024-02-04 - Rating: 5)
Went here to celebrate a birthday during Restaurant Week. They had a good deal that included a glass of wine, appetizer, entree and dessert. The calamari was awesome (both types), as well as the Shaved Fennel Salad, the lasagna with the spinach was enjoyable, and the panna cotta was light and balanced with the chocolate on top. I would come back again. -
Review 34 (2024-10-30 - Rating: 5)
The food and the staff was amazing. The food came out pretty quickly and everything was absolutely amazing. Delicious! -
Review 35 (2024-04-21 - Rating: 5)
Best Italian food in the area. It actually might be the only Italian food in the area but great nonetheless. I usually stick to the Al limone pastony with pollo or the raviolis both which are amazing but this time around I grabbed the skit stake with arugula and a side of mashed. Delicious and inexpensive -
Review 36 (2019-02-04 - Rating: 5)
This is my favorite place in the heights! Its the cutest, coziest restaurant with a wonderful back patio when the weather is cooperating. The food is always consistently amazing and the staff is super friendly. I cant even begin to recommend any food because literally everything I have had has been delicious (although my favorite is the ricotta cavatelli with pesto!). To top is all off the happy hour at the bar includes $4 wines and some food too! -
Review 37 (2019-06-02 - Rating: 5)
Oh my goodness. The pasta! Its so delicious. I felt the owners really did a great job of transplanting Italy right into Manhattan. Genuinely great tasting food. Wonderful neighborhood vibe. Diverse crowd. Helpful staff. -
Review 38 (2018-06-29 - Rating: 5)
We hosted a dinner for about 40 people in the courtyard. It was great. The service was good and the food delicious. I recommend Saggios for a large event but also for dinner with friends. We have eaten there numerous times and it was always good. -
Review 39 (2020-12-08 - Rating: 5)
3rd time ordering a pick up order and after today i had to leave a review! With 15 minutes to close (yes I know I’m ashamed being in the food biz myself) and i was expecting to be turned down but I tried my luck anyways, I believe TESS took care of me & was super sweet about it and let me order! This has become my favorite Italian spot in the city and they never disappoint, both service & food wise; Gnocci is definitely the way to go and I’ll definitely be back next time earlier promise! -
Review 40 (2016-01-22 - Rating: 5)

Review 42 (2018-01-13 - Rating: 5)
I come to NYC every 2 months for treatment at Columbia. We were lucky that my sister had found this restaurant while coming to visit me when I was hospitalized .... I live in Upstate NY. SO we aren’t familiar with the area. So we take a 5 min ride via uber to go there to eat the night before I go in for treatment. This place is very compact and not generally for people who seek “space” from other patrons while eating. But we always go during the week and unfortunately with my emergency supplies and Oxygen I have to carry with me always I need a little more room. They were accommodating and found us a 3 seater ... the man who cleaned off the table made it clear he would not be able to do on a weekend cause they were too busy ... my husband was not happy and said there was no need to say that to us and make me feel uncomfortable (we only come during the week anyways)... and had sad we wouldn’t go back. But I understand we don’t live in a perfect world and my husband is very protective of me. So I mentioned it to our waitress. She could not have been more gracious and apologized to us ... she made sure our service was excellent and she said she would speak to the manager. We were t looking for anything off our meals - it was the principle. Sometimes things happen and you can’t control what ppl say all the time - she was wonderful . The food and wine were amazing - the steaks cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is cozy and warm and we will definitely go back. She even gave us the dessert we ordered to go at n/c compliments of the management - thank you for making this a great experience. If you want a great Italian food and warm atmosphere you simply must try out this restaurant. -

Review 47 (2013-03-15 - Rating: 5)
WaHi and Inwood need more food options like Saggio! The place is always packed for a reason. Though folks say the space is small, the food is fantastic. Actually, I appreciate the small space, its intimate. Ive had most of the main dishes and have never been let down. The specials are also nothing to miss. Youll want to come back again and again to try everything on the menu. My suggestion is have everyone in your party order something different and share because youre going to want to have a taste of it all. To top off your well prepared, perfectly cooked dish, order the tiramisu. Overall, Saggio is excellent: the prices are perfect, the food is amazing, the ambiance is cozy and comfortable. Get to 181st and see for yourself! -

Saggio opens at 4pm, the staff absolutely great and attentive . The atmosphere is a low light with a candle light between you and another person sitting across from you. The food I have to say was and most likely will have you wanting more. Will be going again and again . -

A heartfelt thank you for a wonderful evening last night. We showed up without a reservation to celebrate after a successful cardiologist appointment at NY Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. One in our party has a restricted diet. It was his first dinner out since having a heart attack in December of 2019. Peter and all the staff were so hospitable and responsive, making for a really nice evening for us all. Thank you! We’ll be back. -

A great cozy “hometown” feeling restaurant. Delicious Italian food that is just as good delivered. Highly recommend for a date night or delivery to simply give yourself a night off from cooking. -
Review 55 (2018-11-04 - Rating: 4)
Great baked eggs, so good especially if you love red sauce. Good idea to make a reservation (6 or more). High ceilings are beautiful on a sunny morning or afternoon. -
Review 56 (2017-08-02 - Rating: 4)
Great tasting food. Decent portion for what you pay.but I guess were paying quality since this isnt a sbarros or familgia. Its got nothing on carmines spaghetti and meatballs. But im only comparing it because I has a week before Saggio. The interior could use some work. Feels a bit constricted, i d rather sit outside on a nice night with friends or a date. Overall a great choice for quality italian in a neighborhood that doesnt really have another restaurant like this. -
Review 57 (2021-03-20 - Rating: 5)
Sliders were amazing. Spinach lasagna was tasty and service was great. They have outside and inside seating. Worth coming here again. -

Review 59 (2013-09-15 - Rating: 5)
Newish to the area I was pleased to find lovely little Italian restaurant in my neighborhood. The food is well portioned and consistently tasty with some unique flair on traditional favorites. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is intimate and warm. Hard to believe this gem is in Washington HeightsOn a recent visit my boyfriend and I commented to the owner how much we enjoyed dining here and he sent out a huge piece of tiramisu for us. Not only was it very generous but the most delicious tiramisu I can recall ( and Ive traveled all through Italy sampling tiramisu!)Would highly recommend.. If you live in the area and appreciate italian food and excellent atmosphere,Saggio will likely become one of your favorite places to dine! It certainly has mine. -
Review 60 (2016-02-15 - Rating: 5)
Easily the best Italian restaurant in Washington/Hudson Heights. Very cozy, intimate atmosphere. The food is consistently incredible. The Tagliata Toscano is my particular favorite; the tender skirt teak is cooked to perfection, with sheets of Parmesan over a bed of arugula. Pasta dishes are also excellent. Wine selection could be better. Get the caprese as a starter - you wont regret it!One of the few negatives is the fact that its gotten so popular over the years, that it can become very crowed for dinners...its almost *too* cozy, and you feel like youre sharing your dinner with the parties nearby... but no more than many other Manhattan-sized restaurants clamoring for real estate.Because it gets crowded, and they dont take reservations, schedule your meal to be early. Or, put your name in and go for a walk...often the wine/liquor store nearby has wine tastings, which is a good way to use the time while you wait for your table. There also s a good Hudson River overlook just down the hill. -

Discovered this gem on Time Out NY and havent stopped going back. Intimate atmosphere equally appropriate for a romantic evening as a night with family, fair prices and a delicious wine list, and the foooood........ There arent enough words to describe the bolognese lasagna made with spinach noodles, or the squid-ink pasta with calamari, or or ... Whatre you waiting for?? One of the few restaurants Ive ever given 5/5. 👍 -

Review 72 (2023-11-15 - Rating: 4)
12 of us dined at Saggio on Mon, Nov 13/23. They were very creative in using every square inch of space in this popular restaurant. There were even tables in the narrow hallway to the heated patio where our group was seated, and while the main part of the restaurant was quite noisy, the patio was wonderfully quiet and set up with overhead heaters to combat the cold night.Crostini (tomato/basil, goat cheese, and white bean) were enjoyed, particularly the white bean crostini. Our friend enjoyed the kale Caesar salad; and my husband demolished the gnocchi. Tagliatelle ai funghi was tasty, though a bit on the salty side. The panna cotta looked beautiful but wasnt as flavorful as I was hoping it would be; and surprisingly, was quite firm (i.e., no jiggle), though happily there wasnt a rubbery texture. Service was attentive without being intrusive. -

I was in NYC just before Covid, and was taken to Saggio by friends. My meal tasted exactly like what my grandma’s cooking, which brought tears to my eyes. The atmosphere makes you feel like you’re far from a bustling city. I like to think of myself as a tiramisu connoisseur, and theirs is the kind you don’t want to share. Can’t wait to go back! -

Fresh pasta for all!! Came here with my fiancé on a Tuesday and we loved it. He had the classic meatballs and pasta and I had the butternut squash ravioli with brown butter sage sauce. We ordered glasses of Pinot Grigio.I was able to finish all of mine even on a partially full stomach. The wine selection is very good for even savvy connoisseurs. Our waitress (who wore glasses) was funny and friendly, made us feel very comfortable and we both loved her.We ended the night with classic Tiramisu and my green tea (they use the Mighty Leaf brand 🍵🍃). -

Review 138 (2022-10-10 - Rating: 4)
Staff was absolutely amazing. Ambiance and prices were outstanding. Menu is small but varied and offers a solid selection. The reason its not five stars is that while all of the food that we ordered was good, nothing stood out as exceptional. The seafood ravioli was decent but not tremendous. The lasgna was fine, but wouldnt go out of our way to order again. The best dish was the hand made gnocchi. We all agreed that it was unique and worth the trip. -

Its great having a local Italian spot with homemade pasta. Ive eaten here several times and the food was always good. Although I would prefer a cheesy, veggie pasta dish to be on the menu, Ive always been satisfied with my orders and the service. The prices are also reasonable. -

This is possibly the cutest little Italian eatery Ive ever been to! The wait staff and service were both impeccable! I was definitely waited on and served in practically no time. Their little igloo set-up in the garden of the restaurant is great way to wine and dine with your better-half during this forsaken pandemic too; It has a sense of coziness and intimacy. The prices were definitely worth it and food was exquisite! Im definitely coming back here! -

Review 155 (2021-06-27 - Rating: 4)
Dinner here was delicious and the service was great. The women working that night were a lot of fun actually. We started out with fried calamari, I had the chicken picatta and my friend had the tagliatelle with an Italian sausage ragout. They were all really good. I meant to ask what the house red was, because it was surprisingly good. And have the homemade chocolate cake for desert. Youll be glad you did. -
