My mom and I stumbled upon a gem in the heart of New York City: Sandro’s. Nestled conveniently near our event venue, it was the perfect spot for a pre-event lunch. From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and courteousness, setting the tone for what would be an unforgettable dining experience. As we settled into our seats, we couldnt help but admire the charming ambiance of the restaurant. Soft lighting, rustic décor, and the aroma of freshly baked bread created an inviting atmosphere that immediately put us at ease. Our anticipation grew as we perused the menu, filled with an enticing array of Italian classics. Each dish was a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Every bite was a delight for the senses. What truly made our experience memorable was the impeccable service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction, making us feel like honored guests from start to finish. As we reluctantly bid farewell to Sandro’s, we knew that this would not be our last visit. We left with full bellies, happy hearts, and eager anticipation for our next culinary adventure at this wonderful restaurant. Sandro’s has undoubtedly earned a cherished place on our list of go-to spots in the city, and we cannot wait to return. Grazie mille for a truly unforgettable lunch experience! -

My first time at Sandro’s and man this place did not disappoint! I went w my folks for an early 5pm seating on a Friday.Food 10/10Service 10/10Crowd 9/10Ambiance 6/10Food was absolute Italian perfection. I ate the cacio e Pepe because of the reviews. I don’t even really enjoy pasta like this but I reeeeeally had to hold back from shoveling this entire plate into my face. I took the little I had left on my plate and I ate it for breakfast the next day lolService was so relaxed. They let us take our time, kept an eye on our table when we flagged them and everything was great. The crowd at 86 street was mixed! Young, old, couples, friends and families. I think 81 st may have gotten an older crowd but this was crowd was diverse which was nice. The decor was kind of lacking but if anything is going to come up short, I prefer to be this part.Loved Sandro’s and highly recommend this neighborhood gem! -

First off, this is NOT a red sauce Italian joint. So if you’re looking for a parm dish or sausage and peppers, head elsewhere. Sandro’s is, after several visits, the best around at just about everything else - from arancini to cacio pepe to swordfish to white veal ragu and on and on. Grissini and lentil soup to begin with a wonderful gimlet and excellent featured wines. I’m telling you - don’t miss it. -

One of the top Italian restaurants in NYC, Sandros, is family-owned and serves delicious food, especially their pasta. Make sure to ask for their most famous fresh-made pasta—the flavor and portion size are excellent. I highly recommend this place for any occasion. Located in the Upper East Side, Sandros boasts a great location and a quiet atmosphere. -
Review 5 (2022-12-14 - Rating: 4)
Nice quiet place, beautiful bar with great accommodating staff members! Beautiful lentil soup to start with bread on the house, then I ordered the classica arugula salad and the lemon pasta. Salad was amazing but pasta was a bit meh. Just basic. Dessert was wonderful, very delicious pistacho flavor homemade! -

My boyfriend and I went to Sandros for our anniversary dinner the other night and we were blown away. Three days later we’re still talking about the pasta we had. The service was incredible, we didn’t wait more than 15 minutes for our food. The freshness of the food was amazing. Everything was amazing, we will definitely be coming back! -
Review 8 (2024-03-29 - Rating: 5)
Cozy UES spot with amazing, authentic and fresh food. The veal bolognese is amazing. It comes on the bone and perfectly pounded thin. You can tell the pastas are made in house too. -

Absolutely amazing experience. Seated me with no reservation on a Friday night as a solo party at a table; server was extremely attentive but I did not feel rushed. I would hold up the food to meals I had in Italy-- and Im Italian. Highly recommend and going again tonight! -

Good Italian restaurant on the UES, but not the best in the area. -
Review 12 (2024-10-23 - Rating: 5)
Went here per a friends recommendation for my Anniversary. We loved the pasta and the service. The ability to order half pastas to try more was wonderful. The appetizers were good, but the mains outshined them. Will be going back and its worth the visit to try. -
Review 13 (2022-11-26 - Rating: 5)
Walked in for a quick dinner and we were blown away by the quality of the service and the food. Ive eaten a lot of Italian in Manhattan and was not expecting this place to stand out. Vintage level hospitality and a cozy neighborhood vibe. Look forward to bringing friends here in the future. -
Review 14 (2021-11-20 - Rating: 5)
This place is so good - I managed to squeeze in for seats for two at the bar at peak hours and am so glad that I did. Everything was incredible, highly recommend the homemade fettuccine bolognese. I was sitting at the bar, and they just kept giving me food - incredible bread, freshly baked cookies, excellent liquor. 6/5 stars. -
Review 15 (2021-05-21 - Rating: 5)
We had an amazing family dinner here after not having seen family in months because of COVID. The restaurant is small, so make reservations! The staff were superb and extremely knowledgeable. The veal special was AMAZING: I highly recommend any of their food! Pricey, but worth it for a special meal! -
Review 16 (2021-06-12 - Rating: 5)
I’ve been living for more than 10 years on the Upper East side very close to this restaurant but never tried it. Last night was my first time. Incredible food and service. I know you may not believe me - at least for me, this was one of the best, if not the best Italian food I ever had. Highly recommend this place -

Sandro’s is a neighborhood gem and my favorite restaurant in Manhattan. I’m grateful it’s in the neighborhood and I look forward to continuing to frequent it for many years to come. -
Review 18 (2018-12-07 - Rating: 5)
Very happy we went to Sandro’s. The service is excellent, the food is exceptional. I’m always hesitant to order whole branzino, but this place serves absolutely the best prepared version I’ve ever had. Next time I’ll definitely try a pasta dish. The homemade ricotta cheese cake was also superb. Go to Sandro’s. -
Review 19 (2017-08-15 - Rating: 4)
Great neighborhood spot. The service is very friendly and they really take care of you. Quiet, an older clientele. But casual. The food is very good. Pastas cooked well. Needed a little more Sauce or flavoring in my opinion. -

Sandro’s A neighborhood gemSandro’s is a family owned restaurant whichis convenient to The Metropolitan Museum on 2nd Avenueand 81st street. The staff is warm and friendly. We were greeted with a cup of complementary warm lentilsoup. The dishes were divine. They had several dishes withshaved black truffles, divine salads, and a very large menu.My wife had the veal picata which was delicious and perfectlycooked. I had the rigatoni with meat balls. The home made bread sticksand grappa were divine. The had very nice red and white wines by the glasswhich were reasonably priced. Sandro’s is one of our New York favorites. -

Review 22 (2014-03-03 - Rating: 5)
Some of the best Italian Fare you will ever taste. Really great service if a bit fussy but I am a gal who loves being fussed over so I dont mind. Try everything! The appetizers are to die for and the pasta incredible. Its expensive yes, its not for tourists. -
Review 23 (2018-05-12 - Rating: 5)
This is the best food I have had in NYC. The meals are so carefully crafted. You can honestly taste the love, not to be cheesy or anything. Oh also the CHEESE if you don’t cry over their homemade burrata you may not have a heart. It’s just 💯. If you are a foodie come here... I promise you will love it. -
Review 24 (2019-07-24 - Rating: 5)
5 stars for food. 3 stars for ambiance. However, you dont come here for ambiance you come for Sandros delicious creations. They have a plethora of specials every evening and it would help to have them written out or up on a board somewhere, as the waiter can go on for upwards of 10 mins about the specials. Its such a long verbal list, you end up forgetting the options after a while. The lemon pasta and the cornish hen are my favorite go-to dishes at this spot. Be prepared for high prices. -
Review 25 (2023-11-07 - Rating: 5)

Sandros is one of my favorite places on the UES. Weve liked everything weve had there, but the bucatini is out of this world. The vibes and really comfortable, unassuming, cozy. The wait staff is kind an attentive. Overall great experience. -
Review 29 (2024-07-11 - Rating: 5)
We were there on 24th Jun for dinner. Felix served us and what a fine job he did with his hospitality and care even if it was just his first day at the job at Sandros! Thank you, Felix for making the experience unforgettable and ensuring that the food served was suitable for me. We will visit again. -
Review 30 (2017-03-30 - Rating: 5)
What is there not to like at Sandros? If you want authentic Italian (or even Roman) pasta and food on the Upper East Side, I would most definitely recommend this unassuming restaurant tucked away on East 81st off of Second. And if cacio e pepe is not being offered that evening, simply ask for it. -

My girlfriend and I went for a late Valentine’s Day dinner and were so impressed. Sandro, the owner and sommelier, treated us with a great bottle of wine and actively had conversation with us. At the end of dinner, I was surprised to see on the bill that he had given us a discount on the original price. The food was intricate, tasty, and perfectly portioned. The staff were very accommodating too. We will certainly be going back! -

Review 57 (2023-05-09 - Rating: 5)
Epic dinner at Sandros. The pasta is all made in house and is absolutely spectacular. My veal was also outstanding, clearly the kitchen staff knows what they are doing. There arent many restaurants, especially Italian one, on the upper east side that I would make the trek for...but Sandros is firmly cemented on the top of the list. The owner is just a wonderful guy, all the staff are top notch. The wine list is pretty epic. I almost didnt want to review because I want to be able to get a table, but my loss is your gain. -

Review 60 (2023-11-20 - Rating: 5)
I’ve lived in New York / the Upper East Side for 9.5 years. Been everywhere. This is hands-down the best Italian food (and service) in the city. Why? Simple: the ingredients are top-notch, and Sandro / Anna / Sandro Jr know how to build a dish and deliver impeccable service. As a further testimonial, I brought my leadership team here a year ago and they still talk about it. Other venues may have the glitz and glamour; Sandro’s has the ingredients and the service. Pro Tip: the Spaghetti A Limone is *the* dish. Burrata with prosciutto and melon has an appetizer also a critical play. Enjoy! -
Review 61 (2023-10-09 - Rating: 5)
Charming and convivial staff. Excellent food. Terrific service. Highly recommended. -
Review 62 (2018-06-06 - Rating: 5)

Great ambiance and delicious food! We were here on Valentines Day, and it is the perfect neighborhood date spot. The pastas are delicious, as well as the appetizers (prosciutto and burrata, pear and anchovy salad special.) Definitely making this a regular spot for a nice dinner in the neighborhood! -

Review 66 (2023-08-06 - Rating: 5)
The food is excellent. It’s truly carb heaven, with a twist of lime. All elevated by quintessential Italian hospitality - the grissini is outstanding and the biscotti in the end is warm and buttery and bites the right notes 🤌🏼 -
Review 67 (2023-07-05 - Rating: 5)
Have lived on the Upper East Side for a bit, but had never dined at Sandro’s. Walked in on a Friday night around 8:30 and was able to snag two seats at the bar. I admittedly had medium expectations because this isn’t a restaurant that normally comes up among friends. Started off with a dirty martini that was perfect. My boyfriend ordered the Spaghetti Con Vongole which was great. I couldn’t decide between Bucatini Amatriciana and Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe so I asked our server which he’d recommend. Landed on the Amatriciana but when our food came out there were 3 pasta dishes - they sent a half portion of the Cacio e Pepe on the house. The Amatriciana is one of the best dishes I’ve ever had - and I lived in Italy. The Cacio e Pepe was also amazing. We later learned the server we spoke with was the owners son. His mom was the hostess who seated us. Love a family restaurant - such an underrated gem on the UES. We also had a great dessert. Cannot wait to come back with friends and family!! Excited to have a new neighborhood spot, thanks Sandro’s!! -

Review 76 (2022-12-24 - Rating: 5)
I am Italian and very picky about so called Italian restaurants in America. Sandro is like being teleported to Rome, and you do not need a plane ticket. The burrata was fresh and the wild boar pasta special was mind blowing. The menu is a rare combination of best sellers (burrata, branzino) and authentic Roman food (supplì, scarola, cacio e pepe). I miss Rome and this place feels like being there. The ambiance is refined yet warm without being pretentious. It is great for a work dinner as well as for a night with your best friend. Thank you for being here in NYC -
Review 77 (2022-11-20 - Rating: 5)
We sat at the bar w reservations and had a delicious meal. Branzino Livirnese was so delicious, fresh and tender. It came w a side of escarole and we added the broccoli rabe. We wllbe back. Thomas at the bar was attentive. -

Best Italian food in the UES and maybe all of Manhattan. The Roman inspired menu is constantly changing and always extremely fresh. Dishes are simple yet well crafted. Prices are high but well worth the quality of food and service. -
Review 80 (2021-06-11 - Rating: 5)
Sandros is easily the best Italian restaurant on the UES, and potentially throughout the city. Its classic and traditional. Exactly what youd expect, but better than you can imagine. To top it all off, its family-owned, and the waitstaff is the best Ive encountered. When you step in, it doesnt feel like youre in Manhattan anymore. It feels like youre at a friends house. I couldnt recommend it enough. -

Warm bread and homemade breadsticks, and water arrived as we sat down….then crispy bruschetta toast with fresh plum tomatoes slices! We dined on the rice balls (delicious!!!!), house salad (with butter lettuce too!), spaghetti and clams; linguine and bolognese. The pasta was fresh homemade and the serving size extremely generous! Warm homemade cookies were brought with the check however we also enjoyed the lemon gelato with berries.Fine Italian dining at its best! I’ll return to see Sandro and dine again! -

To be fair, the burgers here are beautiful, the late-night knees up from Michael with chef Danny on the pans, is a awesome addition to the staff. Two patties, sticky plastic cheese, bacon and a bordelaise with jewels of roasted beef turning the whole thing into an outlandishly tasty beast that could power you across the Antarctic.Recommend yes yes yes! -

This. Place. Was. AMAZING!!! The restaurant is very small and a place that is seemingly visited only by locals. I knew we were in a great place when so many people in the restaurant were speaking Italian. We got the burrata to start. The cheese was fresh and the tomatoes and greens were delicious. We shared this between 4 people. For dinner, I got the goat cheese ravioli with a lemon cream sauce and it was out of this world. The pasta was perfectly cooked and everything perfectly seasoned and BALANCED!!! For dessert, I got the Tiramisu, which is made in house. Again, it was out of this world. Somehow, it was incredibly light! The peach grapa that was brought at the end of the meal was delicious as well and a nice end to an incredible meal. The wine selection was excellent as well and the bottles are not overpriced at all. -

So yummy. Cacio e pepe wad the best Ive ever had. Everyone is so nice here. I believe you get free cookies while youre paying the bill but every table got them except for us and we felt too awkward to ask about it. -
