Pretty good sausages with unique combos, a tad bit pricey for the portion size though.Would rate higher but they were out of a lot of ingredients when I went, so they kept making me change my order to accommodate.Great service though, guy behind the counter was really nice! -

Absolute favorite spot of mine. I may have tried every sausage on the menu and have not found a flaw in a single one. There are two in particular that I get most often, one with rueben toppings and another with burger-like toppings but I can never remember the names. Delightful place to swing by and grab a delicious and filling meal. -

Took a brat break during our day biking around Central Park and this place absolutely fit the bill. It didnt feel touristy which is always nice (even though we were indeed tourists). We shared three brats: The Saigon, Pitmaster, and Reuben. Each were totally unique and held up well in the soft, yet sturdy, pretzel bun. Would love to try their other offerings someday. -

Best hotdogs EVER hadBeen here multiple times. Never let you down. What to get:- classic- Saigon Special *best of the best*: a mix of sausage, pretzel buns, pickled carrots & sauce. Super balanced, beautifully flavored & delicious- potato salad: cold & refreshing! The space is small, cozy & warm. The staff is always kind & awsome -

Great place with delicious sausages. Service was friendly and quick. They also have soft drinks from Europe and beer. It’s definitely a place to go often for quick meals. The only thing I regret is that I visited them only after 2 years I moved to UES. -
Review 6 (2020-08-26 - Rating: 5)
Forget about ordering a sad NYC streetcart frank, this is where its at. I paid $11 for a fat glizzy and there were no regrets. Its extremely filling. One of these is about 2 normal hotdogs. Ordered the Saigon special and immediately felt guilty that we went to war with both Germany and Vietnam. I really appreciate Scallers Stubes effort with something new -
Review 7 (2021-02-18 - Rating: 5)
We ate outside in 30 degree weather... and still enjoyed this meal 😂 we ordered the Saigon Special, Steuben’s Reuben, Po’Brat, and potato pancakes. My boyfriend goes here regularly and has tried every sausage on the menu lol. These were the three I tried and liked. Saigon Special was my favorite! The stand is run by ONE employee, god bless her, she’s rly nice and has to not only take everyone’s orders but cook it as well. Tip her well!!! -

Sample Schallers wursts at this quick and convenient counter. Start with The Classic: soft role, juicy wurst, grain mustard, kraut. Delicious. Rueben dog also hit all the right notes. Friendly staff threw in sample of insanely comforting bone broth. Happy place. -
Review 9 (2019-04-21 - Rating: 5)
The food here was amazing! They have so many unique hot dog options, and the meat and pretzel buns are incredible. Im not usually a hot dog person but this place completely converted me into a fan after I tried their classic NY style dog. The coleslaw was also amazing. -
Review 10 (2024-08-19 - Rating: 5)
Such an awesome place to stop for sausage. I ordered the Saigon and it was full of flavor! Order the special and get the sausage, pretzel, and beer! 10/10 recommend. -
Review 11 (2018-01-06 - Rating: 5)
Deliciously traditional German hot dogs! I love this place! You can go inside or just buy them from the street side kiosk. Super! -
Review 12 (2018-03-09 - Rating: 5)
Delicious sausages and great variety! Walk in or just walk up to the bar outside. Dont sleep on the chili cheese sausage. -
Review 13 (2024-06-01 - Rating: 5)
The beef sausage and pretzel bun are just what your cravings are looking for. -
Review 14 (2018-04-07 - Rating: 5)
Hot dog was really nice. May be I should have take normal sausage instead of cheddar sausage. The pretzel bread is really cool -
Review 15 (2016-11-04 - Rating: 5)
Great bratwurst! This is not your traditional hot dog, but really good, like one you would get in Germany. -
Review 16 (2023-07-31 - Rating: 5)
Easily the best sausage & bun I found on my hot dog hunt of New York. The snap & flavour of the sausage was authentic, the bun was soft and the sauces topped it off. They offer quite a few interesting things to try on their menu including vegetarian options. I tried the classic and the Reuben and both were excellent. The person who served me was very talkative and friendly, giving me advice/ opinion on different dishes they have. Great experience all round. -
Review 17 (2022-04-17 - Rating: 5)
Delicious vegan dogs! Love that they come on a pretzel bun, and they dont skimp on the toppings. The price is a bit steep, but its quality and the best vegan dog Ive found so far. A nice treat from time to time for me when Im in the area. -
Review 18 (2024-04-29 - Rating: 5)
Great wursts and great beer! Service was a little slow but super friendly staff and great street-side location to watch the hustle and bustle. -
Review 19 (2021-10-18 - Rating: 5)
Love the service here! Wonderful energy. Love a great German spot. We had a beer and two wursts. The classic and the curry wurst. And they gave us an almdudler on the house. So sweet. I think it’s definitely my new go-to spot in the neighborhood. -
Review 20 (2020-12-31 - Rating: 4)
The staff was very friendly and kindly offered his opinion when I asked about which hotdog to order as a first timer. He recommended the Classic and the Currywurst, I ended up getting the Classic, however I think I made a wrong choice. It came with a pretzel bun, which I liked, the sausage was tasty but overall the dog tastes a bit bland. I figured it might just be my personal preference issue since I always preferred a lil extra salt, so the sausage is not salty enough to me, also the toppings of this dog are light in flavor. I assume their other options might be stronger and heavier in terms of flavor. It is definitely a high quality sausage with real meat, not those cheap starchy hot dogs you get from the food trucks. I would like to try their other hot dogs and hopefully I make a better choice next time! -
Review 21 (2024-11-21 - Rating: 5)
When I miss Germany I come here to get a Currywurst! Its home away from home! Great service too! -
Review 22 (2020-01-11 - Rating: 4)
Good for a quick sausage or Bratwurst and a delicious pretzel roll. A variety of toppings is available. Pretzel rolls can be purchased next door at the Schaller & Weber retail store and butcher shop if you want to enjoy them at home. -
Review 23 (2019-01-01 - Rating: 5)
Tiny place with limited seating in the back. Pretty good food, I have kind of bland tastes but i recommend the currywurst and Aussiedog. I think they just started doing vegan options too. Very good for a quick, smallish meal, reasonable prices -
Review 24 (2018-06-01 - Rating: 5)
Had the PoDog (this time) and it was delicious! Nice andouille sausage, yummy Cajun slaw and the Stube sauce is perfect. Nothing much to report back this time, but the few other sausages Ive tried here have also been really nice.Ill be back again soon. -
Review 25 (2018-12-30 - Rating: 5)
ANAZING place!!Everything was perfect,The size, the staff, the tasteBy far one of the best sausages I ever had.I personally recommend on the “Saigon special” which was the chef’s recommendation but really everything looks just amazing.Highly recommended don’t leave the city without tasting this amazing sausage!!!!!!! -
Review 26 (2019-10-23 - Rating: 5)
Been coming here for years with a vegetarian wife and picky daughter. Things you might not realize: the sides are really good, especially the cucumber salad, and there are veggie sausage options. Though the fancy sausage combos are the highlight, for my money, the plain hot dog with ketchup is perfect (comes on pretzel roll), next to that the Classic (weisswurst with sauerkraut and mustard). Also Rathaus is almost always on tap. -
Review 27 (2016-05-29 - Rating: 5)
The guys who were working in here were great and the beers were excellent. The fried chicken and sausages were really good and, for the price, this place is hard to beat. The biggest thing is they have German beers on tap for $5 a pop! -
Review 28 (2019-11-30 - Rating: 5)
Best currybourst ive ever had ; was better than Berlin! But more expensive though. -
Review 29 (2016-10-30 - Rating: 5)
I really love how you can find authentic food from all sorts of countries in NYC! This time, we were looking for a quick bite, something German. There is a German butcher shop in UES with a sausage bar. There is a small counter with show window right below the sign, and this is where you order you food. If you are dining in,there is a small dining space at the back. They had some Oktoberfest special items when we went, which was a giant pretzel. Of course we ordered one, and two kinds of wursts. The inside is small, with counter seats on both sides of the wall, total of maybe 10 seats or less. For the wursts, we ordered one custom one, with the most traditional German sausage, Bratwurst with S&W Bavarian Sweet Mustard, S&W Sauerkraut, and Rotkohl Red Cabbage. The second one we ordered was a Currywurst, which is sliced Knackwurst topped with curry ketchup and curry powder. We also had a choice of having the wurst on Balthazar Brioche, or served “Naked” – without the bun. They were both pretty amazing, and we enjoyed it a lot! This was a great little lunch, I can see stopping by here for a good, solid snack as well. The female was really nice, a true German, and friendly to all customers. I would love to go back to taste more of their super tasty wursts! Read my full review of this eatery and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl. -
Review 30 (2019-02-09 - Rating: 5)
Really top notch hot dog. Everything is excellent, sausages, buns, toppings. Easily one of the top 10 dogs in new York. Premisses are very basic and might not make justice for the really nice dog they prepare.Price might be a bit above what you would expect for a normal hot dog but this is not your basic hot dog. If you have a chance, go next door to the simbling buainess, a German apecitlaty store, and have one of the caramels. One of the best Ive had in my life. -
Review 31 (2020-01-18 - Rating: 4)
Great place for a quick bite to eat. Really appreciate that they have beyond sausage — and a big vegetarian menu. I don’t come here often, but when I do, I’m always satisfied. Try the currywurst (beyond or regular); it has a great flavor! And everything comes on a pretzel bun! -
Review 32 (2022-11-10 - Rating: 4)

Blume review-Not only is this place a hidden gem but the staff is extremely passionate. While it make take some time to get a table, the staff sets up realistic expectations about wait time and even allow you to order drinks as you wait. Can’t wait to visit now that they changed their patio for the winter. -
Review 35 (2021-08-27 - Rating: 5)
Been here a few times, always had a great experience for a good brat and beer for such a small spot. Service was quick pretzel bun was great brat and sauerkraut was great. Beer was good could have been abit colder but will chalk it up to the NYC heat. Servers were friendly and quick to offer their opinions on what they like. Will definitely recommend for a quick bite and drink. Will definitely return. -
Review 36 (2019-07-27 - Rating: 5)
Its hard to find many places with authentic high quality delicious juicy bratwurst. This place has everything from classic currywurst to kielbasa. One of my absolute favorite places in the area. -
Review 37 (2017-10-11 - Rating: 5)
My German grandparents have been bringing me to Schaller since I was young and was very excited to hear they were opening this little food bar. This new spot is GREAT. I have been here twice and unfortunately got the same thing twice so I cant offer much in terms of a varied review, but I will say what I got was great. I got the Schaller Double, but substituted in the knackwurst. It was great both times, although very messy for a place that doesnt have a bathroom to wash your hands in afterwards, so be warned! The second time I decided to use a fork and a knife for that reason. We also got a side of the cucumber salad - super simple but SO GOOD. Have been getting this from Schaller since I was growing up and is a nice refreshing side to add to your meal.Be warned that the seating is limited and there are only high tops. Also was unfortunate that the second time I went they were playing music that sounded to me more just like screaming and it was EXTREMELY loud...might be nice of them to maybe play something that appeals to a bit more of a wider audience! -
Review 38 (2018-05-16 - Rating: 5)
Its a small place with limited sitting (sits at most 5-6 ppl). My friend and I were there to try the Beyond Sausage dogs and we really liked them. We ordered the Beyond Classic, which turned out to be really tangy because of the mustard and sauerkraut, and Banh-meat, which we liked because of the daikon-carrot slaw. The Beyond Sausages are excellent and so tasty. The pretzilla buns are also a nice touch. -
Review 39 (2019-03-09 - Rating: 5)
Thank you for offering Beyond Sausage! I always customize the classic one with a pretzel bun, diced onion and crispy potato strings! I go all the way uptown from LES just for this! -
Review 40 (2019-01-12 - Rating: 5)

Review 41 (2019-08-25 - Rating: 5)
Hot dogs are super good! They offer beyond meat for those interested. Adjacent market also has a great selection. -
Review 42 (2019-10-13 - Rating: 4)
Despite the German marketing, the processed sausage served at Schallers bears little resemblance to sausage in Germany. Still, its better than the average NYC hot dog. -
Review 43 (2019-08-28 - Rating: 5)

Review 49 (2022-08-12 - Rating: 5)
Wheelchair outside was makeshift on a bench eating, due to bar height tables offered in outside setting but, the sausage was so tasty! -
Review 50 (2020-11-02 - Rating: 5)
Some of the best hot dogs and fried chicken I’ve ever had. The food was quick to come out and during these cold months they have a few seats inside with a heater so you can escape the cold. During these COVID times its one of the few places as of now where you can get a quick bite and duck inside instead of eating outside. -
Review 51 (2022-09-22 - Rating: 4)
Great food, quick service. Just a window and tables at the side, but you don’t need much else. Sides aren’t the best, but not the worst. -

Thanks Schallers for hooking me up with a me up with these bad boys. The gilligan sweet and spicy chicken sausage on the left 👌 and pit master all beef hot dog on the right 💪. This sausage bar should be your go-to for to-go in the UES. Be sure to tip 😉 -

Review 68 (2024-02-14 - Rating: 4)
Great curry wurst. Annoying menu. Note difference between pretzel (bigger pretzel shape) and pretzel bun (smaller log shape) when ordering as the bun is included in order and the pretzel is extra charge… too many signs. -

Quick order, short wait, great sausage! -
Review 94 (2019-04-28 - Rating: 5)
Delicious tiny sausage stand connected to the German market next door. Pretzels and potato pancakes are good, as is the fried chicken and pretty much any of the sausages. Partial to the currywurst personally, but their mustard is amazing. Sometimes a long wait on the weekends but service is generally quick. -
Review 95 (2019-04-24 - Rating: 5)
Love this place, the best in all food Germany. I got sausages, pretzels, cucumber salad and German potato salad. All for dinner tonight. Just great service too. -
Review 96 (2021-08-15 - Rating: 5)
We made a special trip to this place after doing research because she was craving for it, and I must say we were not disappointed...😋 -
Review 97 (2019-10-17 - Rating: 4)
Sausages and pretzel were good. Only complaint is if you get the die Wurst Platte, you just get sausages on a bed of sauerkraut or cabbage, per your preference. I guess it doesnt say you get a bun on the menu, but I kind of expected buns and was kind of underwhelmed there. -
Review 98 (2017-04-07 - Rating: 5)
Awesome fast German fusion (not something you see often!) The Saigon Special is so good! Plus they have beer and are open relatively late. A+! -

Sausage tasted really good, had the Rueben Stuben, going back to try the other selections -
Review 104 (2018-08-05 - Rating: 4)
The food is really good and very reasonably priced. It loses a star on the $8 for an 8 oz of beer in a plastic cup. Beer with bratwurst seems perfect but drink elsewhere. -

Never thought Id rave about a hot dog spot, but here we are. Amazing! -

I want to say this is the best sausage bar in NYC, but how many of those are there? The sausages are obviously standouts but they also have small but excellent selection of beers to wash down. -

The best place to have a hot dog on the Run during the Steuben Day Parade Solomon Webers the best place to buy authentic German food on 86th Street on the east side of Manhattan -
Review 113 (2017-08-11 - Rating: 4)
I do like the sausages , again not Germany level , but good for the city . They cook the sausages that you can buy in the butcher next door , I believe that you can but all in the place next door maybe except the beer 🍻 ... Pretzels are also nice . I dont really like the sausage buns . During the summer they put some tables outside during rest of the time you have some places inside. Not good for groups . Good for a quick bit . -

This place is really cool, but a terrible place to hang out as there is literally no space to stand.I got the special, which was basically a chili dog german style (using brauenwurst) with onions. I also got a fried chicken leg, which I didnt think was spiced as nicely as I wouldve liked. This place is good, but I dont know if it is as good as some of the other German bratwurst places I have had. (as in midtown beer halls)It looks a lot better than it actually tastes. I might come back to try the curry wurst...but I dont know if upper east side is the best place for German food (this is coming from someone who had the best bratwurst in Dresden at a stand selling it for 2.50 Euros...) -

Can you say sausage!! And everything that can be done with meat can be done with Beyond Meat’s sausages which are delicious! Can be a bit of a line, but peruse the market next door to kill time! -

I love brats and sausages but currywurst is my fave in Germany and they do a proper one along with unique and inventive takes on sausage sandwich’s.Hope the Choripan returns as it’s top class. -

Definitely pricey and that alone would normally drop a star but Stubes sausages are delicious enough for me to ignore the price...a little. If you arent scared of some heat the Saigon is the wave. -
