    We absolutely loved our experience at State Grill and Bar in New York! The steak was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and simply outstanding.     I loved it here - Im in NY for a week for work and found this was a perfect Saturday night treat myself option. I was looking at the menu outside and a previous customer told me to go in and that it was amazing, he was correct! Really fantastic service from beginning to end, also super efficient and quick. The steak was divine and definitely recommending to others. Thanks for having me team, Ill definitely be back!

    Decent quality food in a classy but not stuffy setting at not crazy prices. I popped in here for a treat on my own during a business trip. Ordered the shrimp cocktail (my first american style shrimp cocktail) and a new york strip with the broccoli side. The shrimp cocktail was delicious. Huge shrimp, really tasty sauce, and a fun ESB-shaped bowl. I asked for the steak medium rare and it was distinctly medium so it wasnt the softest or generally best steak Ive ever had but was nice enough. The broccoli was a touch under done while distinctly charred. Id have maybe preferred it a bit more evenly cooked. Both the broccoli and steak were slightly under seasoned with no salt and pepper on the table, so had to ask for S&P. Not major slip ups that were at all enough to significantly dent the overall experience but notable nontheless. Nice dimly lit setting with cosy but not cramped feel. Quality table lamps a nice touch ($180 a piece). Attentive but not fussy staff. Meal price was $112 ($42 for the steak) with a beer as well. Not too bad for the location and quality of food.

    Conveniently located inside the ESB, this spot is perfect for a team lunch. You don’t need reservations, and there’s usually no wait during lunchtime. The steak frites were good, and the salmon wasn’t bad either. I’m looking forward to trying the lobster rolls next time. The service was excellent.

    Dined on a Friday night with my friends that I have not seen in years. Jay was AMAZING!!! Super chill, patient and kind. We were there 5½ hours and spent over $400. It was worth it!!! Food was really good! We would come back again. Thanks Jay for making it an awesome reunion for us! Youre so fantastic!!!!

    Wow - one of the best dinners we had in NYC! We didnt go up to the top of the ESB but the STATE Grill and Bar is not to be passed by!Our server Jantony made our experience all that much more fun and was really great to us throughout the evening. We enjoyed the food, the ambiance, the drinks, and just the overall time we got to spend in such a beautiful spot.10/10 would recommend and will definitely be back next time Im in the big Apple!

    Enjoyed a delicious meal after a great broadway show at State bar and grill. Ernesto our waiter was wonderful! The wagyu beef pigs in a blanket simply delicious! My NY strip steak was cooked to perfection and the Brussel sprouts were outstanding combination of sweet and spicy in their homemade sauce. I will definitely be returning in the future.. drinks were on point! We sipped on two delicious cocktails and what better way to end a meal then with espresso martinis!

    Very good service, food and atmosphere. We were a party of 7 with reservations and they were able to accommodate us and wait for two of our guests who arrived nearly 30 minutes after us due to delays exited the Empire State Building.

    Quiet. Beautiful setting. Wonderfully enthusiastic and warm server. The water glasses are gorgeous. The food was excellent. We had the truffle chicken sandwich (done on a brioche bun - the only way to go), pink lentil soup finished with coconut yogurt and mushroom shwarma. We finished with the Brooklyn Blackout Cake which was easily the *best* rendition of a layered chocolate cake we have ever had. Bravo. We are definitely coming back the next time we visit NYC!

    Wasnt expecting much from a place in the Empire State Building (how could it not be a tourist trap?) but was pleasantly surprised. I had a great pitted fruit salad with salmon and a Mermaid pilsner. I even got some work done! The coffee was nothing great. Excellent service, seamless and friendly.

    Pretty darn good. I had the Lobster pot pie, was very Lobster filled, but the peas in it were on the dry side. That dish 4*s. For desserts the cookie platter I felt was lacking, the Kong is awesome, the chocolate cake was also amazing.My brother had the NY strip steak and it was awesome with a lobster tail, again awesome. Service was very good, my water glass was never left alone.Cool bathrooms below the restaurant.

    Wow... mind blowing dinner. The atmosphere in the restaurant is classic sophisticated. I could imagine Sinatra eating there back in his day. Lighting was dim, but absolutely wonderful. There was wven little lamps on each table that gave off light that had the same brightness as a candlelight dinner.We ordered the calamari and the texture of it was perfect (not extra chewy like I am used to). The coating on it is even better. Seriously, I would order just a bowl of that and be happy. The peppers were also cooked in the same coating and they gave just a tad bit of heat. So, be careful, you might expect to bite into a peice of calamari, but actually bite a pepper. For dinner I ordered swordfish with the risotto. The risotto was al dente, maybe even a little less than that. I still enjoyed it. The swordfish was incredible, and definitely fresh. The aroma was fresh off the grill. My dinner companion ordered the salmon which was also clearly fresh. Like... eating next to a river in Alaska fresh.For desert, we shared the limoncello and blueberry tart. The tart portion was creamier than any tart I ever had and the blueberry sauce was fermented for a week (I know, sounds like it would be rough... it was not). The blueberries themselves tasted fresh from the farm. For drinks, we ordered Manhattans because... we were in Manhattan. I know, touristy. Youd be correct. Whatever. It was amazing. Then we had old fashioneds. Super. Nuff said.The service was extraordinary. When something we ordered was brought to te table, we were given a rundown of what went into each dish. The staff gave a sense of genuine pride in the restaurant and it thriving as a business. Hard not to be extremely impressed by State Grill& Bar

    I took my family on New Years Eve for a fixed menu. The food was amazing, the best steak my boys have ever eaten. As a vegetarian the past was fresh and tasty too. We ended the meal with espresso martinis. They were perfect and the cocktail glass was amazing, I wanted to bring one home.

    We same here because of the Empire State building package where it includes tickets to the 86th and 102th floors with a 3 course meal here at State Grill and Bar. We were thoroughly impressed with everything. The decor, service, food, and atmosphere. The menu quite diverse for a fixed priced menu. The crab cake and the desserts were the highlight of the meal. Highly recommend it to all visitors to New York if you decide to go up to the Empire State Building.

    The New York strip steak and the Brussels sprouts tasted so divine that my eyes rolled back in my head, I started floating, and I saw the face of God. You’re insane if you miss the chance for this fine dining experience. Jay and the manager both helped us feel welcome and attended to all evening. You won’t regret this experience or the food.

    Most delicious meal. Jay, our waiter, was fantastic! He was so courteous and attentive. Couldnt ask for better food or better staff! I have a severe nut allergy and the care and attention put into making sure my food was safe was so appreciated. Highly recommend checking this place out!

    We are new at the building but from the first moment I ate here for lunch, I havent stopped eating here. I love everyone who works here, Anna, Deborah, Ariana, Roni, Annie and the chefs are all great. Cant forget the chefs 😉 I know I missed a few. This place is my go to for everything, lunch, dinner or drinks, even business. This place does not disappoint ❤️

    I wish I remembered the name of the host. She was phenomenal! Upon arrival, her service and professionalism was the best I’ve seen. Personable as well. I would recommend this place to everyone I know. The food is to die for. Try the calamari!!!!!!!

    I was very VERY impressed with this restaurant!The service was excellent, quick, polite, considerate, friendly.The food was so delicious!!     Great service! Absolutely exceptional dining experience. I was a little underdressed, coming from a jobsite, but they seated us and treated my party with some of the best service I’ve had dining. Excellent location for a business meeting in midtown. The food was great as well; my buddy had the short-rib, it looked phenomenal; I had the salmon it was amazing and perfectly cooked.All around this restaurant is one of the best places in midtown of a business dinner.

    This was the best restaurant in NY all around for me! The restaurant itself was cute and made delicious food but our waiter made the entire night special! He brought a cake out and even sang Happy Birthday to me! I wish I could remember his name to sing his praise for making this a very memorable night for my significant other and I! Its tucked right on the bottom floor of the empire state building which was an awesome experience in itself!! Recommend to anyone traveling to NY on a touristy kind or trip!

    We just had a lovely meal here tonight. The filet mignon was to die for. Beautifully seasoned and rested to perfection. Service was friendly and very welcoming. Prices were very reasonable considering the location.The maitred was old school❤️ You could tell he loved the good he was presenting.     We went to the State Grill and Bar as part of our Empire State Building ticket, and what a delicious choice we made. The menu we were able to choose from was deliciously prepared and excellently executed. The steak was perfectly cooked, the oysters were sumptuous, the brussels were perfectly cooked and dessert was divine. The atmosphere was so lovely and the service was expert level.     Man, how can you not give the swankiest restaurant in the Empire State Building 5 stars? Good looking place. The dude who took our order was wearing a SUIT. My son is an extreme connoisseur in the ways of the burger, and he is pretty close to admitting that he liked their burger. Ill ask again tomorrow. The fries that came with that burger are an accomplishment. Its like they figured out how McDonalds does it, and they evolved the process just little. So, good fries. I had a bite of my wifes salmon, and made an involuntary sound in response to the WHAM of flavor.

    I went here for a work event and I have to say the food and service were fabulous. Upon arrival the hostess accompanied me to my area downstairs where I checked in and the server (after being seated) asked what I wanted to drink. The food was delicious.. Salad was fresh the pasta was super good but the desert omg tasty to say the least. The server always had my glass of wine full and offered to put my cake in a to go bin for me.. service was a 10. I would recommend this place. Wish they gave access to the top of the Empire State Building since we dined here lol

    My friend and I wanted the lamb, but the owner/manager was told by his chef that it wasnt edible. He insisted that we order something else and it was on him!!     Impeccable steakhouse that feels high-end but still very approachable, at the foot of the mighty Empire State Building. Have dinner here and then conveniently ascend to the top of the iconic building for an unforgettable NYC night view. You won’t regret it. We had many dietary restrictions and our waitress carefully helped us pick food that we ended up enjoying, in a quiet elegant setting steps away from the busy street. Will definitely return!

    Honestly I wish I could give more than 5 stars! The service was fantastic, my partner and I got the special which included a starter, entree, and desert as well as a drink which was well worth the money. The food was fantastic the lamb was delicious cooked at the chefs recommendation and the lobster ravioli was amazing as well. I wish we would have gone on a day where the Empire State Building was a different color because they have a special desert dish that changes depending on the color the Empire State Building is that day but that desert was amazing as is as well. The only thing we were confused by was the tip. Our check included 20% gratuity which is not very common and so it was a little confusing. But the excellent service and delicious food makes it well worth the cost.

    I was there yesterday evening and the food was delicious. From the appetizers to Desert. The evenings little Samplers from the chef were beyond amazing, it was a flavor explosion in my mouth. The staff was great fresh warm bread coming around the tables not just once like some places. The assistant manager that was there was a fantastic fantastic host. Ill be telling everyone I know coming in the area that that is a must go to place, and I will be back

    Treated ourselves to a nice dinner for New Years Eve in Manhattan after heading to the top of the Empire State Building at sunset. Enjoyed the holiday price fixe menu that included bread, appetizer, main course, dessert, and prosecco toast. Food was excellent, service was outstanding. Look forward to going again if ever in NYC!

    Lovely dining on the ground floor of the ESB. The staff are attentive and accommodating and the food is carefully prepared and delicious. Weve enjoyed our dining experiences here and highly recommend the calamari appetizer. A window seat is recommended if you want to see better as the lighting is rather dim.

    I visited New York for the first time. Was a little nervous as to finding the right spots for me to eat! This place was one of the best. Justin, our server was amazing!     Absolutely fabulous meal, the food was really tasty and well worth the $60 each. lovely staff who made us feel very welcome.     Dinner was amazing - we both enjoyed the classic Caesar salad (warning - real anchovy fillets) and steak frites medium rare with a side of delicious oyster mushrooms.     We were able to be seated earlier than our reservations were for. Its a limited menu, but each selection available doesnt disappoint. Our server was phenomenal and attentive, drinks were brought out quickly and were delicious. Were more than accommodating with someone in the party who has severe nut allergy, not only did the server verify restrictions and abilities of the kitchen staff but the manager also came to the table to explain the process that was completed to ensure safety. The steak frites was divine. Well be back!

    I had the pre paid add to your visit lunch. Nothing about it felt like an offer. The service was impeccable, advice when I asked for it, offer to up grade but no pressure to add to my order.Its was very tranquil after all the excitement and bussle of exploring the empire state building its self and gave me the opportunity to see parts that are not in the main tour.The food was lovely and their is a great cocktail selection if you fancy a cheeky tipple plus all the normal wines, spirts ect.So glad I chose to finish my trip off here.

    This is a great place right by the Empire State Building, the food was fantastic, I had the Porcini Encrusted Filet which came with a sauce with such depth and flavour. We were there on a Thursday night so was quiet.. would recommend!

    We were so impressed with our dining experience at STATE! Our food was so delicious, I loved every bite! We ordered the fried calamari and salad to start and I loved their take on the calamari, the coating was different but so good! I had a burger and my husband had a steak and we both loved our dinner and we loved how piping hot our food was upon serving. We heard the table next to us rave about the brussel sprouts so we ordered them, and equally incredible. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about wine pairing and my husband was very happy with his choice. We told our waiter that we had just found out the gender of our baby right before coming to dine and the wonderful manager surprised us with two beautiful desserts to celebrate that absolutely made me cry of happiness. It is just the little things that make restaurants so special and that to us was such a big thing. We will absolutely return and bring friends and family because this experience was above and beyond what you typically get at Manhattan restaurants. Thank you to our wonderful waiter and manager, great job!

    We had a delicious meal after visiting The Empire State Building. Initially we couldn’t find the restaurant and were directed to the Mexican restaurant. We decided to leave as it we were expecting fine dining. We then realised we had been in the wrong restaurant re the Mexican restaurant. The steak we had was delicious and I’ve never had calamari taste as good. We are visiting from the UK and have family in the USA. I will highly recommend State restaurant. It’s a lovely restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. The serving staff were very attentive and chatty. It was just the perfect restaurant after a long day. Well Done a lovely restaurant.

    We are NYC locals and got given this dinner out as a gift! I thought it was a tourist trap but was really surprised. It was super chill, the staff were so friendly and helpful offering really good advice for our food orders (eg. How to best order your steaks). The portions were very generous too. On top of that the food was delicious and such good value for money! We had the Caesar Salad, Calamari, Fillet Mignon and NY Strip Steak with Mac & Cheese and fries. Everything was soooo good! The New York Mule Cocktail was ace too! We will definitely be back!

    We found the quality of the food very good with natural ingredients and nicely put together plates. Wholesome comfort food is how I would describe it. The place is clean and sharp, tables spaced appropriately for ambiance but also privacy. The service was excellent, or waiter Jay was nice and friendly with just the right level of familiarity to make us comfortable and welcomed but also let my wife and I the intimacy we wanted.     We went for the observatory set dinner menu. 3 courses, with lots of great choices including soft drinks and coffee. Made a reservation for the building tour and restaurant, so, after the tour, the wife and I drag in there with jeans, jackets and skull caps on. Hostess didnt even bat an eye and promptly sat us. We looked around-- all business professionals, really high-end clientele. This was no big-attraction-novelty restaurant. This was the real deal.     Food was fantastic!! The decor is a little odd and almost diner-like, but its highly stylized and probably just about preference. Our waiter was a little sleepy and not really cut out for this restaurant. As far as the food goes - each dish was beautifully crafted and tasted awesome, with huge portions.
