    Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It does get really hard to hear even though there isn’t music blasting. The pork chop was good but I wish the eggplant rigatoni had more eggplant in it. I thought it only had tomatoes at first. I got the small plate which is good for a single serving, I think the large would be great for sharing.For dessert we got the baked Alaska and it was delicious! Wish we had more room to try out the other desserts. Server was super nice and friendly.

    The cacio e pepe ($18 + tax for appetizer serving) is well-reviewed, and rightfully so. tessas menu feels intentional, and the service is very quick.i have tried many cacio e pepes, but tessas has to be near the top of the list. its fancy features werent there for the sake of it; that much is obvious. the basil crunch and parmesan foam were creative and genuinely added something. anything cheesy with breadcrumbs is good, and the basil made it even better. the parmesan foam had a broth texture that made the carb dish feel light. the plating was stunning. its a must-try!

    Excellent cooked food. Salmon and shrimp scampi was great. Tuna tartare also excellent. Apple crumble and donut deserts both excellent. Good service.

    Looking for a great Mediterranean bronzino and delicious salads try Tessa! Delicious fresh and moist bronzino served with fingerling potatoes and a cauliflower mash. Also try the Pear Arugula Salad. Fantastic. Don’t forget to pair the tasting with a nice glass of the Montepulciano. Enjoy! 🍷

    Former chef, and I would say possibly best salmon dish Ive had in a restaurant. Most enjoyed meal Ive had in NYC. My wife had the duck. It was also very well prepared and flavourful... Obviously, I had to steal a couple bites... good cocktails too. Just writing this review is making me want to go back. If you want a beautiful restaurant with great ambience and isnt a tourist trap....hit this place up.

    I am rating this to help other people, given that many old places strangely don’t have many reviews on Google anymore and many new restaurants have stellar reviews but end up being horrible.So when tasked with finding a place for a night out, I really had to scratch my head, and I meticulously went through both positive and negative reviews and looked at the pictures from restaurants.My experience at Tessa was consistent with the overall rating, and I am giving this place solid four stars. I would upgrade it to a 4.5 stars spot if it was an option.Here is what I liked:1. VIBE. The place looks really nice inside and appeared busy over the weekend but not too overcrowded, and you still could hear the person you were talking to.2. FOOD. They serve interestingly cooked mussels, which I really enjoyed. It is an item from the appetizer section but it’s actually a pretty big, sharable plate. Strongly recommend this one!3. WAITER. He was nice, positive and polite and relatively fast. When I absolutely didn’t like the wine called ORANGE (it’s actually orange and tastes a bit like kombucha but I wanted it to taste like wine), he changed it and let me try two other wines to ensure I am happy with my choice on the second try.I wouldn’t say that there was anything I strongly disliked. The thing with the orange wine was a bit disappointing but, again, because of how the waiter handled it, it didn’t ruin the whole experience. I also had a shrimp pasta, and it was an ok one, but there was nothing really exciting about it. I oftentimes cook the same at home, and when you go out, you (sorta) want the food to be a bit more impressive compared to what you can make yourself.I’d say this place is a pretty safe choice for a dinner with a close friend or a date.

    Recommend making reservations because we came here on Saturday night for dinner and it was crowded. Because this restaurant is amazing. Service is fast and the staff is so friendly. Great UWS restaurant where locals dine and good to bring friends or go for date night. The dinner was kind of pricey but delicious delicious!

    Cute and trendy but still cozy. Good variety of wines by the glass. The snap pea salad is tangy with a hint of sweetness on top of a light, creamy cheese that you hope will never end. Delicious. Shrimp scampi is yummy and satisfying. Good neighborhood spot.

    The Cacio E Pepe with Shrimp, Truffle fries and 2 Happy Hour cocktails: Yuzu Passionfruit Sidecar and Ginger Berry Margarita. Everything was phenomenal, including the amazing waitress that took care of us.The lighting was such a vibe during the afternoon, relying on the sunlight shining through the windows onto the brick walls in the elevated part of the restaurant ✨ Will definitely be coming back!

    This was my 2nd visit to TESSA. I absolutely love this spot. Great staff, delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, and fantastic service. Highly recommend. Make sure to ask for Ike! Hes fantastic!

    The bolognese is AMAZING! I love that you can get 2 different sizes of the pastas depending on if you are sharing. Sitting at the bar was perfect as a solo diner. The bartenders were very attentive and nice.

    Cacio e Pepe is one of the best dishes Ive EVER had. We were able to have small plates of several dishes. All of the food was very good; however, the Cacio e Pepe is cant miss!! Enjoy!!

    My wife and I recently went, and aside from a delay in our initial order being taken had a fantastic time. The portions are generous, the prices are moderate for the area, and the food was very tasty. The manager was very understanding and accommodating when he swung by to way hi. Good back room for medium-sized groups of people (8-16 by my guess). Will go again!

    All around excellent date night spot. Stopped by early in the evening, and we were pleasantly surprised by the first come first serve bar seating. Service was attentive and friendly, even though all the bar staff were extremely busy. The food came out quickly and was delicious. I went with the duck breast and it was succulent and juicy. My fiancée opted for the bartender recommendation, the hanger steak (with broccoli rabe as a substitute for the side) and wow - the flavors and textures were spot on! Would definitely dine here again, maybe next time will opt for the happy hour (4pm-6pm).

    I cannot state enough just how delicious the food is here !!! Soooooooooo good !!     This place is totally worth it for the Happy Hour drinks. The cocktails are amazing and the bar tenders make it with a lot of passion whether HH or not. The food is also great. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer (delicious), also I have had the pastas before here and they are great as well. Happy hour is only at the bar from 4-6 and gets filled quickly. I would recommend getting here around 4.30 if you want to take advantage of the HH

    As soon as you walk into Tessa you feel as though youve stumbled upon a hidden gem that you desperately want to keep secret! Perfect for a dinner with the parents, supper before a show at the Beacon theater, or a date, Tessas ambiance is trendy without trying too hard. The inside is low lit and romantic but also more cavernous than it appears from the outside. Our server was wonderful and suggested superb wine and meal choices. My friend and I split the Watermelon salad (which was divine) and then I had the greatest plate of shrimp scampi pasta I have ever had! I cleaned my plate and have been dreaming about going back since! My friend got the Tuna Ceviche and raved about it! I will definitely be returning! This is definitely a hot spot to take note of if youre on the UWS.

    Great evening.... They had my rare wine at the bar while we sat there, then great small plates at dinner. Very attentive to my water glass without my asking, which I loved! Delicious shrimp scampi, half size was plenty after fried cauliflower appetizer. Lots of attractive desserts at decent prices. All very very very good! Bread was great and served with a combo of butter and oil... Unique in my experience! Overall a little pricey but it was mostly the wine prices! I recommend this place highly!

    We walked into this restaurant without looking at reviews and it was a very pleasant surprise. The environment was very nice and had a good character with exposed breaks. The staff were friendly and attentive but not intrusive. We got the Octopus which was delicious and perfectly cooked and grilled. The soup was also fantastic. Their wine list was very good as well. All in all I highly recommended this place.

    Terrific Mediterranean food at TESSA! We really enjoyed our meal and the service at this Upper West Side restaurant. Knew nothing about it when we went in the pandemic. But were happy with everything from the burrata appetizer to multiple desserts. Can’t wait to return.

    I had to write a review because we had such a lovely meal. I had come from a horrible service interaction with Apple and this was the exact opposite. I accidentally made the reservation for 2 instead of 4. The staff quickly accommodated and were lovely and gracious. The food was delicious especially the artichokes and the watermelon salad. The sorbet was yummy. Start to finish a great experience. Thank you for a wonderful evening

    Amazing Amazing AmazingThe wife and I went out to TESSA for Valentines Day and Im glad we did. We had reservations so we didnt have to wait despite them being full. Everything was perfect. The service, the attention to detail, the food and the drinks were all perfect. A must for special occasions and cute dates.

    Have been twice for brunch and really enjoyed it. Food is fresh and relatively light; even the fluffy pancakes arent an overindulgence. Make your own benedict is a winner; more restaurants should implement this. Bread and pastry basket is nothing special and overpriced. Service is friendly. The space is beautiful, particularly in the morning light.

    Ended up having dinner and Sunday brunch here in one weekend and enjoyed my experience both times. Waiters were well informed and helpful about gluten free options, and service was good. The place gets super crowded so even though it’s large reservations are a must. They just opened a sister restaurant called Asset a few blocks away to handle overflow.

    UPDATE: I came back here today and they still had the branzino and OMG I am glad I did. The dish was exquisite. The mango mojito is still sinfully delicious and service was excellent. Also the rnb and soul music selection played in the background is so relaxing.Review from 10 months ago (3 stars rating): Relatively flavorful food, delicious mojito and excellent service. The bronzino is very popular and they ran out of it by the time I ordered. I was not too happy about that. I picked some salmon instead and it was fresh and relatively flavorful. The chocolate tart was too decadent for my taste.

    Ive been going to Tessa every time I visit NYC since they opened. It has always been very good but somehow gets better and better. I was just there a few days ago and the food was AMAZING!     The bussing staff are killing it. The food was delicious. Our server was ok. Never came to check if our food was ok. The front door/hosting staff were just there to hang out and did not give one hoot to be helpful. We had a stroller and they couldnt be bothered to stop chatting and help open the door. Unfortunate because otherwise this place is great.

    I really enjoyed everything about this experience. The place can tend to get loud but we were lucky enough to get the table all the way in the back which helps with that. All of the food Superior and the drinks were great. Wonderful service and an overall wonderful experience.

    One of my absolute favorites on the UWS for happy hour, and meeting friends for drinks. Sometimes we just stop in for a nice evening glass of wine. They close at 11 and all-day Monday. Happy hour is Tuesday - Friday 11-6.Tessa, owned by the same people that own Asset this location is on Amsterdam. Same cool vibe, same cool ambiance, and same great food and drinks.Truffle fries are to die for. Bursting with Flavor and topped with fresh parmesan.The octopus was fabulous, so moist and tender.Green Mussels are cooked in a cilantro, tomato garlic, and white wine sauce with a touch of coconut milk.I hear weekend brunch is very good too. Just a cool local place.

    Tessa is an Italian gem in the heart of the UWS. Everything was fresh and their happy hour is a steal. Be warned their happy hour is BAR ONLY! We found out the hard way but the drinks were delicious and so was the food so we let it slide.Pictured below is the Octopus appetizer, Lobster Diablo pasta, and the Cavateli pasta

My server whom i called my love/lovey cause i completely forgot the name was absolutely amazing 🫶 even our busser that served us our waters was amazing!!We had a reservation here for my friends wedding they took good care of us! Even gave us a vase for the bouquet 💐Loved my cacio penne (completely forgot how to spell that) and fell in love with burratta!Overall experience here was 11/10 ☺️Note: their strawberry mimosas are fire.

    Tessa was so amazing, food was delish, Rose was ice cold and dessert was the icing on the cake. I highly recommend this place for dinner with friends or your love interest. It was safe, tables were protected by distance and dividers between tables were placed as well. The staff was super professional and knew a lot about the drink menu. Great choice. Get out NY.

    Tessa is one of the best in the UWS. There is no other place similar to it. They always have a creative cocktail menu. The specials are off the charts and everyday there is something new. The staff is friendly and efficient, have a good sense of teamwork.

    Ambiance was great. Chilled vibes: the waiter knew exactly when to enter and when to exit. Appetizer (tuna tartar) was pretty good. Main course (steak frites) was cooked to perfection.     Tessa has one of the best bars on the UWS and a fab happy hour until 6pm weekdays. If you can sneak out early or meet a business colleague for a drink and a bite of delicious food - Tessa is a great place to go. My favorite foods are the meatballs, burrata salad, and shishito peppers - and dont forget to ask for bread...they serve it with the smoothest butter/olive oil combo youve ever had!

    This place is a gem. My go to for brunch on the UWS. Delicious, build your own eggs benedict option is great, you got to try the lemon arancini it’s the best thing that has happend to eggs benedict ever. Delicious!     Ive been to Tessas before and it is still a favorite. I stopped in after a 5 hour drive to the city. The server and hostess were attentive to me from the moment I walked in till I left. I ordered a Truffle Flatbread and enjoyed every bite. The egg is a unique addition that gave so much flavor. The interior decoration is modern and clean, the drinks I was served were perfectly blended. I loved it so much, I ended up there again the next day. I had the gnocchi bolognese and a Moscow Mule for lunch and loved every bite. I highly recommend going to Tessas for your meal at any time of the day.
