    Friendly midtown east Irish bar. Nice atmosphere. Super friendly, super Irish’s bartenders. Nothing special with the beer list, but I’m sure they pour a great Guinness. As far as IPAs, they had the standard Lagunitas, Harpoon, and Goose Isl. I liked the pennies on the bar too.

    TLDR: the pot pieUpon arrival in the city late last night, we were greeted by hand woven tales of the Black Sheep. In utter disbelief of the praise I was hearing, I reached out to the Oracle, Google itself, for more information. I found countless praise for an unexpected contender, the Chicken Pot Pie, so I made a mental note to explore this enigma the very next day. Already satiated by the likes of copious street meat, Margaritaville and subway mangoes, we arrived at the promised land itself. Our bartender, disinterested as she was attentive, jotted down our order of happy hour beers and the famed Chicken Pot Pie itself as I made my way to the bathroom. I swear it was itself made of urine. Unabashed by the dismal restroom experience, I sat at a corner table and downed my first Modelo. Brimming with anticipation, I ordered a second with the intent of washing down the glory that was to come. It soon did. Like a perfectly executed reverse play, the cook handed it off to the server, who in turn placed it delicately upon our table. The presentation was immaculate, it looked like a soft golden football, and it was leaking steam from the thin cracks in its surface. I eagerly reached for the spoon before me and dismembered its exterior with as much respect as I could muster, barring any of my fragile human ego. As soon as the first morsel touched my tender lips, I knew the stories were true. I heard songs, praise, stories of long forgotten triumph. My eyes rolled back and my tongue did backflips. It was pure ecstasy. I tried to contain my excitement, but it was a losing battle. We vigorously devoured this monument of culinary excellence without hesitation. Black Sheep? Aptly named. An unexpected excursion into the depths of the fine dining experience that New York has to offer.Thank you to our Ray of Sunshine for speaking of such a hole in the wall. We owe you our lives.

    Great food selection and nice variety of drinks available. The bartenders here are excellent, and are very attentive to your needs! They’ve always made me feel welcome. Some of the best service in midtown.

    One of the top places in midtown. Everyone is awesome Kelly , Angie , Kate , Ellie and Stephanie. Also stop by and see Tom the owner. If people gave a bad review I can assure you the problem is the person writing. Food and service is great. Even the cooks are great. Go visit.

    I really enjoy this bar! I’d like to note that you’ll get the best experience if Kate and Ellie are working. I’ve been to many bars in the city. Kate and Ellie are by far the gold standard of excellent customer service. My only complaint about the black sheep is the lack of bouncers in the bar. Most (if not all) of the bartenders here are female and I see them being harassed by the occasional rude patron. I think a bouncer would make the black sheep a perfect bar.

    Have been coming here since I was a little girl . The penny bar is a classic New York landmark . The cocktails are always great and service is good . The happy hour is a great find and hard to find a 6.00 modelo in NYC . Don’t usually eat here , but always make it a point to stop in . The food does look good from what I always see coming out !

    Black Sheep is one of our go to restaurants. The food is above average for pub grub and the prices are more than reasonable. The staff is lovely. It is a great Irish pub and we highly recommend it!

    Amazing! So I went here Saturday 9/3/2022, there was an awesome bartender there, tall woman, never got her name, and I was actually unaware, but my female friend actually pointed it out to me, there were 2 guys to my right who were very friendly, like overly friendly to this woman who had had alot to drink, probably too much, and my friend pointed out that the bartender either said she was cut off, or something to tell the woman she’s okay, because the guys seemed a little fishy, essentially looking out for the woman, and if that’s how the bar takes care of people in it, that was amazing! I’m not really a bar person, but if I do go to one again, this will be my first choice! Stay awesome! ❤️ P.S. the hot wings were amazing 🤩

    Intimate little neighborhood Irish Pub. We were surprised at the extremely high quality of the food we had including my wifes salad and the French onion soup made with a chicken broth base instead of a beef bouillon which made it very different but very tasty. They have a great beer selection as well of course, being an Irish Pub

    I stopped in on a somewhat lonely night in the city. Not sure what I was looking for. Happy with what I found though. Place isnt uppity, and the bartender was very hospitable. Short girl with a cute accent in a Manning Jersey. If youre looking for decent company, a drink, and hot food this isnt a bad stop. I had shrimp fajitas for I think $12 or so bucks, and it was legitimately the best thing Ive had in the city during my stay. And Ive made some stops at much nicer restaurants than this pub. Ill probably come by a couple more times before I leave for home.

    It’s a place to relax and enjoy a drink with a pub meal. It’s a true feeling of happiness you enjoy all the way through in that setting. Hospitality of the staff is superb. Meals are fantastic. What more say. Don’t miss, be there if you happen to be at Manhattan.

    Lunchtime is crowded with working folk and a few office people. Daily specials offer heaps of fine food, and the chicken pot pie remains a classic. Good drinks and long, smooth happy hour helps the Black Sheep stay at the top.

    This place was a bit of a surprise. We had walked into one place, but for some reason decided against it (I dont remember why). Someone we met outside that place recommended the Black Sheep, and he wasnt wrong. The service was great, the food was great, and I had a couple of local beers. The waitress/bartender commented that we were the friendliest people in the place (were Canadian... Thats how we roll), and gave us our second round of beer on the house. She also invited us to do a shot with her as we were about to pay and leave.

    This place was recommended to me by the receptionist at the hotel I was staying at, as I wanted to have a drink someplace other than the hotel bar. It was early evening and about half a dozen people in, mostly around the bar. I was made to feel very welcome, and made a couple of friends that night. Service was great, with a friendly barmaid in whom I placed my trust to choose drinks. Returned two nights later - New Years Eve - and spent the night in the bustling party that was the Black Sheep that night. First time Id been to NYC, and first time Id tried Yuengling (sorry if mis-spelt) beer. Next time Im visiting the city Ill definitely be paying this pub a visit. Its like how most pubs in Britain used to be - friendly, fun and in possession of a soul. Most now are clones of one another, selling the same drinks with (mostly) indifferent service. If you are in the area, give this place a try.

    This place is a mixed bag. The buffalo wings could win a Nobel prize. Best wings of my life. This old hag waitress who runs the entire place basically throws the food at you and doesn’t know the word “hello.” But I keep coming back for the wings. Plain and simple- good value, rude and terrible service.
