Ah! The Duplex! Everything about this place screams good times! The first floor has an exit to the patio area and there is also a piano where all the good songs are being performed. The second floor, on the night when I was there had a drag performance. The drag in question is Pink Pancake (if I remember the name correctly) and she is one fierce performer! Definitely a must visit! -

Fun place - very talented people here. Unfortunately, bartenders are not very focused on serving those at the bar so would recommend drinking elsewhere beforehand. -
Review 4 (2022-02-27 - Rating: 4)
Cozy space in the upstairs Cabaret. Bathroom for the upstairs & downstairs bars, and cabaret are up at the top of the stairs and as one who needs a cane for supportv this isnt an ideal reality. Nevertheless, the show David Colemans CD release party was OffvThe Hook. He killed it. Buy his CD Let the Music Take Control. -

Great drinks, great music and great service! One of our favorite queer spots in the City, especially during the summer with their outdoor seating! -
Review 6 (2022-03-07 - Rating: 5)
Saw a really cool 2 person show here called 100 days. Really nice performance space for some an intimate play. Hung around and had drinks after. Decent prices and good energy. Little crowded (but where isnt on a Saturday.Wait staff was very friendly. Only critique is signage for the performance couldve been a little better. Would love to see the other shows put on here. The programs were done with a QR code. It wouldve been nice to have paper programs, but thats just my taste. Mixed drinks looked dangerously interesting. -

Absolutely loved this place! Super friendly bar staff, piano singalong was awesome! Bar woman singing while doing drinks was amazing. So so good! I wish we had something like this in Australia. Definitely a NYC highlight for me! -
Review 10 (2024-01-03 - Rating: 4)
I came around 7pm on Thursday a few weeks ago with some friends so we could chat. Upstairs was pretty chill and empty except for a bachelorette party, that ended around 8pm. A drag performer came on at 10pm and, although she was fabulous, it was just too loud for us to talk and we decided to call it a night. Ive been coming to Duplex for well over a decade so I knew what to expect. I do like that they have non-alcoholic liquors available and was served some tasty N/A cocktails, at very reasonable prices. It wasnt as busy as I remember it being in pre-covid days, which kinda threw me for a loop, but hey, now that Im older I appreciate having some breathing room :) -

Cool karaoke bar with good drink options. High energy and good singing, including the bar crew. -

Review 14 (2021-10-22 - Rating: 5)
Wish I could give this place 10 stars. Randomly walked by quite late on a Wednesday night and heard delightful cabaret/theatre style music played on a piano so I had to stop by. Entertainer did a lovely job of singing, playing piano and welcoming everyone in at once. So talented. They even let several customers get up and sing songs! Bartender Maria was incredible. She took care of multiple guests yet made everyone feel like the most special person in the room. On a personal note: I was having a rough day after traveling back home for a brief visit to NYC. She somehow made time to ask questions and make me feel better while running around and doing the same for other customers. If I still lived in the city I would be there every Wednesday. -

Review 17 (2021-12-28 - Rating: 5)
What a fun place! Paddy is such a TALENT on the piano and singing...kept the place going, with the best smile, all night! And the singing bartenders! Wow!!! Joseph, Ryan, and Abby are all POWERFUL performers!! They were so much fun! And the customers were encouraged to sing, too! I didnt want to leave! -

An amazing night out is always guaranteed with The Duplex. Their amazing drinks (strong!) and service is always with a smile.Come for the drinks but stay for the amazing singing and music, especially with T-Rex and Paddy on the Piano. The bathrooms are ok, clean enough and the attendant is really sweet.Security were friendly and polite, keeping us all safe.Bring cash for tips for songs if there is something you wish to be sung (or Cashapp / Venmo). -
Review 19 (2019-12-21 - Rating: 5)
This place was incredible! If I could give it 10 stars I would! The pianist that night was Brian I believe. He was so incredibly hilarious as well as mind-blowingly good with the piano. His people skills were great and I laughed the entire time I was there with just enough time in between jokes and songs to catch my breath and take a sip of my drink. -
Review 20 (2021-10-10 - Rating: 4)
Music and drinks were good, and the service was quick. I saw on the menu that gratuity of 20% was included in the tab on parties of all sizes. When I closed out, the price seemed a little high, but I went along with it. I didnt know the price of one of the drinks ordered, so I just shrugged it off and paid. The server handed me the payment device, and I noticed that on the tip section, 20% was pre-highlighted, as if that was the lowest option I had. However, I found out after I received the receipt that the original higher price was already including the tip, and I had double tipped 20%. It wasnt a huge deal since the server was nice, but make sure you review the tab closely before adding additional tip if you want. -
Review 21 (2023-07-02 - Rating: 5)
Erik is the fastest most amazing waiter we ever had. I ordered a drink and got it 1 minute later. He is a hustler and so amazing. -
Review 22 (2018-11-25 - Rating: 5)
My daughter, who lives in the area, suggested Duplex when I visited from Portland, Oregon last week. We were downstairs in the piano bar, where the music was awesome and the crowd was singing along and having a great time. The night we went the pianist was Will; hes SO good: he played and sang an astonishing variety of pieces, took requests, and accompanied some amazingly talented vocalists including the bartender, the waiter, the general manager, and several guests. I would have gladly stayed until closing, but had an early flight home the next morning; made it until nearly 2am then had to call it a night. Definitely hope to go back on my next visit -- Duplex was one of the highlights of the trip. Highly recommend!! -
Review 23 (2021-08-13 - Rating: 5)
Definitely a must if youre in town. Located in the heart of West Greenwich Village, The Duplex is not a just bar but a heavenly atmosphere. The whole staff is quite nice and friendly and you can always make your way downstairs to the piano bar if you feel like singing your heart out. Its true that prices go a bit higher than in other places in the area but hey, worth it. -
Review 24 (2023-11-28 - Rating: 4)
It is warm, welcoming and fun with super talented singing bar staff. Really had a great evening. -
Review 25 (2013-05-23 - Rating: 4)
A friend performed here for her birthday upstairs and it was lovely (note it required a two drink minimum). I cannot say much about the downstairs portion since we were not there, but overall I had a good time. Im not sure how difficult it is to acquire the space here to perform, but it seemed that all the guests had a great time. -
Review 26 (2018-01-30 - Rating: 5)
Really sweet bar with great people running it! Nice vibe too. I usually come to the stand up shows that take place upstairs and around. You need to purchase two drinks. Always makes me feel uncomfortable but what are you going to do.Ground level is the piano bar and Ive never participated yet but its definitely on my to do list. -
Review 27 (2018-01-09 - Rating: 5)
It was my very first time there and the piano bar gave a a huge wow. Every person in the bar can request song and Sing on stage with talented pianist playing. How amazing everyone can sing so well!! I was thrilled! Big love!!!! -
Review 28 (2018-12-25 - Rating: 5)
This is what New York should be. A place to have a drink with your friends or love ones. And listen to the piano singer and duets. -
Review 29 (2024-05-26 - Rating: 4)
Very expensive prices but nice atmosphere. Live music and great friendly waiters. -
Review 30 (2017-04-09 - Rating: 5)
Absolute favorite home style bar. Reminds me of our bars in England. The staff rarely change up which gives a lot of familiarity. You end up knowing everyones name by the time you leave and end up singing along with every song which are always performed by absolutely AMAZING singers.Must go if you like down to earth places with real down to earth people. -
Review 31 (2019-03-01 - Rating: 5)
I always have an amazing time when I go here. The music is your top 40, and current music dreams. Dancing can go down a little upstairs at the bar. They obviously have the piano bar down stairs which is awesome (gets real crowded) and then upstairs next to the bar/dance area they also have a cabaret room where my friends performed and created a cabaret recently which was super fun. -
Review 32 (2017-03-28 - Rating: 5)
I love love love this place. An intimate dive piano bar gem with an incredibly talented staff. They also invite audience members to sing with the piano player, but you better have the pipes to back up your request, this isnt your local karaoke bar. They do encourage audience sing-alongs. -
Review 33 (2018-12-07 - Rating: 5)
Great! Wonderful piano bar. Though they play such loud music...combating the live pianist!!! Martin Saint Lawrence the best.. as is Dan Daily. When O go out at night...I always stop in...Great place for out of towners..and to bring friends. -

Review 35 (2016-11-19 - Rating: 4)
This place is a party!Singing, dancing, the piano never stops and neither does the fun.On regular nights, you can feel free to ask the person on the piano for a request - or sing something yourself, they dont mind if you arent very good.Singer Spotlight nights, they carefully curate a playlist of pop songs and show tunes for local artists to perform. In between, they have events, shows, drag performances...This place has it all!Cocktails were a bit expensive, though -
Review 36 (2024-02-13 - Rating: 5)

Review 38 (2020-02-20 - Rating: 4)
My friend and I were here for a drink before watching a live show somewhere nearby. We were at the second floor. I saw a number of straight looking couples plus guys who were mostly by themselves. The night was still early. But I enjoyed my time here as usual. -
Review 39 (2022-02-03 - Rating: 5)
Masks and proof of vaccination including boosters are required and checked at the door. The cabaret was small and intimate holding about 50 people. The music of Jessie and Michael was absolutely fabulous. The only thing was that it took an hour to leave because of all the checks were payed after the program was over. There was also a mix up with my friends credit card and he had to search for the waitress to retrieve it. In spite of the issues I would definitely return. -
Review 40 (2017-01-14 - Rating: 5)
Some of the things I heard when I went to the piano bar for happy hour: Watch out people, the floor is drunk!, and Heres to single living, double seeing and triple sleeping!I had a couple of drinks and some good laughs to the beats of pop and Broadway songs. Very popular with the LGBT crowd. -
Review 41 (2017-05-09 - Rating: 5)
Good pours from a friendly staff, most of whom can also belt out a song or two. This gay bar welcomes all and youll hear some great voices and talented piano playing. -
Review 42 (2018-04-29 - Rating: 5)
This is my favorite bar on the PLANET! Everyone could sing so well. Showtunes were playing all night. In this small room full of men singing their hearts out to Les Miserables, I definitely cried. I’m pretty sure I cried to a Rent song too. I would return to NYC just to go to this bar! -
Review 43 (2022-04-22 - Rating: 5)
A lovely place to hang out, drink, and sing. What else can you ask for in life? This world is tough enough. Friendly staff and customers. Tip your bartenders and your piano players. -
Review 44 (2020-08-27 - Rating: 5)
Fantastic place, joyful people, superb vibe. Weve spent about 2-3 hours drinking, lauging and singing together with the staff, absolutely amazing place, thats a must see for open minded people. -
Review 45 (2013-10-12 - Rating: 5)
Great two-level space with (seasonal) outdoor seating right off the Christopher Street subway station. I mostly go for open mics with live piano accompaniment either downstairs with their baby grand or in their little cabaret theatre upstairs. The crowd is very diverse--gay, straight, asexual, confused, tourists, locals, etc. The drinks are good and reasonably priced, and the bar staff is excellent and they sing, too. -
Review 46 (2019-11-09 - Rating: 5)
A classic venue in New York for musical and comical Cabaret. Venue upstairs seats 72 and events and performances are ever-changing and incredibly unique one-of-a-kind consider yourself very lucky to go in and see any kind of show that’s been on here they’re all innovative all authentic and all for the love of art. Don’t be surprised if you see a famous Fais are stil don’t be surprised if you see a famous face or two. ;) -

This has become a Christmas night tradition for me. I go in with my urban family and just have a great time. I was sad to see Mostly Sondheim go, but I always have a great time regardless of what is showing.Great pianists and bartenders. -
Review 48 (2014-11-22 - Rating: 4)
I went here this past week for a friends cabaret in the theater upstairs. Its a great little theater with little tables and such. Theres a two drink min. which is per usual at this type of place. I am not sure how you could get a performance there but if a friend of yours is performing, go! It will be an intimate affair! -

Review 50 (2017-10-03 - Rating: 5)
This is one of my favorite spots in NYC. Thursday’s and Monday’s are the best when it’s singer spotlight. Lots of amazing Broadway stars randomly show up to sing to the crowd. Get there by 9 to get a table, otherwise it gets verrrry crowded. -
Review 51 (2019-01-02 - Rating: 5)
We were looking for the 55 bar, but the jazz was sold out (the bar is just a few square meters) and we ended in this lgbt place. Best decision, amazing pianist, he or she plays everything you ask for, great show. -

This was one of the first places I went to when landing in NYC in 2011. I love the Duplex for the clientele and the fact that it is a piano bar. Certain nights, upstairs, they are having cabaret shows with a two drink minimum as the price of admission. Very great place to be. Check it out.-blasianFMA -

Review 61 (2014-11-30 - Rating: 5)
One of the things I love about NYC is that you can live here forever and still stumble upon great new places that you never even knew existed! This was the case with Duplex in the West Village! I had walked by it a dozen times but never knew that within its walls, I might find a cabaret space, a piano bar and karaoke spot!Luckily, I found this out when my choir (The Gotham Rock Choir) held our cycles cabaret performance here this past month! Truly a diamond in the rough for those who are craving something a little bit more outside the box, this is definitely the spot to take out a music lover for an adventurous night out! -

We learned, after heading to the bathrooms upstairs, there is two very separate vibes upstairs and down. The upstairs is cabaret, and night club-esque, while the downstairs is a piano bar and more chit-chat with your counterparts and sing along. We stayed on the bottom floor.... for many many hours (had we known about the cabaret earlier, we may have started there and migrated down). We bellied up to the bar about 10pm, started making friends around 11pm, and headed out around 2am.The bartenders were attentive, fun to joke around with, and INCREDIBLE singers. Not living in NYC, this bar came as a recommendation I am so grateful for the recommendation. We will be back! -

Definitely a good time! Its is one of the oldest LGBT lounges and Sheridan square. Downstairs is the piano lounge a lot of Broadway and show tunes are some air. Upstairs usually there is weekly drag shows Tuesday night you can catch Miss Sherry pie turning it out of stairs. Drinks are a little pricey but theyre strong and the bartenders are very cute and very nice. Friendly atmosphere but also lots of tourists. Iive in this area so to me stopping there Im supporting local queens performing or Something like that. But if you are a tourist stopping in NYC check out this place! -

Oh my! The Dupe! Moons ago, went on Monday & Thursday nights (Broadway’s dark and the cool kids came- my then wife being one of them). Living a few blocks away, our front porch. Bill, Darius, Maria, etc… were awesome family. Welcomed our newborn daughter into the world. Awesome peeps, fun as hell, 100% of the staff came and sang/played piano with the rest of BWay at our wedding. As good as great folks get. Straight folks, don’t worry about anything- they loved to mess with me occasionally but all In hilarious, great taste. Don’t miss this opportunity to see serious talent and a great time in an awesome and (very lively)quaint environment! -

JD was great on piano and played every request. He also really worked the crowd and created a lively atmosphere even on a Monday night. The bartenders who accompanied JD on a few songs were also amazing. -

Im not sure they serve food, but its nice to see an old school bar/tavern still thriving. I went on a Friday and Monday night during a trip. The bartenders were fun, the music (YouTube playlist on Friday and live piano music on Monday) was great and even though the space is small, I would recommend it for after dinner drinks -

They charge 20% gratuity default, which is fine. But when closing bill, they directly went to tip screen instead of showing the receipt. I ended up double tipping and realized only later.Great music, loved PaddyOnThePiano! -
