We really enjoyed this speakeasy. Upstairs from the Five Guys. Great vibe and location to the village. Bar tender was super friendly and we had a great time while waiting for a show. -

Fun spot. Bustling. Good beers on tap. Creative & tasty cocktails. Everyone working there was cool... including the sweet guy checking IDs at the bottom of the stairs, fabulous host at the top, and professionals behind the bar. I bet they have a great holiday party. -
Review 3 (2024-04-07 - Rating: 4)
Cool speakeasy vibe bar above 5 guys. The man checking IDs at the bottom of the stairwell was nice, especially when the machine was taking forever to load. It’s best when it is crowded and there was a good choice of music. There’s not a lot of seating and the floor was sticky. Bartenders are super busy so you’ll have to wait a while for drinks but that’s understandable. They have a menu of their cocktails and beers and a good selection on tap. -

Impeccable expérience !! Please do yourself a favor and get the « it’s always sunnier in the west village » drink if you’re a whiskey fan: 10 / 10 -
Review 5 (2023-06-19 - Rating: 5)
Managed to be here off peak so my friends and I had a proper catch up in a cozy space with yummy cocktails. Had a proper tour and look of the place too in a quiet Sunday afternoon. Had ‘Charlie’s Angels’ which was a yuzu-based egg white drink ~yummy~ -

Incredible cocktails 🍸 Speakeasy (above Five Guys) with cozy seats and a view -
Review 7 (2024-04-06 - Rating: 4)
It’s giving .. college frat party vibes. honestly could see this as a good place to meet people but feel like trying. was bustling at like 10pm on a thursdaygo into the 5 guys, walk forward the counter, and stairs are to the left side (opposite the flight of employee only stairs)nice view of west village i guess -
Review 8 (2023-02-05 - Rating: 5)
Took our John’s pizza up here & drank cocktails. It’s upstairs five guys. Walk into 5 guys & the staircase in the back takes you up.Went at an off time so it wasn’t busy & was lovely. Bohemian nightmare was good.Enjoyable -
Review 9 (2024-10-02 - Rating: 4)
Great place to hangout with friends with equally good and decent drinks. Go for the vibe stay for the chat -
Review 10 (2024-11-24 - Rating: 5)
Fantastic spot, one of the best speakeasy’s in Manhattan! Pretty attentive bar tenders for such a crowded bar and great (expensive) drinks. I recommend going as early as you can, we went around 7:45 and there was no line to get in and we even got a little table after being there a bit. The atmosphere is amazing and everything you expect from this famous spot! By the time we left there was a huge line to get in, going early was the best move! -
Review 11 (2022-03-14 - Rating: 5)
I’ve passed this place several times without realizing the bar above a fast food joint. You can even see the bar from the street, but you won’t even notice it unless you know it’s there. The crowd was mixed. Limited seating, but people come and go so just keep an eye out for stool at the bar. Seating is reservation only according to the bartender. It’s not a bad place for night out. Appropriate for a first date, it’s casual, but not too casual. The drink are strong. Prices are about average for a cocktail bar. The only bartender was a bit distracted. We stood there for a bit until we went to the end of the bar and he finally took our order. It’s better to sit at the bar, he kept filling our water and he was noticing our drinks. The decor is unique. The ambience is inviting despite limited seating. It’s warm with soft lighting. Volume loud, but it’s a Sunday night and they were busy so expect that. Wouldn’t mind coming back. -
Review 12 (2021-12-31 - Rating: 5)
Excellent drinks! It was very busy, but the bartender took his time to make sure the drinks were made perfectly. The bar staff also went out of their way to find us seats in a fully packed bar. We will return soon! -
Review 13 (2024-11-03 - Rating: 5)
The casual vibe and the best service. One and only Alyosha. Its one of the few remaining bars with unique NYC energy. -
Review 14 (2024-03-24 - Rating: 5)
Busy, loud spot. A bar above a fast food chain is a pretty cool idea and the decor and vibe in here is awesome. Drinks were fantastic. Staff were kind of apathetic towards customers, but since you seat yourself and order at the bar it didn’t affect things much. Definitely worth checking out. -
Review 15 (2019-11-10 - Rating: 4)
Love this little hidden gem. But its expensive however the drinks are super strong so you wont need that many. Its above a find guys and gets super busy. The bar staff arent the friendliest but it kinda adds to the atmosphere. .It is small and so gets busy! If you have a large group they do have a private area you can hire. The thing I always remember about this place is the door in the bathroom.... Yeah I know its weird but when really drunk you might sound a moment trying to get out. -
Review 16 (2018-06-18 - Rating: 5)
Only stopped here for one drink, but we loved the vibe and the location. Really neat that its located up the stairs at the back of Five Guys. Tough to find but once you know its easy. Great view of Greenwich Village outside. -
Review 17 (2024-04-14 - Rating: 5)
What a great find! The bartenders were fabulous, and the vibe was 💯!!! Just in case you cant find it, go into the 5 guys. 😜 -
Review 18 (2018-10-13 - Rating: 5)
Awesome bar. I’d love the speakeasy character. Cocktails are fantastic and the bartender was really taking care of us. The view of the street bellow was great too. Loved it. -
Review 19 (2024-07-23 - Rating: 5)
Amazing and friendly staff!! my bestie and i love it here -
Review 20 (2022-10-29 - Rating: 5)
It’s a speak easy. What can possibly be bad about a speak easy?I mean it’s expensive as hell, but so is everything in New York. -
Review 21 (2023-01-26 - Rating: 5)
Great cocktails and atmosphere! Music playlist was incredible. -
Review 22 (2021-08-31 - Rating: 4)
Stopped by on a whim with the lady. Really great drinks, and the bartenders were cranking them out! That being said it was a bit of a weird vibe… cocktail bar, but also kind of loud and clubby? Worth a shot if that’s your thing -
Review 23 (2024-03-24 - Rating: 4)
Cool, small bar above the five guys. Loved the drinks but service was slow -
Review 24 (2023-04-19 - Rating: 4)
A real hiding gem. I stop by after enjoying my 5 guys burger. I had a good 2 drinks with a shot, and they were all good. The bartenders recommended a drink after we picked the ones we wanted to try, and we enjoyed them as well . I loved the look of the place it gave me back in the day bar vibes that you cant get anymore. Its very low-key, and I see myself visiting again. My good brother gave it 2 thumbs up. -
Review 25 (2024-06-09 - Rating: 4)
One of the easier to get in bars in west village but still packed. Bartender was kind of rude but maybe because they’re so overworked. 3 bartenders and literally 50 customers -
Review 26 (2024-03-02 - Rating: 4)
Attractive place with attractive crowd but small and jammed. Hard to get a seat on weekends. Go to back of Five Guys to find the stairs going up to the bar. -
Review 27 (2023-05-22 - Rating: 4)
Great spot because its solely above Five Guys, and youre allowed to bring up food into the bar! Bar is very small and gets tight really quickly, but they play good music, and cocktails are on point. -
Review 28 (2024-09-09 - Rating: 5)
Lovely speakeasy. So glad I was brave enough to march through Five Guys to get to this bar. Amazing cocktails. Gorgeous atmosphere. Lovely view from the window. Loved having a drink here. Would definitely go back. -
Review 29 (2022-10-29 - Rating: 5)
Fun little speakeasy right above a burger joint. The cocktails were great and you have a great view of the bustle outside if you snag yourself a window seat. The bathroom is also really trippy, especially if you have enjoyed a few of the cocktails from the bar. -
Review 30 (2022-02-24 - Rating: 5)
A Real New York City speakeasy. If you wanna know why people talk about N.Y.C. night life, find this spot and youll know why. Its a Five Guys Burger Joint downstairs and upstairs its the perfect chill bar/lounge.The bartenders are on point with their cocktails and they dont miss a beat. Theyre aware of their surroundings and know when a person is ready for a cold one.The music is nice and chill, not exaggerated or loud like other places. It has nice one on one tables and chairs, lounge seats towards the front and a bonus room in the back. If you wanna good time, this is the spot to be. -
Review 31 (2022-11-20 - Rating: 4)
This was my 2nd time at this place. The 1st experience was with a group on a speakeasy tour and the surprise was the 5 Guys restaurant as a front which was really cool. This time we met a cool bartender name Rob who not only made good drinks but knows how to make you feel welcomed. -
Review 32 (2019-12-23 - Rating: 4)
Really cool hidden bar. Gives you the speak-easy feel. You have to go IN the Five Guys below it in order to get to the bar. Go into the Five Guys, walk past the order counter and there is a staircase going up to the bar. My friends didnt tell me that, so I wondered around outside of Five Guys until I decided that I would go inside and I found it. Very good cocktails. I had the Norse Whisperer which has tea honey, lemon, vodka and aquavit. Im a Viking so I had to try it. 2 of them will put a lightweight on their behind. They dont skimp on the liqueur. Went on a Friday night and it wasnt obnoxiously packed. Full, but not packed or too loud. Light music played for background purposes. If you want to impress a new date this would be a great place to go. You get the feeling that you may need to know someone to go there. Really cool. -
Review 33 (2023-08-19 - Rating: 5)
Cool vibe. Good beer list. Above a five guys - awesome! -
Review 34 (2022-09-15 - Rating: 5)
One of my favorite speak-easy places in the city. The bartenders always remember us even when it has been months since the last visit - a pleasant surprise. The last visit or two did seem to be trending more toward college-bar than speak-easy, but Im willing to give them a couple more tries hoping that they will rectify this. -
Review 35 (2023-02-21 - Rating: 5)
This speakeasy was such fun! My partner and I really enjoyed the vibe of it all. The drinks were well made, and the location has that brilliant level of surprise. Great energy to the whole experience! -
Review 36 (2024-10-01 - Rating: 4)
Great bar. The service wasnt great unfortunately... -
Review 37 (2015-09-24 - Rating: 4)
A true speakeasy-style cocktail bar. Theres very limited signage and you have to go through a Five Guys to get there. A great date spot if youre looking to be a little different and spontaneous. Cocktails are good, and there is apparently a Five Guys specialty item on the menu.Side note: There is no mirror in the bathroom, only a canvas that says You look beautiful. Charming sentiment, but I really want to check if theres something in my teeth. -
Review 38 (2023-09-19 - Rating: 5)
Awesome speak easy accessible at the back of the five guys downstairs.I only found it because I googled ‘best whiskey sour’…and to be honest it’s pretty 🔥Good music, a little loud when I was here, but good vibes -
Review 39 (2022-06-10 - Rating: 5)
Second time at the garret - The two guys working Thursday Ive never had before. Felt as if I was at an Oprah show, the drinks were flying faster then the jets at the army navy game. You get a drink was the theme of the night. If youre not coming here youre in the wrong part of nyc. Cant wait to come back. Thursday is the new Saturday! -
Review 40 (2022-05-08 - Rating: 4)
I was there on a Saturday night, it was packed, difficult to move around, felt more like a nightclub, but there isnt enough space for dancing either. And the music was too loud for a comfortable conversation. Still, I had a pretty good time. -
Review 41 (2015-09-16 - Rating: 4)
Bartender really knows what he is doing in this surprising little joint above Five Guys, of all places. Smaller, but cozy with ceiling light and a great view of a busy street. A little cold though in the summer with the ac, so bring a sweater. There are drinks on the menu, but the bartender is willing to be creative. The bathroom has a really fun surprise. -
Review 42 (2016-02-13 - Rating: 4)
Nice atmosphere to get reasonable drinks.Right upstairs of a 5 Guys, so you can pick up burger and bring it upstairs to munch on with your drinks.Drinks:- Black Alps - Very citrusy, and sweet. Pretty strong drink- Beetles at Shea - A bit sour, and sweetGood ice cubesIt can get pretty crowded. It was not bad at 5:30 pm on a Friday, but by 7 it was packed. -
Review 43 (2024-11-25 - Rating: 5)
Great speakeasy atmosphere. Not busy at all when I visited. -
Review 44 (2024-11-01 - Rating: 4)
Awesome little comfy lounge speakeasy. A lot of fun. -
Review 45 (2017-09-21 - Rating: 4)
Speakeasy atop a fast-casual burger shop? Its a fun idea and even better that the drinks are good. Two downsides: the bohemian look does not match the not-so-bohemian 14 to 16 a pop cocktail price, and the place closes early as rare is a weekday that the spot will stay open past midnight. -
Review 46 (2020-02-23 - Rating: 5)
Really cool spot above the five guys. Its small and can get crowded fast, but if you manage to find a spot to chill the place has a really good vibe and tasty drinks. The bartenders were all really friendly -
Review 47 (2024-04-09 - Rating: 5)
Such a fun speakeasy in West Village! -
Review 48 (2019-03-14 - Rating: 5)
First time being in New York and decided to check out this bar I have to say it is one of the best bars Ive been to since my trip to new York! I definitely recommend it! Also recommended one bartender(greg) that served us is one of the best makes bartenders weve had definitely. Hes really cool to talk to and can really make some great drinks! stop by and check it out has a nice view despite it being kinda small but awesome! -
Review 49 (2019-03-13 - Rating: 4)
Went here on a Friday night on a first date. Pretty sure it didnt go too well. But it was a cool place, located above a five guys, so the burger smells are captivating. A tad of the pricey side, but if you manage to get a table and hang out for awhile its worth it. Sorry the date didnt go well Maggie -
Review 50 (2021-11-16 - Rating: 5)
Great place! You need to know how to get here. (Walk through the Five Guys and up the back staircase). If you love high-end tequilas, dont miss it. Aleksi is the bartenders bartender! -
Review 51 (2017-08-27 - Rating: 4)
This is a great speak easy lounge in the West Village. Was here when it was a regular bar and still come back to it when it changed. The cocktails are great, the atmosphere is great. But I am not going to tell you how to get here. Just look for the Five Guys...that is all I can say. -
Review 52 (2018-05-11 - Rating: 4)
Good cocktails, dimly lit with old fashion art everywhere. Small space but its cool that you have to walk through the FIVE GUYS to get there. Its not good for a night out but for a pre dinner drink or quick drinks date. -
Review 53 (2016-06-01 - Rating: 5)
Who doesnt want to go to a bar above a 5 guys?! They have a decent beer selection and it isnt usually over-crowded which is nice. Their bathroom is a doozie, especially if youve had too much to drink because the door is covered in identical door handles! -
Review 54 (2024-01-13 - Rating: 4)
Hidden gem and the guy checking IDs is real nice so it wasnt hard to get in. Really like the beers on tap and a cpl of nice cocktails especially the one with a flame. Place gets mad packed and music is quite loud for a speakeasy. Bartenders could have been more friendly and service was slow. However, super cool crowd and nice place to have a cpl of drinks and conversations. -

NYC West Village Speak Easy above a five guys. Don’t forget to bring a bag of fries to your bartender ;) -
Review 56 (2020-01-23 - Rating: 5)
Chill speakeasy above the Five Guys. Beers are awesome and the decoration is really appreciable. Its crowded, but if you get a table you can enjoy your give guys burger there (there are no exclusive burgers though) -
Review 57 (2021-02-27 - Rating: 4)
We walked in without a reservation. The staff were so great and told us we could have a table for 20 min! The cocktail was delicious and the vibe amazing. I hope to be back! -

Review 63 (2017-05-10 - Rating: 5)
A wonderful, tucked away spot. It does appear to have its set of regulars. Dedicated fans of the quaint space, no doubt. The nice thing is you could order a burger from the Five Guys Burger and Fries just downstairs. -
Review 64 (2022-01-26 - Rating: 4)
Amendment 1/25: Mackenzie and Gavin reached back out and reimbursed the cost of my winter coat. Thank you! Will give the Garret another visit at some point. My winter coat was stolen from the coat rack- only several feet away from where my friends and I were seated all night. I was only here for about an hour. My coat was at the back (on purpose, so no one would mistake it for theirs) and it was clearly stolen. The value of my jacket is $250 (Aritzia superpuff) plus my apartment key was in the pocket, which cost me $110 to replace. The staff will not return my calls, almost a week has gone by. Not to mention- it takes forever to get drinks, the staff is rude. Will not be returning and will be telling all my friends this is an unsafe spot to attend (unless you want to wear your winter jacket the entire time). -

Hidden away in the Five Guys this is a great cozy bar and highly recommend it. -
Review 73 (2016-06-25 - Rating: 4)
While the space itself is quite nice, it does get rather crowded pretty easily. It does however, boast something not many cocktail bars can: windows out on to the street which are perfect for people watching -
Review 74 (2019-09-29 - Rating: 4)
Speakeasy above five guys. Drinks as pricey as you would expect. Took a little longer than I would have liked for the drinks to be made but understandable because of the complexity of the drinks. Nice to check this one off the list! -
Review 75 (2023-03-28 - Rating: 5)

This cozy bar is located on the second floor of the Five Guys burger spot. The stairs are located at the end to your left. The Garret welcomes you with an array of music: including R&B, Hip Hop, Rap hits (old and new).I enjoyed their different selections of unique cocktails. My favorite is the Jon Wick Experience, which I would compare to an Old Fashioned but the JWE definitely takes the cake. This bar does not have a food menu but you are welcome to bring your own. The surrounding area has a pizza shop, deli, Thai spot, and of course the Five Guys downstairs.I will definitely be going back!!! -

Super fun speakeasy. enter through the five guys - dw there’s a reason there’s an ID check in the five guys (not for the burger clientele). great cocktails considering how busy in my gets on the weekends. go here if you want to meet people. if you don’t like the busy weekends, try a weekday cocktail treat. worth it to go at least once with some girlfriends. -

Review 97 (2019-09-10 - Rating: 5)
A perfect speakeasy getaway from the crowded bars and nyu nonsense. Enjoy a complex drink at a dimly lit class convention full of elegant cocktails and film noir vibes. Bask in the open wide second floor view of 7th Ave in full swing. Fancy a matcha cocktail or a Tear of the Unicorn? Perhaps a fancy meal. No worries, whats more classy than Five Guys Burgers and fries. Just a neighborly treat from the downstairs kitchen! Theyve got it all...at The Garrett. -

Im making it a goal to check out all the speakeasies in NYC. This was one of our stops and I loved the decor and the drinks were good. It was CROWDED, which is great theyre popular, but its not my style to be crammed in and fight for a place to get at the bar to put an order in. Cool experience though! -
Review 101 (2022-07-14 - Rating: 5)

Love the space and build. On the weekend, long wait to get a drink. Bartenders try hard to get the drinks out. But, mixed drinks takes time.Mixed drinks are around $20 a pop. -

This bar just opened up on Bleecker Street and is kind of a secret—you have to go through Five Guys and take the stairs at the back to enter. -

Super fun little nook of a bar hidden in the back of Five Guys. We walked right up around 9pm on a Friday. Very, very crowded with no where to really even stand. Got drinks quickly enough. One of the best G&Ts I’ve ever had. Again, had to drink it kind of awkwardly since there wasn’t even a wall space to lean against and sadly left after one drink as a result. Great playlist and cool staff. Would come back again but maybe earlier so we can sit. -

Sweet unassuming space with excellent cocktails. I went during the day on a Sunday so we sat wherever we wanted and its nice to look out onto Christopher street. I enjoy it here and will always recommend it to friends whether they live in the city or are visiting. A good spot for a friendly hang or a romantic date. -

One of the more popular speakeasies in NYC. I would avoid at night on a weekend.
