Great little spot with an arcade machine table and shuffleboard. Good selection of cocktails with some basic beers and wines. Definitely worth a visit

This place is the ultimate local hang! The old fashion is perfect, the Negroni is flawlessly balanced, and you’re guaranteed to enjoy your time in this hidden gem 😁

If youre looking for a bar with a home like feeling then this is the place. The bartenders are great at making cocktails very friendly not too loud great music, and a great place to take a date.

Cocktails are the main focus here, and they are done well. The space is small, dark, and intimate, which worked well with the overall feel. The bartender seemed pretty nice, and he was playing a nice selection of dub and reggae while we were there. Id go back for sure.

This place is great for a private, intimate experience with a few people. Theres a small, very secluded single-booth room in the very back that can seat about 8, and the front area has a few small tables. As long as you know its not a bar to roam around in (it is very small), its very enjoyable. The drinks are superb. Theyre a bit on the pricey side, but similarly priced to other comparable locations in NY that serve high-end drinks. The bartenders know what theyre doing and make great drinks. Id highly recommend their sazerac, New Orleans oldest cocktail.

The Guthrie may be one of the few bars west of Lex in the area and luckily its pretty damn good. I stopped in to grab a cocktail after grabbing food and a beer next door. There were a couple seats up front as well as in back so we had no issues there. I had the Donkey Juice which was strong and tasty. My friends had some tiki drink and some smoky drink which they devoured. At $11-$12 a cocktail the drinks are fairly reasonable and they had beers for only $4 and $5. The bartender was friendly and laid back and while we only stayed for one drink we thoroughly enjoyed our self. The combo of The Guthrie Inn and Earls makes for a great night.

Very cool speak easy without pretensions. The bartender is super friendly, and he mixes the best Moscow mule ever! you can seat at the window and stare at park av, or in the more intimate room at the back

New owners that grew up on the block. They renovated the place but kept the warm character of the old Guthries. Great atmosphere, speakeasy, Cocktailbar but also pilsener and IPA on tap.

Gutheries inn is my favorite bar in the lower east harlem / just-above-upper-east side area. It has nice atmosphere and friendly service. It is a bar where the tenders remember your name if you come twice. They have shuffleboard in the back. It is a good bar for a after work beer and a nice place to hangout on a Friday / Saturday. They have good drinks (recommend Room 1259) and two beers on tap (pilsner/ipa) on tap.

I miss this place. I decided to check on it recently, because Google Maps indicates it is open. Sadly, it is not. As I walked up to it, I was listening to Walls by Tom Petty and he was singing, I cant hold out forever, even walls fall down. I know the lyric itself isnt meant to be sad, but it was in this case. I hope Gurthrie Inn comes back. I fear it it never will. October 1, 2020 UPDATE: I stand corrected, it is open

I wouldnt really call this a speakeasy as others here do. Its more of a tiny dive hallway bar that serves cocktails. That being said, its my go to when staying at the in-laws around the corner. Tiny but effective and unpretentious.

Low key cocktail bar. Excellent cocktails. Nice bartender. Perfect neighborhood spot for casual hangouts and date nights.

  • Review 13 (2021-09-26 - Rating: 5)

Great neighborhood haunt. No frills, but great hang out with quality drinks that are affordable!

Had a wonderful time last night at The Guthrie Inn grabbing espresso martinis with a friend! The vibe is awesome and the bartenders are so friendly. Great spot to have a drink + catch some banter!

  • Review 17 (2021-05-14 - Rating: 4)

It’s a quintessential New York speakeasy in its look, something I adore. It is less quintessential when it comes to the drinks and the vibe. The vibe is an improvement. Super laid back and charmingThe drinks are not. Pretty generic, nothing a half decent cocktail enthusiast couldn’t whip up at home.So yeah, not great if your looking for that perfect cocktailperfect for low key hang where the drinks are fine.

Exciting and friendly place to drink, sing and dance.

  • Review 19 (2022-06-24 - Rating: 4)

Good cocktails. Service is very good

  • Review 20 (2022-01-10 - Rating: 5)

Love this spot. Great people and feels like your own personal hideaway in a ski town but is factually within minutes of Mt. Sinai in the heart of uptown Manhattan.

  • Review 21 (2015-05-03 - Rating: 4)

Came here for a beer which wasnt a choice because they only have three - this is more of a cocktail bar. I ordered a Moscow mule and it was very well balanced. This place is super tiny, but I liked the chill vibe with the reggae music and antique chandeliers.

  • Review 22 (2018-12-14 - Rating: 5)

What makes a great bar is quality conversation and after that the drinks will pour themselves! Gutherie Inn relishes in being a family/neighborhood bar and accepting everyone who enters. I felt right at home within five minutes of entering the building. I wouldnt have spent my a seven hour layover any other way!

  • Review 23 (2016-11-18 - Rating: 4)

Good drinks in a quaint speakeasy type setting

  • Review 24 (2016-07-31 - Rating: 5)

Awesome little spot with great drinks!

  • Review 25 (2015-07-25 - Rating: 5)

I have only ordered beverages here, and I can attest to the craftiness that was involved in the construction of their drinks. I had their old fashioned, as well as some of the craft beer on tap. It is slightly on the more expensive side--most specialty cocktail bars usually are--but their happy hour when I went includes two for one beers, which tend to err towards the craft brew side of the sud spectrum.

  • Review 26 (2019-09-10 - Rating: 5)

This bar, in its newly renovated form, is an excellent addition to the neighborhood. Highly recommend.

  • Review 27 (2017-04-14 - Rating: 4)

Solid drinks, amusingly named and friendly crowd.

  • Review 28 (2016-09-02 - Rating: 5)

Fun little dive-cocktail spot. Very unique for the neighborhood. Sure its not The Dead Rabbit, or Apotheke, or Attaboy, or Dutch Kills, Fresh Kills, or Little Branch, but what it lacks in stature, it makes up for its simplicity. The cocktails are simple and the ambience is very chill and the staff is very sweet. Its not fancy and pretentious, but its a cool joint to hang loose. Make sure you get a bite next door @Earls Beer and Cheese!

  • Review 29 (2017-06-10 - Rating: 4)

Fun cocktail spot on the upper upper east side. Drinks are a little expensive for the area.Try the Room 1275 cocktail when its warm outside.

  • Review 30 (2019-01-05 - Rating: 5)

Low key, excellent cocktails and service. Very safe place for a lady.

It was easy to find a seat here, and the bartender was very nice. Not a huge selection, only 2 beers on draft.
