    Nice bar located in the Soho. Good variety of draft beers and food. Good bands playing at the place - but we needed to pay $5 each to enter, which we were not expecting. The place is crowded and you may face a line depending on the day and time you get there.

    The Red Lion is back as the amazing soccer bar they once were!     On Mondays, there is always blues jam. Attended one of them, the atmosphere and music were great. Food selection is as you can expect in a bar - snacks and limited choice of second dishes - but quality was good. Recommend!

    The staff and servers are great and for a bar, the food was pretty good tooPlace could be a five if they somehow sectioned off the dance floor. Doing their staff no favors when they have to cross a sea of people to get to a table. Also means people hover over your table when eating.Lastly, I feel if you make a reservation to eat and drink, you shouldnt have to pay a cover, but thats just me.

    BEST BAR EVER! Not even I had fantastic times during my NYU studies back in 2014-16 drinking really good beers and enjoying the company, but what makes it unique is that during a trip to NYC (May 11th, 2021 - as I went back to the bar to have a beer and remember those times) I was then charged usd6 more by mistake and 10 days later when I wrote them back with this claim they immediately made the refund. Thank you specially George for your kind emails and effective management. Definitely recommend it and will always come back for beers and memories =)

    The Red Lion remains a dependable, fun, friendly place to eat, drink and see live music. The musicians who play here are talented, fun, and consistent. The food is high quality and not too pricey. And bartender service is attentive. Definitely worth hanging there. Cheers.

    Its a 5 on a weekday, a 3 on the weekend. Do not go here on a weekend unless you want to be right on top of each other with literally no room to move around. A lot of cool cover bands come through here and it can be a lot of fun but they need to seriously limit the amount of people allowed in on the weekend. Ive only had small appetizer type food one time and it was good. Staff all seem friendly no complaints there.

    Came along for the music stayed for the atmosphere and staff were great some great Irish bar tenders. Live music all night and sports during the day what else could you want. Reasonably priced drink for the location and walking distance to the west village. Would recommend to anyone who lives here or visiting.

    Sticky floor, dance party vibes! Mostly a younger crowd but had guests of all ages!Visited on a Saturday evening and walked right in ($10 cover per person - weekend before Halloween).Live band (Pink Lightning) played array of songs from many decades.Very crowded dance floor, bar area, and surrounding spaces. Lively atmosphere. Would recommend for a fun night out.

    Great spot! The live music was great and upbeat. They have specials each night. We made it for 50 cent wing night (Tuesday). Our waiter was Dara from Ireland and he was GREAT!The wings were standard, pub wings. Know that they dont come with carrots and celery with this special. They cost extra and you must buy a bar drink.Inside is quite loud, but there is seating that worked well for us outside under an awning as well as on-street seating.Cons:- the homeless, the drunk homeless and the mentally unstable homeless. They were disruptive to say the least.- beware of the prices on the menu and the prices on your receipt. We were charge $2 more than listed.

    We walked by and decided to check this place out before our reservation down the block and didnt want to leave! We considered just skipping our reservation..alas, we got on our way. We had so much fun listening to music. Everyone there seems great and casual and you can tell there are good friendships among the musicians who perform. We both had beer that we liked and were able to find a seat toward the back that was comfortable. We will be back we hope!

    First time in NYC and went to the red lion for a NBA game and a live show everything was superb! I advise you to go there before 7pm cause you dont pay the entrance which can sometimes be more than 10$. Special mention to Pink Lightning group love them !

    One of the best places to watch rugby in NYC. Red Lion is an institution. Ive been going to this pub for 15+ years for rugby and football. Great atmosphere, excellent bar staff and a proper Irish Breakfast. Every so often Ill even stay around for some music and never been disappointed.

    A simple laid back bar with intimate live rock music located at Mcdougal Street. Reasonable priced beer, tasty pizza and $10 cover charge. The bouncer are friendly and hospitable as well.The crowd is generally hot and diverse! My night is already on a good start if I go to a bar with love music and I see people enjoying and dancing and chatting up with random people. People come here to enjoy music and have fun!The bands are generally good and vary from pop rock to punk to rock! They play covers of all the popular songs!If I tell you that if you like live music and you come here with a meager budget of say $60, you can still have 4 hours of fun, would you not go here?

    Excelent service.The waitstaff where efficient and friendly.The local Red lion beer was delicious, on happy hour I was happy to pay $3 for them.The burgers where good, the bacon was a little tasteless, but it tasted like home cooking, just what I wanted.Happy hour sides where amazing, delicious buffalo wings and a generous serving of nachos with fresh corn chips.The food was a little cool by the time we got it, due to the lone chef in the kitchen and there being 4 burgers and 3 sides.I was overly impressed with the red lion inn for its pricing. Would happily have another happy hour there. Or three.

    This is one of the hottest places to be for outstanding jamming bands.Updated; dropped by again late last night after playing at the chess club. 12/11/18However, never mentioned, that their food, most especially the chicken club sandwich is exceptionally delicious. Most especially with their large order of sweet potato fries.Its like being in food heaven.I thought their chef, must be almost a cordon bleu trained expertise professional.And their band, Stinger was epically outstanding.Tremendous place for a birthday party with family and friends. 💜💙💜🍔🍔🍔To wild nights out in NYC, it all gets down from here to eternity.And the drinks are spectacularly priced to party.     So how many stars I give this is really dependent on what you are looking for. On the weekend this is a lively college/out of towners bar with live music, a $10 cover and where things get pretty messy. On the weekdays its a bit quieter and they have live music sometimes. Great spot if you want a rowdy night or if you want to watch European football or rugby but this wouldnt be my first choice for a quiet beer or somewhere to meet friends for food.

    This Irish Pub offers many specials every day. There is a special lunch menu. There is a full bar with a large assortment of mixed drinks, beer, and wine. The food is deliciious. We ordered veggie burgers and wings. Both were delicious. Dont be fooled by the looks of the restaurant. Service and food is great.

    One of the few places with Live music in NYC, and we love so much there that I already lost count of how many times we were in the area and ended up there (and not once we regretted it). It gets really crowded but the servers still manage to bring everything as fast as possible, and simply all the bands that play there are amazing.

    Ive been to The Red Lion in the heart of the West Village many times over the past 20 years. It is a combination bar restaurant with a staff largely from Ireland. They also have live music from the 60s and 70s Classic Rock. I was there last night and saw a trio named Harlem River Noise, despite the name they are all white. The best band Ive ever seen at the Red Lion. They play everything from Little Richard to Johnny Cash and 3 Dog Night The beer menu contains a large number of bottled and draft beers from around the world, and should satisfy almost anyone. Should you go after 8:30 you will pay a $5.00 cover charge, however the bands change about every 3 hours, so you are seeing a lot different performers. My only complaint is the mixed drinks are watered down, a rum and coke costs $10.00 and tastes like water and some sugar. Overall though a terrific place with great music and the food is good too.

    Absolutely loved this bar! It has a great ambiance, wonderful and friendly service, and amazing live music. I especially loved the live music piece! It’s a cozy environment with booths and seating in the back while having a stage in the front with a small dance floor in front of it.     Been here during the day and at night...If you want a nice place to grab an Irish brew & appetizer during the day, this is a nice corner bar to do it at with friendly authentic Irish bartenders (helpful & know their history!).If you come here at night , especially on the weekend.. expect AWESOME LIVE MUSIC but wall to wall packed people which can take a toll on you.. at any age.     Excellent spot to watch English sports (came here for the Ireland v England rugby game) and it was packed.     We were looking for a place to just chill. Somewhere more intimate and ran into this place. Customer service was great, drink prices were good, and the guy performing live on the stage singing cover songs let me rock the mic real quick. David the bartender was awesome. They had doors closed and brother got sick once we left but he definitely got me a cup of water for him quickly so that goes to show that they do care for their customers.

    This sports bar/music venue combo offers simple and tasty food good selection of drinks and some great live music (blues and rock mostly). Decor is nothing fancy, really simple bar design with red color dominance. Staff is nice and laid back. There is outside sidewalk seating area which I recommend on nice weather.     My five star is for the times I attended the weekly Tuesday couchsurfing event here...So on Tuesday nights 6-12 if you get two drinks your chicken wings will be 10¢... So come with a group, let some people buy drinks, and enjoy the live music...It gets crowded in here on Tuesdays.

    We ended up here with a group of 5 friends after brunch last sunday and it was a blast! they had a live band and because it was raining and icky out it didnt seem too crowded. also probably because its summer and a lot of people leave town. the menu was pretty solid too with lots of options for bar food. I got some mozzerella sticks and truffle tots. all in all a fun time!
