There was about a 30 to 40 minute wait when we arrived. As soon as we got seated we were greeted by our lovely waitress Shannon who was absolutely lovely and very attentive. Our drinks came and food came out very quickly & everything was absolutely delicious! Definitely worth the wait!

Happened upon this place for lunch when the first spot we went to had a line around the corner. My mom and I sat at the bar due to availability. When I say we had some of the best food in NY, I don’t exaggerate. Everything was super fresh and came out timely. The star of the show, was our bartender Ken. Absolutely busting *ss, super attentive, and anticipated everything we could ever need. Literally the best server I’ve probably ever had will dining out- anywhere. Thank you to Ken for making our last hour in NYC a special one.

First time going here and it was phenomenal! Right now it’s such a warm and cozy Christmas vibe and made the overall dinging experience that much more enjoyable! For starters my fiancé and I got the Spicy Salmon Tartare and Chicken Nuggets. I have never had salmon served this way before but it’s a new favorite. It comes on top of crunchy rice which is a nice switch in textures. The chicken nuggets were great also and came with a really tasty sauce. For our main meals I got the Country Pork Chop and Erica got the Flat Iron Steak. I’d give the pork chop the win because not only was it delicious, but it was on top of a bed of cheddar jalapeño grits. I was licking the plate to get all of it! Overall all great dining experience and looking to go back soon!

This spot offers a delightful brunch experience with its savory dishes and delectable options. The French toast is a standout, perfectly complemented by fresh-squeezed orange juice and robust black coffee. The menu features a variety of enticing choices, including deviled eggs, homemade chips with cheese, and roasted vegetables topped with a poached egg. The lobster roll is an absolute must-try, adding a touch of indulgence to the meal. The staff is warm and welcoming, enhancing the overall dining experience. Situated in a convenient location, this place is ideal for a leisurely brunch with friends or family. Highly recommended for its delicious offerings and friendly atmosphere.

Fantastic brunch spot with stellar service. After 4 pm it settled down till 6 pm dinner. I love the tomato soup it’s so creamy. My burger was A ok and the fries crispy and delicious. My friend enjoyed the chicken sandwich. It’s a lot of food we couldn’t finish it all. Lots of seating options and outside dining. Fun Photo Booth in the bathroom. See you soon!

My favorite brunch spot! I love the delicious food. Mimosa and a kale and quinoa salad was heaven. The special eggs Benedict is super too.

  • Review 9 (2024-11-11 - Rating: 5)

This is a busy place with an upbeat/modern atmosphere. The service was professional, friendly and attentive. Both of the appetizers we had were delicious - tuna tartare and calamari. The calamari might have been the best Ive ever had. Everyone really liked their entrees. I had the brick pressed chicken which was very good. Overall, it was a great experience!

Love the food and the atmosphere! Very lively and lighting is amazing. Service is quick and server is fast as well. Highly recommend the arugula and goat cheese salad with salmon, Benny blanco, and the Smith burger!

One of the best brunch in NY we have, very delicious

  • Review 14 (2022-12-27 - Rating: 4)

My weekend Shrimp with grits is really great, creamy and flavorful. Salad was fresh and well mixed in. Service is good (but can be slow when busy). Price is on the higher side even as in Manhattan. Very very crowded spot, strongly recommend to make reservations especially on weekends.

  • Review 15 (2023-06-19 - Rating: 5)

Overall an afternoon well spent with family , friends with great food and drinksA great place to hang out with friends or family. The food is excellent be it a simple salad or a juicy burger or a nice pasta dish. Plenty of kid friendly optionsThe cocktails too were v good . We tried the mimosa , espresso martini and I got adventurous and had the third wheel which had three different kinds of alcohol.

  • Review 16 (2024-06-22 - Rating: 4)

Great food, very lively atmosphere.I tried their shishito peppers, mac-n-cheese, and rigatoni alla vodka. All food items were great.

  • Review 17 (2023-03-14 - Rating: 5)

Very nice place with ambiance. My pancakes were yummy and the portion was big, I regretted I had not been able to eat everything. We got scones while waiting for breakfast. Service was really nice, the place itself spacious, clean and rather empty (Friday after 8am, October). Downside - a bit pricey. What I found interesting was a photo booth in the toilets!

  • Review 18 (2024-12-21 - Rating: 5)

We went to The Smith for breakfast and ended up going back the next day as well. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was delicious. We loved the pancakes with the sticky toffee sauce.

  • Review 19 (2024-05-22 - Rating: 5)

My friend and I originally came here to eat but decided to do a quick drive by. Since the vanilla bean French toast were sold out for the day we ordered some appetizers and drinks.Ok so the food, at least what I had was tastyThe home fries were super good and I love love the sautéed onions in them dish. Too bad they weren’t mine to finish 🥴The Spicy Salmon Tartare was pretty freaking AwesomeI loved the crunchiness of the crispy rice and the ring of jalapeño gave it a nice kick 👌🏽The oysters were so good with a slight meaty texture(The side sauces did it for me too, the garlic specifically)Drink: Cucumber Loco is a nice refreshing drink with a strong essence of cucumber which I enjoy so much#fancyliteats

  • Review 20 (2024-10-26 - Rating: 4)

Food was good for the price, and so were the drinks. The wait was a bit too long for what you get, but I guess thats expected for a Saturday in NYC.

  • Review 21 (2024-08-08 - Rating: 5)

Fantastic in every way! Big shout out to Nico! He was welcoming from the moment we arrived and quickly gave us a corner table even though we didn’t have a reservation. The food and drinks were so good, my boyfriend immediately made a reservation for the next day so we could return. We had brunch on both days. We were pleased to find the food was consistent and delicious. I know prices are going up everywhere these days but with this restaurant, everything is so nicely presented and well prepared that the prices seem extremely fair. We had a different server for each visit. Both were attentive and super friendly. I highly recommend the avocado toast (got mine with scrambled eggs). The portion size is nice and the accompanying salad is tasty. My boyfriend loved the steak and eggs and the jalapeño grits. The cocktails are made well too. Anyway, I’ll be back next time I’m town and if you’re still reading this - stop scrolling. Make a reservation.

  • Review 22 (2023-02-12 - Rating: 4)

Always a solid and consistent experience at the Smith at any location. Loud and exciting crowd and broad menu and cocktails. The blue cheese chips are a solid starter. I enjoyed the jalapeño bread Benedict, which was filling. Avocado toast is always a favorite. Bathrooms are downstairs and clean. Make a reservation.

  • Review 23 (2022-08-28 - Rating: 5)

The pancakes with blue berries and lemon were excellent. Just enough to satisfy my hungry but not feel over full.Coffee is excellent. Though the art on the coffee looked more like an onion 😂Service was great. Water at the table was cold and refreshing.Would return

  • Review 24 (2024-10-23 - Rating: 5)

All locations of The Smith are fantastic. I have been eating at the NYC locations for many years. The atmosphere is great, service is always friendly, the menu is large, and the food and drinks are great, especially the burger. The Smith Midtown (and NoMad) is a great spot for a good meal at any time of the day or night, or drinks at the bar.

  • Review 25 (2023-01-27 - Rating: 5)

My fourth or fifth time at the Smith was just a delicious as all the other times. Avocado toast and churro waffles were so good, although the avocado toast needed some salt (but for me, everything does…) the breakfast scramble was also delicious. The latte was hot and tasty. Service was great. Consistency is key and they are consistent!

  • Review 26 (2022-01-03 - Rating: 5)

Went there for dinner tonight and it was just okay. They had outside and inside seating which is nice to have that option. The decor is nice inside and cozy. I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka entree and it was pretty good. My boyfriend ordered the brick pressed chicken and he did not like it. Hes not a complainer but he had to send it back. The main complaint was how the chicken tasted. It was rubbery in the middle and the taste was horrible. The drinks werent the greatest either. I had the Moscow mule and it wasnt worth the $15. I barely could taste the ginger beer. Overall, it was a cute restaurant but definitely will not be back.

  • Review 27 (2023-10-07 - Rating: 5)

On a rainy Saturday morning we went to The Smith for brunch. We ordered: The Smith Eggs Benedict, The Smith Burger, lemonade, latte and for dessert Chocolate Sunday with black cherries. Every thing was delicious, great atmosphere and fantastic service.

  • Review 29 (2022-07-05 - Rating: 5)

Delicious food. Very nice place and the staff is very friendly. We ordered both breakfast and lunch with a large party of 6. The BLT-E breakfast sandwich is amazing, they do charge more for it on the lunch menu which lunch begins at 1130 so be mindful of that if you want breakfast. I got the steak and eggs and it was fantastic. Our party had the BLT-E, steak and eggs, shrimp scampi, Mac and cheese, steak burger and everything was phenomenal. Will add all photos when I can but highly recommend!

  • Review 31 (2022-12-04 - Rating: 5)

Loved the brunch here!Decided to visit this restaurant on a Saturday morning, they were quite busy. We had a table for two, without a reservation. All the staff were courteous, the food was tasty and the service was excellent. The prices are standard for Manhattan. The brunch cocktails were amazing, not watered down at all.I will definitely be back soon!

  • Review 32 (2023-06-02 - Rating: 5)

Absolutely the best chicken dish I have ever had at a restaurant; perfectly seasoned and cooked. Flavor was superb! Loved the busy atmosphere without having to wait for a table, and our waiter Omar kept us laughing. Will be back!

  • Review 33 (2024-12-23 - Rating: 5)

The only thing better than the food was the kind staff. Michael was an all star. He was funny, kind and very helpful. And the food was delicious.

  • Review 34 (2024-09-07 - Rating: 5)

Cam running the host station is phenomenal, Jainzi is a beautiful server inside and out… patient and kind staff through and through. We had 6 people, a service dog and a baby and the entire experience was fantastic. The food never disappoints… consistent and delicious. The potato pancake with lox and eggs benedict was so good! Nico, the manager is also super kind and helpful. We broke a dish and the staff celebrated instead of giving us dirty looks. We love The Smith and will continue to go there :)

  • Review 35 (2023-12-28 - Rating: 5)

Extremely tasty and fancy food.I was dying to try some steak and fries for brunch and this place delivered: the steak was sooo juicy and cooked to perfection. Had the ny strip with sunny side up egg and homemade fries, absolutely delicious. We also had the avocado toast which was on point, and some super tasty pancakes.Ordered the steak medium and it was somewhere between medium rare and medium, precisely how I like it, super tasty and juicy!!Will come back for that steak at some point! They also have a bunch of cocktails, like sangria royale, mimosas, etc!

  • Review 36 (2024-01-21 - Rating: 5)

We had an amazing experience at The Smith in Midtown East. Food came out really quickly and everything was delicious! Well definately be back for brunch.Michael, our waiter, was extremely accomodating of our toddler and was very attentive. When we told him we were celebrating a special ocassion, he brought us prosecco for the entire table!

  • Review 37 (2022-06-12 - Rating: 4)

It was a good experience. Very popular place on the weekend. Drinks were good. I had thr shrimp and grits. Wasnt a fan of the dish. But it was plated well and the chicken sausage was great. A little pricey in comparison to the restaurants around it but ur paying for the vibe

  • Review 38 (2021-08-02 - Rating: 4)

Good place for dinner. Its a chain so dont expect unique creations etc., but that said the food and ambiance were great. Got the caesar salad, burrata, burger and one of the diners had an espresso martini! The salad was awesome, had parmesan croutons, quite unique and tasted awesome. The burrata was decent but wasnt wowed by it. The burger was perfect and the fries were very crispy on the outside and soft inside was awesome! Heres the kicker - they give you complementary regular water AND sparkling water... who does in NY :) ? Wait staff were attentive and not intrusive. Definitely recommend trying it out.

  • Review 39 (2024-10-23 - Rating: 5)

The Smith Burger was so so good. Cooked as requested, flavors were fresh, and the drinks were tasty. Will definitely be back the next time I’m in town. Sal’s the man.

  • Review 40 (2023-01-24 - Rating: 4)

Monday afternoon not too busy, so staff was very attentive. food arrived at a decent time. I tried their grilled chicken sandwich, taste was regular, but came with a unique jam sauce that gave it a kick. Their fries were nice and crispy, overall good experience for an after work stop.

  • Review 41 (2017-11-26 - Rating: 5)

The food was very good, service great and has awesome decor. I was there for brunch and would definitely return. While I wouldnt call it an iconic brunch spot, it is a good option for anyone looking to have an upscale yet casual brunch. Try the French toast or hash, both were great.

  • Review 42 (2022-10-19 - Rating: 4)

Beautiful little spot on the UES. My partner and I stopped here for Brunch, and it was such a fantastic farewell to our time in NYC.The space is large and cozy. The interior design is hip and very clean. Hostesses sat us very quickly. Our waiter was a bit on the meek side and didn’t seem too interested in chatting with us or giving us any recommendations.I really enjoyed the cheddar biscuits they offer before you start your meal. I got the Eggs Benedict and it was superb! The muffin was fluffy and delicious, and the eggs were poached perfectly. Overall the food is a 5/5. Would give this an overall 5 rating, but the salad was a bit mushy, and our server was a bit cold, but don’t let that stop you from trying this gem of a brunch spot. 🧡

  • Review 43 (2024-08-27 - Rating: 5)

The breakfast was Phenomenal! I was in the area and decided to stop by, and it was the greatest choice I had ever made! The customer service was great, and the food came out hot and fresh. 10/10 would recommend, and I will be coming back.

So glad my husband and I decided to try this place out! Food, drinks, and service were excellent! We had calamari as an app (delicious!), ribeye and burger were great as well! Highly recommend making reservations, as it was pretty busy. Luckily a waiter spotted us searching for a seat at the bar (which is full service btw) and accommodated us with an outdoor table! 10/10!

Visited The Smith for a thanksgiving dinner on my trip to New York. The set 3 course meal had plenty of variety, and the food was delicious. I would definitely return here if I ever go back to New York on a trip

  • Review 47 (2022-08-28 - Rating: 4)

Good service, good vibe, underwhelming food.Edit: 3-> 4 starsSecond visit went much better. If you are not fan of foods that are too sweet, avoid french toast, corn bread, waffle, etc. and you’ll be fine.

  • Review 48 (2022-12-04 - Rating: 4)

The burger is THAT good. I did not want to believe it but its really good. I asked a friend in the neighborhood where the best place for a very good burger is and he pointed me to The Smith on Second Ave.This is a quick review. I was alone, it was just before Thanksgiving, it was a little later at night and the place was starting to clear out. I walked in and went straight to the bar.The bar is classic zin-top and subway tile backing, mirrors behind the back wall and bottles so you can face the wall and still get glimpses of whats going on in the room. It was lively, I was one of three men eating at the bar solo and when one left another took the other diners place. The bartender was great, ordered a drink and it came fast. Just to check, I asked if I should order the burger or the hangar steak and the response was immediate, the burger is the best, you need to have that..., how do you want that cooked?. Done, sold. The burger is big and its juicy but not crazy juicy. You will need your napkin. I cut it in half (I know sacrilege) because I could not manage holding the entire burger well and it was hard controlling all the slippery goodness; I did not want any falling out. Ketchup comes in a ramekin and at first I thought I would need way more however, given the burger dressing, it needed no ketchup and the amount for the fries was just right.I ordered the apple pie like 12,000 calories from the burger was not enough (jk - I am not sure what the burger calories are but likely way lower than 12,000). The apple pie with the icecream on top was also very good. The pie was of course warm and the ice cream melted perfectly. It was all a little sweet for me but the spices in the pie were super good and its a killer desert.Service was great, zero complaints, all good!

  • Review 49 (2024-02-19 - Rating: 5)

The food was amazing(butter milk pancakes, egg benedict) but service wise it wasn‘t satisfying. At least the man who served at the bar was kind. I hope all the tips go to him

  • Review 50 (2019-03-05 - Rating: 4)

The atmosphere and staff are good. Its a pretty big place but it could get packed depending on the time of day. I ordered the pancakes and chicken sausage. The pancakes were fluffy, flavorful and the salted caramel syrup gave an extra flavor that was different from most syrups. Most of the items in the menu came in large portion and will fill you up if you want a large meal. I didnt give this place 5 starts because there selection of items wasnt large.

  • Review 51 (2022-07-26 - Rating: 4)

We went there and was a good experience. Have a lot of different items, and we tried these plates on that pictures. Good food! The coffee its not warm, almost cold, and its a good idea ask for come hot.

  • Review 52 (2022-09-04 - Rating: 5)

I got the lil Caesar salad which was amazing and then I also got the ricotta and gnocchi. I would definitely recommend both and go back again for them but I also wanted to try every dessert that was on their menu but I decided to pass... Very nice atmosphere and I love how they bring you sparkling and regular water to the table

  • Review 53 (2023-04-29 - Rating: 5)

An amazing brunch discovery! We were lucky to get a table as walk-in customers since it gets extremely busy, so one is better off making a reservation. The service was excellent and the brunch was delicious…definitely look forward to repeat visits.

This is a hidden gem in the UES. The restaurant has large windows, so it feels like you are outdoors. The burger is large in size, and the fries are plentiful. They bring complimentary carafe of tap water and sparkling water.

Brunch time. Ordered steak with eggs and home potatoes for myself. Steak was a little raw. But ok. Aperol spritz was like a juice, no alcohol was noticed. Service was way too slow.

I have visited The Smith twice, once for dinner and once for brunch. The Smith is always busy!!! Its highly recommended to make a reservation. I made a reservation for brunch, which I missed by half hour but they were still able to accommodate me in a timely manner. Every though it was super busy, the drinks and food came it really fast. The staff were so nice and friendly, making jokes, my waitress kept saying no rush.

  • Review 61 (2024-12-16 - Rating: 5)

Spacious, casual but chic interior. Martini happy hour from 3-6pm for $12. Lychee gimlet is good and not too sweet.

  • Review 64 (2024-06-12 - Rating: 5)

I recently visited The Smiths Midtown East location for brunch with a friend, and we had a great experience here!! The atmosphere inside of The Smith is lovely, and their 2nd Avenue location has great accessibility to everything in Midtown. I tried The Smith Eggs Benedict and it was so delicious!! My girlfriend tried their Buttermilk Pancakes and loved them (they were topped with pecan maple butter, which looked amazing). The bartenders took great care of us - they even accommodated my request to sub the black forest ham in my dish to avocado instead. One of the managers popped-by during our meal as well, just to check-in that our experience was good! :-) I love The Smith thats situated right near Lincoln Center, so this was so lovely to get to try one of their other locations. Great spot!!

  • Review 65 (2018-08-09 - Rating: 4)

Good food, good service, good atmosphere but a bit noisy at peak hours. The interior is nicely decorated with natural wood accents and white tiles. The service is dilligent and nice to you.The food is good and portions feeling. The only negative aspect is the noise level at peak hours: even by New York standards it is pretty loud.

  • Review 66 (2023-07-16 - Rating: 5)

Yummy! The french toast with blueberry compote and mascarpone was TOO DIE for! Coffee also solid. Largest unisex bathroom downstairs in NYC that I have ever seen! Staffed up nicely, no wait with a reservation.

  • Review 67 (2022-06-04 - Rating: 4)

For a Saturday morning with no reservations we were seated pretty quickly. For brunch the food was good, I got the French toast and my husband got the BLT sandwich. He said it was the best BLT he ever had. The only con was the service, our waiter didn’t come to our table often . Me and my husband was ready to go after we finished eating and we were sitting there for a while waiting for him to get the check. So that was the only issue but other than that food was good. .

When you think of all American restaurant, the Smith always comes to mind. They take reservations and can accommodate large groups. I threw many birthdays, babyshowers and bridal showers at a few of their locations. You can always depend on having a good meal with drinks! Here photoed is the Sicilian baked eggs and steak & eggs.

  • Review 69 (2021-03-01 - Rating: 5)

Very much enjoyed the food and service. A casual spot. They take the current pandemic protocols seriously and maintain the safest atmosphere possible. Our server was great and very accommodating.

  • Review 70 (2024-07-30 - Rating: 5)

The food was excellent. However, it was super busy and even with a reservation we had to wait 15 minutes for our table. Staff is really friendly though.

  • Review 71 (2021-05-31 - Rating: 5)

Delicious spot for brunch! French toast was really good. We loved the hummus but wish there were more veggies and crackers/pita with it. Highly recommend the earl grey tea.

  • Review 72 (2023-04-26 - Rating: 4)

Loved the buzzy vibe and mezcal-based cocktail with caramelized rim. The brick chicken is a must. 4 stars because the burrata and calamari starters were meh, and the bike lane between tables and restaurant is an accident waiting to happen. Good for a date or dinner with friends. Attire smart casual.

While visiting NYC we stumbled upon The Smith and were incredibly surprised by our experience. Our waiter was kind, helpful and present and the food was amazing. My partner had The Smith Burger which was delicious and I had their unique take on gnocchi. Ricotta Gnocchi in a truffle sauce. Out of this world. I will definitely come back again. The prices are fair and the atmosphere is perfect. Great for turning a casual date into something a little more memorable!!

Ok y’all.. I haven’t been here in a dogs age but Lord have mercy- they have not missed a step. It was loud AF, but the food was unreal. We started with a plethora of oysters to nurse the Sunday scaries- followed by quite literally the dankest gazpacho I’ve ever had in my life. I could swim laps in this stuff. Finally, we finished by splitting the grilled chicken sammich. I’m in heaven. Will be back.

  • Review 75 (2021-07-20 - Rating: 5)

Our servers were excellent as well as our food. I ordered brussel sprouts for an appetizer and Shrimp & Grits. Both were absolutely delicious and well presented! Would definitely go back here again!

Great management and food. Spilled something on my order and not only replaced it but gave me four enormous homemade chocolate chip cookies. Ambience and food superb.

  • Review 77 (2023-04-01 - Rating: 5)

Avo toast! Great portion. Huge chunks of fresh avocado drizzled with lemon juice and a tiny bit of paper flakes, thick whole wheat toast at the bottom, paired with fresh arugula salad. Very healthy, filling, and fresh.

  • Review 80 (2022-01-11 - Rating: 4)

We came here for brunch with friends - nothing special. I had a BLT+E and everyone else had a Benedict. My sandwich wasn’t good at all - bacon was over cooked (very hard, burned and difficult to bite), egg was undercooked (I ordered a fried egg, well done and I got a runny egg), and there was too much mayo. We all liked the breakfast potatoes though.

  • Review 81 (2017-04-25 - Rating: 5)

I have to say we almost freak out as the waiter forgot about our meal, then left to take a break for about 20 minutes 😖However after a quick apologie and our food in the table, we enjoyed the incredible tasty food.Huge portions and absolutely delicious food.

  • Review 82 (2024-07-17 - Rating: 5)

Great food, the Mediterranean salad and veg bibimbap were very good. Our little one loved the mac and cheese. Very good drinks as well.

  • Review 83 (2018-12-30 - Rating: 5)

Omgoodness.. the gnocchi and mac and cheese were amazing.. both are must haves. I went with a friend and there was nothing available but the bar which every seat was taken. Even with the business of the bar, the bartender was attentive and her recommendations were spot on. She suggested we get the gnocchi first. I wish I ordered the larger portion it was sooo good.

  • Review 84 (2022-03-29 - Rating: 5)

This place is truly awesome. The vibes are great (there was ‘00s music last time so that was amazing) and the food…just wow. The ricotta gnocchi quite literally melted in my mouth and the cucumber ginger beer tasted like actual happiness??? Seriously, just go. Oh, and order the apple dessert after! You’re welcome in advance.

  • Review 85 (2024-05-25 - Rating: 5)

This place was a great stop for me and my date for lunch. Food and drinks were fantastic and our first waiter was great. I’m guessing there was a shift change and we had a second waiter who was assigned to us. He never came to check on us and ask if we needed anything. When my date went to pay he had the nerve to ask him about his tip and say ‘that’s it?’, like he was deserving of more when only stopping at the table to pick up empty dishes. Besides the snarky entitlement from the second waiter everything else was great.

  • Review 86 (2024-10-26 - Rating: 4)

  • Review 87 (2023-04-30 - Rating: 4)

Beautiful aesthetics, good food and nice servers. My only problem was that the bar chairs that I was put on was a bit wobbly and not very plus size friendly.

  • Review 88 (2022-11-20 - Rating: 5)

I love having brunch here. Its always easy to get a seat even when you havent made reservations. Somehow its packed but also easy to find a table. The food is great. But its often super loud inside. You end up talking even louder so that your companions can hear you.

  • Review 89 (2025-01-02 - Rating: 5)

Great service and food .Downsides are that it’s extremely noisy and the stairs down to restrooms are painted black and lighting very poor so it’s quite hazardous . Heard several people complaining about it

  • Review 93 (2019-04-07 - Rating: 5)

Place is great. Definitely could have turned the heat down but food, drinks and service was great. Calamari was great, pork chop with jalapeno grits was really good. Not any southern grits but thats what they said it was. Sea bass was amazing. Like something spicy get a bloody Mary my mouth was on fire.

  • Review 97 (2018-10-03 - Rating: 5)

This is a nice restaurant. I have only been once. What I ate was good, Fried Calamari and a Caesar Salad, not much ☺. The employees were kind and I was waited on in a sufficient amount of time. My suggestion for this restaurant is to make reservations because they seem to get a bit crowded. Although I did go around lunch time so theres that 😏. Plenty of seating though. The only thing I do not really care for is that they have a few tall picnic style tables that seat about 10 plus people. I went in by myself and was seated here. If you are with someone it may be okay because you are constantly talking and looking at them but its awkward if you are alone LOL just saying. Other than that the place is great 😀.

  • Review 98 (2024-05-10 - Rating: 4)

The Cheeseburger was great little pricing but taste made up for it. Tables little close together you could share fries with neighbors. Nice decor. Service was a little slow but may just not be rushing you.

  • Review 102 (2024-04-28 - Rating: 4)

The Smith is a renowned spot, known for its vibrant atmosphere and popular brunch options. With a diverse menu, newcomers may feel overwhelmed. However, the spacious, retro-style interior makes it ideal for large gatherings. Opting for the fried calamari and grilled chicken sandwich, I was pleasantly surprised by their exceptional seasoning and flavorful sauces. The blend of spicy, sweet, and salty notes created a delightful harmony. This location is especially suited for hosting gatherings when youre in need of a spacious, crowd-pleasing venue!

  • Review 120 (2022-05-25 - Rating: 4)

Had dinner here with my team after a meeting. Got the classics - burger, fried chicken, salmon and they were reliably good. Cocktails were also yum.We were sat outside though which wasn’t great with the traffic and chaos in midtown. Also worried about the bike lane as we were dangerously by the road. Frankly more worried about the service crew who constantly cross and bring out orders given how bikers can go crazy sometimes.

  • Review 121 (2018-08-23 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 122 (2023-12-08 - Rating: 5)

WOW this place is good. The burger especially was SPECTACULAR. Also, and I know this may be a strange area of focus, but the bathrooms are just so cool? The sinks are dope - like bathtubs really. And it’s just one bathroom for all genders, with a bunch of individual stalls. And there are these cool red incandescent lights over each bathroom stall indicating whether they’re occupied. Anyway, 10/10, what a magical place.

The service was good, friendly staff, we got seated right away. It’s on the pricier side for breakfast food but well worth the cost. One draw back was the noise in the restaurant. I’ve been a huge fan of The Smith for a long time. It’s a spacious restaurant (rare for NYC) with delicious food for every meal. Most recently had brunch and got the Eggs & Bacon dish which was delicious!! Didn’t look like much but the taste of every item was amazing, especially the potato waffles. And don’t skip out on the biscuits with honey butter to start. The service was also so great - thank you Michael!

Very good. I guess there is substance to the hype. There were a ton of people on Monday night and even people waiting for a table. Quality of the food and service is very good. Maybe not the absolute best place to go for a great meal, but its certainly very good. The best thing may have been this dessert Smore (pictured).

  • Review 147 (2024-03-27 - Rating: 5)

The Smith is just a fun place to meet up with old friends and new friends. The energy level is just right. Happy and boisterous but not so loud that you can’t have a conversation and the food is healthy and the drinks are great. Try the Bi Bim Bop - it’s awesome to find this dish outside of a Korean restaurant, and is one of my all time favorites at the Smith. I am a regular.

  • Review 148 (2023-11-28 - Rating: 5)

Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience at The Smith in NYC. The atmosphere is definitely an upscale feeling, and it is definitely $$$. I don’t recommend coming here if you’re worried about pinching Pennies.I ordered one of the burgers, it came out in a timely fashion and tasted amazing. The fries were a little too thin cut, but there was a good portion, and they were nice and crispy. The bartender was great. I forget his name but he was very attentive, prompt, and made tasty drinks.Recommended if you’re looking for a more upscale experience in the specific area.

If your looking for an upbeat atmosphere with good energy, this is it. The Smith is a popular spot on Friday night and reservations are recommended. The staff is very friendly and helpful if you need a recommendation from the menu. The food is fantastic. You wont go wrong with the calamari for an appetizer. The sauce has a bit of a kick but its not too much. The Crabcake BLT is outstanding and their signature Chicken/Garlic Mashed potato dish is what dreams are made of.If youre staying at the Doubletree Metropolitan then you definitely must check out The Smith.

  • Review 171 (2023-06-24 - Rating: 4)

Food is always consistently great and fast. Service is friendly and personable though during busy times you might have to flag down the waitstaff for the check. My only consistent feedback in all locations is the atmosphere is lively in a good way however with all the subway tiles its tough to hear with the ambient noise so loud. If they could cork or do something to the ceilings it might keep the liveliness and not require guests to raise their voices when talking to the person across the table.

Great food, friendly and professional staff, excellent service. My favourite is the Chicken Sandwich, classic dish which is made to perfection here. Everything on the menu looks great!

Super fun I recommend the mac and cheese it was the best I’ve ever had. They have a Photo Booth in the basement. Very nice service

We went here for dinner - Excellent pork chop, burger & steak! The cheesey jalapeño grits were really good- and the Mac & cheese was excellent. Really good service, be careful if you sit outside as the bike lane is directly between the restaurant and outside seating… so many e-bikes & mopeds that it can get a little dicey…

I wanted to try a new sandwich/burger and found a photo with reviews. One of the best classic burger & fries combinations ever! Photo while waiting for takeout.

Outstanding food, service, value and ambiance. Went Monday evening for dinner with friend. Reservations recommended. Request the bar area if you prefer lower volume. Highly recommend the Butternut schnitzel. Huge portion, flavor explosion. Their cocktails are creative and well priced. The servers are professional, friendly. No rush. Cant praise it enough. Restroom down a flight of stairs.

My husband and I loved this place. We met the manager years ago and he was always good to us. My waiter for the day was Alfonso and because I was undecided what I wanted to eat, I was given my avocado toast and French toast on the house as well as a bag of chocolate chip cookies. I can’t say too much more about my service and how kind they were to me. Management is awesome!!!Until I see them again.Deborah Moore

It’s a nice place good atmosphere to noisy for me food is good we had calamari and NY steak the service was good and they where very generous with my whiskey i gave them only 4 star the reason is that the portions are a little bit small for the price they charge
