We had the pork trotters noodles and the oxtail bone broth noodles, and both were absolutely fantastic! The pork trotters were perfectly tender with a rich and flavorful sauce that paired so well with the noodles. The oxtail bone broth was deeply satisfying—comforting, savory, and packed with depth of flavor. The noodles were cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of chew. The portions were generous, and the presentation was appealing. Overall, a wonderful dining experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic and delicious noodle dishes. I’ll definitely be back to try more! -

The Tang just reopened! Was missing my chicken soup 🥹There are quite a few new dishes and the price was adjusted down. With so much meat and vegetables in their noodles this is such a bargain compared to the other $20+ shops. Flavors are good too. I liked the beef and the pig trotter noodles especially.Tried some of their new cocktails - cucumber flavor is very unique and cool. Will come back again. -

Second time coming! Excellent food as usual especially loved the cabbage and soup dumpling! The mango cocktail is also super tasty and delicious❤️ would recommend to everyone next to Columbia -

Dont sleep on this place!! Best noodle soup spot in town! I had the herbal chicken noodle soup, the broth was delicious, the meat super tender, and I swear this soup helped me recover instantly after being sick for a weekThe decor is minimal but effective, service was great -- I will be back again! 10/10 would recommend -

Had lunch here, food was good! I got the drunk noodles and it def was perfect for the cold weather. The flavors were just right, added extra spice though for just a little more kick. -

Noodles and phon are incredibly delicious. Who can understand the value of sipping a bowl of lamb soup in cold winter?🥺🥺🥺 -
Review 7 (2023-09-10 - Rating: 5)
We visited The Tang located in upper west side which the decor is modern with cozy ambiance. It’s good for a workday quick lunch but also perfect for dating. We love their Pork Dumplings in Chili Oil which was flavorful with great size of dumplings. The Salt & Pepper Ribs was decent but not as soft as expected. We shared Beef Noodles Soup, Cold Noodles and Spicy Diced Chicken with a group of five people. Both noodles were delicious with good portion and their braised eggs were impressively satisfying. -

Review 9 (2024-11-19 - Rating: 5)
Very good Asian food and pretty reasonably priced for the UWS! I got the popcorn chicken and it was super crispy and flavorful. Super cool intimate vibe with the chefs cooking right in the dining room. Definitely make a reservation though as its a pretty small place. We also got 33% off because it was the Grand Opening! Overall, a great choice for a date or going out spot with a great menu. -
Review 10 (2024-11-24 - Rating: 5)
Braised beef noodle soup and chicken noodle soup hit the spot on a cold day!! definitely recommend -
Review 11 (2023-10-15 - Rating: 5)
Ordered Braised Beef Noode Soup and it was overall good except for one piece of beef I tasted. Will definitely go again. The only complaint is that they use metal chopsticks and spoons, so they be very hot in hot soup. Be aware.TIP CHECK:- Tip before tax or after tax: Before tax- Double tipping: No- Minimal suggested rate: 18% -
Review 12 (2024-11-20 - Rating: 5)
Food was good but more on the oily sideIt’s crowded probably because of the opening so a bit slow on serviceBut overall would come back and recommend! -
Review 13 (2024-05-09 - Rating: 5)
I have to say this place was phenomenal, went in for a quick bite and received quick and wonderful service. The food was delicious and I will be coming again. -
Review 14 (2025-01-02 - Rating: 5)
Had an excellent chongqing chicken here. Perfectly fried chicken, very dry, minimal oily, and amazingly fragrant and delicious spicy peppers. -
Review 15 (2023-04-03 - Rating: 4)
I ordered the oxtail beef noodle soup and i also tried their herbal chicken noodle soup (not pictured). both were very solid dishes (i’d rate the oxtail 4 out of 5 and the herbal chicken 4.5 out of 5). the broth for both was light but savory and had a home-cooked, rustic feel. the oxtail had small chunks of meat that were full of flavor and beefy goodness; however, if there’s one dish i’d recommend from here it’s their herbal chicken noodle soup— the broth is so incredibly good (definitely hit the spot for me, a soup enthusiast). noodle texture for both were on the softer side (i typically prefer a bit more bounce). i’d say my desire for this style of cooking is definitely more dependent on my mood/feel—perfect for the winter season or if you’re sick! -

Went to the Grand reOpening. New to the area so have never been before. Was very impressed. Food was delicious. Stinky Tofu was...very stinky. Paired well with the wine. Prices are super reasonable, the manager was very attentive and the staff are hard working. Dig the atmosphere although interesting choice of music playlist. -

Review 27 (2019-06-02 - Rating: 4)
This is a great, new Chinese place serving ”what people eat now” Chinese food. The only bad things are the terrible seats. They just had to make small, low seats that are made only for small legs. But the booths look good. Sit on the booths if you come. The atmosphere here is lovely. There is not too much lighting, but there is enough of it. The music is not loud, but not quiet (and they play ok music.) It was not too loud when I went there, and I went there when it just opened. The service was very good. The people that worked there were friendly. The food was the best part of this place. I highly recommend trying the steamed pork dumplings. They were not that spicy and they tasted as dumplings should taste like. I ordered the braised beef noodle soup. That was good as well. The soup was tasty and spicy, and the noodles were thick. The scallion pancakes were good. They were warm and straight out of the oven. But they could have been thicker. -

Delicious! Noodles were fresh and chewy. We got pan fried pork and chive dumplings, they were great. I got the beef braised noodle soup, so tasty! Hit the spot. -
Review 33 (2024-04-08 - Rating: 4)
Decent place. Our waiter was very attentive and wonderful. The food was just okay. We ordered from the vegetarian selection and at the bottom of the cabbage bowl were bits of shredded beef. We’re not strict, but that was strange. The vegetable fried rice was just okay. The add on noddles was plain we asked for soy sauce and use the duck sauce from our spring rolls to give it some flavor. I left full, but the food didn’t really wow either of us.But again, the service was great! -
Review 34 (2024-11-27 - Rating: 5)

Loved this cute and cozy Chinese noodle shop on the UWS! You can watch them cook in their open kitchen so we loved sitting at the counter. Everything came out hot and fresh from the dumplings to the noodles. The vegetarian options were also delicious. Staff was very friendly. Please support your local and small businesses! -

Such a welcoming place! Dan Dan noodles hit the spot on a cold day. The staff was super friendly, and sweet. Although I did take out, the restaurant looks incredible! Although the noodles are not advertised as spicy, I would’ve loved a kick. -
Review 46 (2022-06-16 - Rating: 5)
[5/5, New York, NY] Solid 5/5 for taste and price. What a gem! Herbal chicken noodle soup was rich and tasty. Braised beef noodle had amazing beef. The stir fried beef noodle had very tender beef. Salted egg yolk prawn. Mouth watering chicken (spicy cold chicken appetizer). Spicy wanton. Everything in this picture with tip was only $110 for 4 pax. Amazing price to value ratio. Would definitely come back again. -
Review 47 (2023-05-27 - Rating: 4)
None of what we ordered was good. Didnt have a most of the beers on the beer menu, nor the two beers written on the wall when you walk in. Chicken wing wasnt crispy and the plum powder was weird. Eggplant century egg had 4 small pieces and the eggplant chips were soggy. Oxtail noodles and chicken noodles both tasted artificial yet bland. Not good. -
Review 48 (2024-11-25 - Rating: 5)
Food was excellent. Pork buns in particular! -

Review 50 (2022-06-09 - Rating: 5)
I came here for lunch with my friend. So glad we came here, I gotta say this is the best noodles spot in the neighborhood! I really love the beef in the noodles, so tasty and cooked very well. The small dishes dumplings in chilli oil and Taiwanese Sausage are soooo good. Im also obsessed with their prawns with Salted Egg Yolk. Cant wait to go there for Happy hour next time!!! -
Review 51 (2023-01-24 - Rating: 5)
Five stars for the flavor and service. This is a relatively new Chinese restaurant that serves modern food. The flavors are slightly adapted for a western palette (the desserts are especially fusion), but remain true to tradition. The char siu was tender and flavorful, the Taiwanese sausage delicious, and the beef noodle soup a comforting meal on a cold winter day. I also appreciate that The Tang offers a separate menu section for vegetarian options. -

Review 63 (2022-08-02 - Rating: 5)
Came here with some friends after a day of drinking, and I left happy, full, and satisfied. Definitely need to come back here again and try out the rest of the menu. -
Review 64 (2022-06-20 - Rating: 5)
I got the garlic pork dumplings & scallion oil noodles. Both were very good including portion size. I wish the dumplings had some chives or green onions in addition to the garlic flavor since I think it needed a little more flavor but still very good. The service was wonderful. Very fast and attentive - my water was never empty. All the food was prepared fresh. The restaurant decor and ambience was also excellent. -
Review 65 (2023-08-03 - Rating: 5)
The atmosphere of this place is so cool and vibey. We went for lunch and it was pretty dead at the time. The spicy wontons were just okay but the soup was SO good. I loved it. It was so flavorful and came out pretty quickly. Will definitely be back. -
Review 66 (2024-11-23 - Rating: 5)
Lamb hotpot is a great choice for the winter. The soup is terrific. -
Review 67 (2019-08-13 - Rating: 5)
Just had the most amazing meal here. First off, the restaurant is gorgeously elegant which makes the dining experience that much more memorable. It’s not a large space but it is thoughtfully laid out. I love the bar area in front overlooking Amsterdam Ave. And the hand painted wall murals are beautiful. Almost every angle of this restaurant is Instagram worthy.Does the food live up to the décor? YES! So happy we got to come for a food tasting. We ordered quite a lot of food (for two people) when we were here. We ordered the fried pork buns, roasted eggplants, scallion oil noodles, pineapple fried rice with shrimp and the veggie summer roll. The fried pork buns were amazing. The braised pork belly melts in your mouth. This was by far my favorite dish of the night. The roasted eggplants were another great dish. The soybean paste and bonito flakes really helped to elevated the eggplants. The pineapple fried rice was great and I loved the shredded pork garnish. The scallion oil noodles had great flavor. The dish was smaller than I was expecting but the noodles were wonderful. Cooked right and not overdone. The summer roll was okay. We ordered it because it looked like it was a new addition to the menu. I think this dish was overshadowed by the fried buns and roasted eggplants. We also ordered desserts and got the fried buns with condensed milk and a scoop of the lychee ice cream. The lychee ice cream was surprisingly forgettable, but the fried buns were a winner. It had a thin coating of caramelized sugar and had a nice crunch as you bit into it. It did not need the condensed milk dip, in my opinion.I definitely want to go back and try more of their menu. Or possibly just order 10 plates of the fried pork buns—they were the bomb. -

I like their noodles but the Dan Dan is really way too salty. I ordered it the first time I was there and my daughter ordered it the second time we were there. We both need hot water over it to turn it into soup noodles. Hope they can improve -
Review 72 (2019-07-05 - Rating: 5)
Fantastic Chinese restaurant! Interior is very clean and modern. The menu covers a wide variety of food, but is not so extensive you dont know what to order.I ordered the herbal chicken noodle soup and it was absolutely amazing. The herbal chicken soup might be an acquired taste but I loved it. The broth was flavorful and light and it came with an entire chicken thigh. The noodles were wonderful. Perfect amount of chewiness, cooked right to perfection. By the time i was done, i cleaned out the entire bowl, broth included.Definitely want to try more of their dishes if im ever back in the area. -

Review 76 (2022-02-13 - Rating: 5)
Make The Tang Dandy Dandy again!Just heard the news last night that theyve taken Dan Dan Noodles off the menu. My hunch is at too many non-Chinese customers simply dont like such a pungently hot noodle dish. My suggestion is that they bring it back as a special, perhaps on the weekends. Also, unless I misunderstood, I would prefer that the Lao Gan Ma sauce be made in-house.You should go here. Its a terrific Chinese restaurant. -

Most authentic braised beef noodles I’ve ever had in the city!!! Reminds me of my childhood eating this with my dad!Braised beef are so tender, soups on point but not too salty. My only issue is the egg. Wish it wasn’t smoked and more cooked, the smell just made me sick :( Will definitely order again without the egg though!!! Highly recommended 👍 -

This place is amazing! I don’t leave reviews often but I just had to for this spot. The food was beyond good; especially the Crispy Tofu and Garlic Pork Dumplings. There was no wait to be seated and the service was on point. Our waiter Anan was awesome! Very polite and frequently checking to see if we were alright. Would 10/10 recommend. -

Review 103 (2020-01-18 - Rating: 5)
This place is very good for eating. This restaurant works for pretty much every dining situation. We say “pretty much” so you don’t complain to us after showing up to this all-day spot in Washington Heights looking for a white tablecloth restaurant to celebrate an anniversary or a divorce. But from breakfast on your way to work or fried chicken with a group to cocktails and pizza with a date. Once you eat at The Tang, you’ll instinctively wander back whenever you need some good, quick food that’s not too pricey. This is a Chinese noodle bar on the Upper West Side with a big selection of things like dan dan noodles, roasted bone marrow, fried beef buns. If you just want one thing, go for the signature beef noodle soup with chewy noodles, tender beef, and a smokey soft-boiled egg. There’s a bar overlooking the kitchen where you can eat by yourself, and there are also a bunch of tables in the sleek space where you can grab a casual weeknight dinner with a friend. -

Absolutely outstanding. The Tang boasts a carefully curated menu of traditional Chinese classics with a modern twist. My mum is from Shanghai and I grew up with legit Chinese food. We had things like pig knuckles and ears, herbal chicken soup, and all sorts of delicious veggies. They have all of that here and they do it with care and creativity.Highly recommend this place if youre looking for modern, refined, yet authentic Chinese food. They even gave us a free hojicha (roasted tea) panacotta on our way out. So good! -

Visited this cute and cozy Chinese noodle restaurant at the UWS. They have a modern and cool vibe. They have an open kitchen concept so if you sit by the counter you can see the chefs cook your food. The main dish that people recommended was the braise beef noodles and it was pretty good. The beef was tender and there was a lot of flavor. Even though it mentioned that its spicy I find it moderate even though I cant eat spicy food.My friend got the oxtail beef noodle soup. This is good if you want something light because the flavor is definitely not as strong as the beef noodles. Some dishes we got to share was the fried tiger prawns with salted egg yolk, braised beef lucky bag and the pan fried turnip cake. They were all so delicious and portion size was great. If I have to recommend a few dishes I would definitely go for the fried tiger prawns with salted egg yolks. The prawns were so fresh and huge. The braised beef lucky bags. Its so tasty. A lot of flavors in every bite and the braised beef noodle soup. -

We love the Tang. Its a slightly more upscale Chinese place that has a slightly more focused menu than the traditional Chinese restaurant. Our favorites are their spicy diced chicken and drunken noodle soup. I took my family here after their flight came in from SF since its close to my place, and they quickly became obsessed with it and insist on coming back every time theyre in town. We dine in and get take out regularly. -

Some of the best Chinese food I’ve had in the Harlem area. I wish they delivered to me in East Harlem! Maybe theyll open a 2nd restaurant on the East Side ;) -

Best! -

Besides the name of the restaurant reminding me of my childhood orange colored space program breakfast drink, the place is awesome. Menu is fantastic, New items are great. It looks like a kinda-trendy-for-upper-UWS place, but the kitchen and menu are world class. imho -

Wow! I dont know what else to say! This place has delicious food (with a menu that changes seasonally), great and attentive service (water is always filled) and a great atmosphere! The open kitchen provides a great view of the food being made and it is great to have a local spot with such fest and tasty options. In addition, they have some fun drink options as well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic Chinese restaurant! -

Been to The Tang three times and have been consistently impressed. The food is well prepared and the noodle broths are rich and homely. Dishes weve liked from our visits include the Mouth Watering Boneless Chicken Thigh, the Winter Melon with Dried Scallop, the Braised Beef noodles, the Drunken Noodles and the Herbal Chicken noodles (which is really excellent). Prices, while higher than typical Chinese restaurants, are reasonable for the complexity of the dishes and commensurate with other locations in the neighborhood. -

This is very good Japanese food. You can carry a conversation because the music is not overpowering. -

I’m impressed at the authenticity and love that goes into these dishes. I saw some reviews saying the quality has gone down- I haven’t noticed that. I hope the quality stays strong because it’s a unique find for those who appreciate Asian cuisine prepared with care. -
Review 124 (2022-07-13 - Rating: 5)
This place is amazing. A hidden gem. Takes basic Asian dishes and elevates them to a delicious and elegant form. The interior is clean, but pretty utilitarian. The neighborhood is less than desirable...but the food...oh the food. Authentic classic dishes with a little twist. So yummy! -

I came here a few weeks ago and I am still thinking about the food here! The naughty tofu was really good. I also had the stir-fried shredded cabbage and who knew that it would be that well-seasoned and delicious. My friend ordered the Braised Beef Noodle Soup and enjoyed it. This is a great place for a late-night dinner. 100% recommend! -
Review 132 (2021-09-27 - Rating: 5)
Everything here is amazing. Their signature soup is a flavor bomb (but lots of oil in case you’re conscious of that), my friend ordered the chicken soup and it was everything he wanted on a grey rainy day. Garlic pork dumplings were the best I’ve had in a long time. Side note- the bathrooms are really cool. -

Good noodle joint. Good service - I did not want to do takeout since the noodles get soggy - but did not want to eat indoors either. They set up a table just for us. That’s service. Had the spicy beef noodle soup and spicy chili chicken, as well as Dan Dan men. All good and authentic Chinese. My to go for noodles in the neighborhood. -

Was looking for food on my lunch break and stumbled upon this place. Got braised beef noodle soup, chilled beef slices, and pork and chive fried dumplings. Noodles are bouncy, broth is tasty, meat so tender it was actually kinda hard to handle with chopsticks. The eggs in the noodle soup tasted AMAZING! The dumpling skin was a little thick but very tasty. Staff was very nice, food came out quick, and the kitchen was wide open and very clean. One of my new favorite places in NYC, just wish I’d known about it sooner. Definitely coming back to try other parts of the menu. Can’t wait until pandemic runs its course and I can come and sit down at this place, but so far their takeout game is on point. -

Service was excellent. Atmosphere was elegant and music was a nice touch. The food is where my visit topped the charts. The garlic pork dumplings were heavenly, seasoned and fresh greens really pop with the savory goodness of the pork! The spring rolls were the best I’ve ever had. Crisp and flavorful and the dipping sauce was on point!! Noodles of the Goddess! Nuff said! Braised beef noodle for the win! No fancy dessert. -

Braised beef are so tender, soups on point but not too salty. My only issue is the egg. Wish it wasn’t smoked and more cooked, the smell just made me sick :( Will definitely order again without the egg though!!! Highly recommended 👍 -

We ate dinner on a Sunday evening. We ordered a chicken soup noodle, zjm noodle and Taiwan beer. The chicken soup was very flavorful, with many pieces of very tender chicken. Zjm noodle is a little on the sweet side, they do give you a lot of meat sauce. Taiwan Beer was served with chilled glass. The waiter and waitress are very nice. I definitely recommend this place! -
