An old school pub styled with dark wood panelled interiors, the wheeltapper is charmingly modelled on the interior of old railway carriages. It serves as a kind of living museum for the old railway, with lots of old and interesting memorabilia. The menu includes some traditional pub fare. I enjoyed a decent portion of fish and chips! -

We attended a large holiday event, with lots of children. The staff went above and beyond to care for us and make sure the event felt magical. I cannot say enough great things about the space and the incredible work that the staff did. We cannot wait to go back! -

Stopped in to get out of the wind. Quaint little Irish Pub with lots of wood, and rustic appeal. I had the calamari which was good, with a pint of Guinness. Service was quick, and to the point. We enjoyed ourselves. -

Great pub with drinks and food to go with coworkers. They have a nice outdoor area in the back. Ive had their french fries, sweet potato fries, chicken tenders and nachos which were all delicious. Even their steamed veggies were good. The calamari was light on the batter. -

This is a perfect place for drinks and after-work happy hours! It has an amazing open-air space in the back, which is covered and cozy in the winter and breeze and open in the summer. Every time we’ve had Sybil as our server there, she’s been so wonderful—kind, speedy, and fun. -

Good food in a wonderful space. NYC power broker crowd after work, but not pretentious. A go to for drinks, bar fare, and an important conversation if you are in the Grand Central area. -

If youre too early for a Yankees or Mets Game or waiting for the train home at Grand Central - The Wheeltapper is a good place to wait and grab a beer or two. A quick drink after work to wind down. Two bars guarantees a space to sit if you come in early enough before the after work groups come in.Its a fun place for St. Patricks shenanigans. And if youre around the area for the holidays, they are also open! The food is great! Filling and delicious. Recommend Buffalo wings, Potato skins, Sheppard Pie, Pot Pie, Smash Burger, the Salmon Entree and the Spicy Sriracha Chicken Sandwich (extra jalapeños please)! -

Came here for the first time, at first hard to figure out where to go BUT once someone help me....it was GREAT! The ladies at the bar very nice and pleasant. The food DELICIOUS!! I work in the city about twice a month and you best believe this will be a spot for one of those day. I will definitely be back for more!! -

Adorable little restaurant in a convenient location. We went there while we waited for our time to go to Summit, and the staff were terrific. The food portions were large and delicious, and the specialty cocktails were tasty. Service was quick and friendly, and staff helped us with recommendations. Highly recommend this gem ❤️ -

This is a place that should NOT be missed! This small train themed Irish pub is quaint and lovely. Kris is one of the best bartenders to have served me drinks. His kindness is beyond measure and his professionalism and level of hospitality is beyond measure! I cannot wait until my next visit to NYC so I can enjoy the atmosphere here once again! -

So I was in town at the end of May visiting family and at the time Wheeltapper wasn’t listed separately on Google Maps but instead was part of the Fitzpatrick’s page.If it’s available the patio is where you want to be. After spending hours in the organized chaos of Summit One the chill ambiance was a great way to decompress. The indoor seating area appeared to be closed for some reason.Everyone seemed to enjoy their dishes, no complaints. The fish and chips was stellar, one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly friend, not too greasy like most people do. The only thing that threw us off was the bill being combined automatically for a table with three separate groups. A minor annoyance, no biggie -

It was Christmas, very festive, free mulled wine. I love this bar. -
Review 17 (2023-02-25 - Rating: 5)
Much better than I expected. We went on a quiet Saturday lunch. We had the steamed dumplings, chicken club and potatoe skins. All good. Was expecting mediocre pub food, but was happy it was much better. And the club was a real club, with 3 slices of bread (not a chicken sandwich with bacon!) -

Classic Irish pub. Beautiful dark wood trimmed interior, subtle lighting. Small bar in front, larger bar area with high tables in back. Nice, private booth seating in front and middle of restaurant. Good menu, appetizers, salads, sandwiches, entrées. Good drink selection, cocktails, mixed drinks, whiskeys, bears bottled and draft options. Very convenient location for Grand Central Terminal (GCT). -

Shepard pie was good. On the small size for $20 but what do you expect. Pros are a quiet lunch spot and service with a smile! Also great alternative if just coming into NYC on the train from Grand Central. Did also visit on a Saturday morning for breakfast with family and it was great because you get to sit down and get your plan together for the day and everyone gets fed… especially if you have kids with you. -

Review 23 (2023-08-10 - Rating: 5)
Depending on the section, it can be very loud, making it difficult to have a conversation. But there are quieter tables and booths available. Service is top notch. -

Review 25 (2023-03-01 - Rating: 5)

Review 27 (2023-01-15 - Rating: 4)
A great English/ Irish pub.Definitely an after work drinks kind of location and crowd. During work hours, the bar looks so empty/ so quiet. But the moment happy hours strikes 🍻🍻 so come early to get a table. It can get cramped so be wary.I think they have a happy hour but I dont remember. Beers were reasonably priced. The place is pretty big if you walk all the way into the back.Pretty is pretty interesting. They basically repurposed all old instruments, tools devices etc. and mounted them. Like this way of preserving history, gives you something to look at and learn and reduces or land fills! -
