    First time getting food from here. I called in for an order of mild buffalo wings to go. Quick service, warm and welcoming staff and fresh, flavorful wings. The bleu cheese was really good, too! Cant wait to try their other menu items and dine-in.

    Tubby Hook is a neighborhood fav for my wife and I who live just around the corner on 207. I recently had my birthday party here with about 10 people and it was easy to book and set up. It was very fortunate that they didnt ask me to pay for a reservation for so many people, and they gave me a variety of options for having food and/or drinks served. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is excellent, the drinks are delicious and the food is pretty good.

    An absolute hidden gem that genuinely surprised me the first time I went here!! This place is fun (trivia night, karaoke night, live bands, special events), the food is good and Ive enjoyed pretty much everything Ive had here, and the staff is so kind!! Anytime my family or friends visit we have to take a trip inside here. Very much so one of my faves in my neighborhood.

    Great neighborhood pub with food thats better than the typical pub food. Friendly helpful staff. Great beer selection. Conveniently located near the A train and bus lines. Music is not too loud so you can actually talk with your partner or friends. For a quick drink, a starter from the menu, this is often the first place we go.

    This place goes above and beyond to celebrate every occasion. There is definitely a nice community vibe that you dont get from a lot of places in this neighborhood anymore. The drinks are good. They dont skimp on the alcohol like some of their sister locations. The bar staff is fast and gets along well with the regulars, and the owner is very friendly and inviting. The wait staff is ver attentive and passes by often to check on you. The location is prime, next to bus routes and trains. They host trivia night and many other events and really know how to get into the spirit of things. The one place I think they could improve is consistency with food. Some of their options are just ok, while some others are good. It depends on your taste. However, they have the best hashbrowns Ive ever had. They are perfectly cooked to provide the perfect amount of crunch and flavor. Some of their seasonal salads are great, and some soups are good, but some food is typical american bar food. Youll be fine if youre into that. I recommend this place if youre looking to get away from the loud, party spots and just want a neighborhood spot to have a drink alone or with friends. If you are a loner or prefer groups, youll be good here either way. They close late , which is a big plus.

    This is our favorite spot in the neighborhood - we came up here from Harlem in 2020 and it saved our lives - in an Irish bar where we could get a drink when COVID restrictions were in place. A friendly local pub where the drinks are always good and the food is fantastic AND consistent! Love love love it!

    Even though I miss The Pipers Kilt terribly, Im forced to admit that they did a great job renovating this space. The large windows and outdoor space are a great change.Food, booze, and beer choices are pretty solid, though of love to see some craft beer. The fried chicken sandwich is consistently great and Ill never complain about tater tots.The only thing I dont think that they addressed well in the renovations is the bathrooms. Still the somewhat unpleasant closets of days gone by. Cant knock a star for it, though.

    Been here a few times, pretty good overall. Staff are always friendly, always a new beer on rotation. Good size servings but the food quality can be inconsistent and is a little overpriced. Atmosphere can also be a mixed bag.

    Went there in mid-November (2022). The mushroom burger was delicious, perhaps smaller than I hoped, the fries were also good but the complementary chili was way too spicy, even for me. Great little place to grab a burger and a beer though, and the customer service is great (something, unfortunately, not common in that area).

    Great spot for a burger or chicken sandwich. Ive had a few different burgers here, my favorite is the French onion soup burger. The chicken sandwich is also very good. Staff is friendly and attentive. Nice little tavern to watch a game at.

    I used to go there back in the 90s when I worked up in that neighborhood. At that time it was known as Piper kilts. Good to know that the drinks and burgers are still good. Would definitely go back.

    Wonderful atmosphere and great staff. Amazing burgers and food. You can eat inside or outside. Dog friendly outside. A bit congested with the bus, but you will completly forget it after a while. Kid-friendly as well.

    We went on a Sunday, post-brunch. Our server disappeared after we asked for a minute with the menus; another server (David, a very attentive and sweet guy, and the only reason this review has four stars) had to take our order. I asked for a drink, which was brought over by our missing server, arrived in a can, no glass, no straw, nothing. No cutlery or napkins, they were brought only after we asked.Only two things are gluten-free: chicken wings (vegan chicken is an option) or guac and chips. Our MIA server reappeared and wasn’t remotely helpful: “Yeah, we don’t have anything for you, sorry.”We asked for medium spicy chicken wings since a member of the party cannot eat very spicy food. Really good, but definitely more on the spicy side still. BBQ wings (our do-over attempt) were great for both fire-breathing and fire-incapable parties.To be clear: the food is great, but if you have any dietary restrictions (hi, celiac), this might be problematic. Also, the kitchen might change its menu without notifying the servers, which can suck.The runner was very eager to please and decided to pour water in my White Claw. But yeah, sh*t happens and this was an easy mistake to make. #ProtectTheClaw

    Tubby Hook is for the most part a very local neighborhood bar. When I used to live here it was my go to place, local place with good food and good beer selection and mixed drinks.They have weekly events like Trivia and sometimes a party night. Also holiday events like Halloween best costume for example.Kitchen is open late, right off A train stop, love this place.

    This place is an Inwood staple. Friendly crowd and nice place to drink.They are cursed with an inconsistent kitchen. Over the last four years Ive had meals ranging from one star to five stars... but I keep going back.

    Ill always have a special place in my heart for the old Pipers Kilt. However Tubby Hook holds it own. It is a solid place and has kept the old traditional decor.Sadly the burgers arent as good anymore (Pipers Kilt was rated the best burger in NYC after all). Yet the menu is solid and Im glad Tubby Hook is in the neighborhood. Still the best burger joint in Upper Manhattan.Ohh, definitely worth mentioning that the service is now very good!

    It took a few years, but Tubby Hook is now an excellent neighborhood pub. The food is better. The burgers are now excellent. The service has stepped up. It feels like it is now in sync with Inwood. Its a pub we can be proud of.

    I mainly go for Tuesday Trivia, which I enjoy very much, mainly because the host is very upbeat and funny. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. The food menu is somewhat limited, even compared to other pubs, but there are certain dishes I like, such as the short rib french dip hero. Id recommend Tubby Hook, especially on Tuesday nights for trivia.

    Very friendly and family oriented.Many ppl had baby strollers and young children under six years of age before sunset.Alcoholic drinks are average but the food was good, well portioned and a variety of comfort/pub food.

    Free mimosa or coffee when we were there on a Saturday. I am of course happy anywhere they offer me a free mimosa. I ordered the chicken and waffles which I really enjoyed as well. My wife had the Breakfast bowl which was good. However we got a wrong menu which said there was supposed to be spinach instead it was updated with potatoes. Personally I would have preferred the spinach which is what she was expecting but fortunately loves potatoes too.

    They have loud music just to warn you but other then that they have amazing food which I wasnt really expecting. They also had a lot of different drinks to choose from. Another nice part about the place is there are a bunch of tvs there with more than just sports games which is nice. All in all, its a good place to go if your looking for a night out.

    Comfy old style Irish pub. Love how the new owners took over the old pipers and really opened up the space without losing its character. The food is flavorful. When you ask for medium, you actually get it that way. Yay. Good for hanging out with friends and convo. And plenty of screens if you want to catch the game.

    It was AWESOME! I strongly recommend the fried zucchini appetizer. It was excellent and it was large. The drinks were good too. I had the pineapple margarita and my spouse has the weisshefen grapefruit beer. Yum! (And him not a beer drinker)

    This is my local pub. Good atmosphere, especially when there is a game on, without being so loud you have to shout to make yourself heard. Decent draughts, reasonably priced whiskies and good pub food. I have a minor addiction to the fried chicken sandwich Im seeking treatment for - give it a try!

    Favorite pub in the neighborhood. Service is always amazing, and has a nice close knit feel. Brunch on weekends is awesome. Trivia on Tuesday nights is great as well.

    I went there last night since our original date spot was unexpectedly closed. My girlfriend and I got some sandwiches and sliders. No complaints. Then, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that Tuesdays is trivia night. I love trivia. We had to leave early but I got info and every Tuesday is trivia, and Thursday is karaoke. Definitely coming back.

    From the second you walk in until you will reluctantly have to leave to face the outside world, this place is a fantastic experience. The menu is diverse and well put together. Their selection of drinks, beers, and cocktails is spot on. They offer a lot of varying types of beers which you cant get at other bars. The space is open and airy and bright. The staff is extremely friendly. I only regret that I dont live in the area so that I could make this my neighborhood bar.

    Having a small dinner during happy hour is totally worth it. Social distanced seating was well done. Food was good, reliable and they adapt the menu to seasonal holidays. The servers are just the best, extremely nice, it seems like a good place to work. Owners did a great job of turning an old school Irish pub called Pipers Kilt into a neighborhood hub. This is definitely an attraction if you want to move to Inwood and you like to go out on the neighborhood.

    Good neighborhood place. Nice music. I went in on a Friday night and it wasnt too crowded. I ordered wings and they were overcooked. But the chicken parmesan and the sweet potato fries were delicious! I definitely recommend!

    The place was nice enough. The table Booth seating was very tight not reasonable for 4 people. The burgers are more or less what you expect. The ribs were very tasty I have to say. Free refills is always nice. They did get one of our orders wrong which they promptly fixed with no complaint. They were a little slow on delivering water to the table. Overall I found the experience a little pricey for what it is.

    Nice comfy neighborhood vibe - and the food is decent, if only basic pub grub. The winning note is the staff - consistently friendly and professional. The tables outside in the warmer weather struggle a bit, due to the large MTA buses that pull up right at the curb, and harsh the mellow vibe. Management: perhaps consider a row of large, tall leafy plants to block the buses out?

    A nice update for Inwood, but still maintains its character and friendly atmosphere. We went there last night for a drink and I couldnt help but order some wings despite the fact that I had just eaten dinner. Their wings are killer! On top of that, I got a little too aggressive in my wing consumption and accidentally knocked over my beer, within seconds the mess was cleaned up... not only that, the manager, server, and busser all maintained big smiles despite my table foul. Good food, great service. No doubt will be back again.
