    I rarely give bars a perfect 5 out of 5 stars, but this place absolutely deserves it! Our server, Brian, went above and beyond, ensuring we always had what we needed, even in the midst of a packed crowd. As a fellow bartender, I was genuinely impressed by the level of service. My boyfriend brought me here on Oscars night, and the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic! They had incredible specials for the event and offer even more amazing deals throughout the week. If youre searching for a fun spot with great people, this is the place to be. Ill definitely be returning and bringing as many friends as I can!

    Discovered this bar around 2016? Don’t remember the exact date. We had a fantastic time. Met the manager at the time. Nice guy.This past NYE we were looking for a bar that was open until 4 and couldn’t believe our luck. Visited the Whiskey Tavern again last night. Our Bartender’s name was Alan and he was an absolute delight. The bar was packed to the brim with people but everyone was very considerate, about personal space.Definitely worth a visit. Can’t express how friendly Alan was.

    Spent my 21st birthday here and wow can I say that was the best experience ever!! Alan was so awesome along with the rest of the staff and made my birthday so special. Drinks were so good and the staff was over the top awesome. 10/10 reccomend this place and Alan was beyond awesome. Thank you whiskey tavern for making my birthday so special !

    Incredible shout out to the team working the Christmas Eve to Christmas shift last night. That was some of the loveliest, most heartwarming inclusion, camaraderie and celebration of the spirit of the holidays that I’ve gotten to experience this season.     This is such an awesome offering in this area. Never had a pickle back but I could tell their pickle juice was absolutely legit! The service was stellar (super friendly, felt like they were part of our group without being intrusive at all). Would definitely come back and bring more friends.

    Hosted my elopement celebration in the back patio and had a great time! The space was perfect for our group. Our server Brian was super attentive and was super speedy with getting everyone drinks, even when the bar was packed. Alex also did a great job handling our reservation and setting the patio up for us. We’ll definitely be back for more!

    We happened to chance upon this establishment in search of a respite from the lively atmosphere of Chinatown. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with utmost kindness and a welcoming spirit by Ryan, a remarkable bartender. The establishment offered a diverse selection of reasonably priced options, but it was the friendly and inviting ambiance that truly set it apart. If we ever venture back to Chinatown, we will definitely stop in for a cold one.

    My gal and I were in search for a local dive bar and this did NOT disappoint. Best pickleback shots Ive ever had. The server took time to tell us the pickles and brine are all locally brought in. The food was fantastic. Good vibes. I will be back, a lot.

    Had fun time. Decent nachos. Server Brian was very good.. reminds me of my bar back in Michigan before I remodeled it 6 years ago. Good to find a neighborhood tavern style bar in the heart of NYC. In town for 6 weeks for trial of the animal that killed my daughter in Times Square so its nice to have a place to relax after seeing this POS for 7 hours a day. Highly recommended place for a good drink and affordable bite to eat.

    If a bar is one of the highlights of a New York City vacation, that says a lot about the bar. The Whiskey Tavern is one of the coolest and most authentic bars Ive ever visited.     Found this place by chance after crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. Amazing atmosphere, good vibes, happy hour deals are perfect, food is INSANE. Not only is the NFL playing but also they have movies on. Staff are so friendly and welcoming! Defo one of my fav bars in NY - we went back several times during our vacation < 3 They deserve all the tips !!

    I happend to find this place and I can’t explain how happy I am that I did! Everything about it was just such a vibe! The music! The bartender Allen! The food! The inside atmosphere! The spicey pickle back shot! They really have a good thing going on and I will def be back! Allen is top tier such a happy soul he likes his job and you can tell! I got the appetizer sampler and everything was fresh breaded and fried no frozen box stuff I was impressed crispy crunchy delicious! Cheese pull!

    We came across this bar while our friends went to get their marriage license and stopped off for a drink afterwards. The staff there were really friendly and welcoming, so we decided to stop there again for one drink after the wedding the next day. On our arrival they made such as fuss of our group we ended up spending hours there, they made the day even more special. The bar staff are amazing people, especially Colin and Alex, the atmosphere and people there were also amazing. We had the best time and would definitely recommend visiting.

    Stopped in here after walking around Chinatown. Bought two rounds of two picklebacks, and ordered an order of the mozz sticks. The mozz sticks were so delicious I didnt even get a picture, some of the best Ive ever had. The drinks were great, too. After we closed out I suggested one more pickleback and the waitress bought them for us! Super sweet waitress. Amazing little neighborhood bar to give a shot.

    This place is a GEM. Came here for our wedding after party expecting nothing special. The staff pulled out all of the stops— made us signs, treated us to rounds on the house, and made a big show about us just getting married. We felt so celebrated and it was such a great way to end the most amazing night of our lives. Huge shout out to the incredible staff for creating a fun, silly, and rowdy environment. We will never forget our night there and can’t wait to go back!

    We were looking for a place to celebrate after our civil wedding ceremony. Little did I know we picked the perfect place! When I called to make the reservation, they asked me if I was celebrating anything. I told them about the wedding. She asked for our names for the reservation then asked if I wanted to send them a picture-they would try to print it for us when we came in. WELL! They made our day so special! They had a banner, laminated signs, picklebacks for the wedding party and just made it an extraordinary day. The drinks were great and the food was yummy, too. Thank you, Alex, Rob, and Colin!

    Classic Irish-Americana tavern. Great service by Irish or Irish background staff. The ambiance if the establishment and the staff are so cool and friendly. Its been two and half years since I had a drink here. The Tavern and the region in Chinatown has rich in history; and the Manhattan Detention center was demolished!Keep supporting this establishment.

    My favourite experience in New York so far! Our waiter Sarah (sorry if I got the spelling wrong) was absolutely the best! She is so genuine and fun and clearly was having fun while doing her job fantastically. Some of the best service I’ve had! She informed me on so many cool things about New York and got my friend and I to make turkey hands! (It was thanksgiving) she truly made the experience there the best! We ordered beer and mashed potatoes and I definitely plan to go there anytime I’m in the area! So much fun!We went back the same night after charging our phones and the second waiter was just as fun and amazing! Her name has slipped my mind… she ended up giving us a free pickleback by the end of the night! (I love pickle backs so that was so great!) and my friend had his for the first time!! 100% recommend!

    For years we’ve been looking for a place where we can go for after-work drinks/happy hour. Why did it take us so long to find this place? This is the best bar/pub I’ve ever been to.     To say I loved this bar would be an understatement. It is what it is and what it is is great. Could sink several pints here with ease.     This place is the spot that has great service in such a small venue. The drinks are great and they will change it if its not to your liking.     OMG we had a great time here. Waiters and bartender are the best. Treated us like family. We evidently were not there on a weekend night which they described as a drunken good time had by all. The fried pickles appetizer is enough for 4 or more but is wonderful. Let the waiters tell you about the pickles and where they get them. And dont leave without trying the pickle juice with a shot of whiskey!!!

    Unbelievably fun bar in Chinatown. This was our first time here, just trying out new places. Rob, the bartender makes great cocktails and fills your beer all the way to the top, which is of upmost importance. Tali (spelling?), our waitress, was a blast- super friendly, and treated us like regulars. They ensured that our drinks were always full and fun was being had. They even surprised us with a sparkling, marble phallus that is indescribable and it must be seen in person. I highly recommend this joint for anyone and everyone.

    Different hours give different crowds. From opening to 1500hrs is primarily locals and tourists. From then to 1900 hrs are people that work in the area. After that till closing tends to be college age and people looking to party. Great atmosphere. Every once in a while, you could c the owner Rob (kinda looks like Dennis from Its always sunny). Great dude. He has great bartenders and diligent kitchen staff and security to match. Very packed on the days expected to be, and the days not expected to be is a very humble and chill experience. I primarily get the taters with Chipotle mayo. Once a month they have a whiskey of the month and cocktail of the month that is worth trying. Parking is extremely limited, so walk or take a cab. Remember, you in the city.

    Rachel made our night. She is cool, a great lostener, and with a level head. You might think you are at a psychiatrists office but no, you are at the whisky Tavern. Very normal place to meet friends and have drinks with bar food. Now, their bar food is a basket of bacon (yum), tater tots which aare crispy and delish, wings, ribs night since its TWednesday and pigs in a blanket!!!! OMG, it was a delish heart attack night, but so good. As i mentioned , Rachel made our night worthwhile. She checked in with us to make sure we were ok. It was a capacity crowd tonight, and seemed everyone was in a good mood. She went above service and I have her a nice tip! Well deserved! ! Yes, I would return for more bacon, and alcohol...both their specialties!!

    Ive been to Whiskey Taverns a dozen times with co-workers. Is. Not as often as most, but they never disappoint. Ive been a fan from day one. Their extensive selection of known whiskey mixed with their less known whiskeys are a great mix for a great time. However, they are wildly known for the loaded tots and their BBQ Short Ribs. The atmosphere and staff are welcoming and fun. If you are looking to unwind with coworkers or decompress with friends, then this is the spot for you.

    Rachel is an amazing server and human being! I cannot say enough good things about how awesome she is and how special she made our afternoon. 1) She had perfect timing, checking in on us but also letting us be. 2) She made not 1 but 2 special signs for the two people in our party who were getting married at the courthouse that afternoon, complete with a bucket of Champagne of Beers to celebrate. 3) She was super gracious and accommodating when one of us lost a wedding ring through a crack on the floor on the back patio, which led to us eventually having to peel up a floorboard to retrieve it. 4) She was friendly & funny with nothing but good energy.     I come to town on a regular basis and this is my go to spot, the hospitality from Ariana, Rachel, Alex, and Ryan… out of this world. Food is amazing and drinks set the bar to unmeasurable heights for the surrounding watering holes.Ariana was my first ever server and the reason I came back the next time I was in town, and every time thereafter she introduced me to amazing staff members who made the bar really feel like home. Until recently, I brought a group of colleagues in and we were served by someone named Chloe.. between getting the drinks wrong to forgetting to ring the food in to her rude attitude about why the food was wrong.. it was embarrassing for someone to sit here and tell his coworkers how amazingly everything is here, only for that to be their experience.I believe in giving everyone and everything a few chances because we all have off days. Glad I did. Alex and Rachel killed it and I’ll be sure to just avoid Chloe going forward.

    I had a special event here, and the kindness of the manager blew me away. They reserved part of their outside space for me, and even gave our group a free round of picklebacks to celebrate. I highly recommend having any event here. They have pitchers of beer, which is great for groups, and of course an amazing selection of liquor to choose from.

    After a long search, this is officially my favorite bar in all of Manhattan, as in I will literally travel out of the way just to go here!! If you are looking for a sports bar or just a bar in general, this is THE place! Not only is the food good and served quickly, the staff is beyond amazing!!     Great neighborhood bar. We stopped here while we were walking around.Very nice selection of whiskies and well priced.Also they poured doubles which is very nice and makes the price even better.Our waitress was Maya Maya.     My friend and I stopped in for a drink after having an ordeal of a day. We were emotionally drained, and although it seemed a bit loud at first, we sat in the back away from the lively lunch crowd in front. Our server Alex - an incredible unicorn of a human being. Introduced herself, asked us our names and came back with a sweet sign she had printed. Genuine kindness from a total stranger isnt something I come across very often.I didnt order food, but the Bloody Mary was delicious, but spicy. Not your generic bottled mix, they batch their own.I highly recommend stopping in if ever in the neighborhood, very friendly crowd. You can walk in alone and leave having made new friends.

    This is quite literally my favorite place in the city. I’ve been coming here since 2014 and it never disappoints. The music and vibes are always exactly what you need. It gets pretty busy especially on the weekends and holidays but if you can find a pocket of space it’s worth it. I’ve brought so many different friends here and they always enjoy it. (And if they don’t that says more about them than this place)

    Great bar food (love their wings and nachos), reasonable prices, and very friendly, fun staff. They have a cool area in the back. Caters to pretty much everybody in the area. Really one of the few options in the hood to catch whatever big game is on - tho thats usually when Id personally avoid going since it tends to get a bit crowded. I prefer to go during off-peak hours.

    Listen people…this place is a gem in the rough! The second I walked in the door I was greeted by the bartender (Colin) he rocks!. I was off to a great start. Alex moseyed on over and I was home.     Such a great place!!! Very friendly environment and caring servers. My friends got married, they got a congratulatory poster, and we got drinks on the house after we asked for the check! Wonderful atmosphere and excellent service, definitely coming back there. Got an appetizer platter was enough for 4 persons and tasty as well. 10 out of 10. Great experience, suggest it to everyone who wants to have a great time at the dive bar, and its also right behind the city hall!

    Its a good bar with good food and amazing shots. Youll certainly have a good time if you go there. The prices arent too bad either. Plus there are lots of TVs to watch sports or whatever and you can see them from wherever you sit which is nice. The bartenders and people working there are also nice. Also I can never remember the bar smelling like alcohol so thats good too. The only thing is the music can be loud but thats the only reason Im giving 4 stars. Would have given 4.5 stars if I could have. Pay in cash to save money.

    Absolutely the best time we had in New York. We randomly came upon the bar 4 years ago on our first visit to New York and had a great time. Plus the drinks are strong and affordable!Secondly, I just want to tell you a crazy story that happened and another reason I will always see these place as one of my top fav bars in NYC.I had an incident where someone took my jacket from the bar which included all of my belongings (wallet, keys, headphones). Immediately my server did all she could to help us look for it and took my info. From there, the owner reached out to me and went through the video footage to help me figure out what happened. I honestly was not expecting him to to go as far as he did to help me. Luckily, the person did bring in my items a couple of days later and they called me immediately. They made the process smooth and seemed as happy as I did.You can tell they have a lot of regulars because they were confident that someone would bring it back and they did! I will make it a mission to patronize this place and tell everyone about it.Like I mentioned the way they handled this situation is only the second reason.The Whiskey Tavern is just a vibe!!

    This is a classic bar. Nice bartenders that treat regulars super well and everyone else as well as you can expect. Good drink selection, good prices, and theres always a nice crowd here. Crowd reaches pretty packed levels on weekend evenings, and a little more quiet during non-peak bar times. They have some pretty great table games like connect 4, jenga, etc. Its a little towards the dive bar end of things, but in a good way.

    Went here for happy hour on a Friday, it was LOUD. The bartenders are very nice, one of them introduced himself to my friends and I which I thought was odd, but endearing. The Tavern Tea is dangerously sweet, would recommend. If youre looking for quiet and cozy, this isnt the place for you.

    Its a nice little corner bar in China town that I went to meet a few friends at. Didnt think too much of it from the outside but it really did end up being a very comfortable and fun bar. I had a bunch of different beers that came in different types of glasses, Im a noob to this international beer movement going on, so all I can say is that I felt it was pretty cool.     Great outdoor seating in the back. Friendly wait service. Prices are a little high even for happy hour. A pint of Guinness was $6 during happy hour =(They do have a deal. For $10, you get a pickle back and a beer.I prefer Whiskey Rebel by Baruch College. But I guess if youre in Chinatown and dont want to travel, this is the place for a drink.

    In my opinion The whiskey tavern is the most welcoming bar for tourists in new York that I have been to. It is clearly used by regulars and locals but these guys know how to make everyone feel welcome and have their own little ways of doing so.     Bacon fries. BACON fries. BACON FRIES. You can tell I like bacon and fries...but together...its an indulgence that Im not ashamed to have tried, loved and came back for. Theres plenty of alcohol, not just whiskey. Although dont ask them for a fancy coctail, I did and it wasnt great, bit then it was my fault...nothing fancy should ever be drank with bacon fries. If you dont drink, just go for bacon fries. They atmosphere is great, the place gets packed for organized parties, but its worth going to. The staff are amazing!

Whiskey Tavern is an awesome dive bar with great music, some table, and a lively crowd.Pickleback (shot of whiskey + shot of pickle juice) was $7/shot which for NY standards, I guess a good deal. Ive never chased anything with pickle juice before but it was very interesting, it cut the burning feeling real quick and youre left with a pickle taste.. which if you dont mind then this might be for you if you dont like taking shots.The bartender was friendly, and attentive, even for a full crowd.Start your night with this place, or end it. But our server and bartender duo Sarah and Sarah would have none of it and worked hard to get our spirits up! They gave us a game of Connect 4 to thrust us back into yester-year. And when my friend and I tied in the game, they celebrated with us and placed a, I kid you not, giant granite dick with a flaming sparker on the top along with pickle shots on the house! Overall a great time, even on a Saturday afternoon. Didnt have any of the food, but the daily specials looked like solid deals. The drinks were strong and the atmosphere was great, but its the amazing staff that really made the place one Ill come back to!

    Wow ! What can I begin to say about this bar! Its great. The service was out of this world. The food was great, bathrooms were clean and most importantly the staff and beers were ON POINT!! Had the pleasure of having Matt as our bartender and what a great dude. Super attentive, made conversation and was always making sure we were good. Tried the bowl o bacon, the barley soup, the bowl of pickles and the tater tots with cheese (amazing). AND PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, HAVE THE SPICY PICKLEBACKS!!! AMAZING. If youre in the area give this spot a chance !!!

    Everything about this is above amazing ‼️‼️ When I say the food & the energy from the staff is great . That’s just what I mean... I was traveling from out of town and found this place and happy I did the food was great and the staff gave off that home feeling like we knew each other for life.. we sat on the outside patio which was great..... such great place to eat

    Ive had one of my best experiences at this bar I came to New York I was only here for 4 days and I literally found this bar And Ive been there every day since Ive been here and I must say the energy a positive vibes the good people and the ringing of the bell Just makes my day thank you guys for showing me such a good time and the drinks were so strong and good I love a good buzz with positive energy and good people If you want to have a great time in New York I highly recommend this place whiskey tavern is a must see

    This is your local bar, in the heart of NYC. I come from a little town in Maine and after years the bartender at my local bar didnt know my name and order. After 1 visit to The Tavern, I moved the the City a month later and the bartenders REMEMBERED ME. After a whole August, bartending at a busy downtown bar, THEY REMEMBERED ME. Its like home. The staff is wonderful, the owner is EVERYBODYS friend, its the happiest place on earth.

    For being a tourist, and yet having a somewhat discerning taste in whiskey, I was amazed at both the service and the atmosphere. Our bartender was fantastic, and the atmosphere was jovial. If you find yourself in Chinatown, find this place as well.

    Really liked their hospitality and the cocktails! Welcome relief from the way Tinys & the bar upstairs treated us!Despite being packed, they seated us at a reserved table with the sole request that we let the table go 10 mins before the folks who reserved it got there. And we stuck to our word!The jalapeño poppers were nice, and the fried pickles were unique, though I cant say I took a fancy to them. They play loud music, and we were very close to the speakers, so I attribute my sore throat this morning to this place (in the nicest way possible)! :) You see, we were all meeting after a long time, and had catching up to do!Small place, young vibe, and welcoming!     Genuine New York drinking hole. There aren’t many in the area but this one is worth it for wings and football. Honest, friendly, fun; it can get rowdy but it’s a great place to watch the football or just have a quick beer. The staff are what make this a place worth stopping in.
