    Old stomping ground and decided to stop by quickly to grab a pickleback shot. My fave is the original but they also have a spicy option. It wasn’t that crowded since it was a bit early in the evening. This bar would be a great date night spot if you come before it gets busy.

    Great place to stop by for drinks. The bouncer was very nice and so were the bartenders. From time to time they will swing the belfries that are hanging from the top of the bar.Good music and great drinks. Try the pickleback shots! It was our first time, and we surprisingly enjoyed them!!

    Great place. The decor is super cute with the Christmas lights.. the chandeliers... everything.this place is purely to come drink with friends.. not many food options. The highlight of this place was pickleback shots... they are on the expensive side but they are delicious and you get diff options of both the pickle flavors and the type of shot. It was crowded on a Saturday night and we were like 8 of us or so. We were afraid that we won’t be seated for a while but they managed it quite quickly to get us a table.

    Nice vibe with not so loud music, and pickleback.My coworker set up an early new year party for us and he chose Belfry which brought me into the world of pickleback.I was not so sure I like it or I hate it. But to be fair, it tasted good. lolDrink was reasonable price, and decent quality. Pickle jar was a great deal keeping you sober during a heavy drink.

    Such a fun bar! You can make a reservation for happy hour which is great if you want to go out with a group. No food on the menu, but you can bring in outside food and theres plenty of options around.Happy hour deal of half price bottles of wine was great, tried my first pickle back shot here which was also a fun exprience.The after work ambiance was a lot of fun and busy but service kept up. Will definitely be returning!

    Sunday night live music was a nice surprise. Nice ambiance to catch up with a friend. Not too loud or crowded so could have a nice conversation.Ive also been for after work happy hour ($5 draft beer!) which has been a bit more crowded but still enjoyable.

    Best place for pickle back shots that won’t break the bank. The music is great but the bar can get pretty packed as it is very narrow. Good place to go for a pregame. There can be a wait on the weekends but the line moves quickly. I would also recommend trying their cocktails - very delicious .

    Checked this spot out last weekend. Decent happy hour prices for NY and great beer. No food but they let us bring in food from the nugget spot, which was awesome. Big on pickles with shots and all assortments of drinks. If your big on pickles this is the place to go. If not, then just come for the beer, music, and friendly atmosphere.

    One of my favorites in the area. Come here for pickelbacks, but they make great cocktails period, and have a decent selection on tap. Bartenders really know what theyre doing, and if you catch them at a non-busy time theyre super friendly as well. Biggest problem is that this place gets very crowded at peak times with a college-age crowd, so it becomes hard to enjoy the best parts of this place.

    I had the perfect pear cocktail and it was a delicious strong drink. Live music on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The music is blues/jazz and the vibe is perfect. Love the decor. Definitely my go to bar for a romantic night.

    I love this place! The only place I’ve found with a separate full pickleback menu! Lots of different brines and shot combos, all of them are so good. The pickle martini is also really nice too! Very cute space! The regular cocktails are also great!

    A very long bar with a nice, wooden interior. Definitely a step above your typical dive bar in the East Village area. Love their pickleback shots - wish theyre included on their happy hour menu! Happy hour is 5-7 and usually includes a selection of wines and beers.

    Thank you so much for being amazing. The drinks, decor, and employees here are of superb quality. From entering till exiting, feels like you’re taken in to a Midsummer Nights dream.     The Belfry is a fantastic bar to visit on a Friday or Saturday night (any night, really). Youll get the staple dim lighting and long wooden bar type vibe, friendly bar staff and a respectable amount of seating considering the total size of the place (small).Particularly, make sure you get the Pickleback shots. These are shots that come with a pickle juice chaser, and they are insane. Comes spicy or regular. Definitely a good time.

    Always meet awesome people at this bar. Great young crowd, great bartenders and good music. They have live music on Sunday, Monday, Wednesdays and trivia Tuesdays. Also, they dont serve food, but you are welcome to bring in your own.

    I had an awesome time, the staff was friendly and even when packed I never waited too long for a drink. Daily specials spice things nearly as much as their spiced pickle back cocktails. The decor is vintage and not cheesy, love the old hardwood dance floor. Did I forget to mention they support local NY craft beers, quite the selection on tap, and if your not fan of crafts you can always have a Pabst Boilermaker.

    Great atmosphere, but it can get very tight in this bar. Narrow and long shape, like a lot of NYC places. We had a good time, the only complaint would be that the drinks are a little pricey, even for Manhattan.

    The amazing decor outside this bar drew me in, and the friendly, helpful staff have already made me a regular. Staff says the interior changes seasonally, and right now the winter set is romantic and magical, with fairy lights, a disco ball and natural wood that feels like a forest canopy. I took a date here on a Saturday night and girlfriends on a Sunday afternoon, and the Belfry was perfect for both.

    Excellent drinks! Mixed drinks usually give me heartburn due to the excess sugars that most bars will use in the variety of syrups they use. This bar uses little to no b.s. in their drinks. I had most of them, and lo and behold, at the end of the night, I was not going bodega to bodega to find the best antacids. Ask for Antonio! He was awesome!

    We had a great time at The Belfry. We accidentally got there but didn’t regret at all. It’s busy all the time but the service compensates it by far. Very good drinks 🍸 and wide choice. Be surprised by the live music!

    I love coming to The Belfry. Great atmosphere, cocktail menu, and beer variety. They also make a variety of good pickle back shots. I strongly recommend you get pickle backs here, especially the Bentley!

    Good place to go for some casual fun, the staff is always spot on and friendly. There are a number of people here who recognize you from your first visit and they create a small town feel in the heart of the big city. I enjoy the cocktail selection and the picklebacks speak for themselves. The only down side is the college bro vibe the other patrons give the place, but hey the Belfry cant control the bros!

    Shot of well liquor and can of Tecate or PBR for $6 on weeknights and before 11 on weekends. $5 pickle backs always (sour or spicy!). Sometimes theres a DJ, sometimes live music, but always a great atmosphere. I even came here on Halloween during Hurricane Sandy when they were running on candles and bottled drinks, and they still had ice! Only complaint is that it gets really hard to move around on crowded nights due to the narrow area between the bar and the wall.

    Pickle-back? Are you serious? Pickle-back? Like take a shot and chase it with a pickle? Only after ordering did I discover that instead of chasing with a pickle, it would be with the pickle juice instead. As awful as that sounded to me, the pickle back surprisingly cleanses the palate and removes all hints of alcohol. $5 pickle-back deal all night long! The entrance can be difficult to find. There wasnt even any signage. Just the bouncer standing behind the glass doors.

    Live jazz on Monday’s and Wednesday’s!! I went on a Monday and the music was delightful. The drink I got, “perfect pear,” was also a great, sweet choice for me, as I don’t enjoy the taste of alcohol so much. Bartender was helpful when I asked questions about the drinks. But even on a Monday evening, the bar was quite full and I do usually see a big line forming outside on the weekends so be mindful of that.

    I’ve been on a pickle tour of New York City today and we stopped here for pickle back shots. This is undoubtably THE place in New York City to get pickle back shots.     Very adorable atmosphere! We sat at the bar and the bar staff was very attentive to our orders. It’s such a bummer this place is temporarily closed, as the lights insides were so cute and perfect for a date. The music was a little loud, but they had fun drinks like a pickle martini. Overall would definitely go back.

    The Belfry is a wonderful establishment for casual drinks near Union Square. Their long wooden bar with ample stool seating serves up a variety of cocktails, drafts and liquors. The vibe is slightly hip and bespoke without being pretentious or trendy. Its a bar that can equally work for a first date or happy hour with co-workers. The lightings dim enough without being too intimate and the volume is just right to hold steady conversation. The Belfry is a refreshing option to have on your radar if youre looking for a chill meeting spot centrally located in the East Village.

    Good place for drinking, really make you feel like you want to try new things. Went there on Thursday evening and the place was pretty packed, but it had good energy, and to try their shot with a shot of pickles is something you must try!The only problem was that it was way too hot there. they need to improve their cooling system before the summer.If you feel like drinking. You should try it.

    Great for: Friends, dates, stop along your weekend drinking adventures.Walking into the Belfry feels like a getaway. Medieval lanterns hanging over the bar, a fireplace, $5 beer & shot...right by Union Square! Known for their variety of picklebacks (shot of whiskey - or other spirit - followed by a shot of pickle juice), I personally like their beer list. If you dont want a drink at all, you can buy jars of pickled items and eat those instead!This bar can get packed on weekends, but my favorite time to go is weeknights when they have a nice live band and a great happy hour special. Its a very different atmosphere on weeknights.

    Chill bar with craft cocktails and a pickle themed drinks options. Nice atmosphere and decor, friendly service and reasonable prices. The pickled drink theme is different but done well and can be accompanied by a selection of similarly themed snacks like pickles, olives and beans. There was a small jazzy cover band playing on the night I attended (Saturday) which added to the atmosphere.

    The signature drinks are a treat and the drink menu is updated often the bartenders are friendly and will make you feel comfortable I visit after work after 11p in my uniform up the street to Joes Pizzeria the best pizza Mmmmm. My other favorite spot is 5 napkin burger on the corner ( this would be my dream , neighborhood to live) If anyone knows a way hit a sister up!!

    Ive been here a couple times and its not a bad place. It does get packed and the bar is a definite choke point so walking past or getting drinks can be a bit difficult at times. You really cant do much better than $5 for a pickleback or a shot and a can in this area. The crowd is decent and the bands that come in are pretty enjoyable as well. Its not a place Id spend an entire night but its definitely a good stop on your drunken journey.

    Great bartenders, Antonio and Tim, in particular. Kind bouncers. Laid back atmosphere with a healthy mix of fresh off the boat 21 year olds to early 30s. Solid and reasonably placed drinks with an equally solid playlist. I believe I can fly to early 2000s Sean Paul. Don’t like it? No problem, plenty of other bars nearby. Recommend for a pickle back whether it’s your first or 50th. Thanks gentleman.
