As a straight man with several gay family members and friends, I was made to feel very welcome at the Stonewall Inn.I felt it important whilst visiting New York to visit the pub and the square across the road. All in all, it is a very nice bar with an important historical place in society.

  • Review 2 (2024-08-05 - Rating: 5)

Of course, this is an iconic place to visit and a must for anyone visiting NYC internationally for the first time. The bar and wait staff were fantastic and super helpful, really chatty and fun and made us want to stay much longer than we had planned to! They let you get takeout pizza from nearby joints to have outside, and we had to leave with a T-shirt!

  • Review 3 (2024-08-31 - Rating: 5)

We were there in the afternoon and the atmosphere is still amazing. Thinking about the history of Pride and the LGBTQ+ movement, and the times they must’ve had in this bar. Goosebumps! The beer was excellent, the staff were very friendly, and the toilets were all-gender (always appreciated as I’m nonbinary). The atmosphere was wonderful and there were lots of historic photos on the walls too. And I bought a T-shirt and they had find in my size. Awesome.

This is a very important place, where half a century ago brave people changed the course of history. After Stonewall, the world is becoming a better place to live, although there is still much to be done. Freedom, equality, brotherhood, no hell or heaven, just us and our future

  • Review 6 (2024-12-05 - Rating: 5)

I came to nyc with my best friend. As a huge LGBTQ+ advocate, it was inevitable that I’d be at Stonewall and have some drinks. We were immediately greeted by Kristy… WOW! She’s amazing!!!! She was so nice!!! Her drinks are amazing… I wish all bar staff were as great as her!!!! I am definitely coming back every night while I’m in NYC! - Michael from Miami

Had a great time stopping in here for a beer with friends while on vacation and experience the historical and contemporary significance of the Stonewall Inn. Theres also a small park that is part of the Stonewall Inn National Monument across the street.

  • Review 8 (2024-01-12 - Rating: 5)

We are a family of four and we all agree that the highlight of our six day trip to New York was a visit to The Stonewall Inn. The staff were super friendly, the cocktails were fantastic and the atmosphere was amazing. Our boys had a fabulous time playing pool and we made friends with numerous lovely people sat at the bar. The appearance of popcorn with M&Ms was delightful. When we were leaving, the owner came up to us to say goodbye, giving each of us a huge hug. What a beautiful place. Thank you for a wonderful evening, we will remember it forever x 😘

  • Review 9 (2023-02-24 - Rating: 5)

Caring and inclusive bar. The vibes are immaculate. Chuck and the rest of the bar staff are wonderful and super accommodating. Had a wonderful time! No food menu besides popcorn but had a wonderful time regardless. Really enjoyed their Christopher Street drink. This historical landmark is a must-visit.

  • Review 10 (2022-08-10 - Rating: 5)

Lots of history and the bartenders were super cool. We stopped by mid-afternoon on Saturday and this was the perfect spot to cool off from the heatwave outside. They didnt have any beer on tap, but they had a pretty standard selection of cans and bottles, plus the Stonewall IPA from Brooklyn Brewery.

  • Review 11 (2023-04-02 - Rating: 5)

This is such a lovely bar! Let me start by saying that I was in awe of this historic bar! The atmosphere is cozy and the drinks atr well made! This is a little gay bar is a great piece of our history and you can feel it!

  • Review 12 (2022-03-15 - Rating: 5)

This place is absolutely fantastic, and of course dripping in history. It was an absolute pleasure to come here, and it was a highlight of our trip to New York. The staff here were super friendly and the drinks were inexpensive. I also found that the music was amazing and the place is brilliantly decorated. This in an absolute must-go place for any LGBTQ+ people who are interested in the history of LGBTQ+ rights in the US.

  • Review 13 (2024-08-12 - Rating: 5)

Great bar, Amazing music, whoever made that Sunday playlist has really good taste in music. Very generous bartenders 🤌🏽🫶🏽.

  • Review 14 (2022-06-25 - Rating: 5)

This is really an iconic place and I recommend everyone to visit twice. Come the first time as a tourist, understand the history, visit the US National Monument across the street. Go inside and think back to what it must have been like at that time. You wont need to use a lot of imagination, I am not sure its changed that much on the inside. Then visit a second time - come visit just like you would go out to any fun neighborhood gay bar, and enjoy the drinks, the handsome bartenders, and the fact this is a local institution for the community, and have a great time. Drinks are strong like many local places, various beers on tap, pool tables downstairs and drag queens upstairs... Its hard to ask for anything more.

  • Review 15 (2024-12-29 - Rating: 5)

Iconic for multiple reasons... ill leave it there. Check it out,, its a vibe like no other.

  • Review 16 (2023-06-01 - Rating: 5)

I can’t believe it took me over two years to get down here! I work too much. If you work too much too, and want a fun place to chill during what little downtime you have come down to Stonewall. The drinks and service are excellent and so is Kristy if you’re lucky enough to be here when she is. Best bartender ever! I think she just made me a regular 🙌💜

  • Review 17 (2024-01-06 - Rating: 4)

Always I have a good time at stonewall. Music is very good, the decor, drinks, the performance are super nice and its worth it to check it out.My only down is sometimes the bartenders give you some actitud with no reasons and just some times take so long just to realize that somebody is waiting for them at the service area.

  • Review 18 (2024-08-30 - Rating: 5)

This was a bucket list thing to do. I was tearing up at the visitor center which was right next door. I highly recommend to visit!!

  • Review 19 (2024-06-04 - Rating: 5)

We forget how much progress weve actually made all this time, Im amazed we have this iconic landmark still.I love this, and I love our community globally, taking time to celebrate Pride and what weve accomplished is so important.Enjoy the lesbian butterfly watercolor

  • Review 20 (2024-09-23 - Rating: 5)

Historic local bar with friendly staff, good music and a show space upstairs. This is where it all started and you have to get a drink there as a pilgrimage at least once. Read up about the Stonewall Riot and visit this place and the national park across the street.

  • Review 21 (2024-11-22 - Rating: 5)

Always a great hangout spot with good tunes playing over the speakers, pool, history, and in general good vibes!!

  • Review 22 (2024-09-24 - Rating: 5)

Loved the atmosphere and their drinks! My party had gotten a pinot grigio ($7 happy hour price), green tea shot, & appletini ($26 for the latter two). The prices are pretty standard and our bartender was very efficient. I’ll definitely be back again!

  • Review 23 (2022-10-28 - Rating: 4)

I guess it really is an iconic place, and it didn’t disappoint at all. The location is ideal, the place nicely decorated and feel very warm and friendly. The staff is kind and helpful and the drinks are good. I didn’t have to wait too long to be seated. Wish the place could offer some light food which would nicely go with the drinks. Prices are correct for the neighborhood and I actually expected to pay more than this, so I very positive surprise.I would recommend stopping by for one drink if you’re in the neighborhood.

  • Review 24 (2024-09-25 - Rating: 5)

Came here for a beer. It was nice to see how the decoration was preserved. Lovely ambiance and service. Good prices. Happy hour until 7pm

  • Review 30 (2024-07-09 - Rating: 4)

Went for the history, but cold beer and friendly bartenders made it a fantastic rest stop when touring the city. Not sure of their food items, but they do sell souvenirs, I had to get a T-shirt.

  • Review 31 (2024-07-10 - Rating: 5)

Iconic. Where it all began. The crowd is always friendly as if the bartenders. Anyone in the LGBT community should stop here for a drink.

  • Review 32 (2021-10-23 - Rating: 5)

The bartender opened alone, and totally rocked it. I loved being somewhere with so much history. I could feel spirit of queers passed. Never been more comfortable loving on my partner than here.

  • Review 33 (2024-02-25 - Rating: 5)

This iconic gay bar must be visited and the good news is that they have many events going on all of the time. They have an amazing karaoke or sing along with a live pianist, burlesque nights and many things going on upstairs to check it out. I especially like the bartender Chucky who makes excellent drinks and some of the best service in the city. Still very friendly still very exciting and still has very strong drinks highly recommend.

  • Review 34 (2023-05-07 - Rating: 5)

Extremely welcoming environment. The bartenders were friendly and the bar was very intimate and uplifting. Great NA beers too!

  • Review 35 (2023-02-16 - Rating: 5)

This is the mothership. Where fight for gay rights movement started. Behold the spirits of Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera. It was all there. So if you’re in town and part of the lgbtq+ community, you have a duty to go pay your respects…and have a gay cocktail ☝🏼🤣. I do everytime i’m in town. It actually feels like home. They have dragshows from Monday to Saturday starting at 8 or 9 PM. Sometimes surprise celebrity guest depending on the ocassion. (Still hurting about missing Madonna’s surprise appereance a couple of years ago and actually being in town and not going) Good stuff, they got some margarita specials you can check out, and a whole lotta love and gay cocktails💗🫡

  • Review 36 (2023-04-15 - Rating: 4)

Place is full of history and character, set in the historic Christopher St area. Was busy when we arrived but there was still plenty seats. A slightly younger crowd than I was expecting but everyone was having a fun Friday night out - Great measures for spirits! 🏳️‍🌈🇺🇸

  • Review 37 (2022-04-22 - Rating: 5)

Come here for the history but stay here for the warm atmosphere, friendly service and good drinks. I always have a great time whenever I visit The Stonewall Inn. It’s a perfect spot in west village to hang out with friends. They often have shows/events in upstair section. Overall a must visit whether you are a local or a visitor.

  • Review 38 (2024-06-05 - Rating: 5)

Took family to NYC to see sights last Sunday. Went to Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village to see ground zero for the LBGTQ+ movement. Very energetic atmosphere and sat on huge sidewalk and had drinks. Definetly a do again.

  • Review 39 (2023-01-11 - Rating: 5)

Very friendly, if you dont like packed bars just go during the week. It will still be enjoyable without having to deal with the crowds (like most of the bars in the neighborhood)

  • Review 40 (2019-02-04 - Rating: 5)

I finally was able to go to the place Ive always wanted to go being a transgender woman. Stonewall inn is like hallowed ground for me because The Stonewall riots were started by a transgender woman standing up for her rights. My bucket list on that has been completely checked. I strongly suggest anyone in the lgbtq go to the Inn. I am a transgender rights Advocate and activist.

  • Review 41 (2023-01-06 - Rating: 5)

A historic icon and so cozy inside. The bartender was so sweet. I enjoyed a local beer on tap for $8.

  • Review 42 (2023-08-05 - Rating: 5)

It’s such an inspirational place! Loved the vibe, the beautiful decor that takes you through the history of the place. We didn’t eat, so couldn’t rate it. It’s totally worth a visit!

  • Review 43 (2024-07-14 - Rating: 4)

A ‘must do’ for anyone who cares about the history of the gay movement. It is so much more these day, thanks to what happened here so long ago. The Visitor Centre next door is a ‘must do’ as well

  • Review 50 (2024-03-20 - Rating: 5)

First time at Stonewall was this last December 2023, and it was a blast! The legendary bar was hosting their weekly drag show with Hibiscus, and we arrived just in time to see her.The drinks were great, and she was on fire as she charmed the crowd and ate it up on the dance floor! I got to ask her what her favoriteplant was (snakeplant). The atmosphere was 10/10, the music was 10/10, and Hibiscus a 10/10- 10’s across the board.I highly suggest visiting at least once to see Hibiscus, or any of the other performers and bartenders, DJ’s, regular patrons there. It’s an epicenter of queer culture, and continues to stand to be.I will definitely be back!

  • Review 51 (2023-02-07 - Rating: 5)

My wife and I visited this historic location and enjoyed it a lot as a living museum. Staff was very understanding of us wandering around and gawking. Loved the photos of ordinary lgbt couples at the protests sixty years ago. Awesome that its still a functioning bar, although we dont drink. Really felt meaningful visiting here and the park across the street.

  • Review 52 (2023-05-08 - Rating: 4)

Good to visit to see a place of history. Nice welcoming staff and a good cocktail.

  • Review 53 (2019-10-29 - Rating: 4)

Stopped by The Stonewall Inn tonight a little early before the crowds. Kristy was awesome. She greeted us with a smile and took our drink order right away.I always love when I get to a popular place early, with time to make conversation about the venue. Kristy took the time to give me the history of the bar and the neighborhood - thank you so much. Its not very often that a NYC bartender makes such a personal connection.Mel soon joined Kristy for the evening crowd. Mel was just as attentive and made sure that we had our drinks filled.I really appreciate the personalized service that Kristy and Mel gave us. We left as it got pretty busy and they both took the time to say goodbye to us. We felt like part of the family. Thanks Sonewall Inn. It was a great experience, thanks to your staff. Im going to rate Stonewall with 5-stars, which was well earned.

  • Review 56 (2024-04-01 - Rating: 5)

Really cool to finally experience the Stonewall and it’s historical space. Staff was great. I love NYC and the gays.

  • Review 58 (2024-12-05 - Rating: 5)

Kristi is amazing… she makes the swampiest martinis and her smile lights up the room! So happy we stopped in and got to meet her and enjoy this super cozy too cute bar!! Very casual and homie!!

  • Review 59 (2022-07-24 - Rating: 4)

A solid but not superb choice for a night out in NYC. Drinks are reasonable and staff is usually nice. It can be eclectic crowd, and generally seems to draw tourists and students (sometimes straight). Music upstairs on the weekend often plays top 40. Actually prefer to go on weeknights with more locals and piano bar style upstairs.

  • Review 60 (2025-01-02 - Rating: 5)

An iconic spot which should not be missed for the history

  • Review 61 (2023-11-02 - Rating: 5)

Stonewall is an institution and it lives up to its name. One of the friendliest and most inclusive spaces and the bar staff there is amazing. Love a good Thursday happy hour with Mel and Kristy!

  • Review 62 (2024-12-14 - Rating: 5)

Talk to Tree, hes been there for all the action. Very knowledgeable 😊

  • Review 63 (2023-01-05 - Rating: 4)

Pretty with eclectic vibe. As a National Park passport holder, be advised they are scrupulously about under age passport stamps, so I guess leave your kids outside. 🤷‍♀️I don’t blame them, the liquor licence would be at stake, just wish one of the barkeeps had been more polite about saying it.

  • Review 64 (2024-01-13 - Rating: 5)

Nice place, they were friendly and served me and my friends quite fast. Recommended (for some reason in the states yoi need your passport to get into a bar?, they took my foreign ID with no problem)

  • Review 65 (2021-05-13 - Rating: 5)

Beautiful place. Piano bar upstairs was extremely entertaining, and the bartenders were the nicest people!

  • Review 66 (2024-09-14 - Rating: 5)

I have always had a fabulous time at Stonewall. The music is great, the drag shows upstairs are fantastic. Our bartender was Mel last time and she was great!! She was so friendly and quick to pour a drink even on a crowded night! Highly recommend!

  • Review 67 (2023-03-07 - Rating: 5)

We went early in the morning and it was super empty. The little park and the building; being a part of LGBTQ+ history were important and significant to see. There is some scaffolding at this time preventing one from observing this unobstructed. Still worth going to see.

  • Review 68 (2022-05-03 - Rating: 5)

LOVED IT. so full of history and so vibrant. Outdoor seating was great. Felt at home! We spent 4 hours here drinking in the sun and had such a great time. Highly recommend!!! Service was just ok but the experience was so great it didn’t bother us at all.

My favorite Gay bar in NYC. The bartenders are amazing. Especially the Thursday happy hour and night crew.

  • Review 76 (2024-09-04 - Rating: 5)

Kristy is amazing. My intention was to drop in for one drink but I stayed for nearly 3+ hours. As an LGBT+ identifying person, I have never felt so comfortable and welcomed at a bar. The BEST.

  • Review 77 (2019-09-06 - Rating: 5)

A great place to brighten up gray everyday life, have coffee and relax. Recommend. On weekdays, a lot of people) fun)💓There is a little trick to get a free cocktail and a separate room for 2 hours, you need to register on site 909gay,com 😍 and give the bartender a profile number.

  • Review 78 (2021-07-25 - Rating: 4)

Stars are mostly for the historical significance of the place. Nowadays, it may me a good bar to just chill and have a reaaaaally relaxed time, rather than enjoying and having fun.It could really use way more staff, bartenders look perpetually busy even when the bar isnt that much.

  • Review 79 (2011-10-20 - Rating: 4)

The bar that started the gay rights movement! I cant not love this place. Awesome to visit and the people are nice as well. Only downside is that the drinks are definitely pricey. Theres a first level and upstairs. Glad to have been part of the historic crowd when gay marriage for New York was passed!!!

  • Review 80 (2017-12-01 - Rating: 5)

A classic. The birthplace of Gay rights and a do not miss when in the west village. Great beer selection and a varying nighttime entertainment venue. Great for the day and even better at night! Gays and lesbians mix at one of the homes to LGBTQ culture. Pay your respects, play pool or celebrate diversity. It’s the place!

  • Review 81 (2023-10-10 - Rating: 5)

I love this place but the bartenders have nasty attitudes, especially the female one who rolls her eyes at people LOL. But usually this place has great music and great vibes.

  • Review 82 (2018-04-22 - Rating: 5)

First time into the Inn and what a wonderful time warp into history! Its a darkened room with a great atmosphere with reasonable priced drinks. I went up to the room upstairs to watch my friend perform his music and comedy and paid $5 which was fine.. but the barman upstairs came up to me and my friend and said its a minmum of two drinks upstairs? I didnt buy another 2 drinks but thought that was pretty stupid.

  • Review 83 (2019-02-26 - Rating: 5)

If you are looking for the Stonewall National Monument NPS stamp, just ask the bartender. This historic gay bar was the site of a famous series of riots in 1969. For this reason, it is considered one of the most important places in LGBT history. The bar itself is dark and feels historic. I really enjoyed chatting with the bartender. All in all a wonderful experience.

  • Review 84 (2013-10-12 - Rating: 4)

This is the historic gay bar where it all started. It has a great atmosphere and is welcoming to all people, gays and straights alike. I regularly attend on Monday nights which are, apparently, drag queen bingo nights. I get read (gay speak) every single time I walk through the door by the queen mother, but its all in fun, and its hilarious. Love the place and the prices are great.-blasianFMA

This is a unique bar in NYC that if you’re part of the LGBTQ community you must make a visit to ( of course everyone is welcome ).Just said if you’re part of the LGBTQ community because of its history of our community that this bar have.It was where out community started coming together and fighting for our rights and it was where we could have a little of getting together with members of our community when it was “forbidden” to be ourselves. It seems crazy that this times existed in the past.Just love this place

I walked in and felt a wave of relief wash over me. It was such a warm environment, felt like home. Our server was friendly. Even outside of the history, it was a great bar to spend a few hours in.

  • Review 95 (2022-02-27 - Rating: 4)

What a bittersweet moment it was to be able to stand in and comfortably imbibe beverage in an institution where it all started. Their fight and sacrifice isnt in vain. Thank you for preserving this piece of history.

I cant help but feel humbled when entering this building. Just knowing the past and seeing the different notices around made me appreciate the world for what its become (since the old days at least).Fantastic drag show by Logan Hardcore, we were extremely entertained and impressed by his abilities! The spot has awesome staff, and Lola was an amazing server and performer. Always attentive, friendly, and genuine. The site has lots of space and two floors with separate themes, so theres always some variety going on. An absolute pleasure to visit and a must-see for any LGBT tourists in New York.

Stonewall is one of those places you need to check off of your list when youre in the area, and if its a part of your history. I love sneaking away to the little upstairs area that the bar has for a little more quiet time (quiet as a bar can really be, and when the party downstairs isnt big enough to spill upwards). So much history within these walls - and so many drunk gay people to vibe with. Not a bad time in the least.

  • Review 100 (2019-03-03 - Rating: 5)

What a wonderful bar, and of course where gay pride started. The barmen are friendly and service is great and wonderful drinks. Highly recommended. Also there is a wonderful park out the front dedicated to pride.

  • Review 101 (2016-01-20 - Rating: 5)

Love this place simply because its stuck in a time warp of 1969 when the Stonewall riots began the gay revolution here. If youre looking for a classy place then this isnt for you. This isnt your typical bar as its no frills as you get. People come here with friends and just for the history of it all.

  • Review 102 (2024-03-11 - Rating: 5)

Looved the atmosphere!! Got to watch the Oscars while on visit in NYC. It was one of my favourite experiences in the city 🖤

Aside from its rich and important history, The Stonewall Inn is a lot of fun. The staff is friendly and down-to-earth and everyone feels welcome. You cant beat their drink prices, especially in New York City. Everything about this place is great.

  • Review 104 (2023-05-23 - Rating: 5)

Such a great and memorable place! Good for drinks with friends after work. Love celebrating pride here too

  • Review 105 (2018-04-29 - Rating: 5)

Now 70 years old, I danced the Stonewall and was there for many raids leading up to the riot. I remember how brutal and intimidating the cops were. We had no refrigeration - no beer. No running water just an ice water bath at the bars, plastic cups. The booze was stored in the bartenders cars/trunks......also hidden behind the stone wall in the disco room. We had two chrome kitchen tables, one in each room with a few kitchen chairs scattered about. NYC liquor board would not give a license to a gay bar, hence the bar was raided cops looking for their payoffs! The smaller slow dance room is now the bar!! The disco bar was through the stonewall into the store next door!!

As a Gay man traveling to New York in June, I felt it was my obligation to take a pilgrimage to Stone Wall Inn. They have some fun bag/shirts and other merchandise for purchase. They also have news articles on the wall that highlight the riots. Otherwise, its just a chill, old-school drinking hole.

Good drinks and service is good. Upstairs is great.

  • Review 123 (2022-10-23 - Rating: 4)

Visited the historic bar during my recent trip to NYC. It was late afternoon so rather quieter. Only one lager on draught and it was pricey enough. Rather dark and looks more like a dive bar. The bar staff were having a whale of a time with their playlist of No Doubt. I think most come because of the significance of the place in the fight for equality and its worth it just for that.

  • Review 124 (2018-09-15 - Rating: 5)

A must visit institution for any lgbtqa person. Divey gay bar with 2 floors and lots of history. Top floor hosts drag shows during the weekends. Definitely more tourists here than locals.

  • Review 125 (2016-07-10 - Rating: 5)

Wonderful atmosphere and wonderful people. Despite the police with machine guns outside. Yikes. This was just after Orlando, so it was to be expected. Its also quite historic!

  • Review 126 (2021-08-24 - Rating: 4)

Love this place. Great music, nice bartenders. The only issue is that they didn’t announce the drag show. Other than that, a good experience.

First time here in a long time, and I have to say Christie is *smashing* it!! She’s the only one behind the bar, and you’d never know it! Definitely will be back to see her again soon.

  • Review 128 (2021-03-27 - Rating: 5)

The place paved the way for my generation and many generations to come.It brings back amazing memories. One of the things Stonewall still has going for it, “I’m told from Rick the owner of sip&snip one of the best places in NewYork to get your hair done. “ if you can get an appointment “Is that Tree is still working there. The guy is a legend in himself and Stonewall is very lucky to have him.I wouldn’t recognize the place without him.If I had to give him and Stonewall a score,He and it would get nine circles. LolHope your well Tree.Danny Arzon

Came by Stonewall to celebrate the 4th with friends, and could not have had a lovelier afternoon. Bar was bustling and busy, one woman behind the bar doing it all—bartending, serving tables, and bussing—and she was on fire! I dont know how she manages to do it all, but she is so kind, professional, and lovely, and gave everyone an experience to remember!

  • Review 143 (2019-06-08 - Rating: 5)

The Stonewall Inn continues to be a landmark for civil rights for the LGBT community and for everyone. It is now a powerful symbol for PEACE and positive change, as people from all communities come together promoting LOVE and PEACE to help everyone heal from the tragedy in Orlando that took too many of our loved ones. I give this place 5 stars for reminding us that LOVE HEALS!!!
