Jazz club dating back to 1949!Even though it was open mic night with no scheduled performance, we enjoyed the impromptu performances!Had cocktails and glasses of wine with Birdland Sliders and a flavorful pasta dish. Good to note that, besides being a premier jazz club, they pay attention to the quality of food & beverages -

If you want the jazz club experience this is it. Sound quality is beautiful. I love the ability to easily order food and drinks during it also! Food was just ok, not the best - but then again, you’re not going here for the food. I will note the dishes and drinks are a bit pricey. -

Had a wonderful evening here celebrating my birthday. I love how the venue added to the day and made it more special. The food was fantastic and the cocktails just as good. Service was amazing too. All around worth the hype. -

I went here during the Christmas holidays and it was so good to enjoy the atmosphere with family. Our seats were bar seat but it was also good to see the stage. You need to order drinks/foods at least $20 per person. -

I would break this down in to two reviews if I good. First the good! The venue, ambience and most importantly the entertainment is fantastic and worth every penny. We had a great table and it pays to get there early in order to get a good one. The food was not so good.. The pork belly was really nice to start, but the southern fried chicken was very bland and had no seasoning (there was plenty of it tho!) and the gumbo had very little seafood. 100% worth going, just plan to eat before you go 😉 -

By far my favorite jazz club I’ve ever been to. So many incredible performers! With an atmosphere that really lets the performers thrive.Staff was friendly and knew when to serve and when to let the patrons enjoy the music. -

This was my first time attending Birdland Jazz Club “Table Seating” for my husband birthday, and they were ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! I made a little request for a dessert for his birthday and Birdland Jazz Club Staff did exactly what was expected and went above and beyond! Made the evening P E R F E C T! Thanks Again I recommend -

More theater than jazz club, and a really good time. We saw a big band show and it was a lot of fun. -

We had a really great time there! Went there to celebrate my birthday and it was awesome. Really nice food and amazing jazz band playing that night. Great experience in NYC!!! -
Review 12 (2024-10-11 - Rating: 4)
Iconic club with some of the best jazz performances youll ever have the privilege of hearing. Tables and reasonably priced bar seats. The bar isnt the most comfortable and not a great view, if thats what you want. The bar tenders and the most professional and nicest i have ever encountered. You dont come for the food when theres so many great restaurants in NYC. $22 food & drink minimum. -

So lucky to sit in front of this band. Wow what an amazing brass team! The piano player was a famous person and his play was so beautiful. Food was exceptional. Had a great evening. -

Been here for Christmas Eve show, the show was great but the food just average. Better eat somewhere else before coming here and order just drinks. -

Loved this jazz club!! The atmosphere and music was amazing and we had Sophia as our waiter and it she was so attentive and kind and just amazing vibes all around! As for food here are thoughts:Cauliflower appetizer is a must. Super unique, tasted like barbeque Fritos but in a fancy wayThe spaghetti with fancy cheese meal (pictured) was actually amazing, the cheese part was so creamy and a super large portion, I couldn’t finish it which is saying somethingVeggie and noodles were yummy, good light optionTirimisu was more whipped, very light, not cakey and couldn’t taste the rum as much, but if u are good w that then def go for it it was yummyone note I’ll say is it was a bit loud, I recommend bringing something if ur noise sensitive! -

202404 The Lineup is surprisingly fabulous! Susie is a wonderful host with much fun and good conversation, and the performers are all gems! Time just flew in the wondrous journey. No time to go to the restroom!I claim to be a jazz lover but didn’t really make full use of my time here in NYC. It’s such a serendipity that the jazz club is just across the street during my short stay.It is possible to walk-in if the show isn’t too popular.—/ food is decent too.Risotto cake sounds very interesting (usually from leftover I know). Smells so nice! Though I’d prefer it to be a bit crispier, it has a subtle crust so hopefully not too oily. The rice is bouncy and chewy and tastes good with mushrooms. My only quip would be the food came too fast:3 I went in early to snatch a good spot and ordered food immediately. So for the whole hour before the performances, I had to eat while everyone else came in and waited for their friends and starved and stared at my food lol. A little awkward before the light turns dimmer, but I am hungry. The bill for walk in tables include the ticket price so the tip was floated higher. I was in a rush to catch the performers so I didn’t have time to change the number— it will be about $5 higher than if you buy online with the booking fee so not a big deal anyways. -

First jazz show ever: chose this place for the more intimate ambiance of the theatre and stumbled by chance on Bud Powell’s 100th anniversary.Food and drinks were delightful, servers were attentive and the band was simply amazing!Ambiance is everything you’d expect and simply unique. -

So, first of, we are from Canada, and its our first time visiting NYC for fun and wanted to experience top NYC cliché activities, so, of course we wanted to visit a Jazz club. The Birdland was an incredible experience! The atmosphere, the service, the show, the drinks, everything was as or better than expected! Totally recommended! The musicians are great! The trio were great (piano, bass, and drums). Thank you very much for the amazing experience! -

Exceptional place: amazing Jazz performance, great food and super attentive staff. Gianni the general manager is a super sweet and incredible person. We had burrata, rigatoni with meatballs, vegan burger and mac&Cheese and everything was delicious. Drinks also super well done! It’s a very exclusive place, you really feel the NYC vibes and it’s amazing! Highly Recommended!! -

We brought tickets for our family and us to attend a show this Christmas and we what a treat! The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra was amazing. Hope to hear them again in the future! Food was served quickly, yet it was delicious. The food definitely exceeded our expectations! Staff was friendly despite how busy they were and respectful of the show going on. I am already thinking about the next show we will book! -
Review 23 (2024-02-06 - Rating: 5)
With more than 50 years in business (at least by name), Birdland is a classic jazz den in the citys theater district. I came to see Stacey Kent amd enjoyed delicious cocktails and good music. As usual at jazz clubs, the crowds are middle-aged in average. The club has a minimum drink policy in place, and would usually hold 2 or 3 shows per night. Will definitely visit again. -
Review 24 (2025-01-01 - Rating: 4)
Great world famous venue. Cosy, intimate and quality entertainment. When i asked for my dessert to go in a take away box i was surprised they couldn’t just fit it into the fridge for me as there was another 1hr left for it to warm and curdle on the table. -
Review 25 (2024-08-12 - Rating: 5)
My nephew and I saw a great show here a few weeks ago. We were pleased to have a great seat up front. Service was efficient and professional. We were hungry and needed a nibble with drinks. The food was fair to good, it held us over. ... but youre not going for the food, right? Drinks came out cold and tasty. A very pleasant night. -
Review 26 (2024-11-03 - Rating: 5)
We had an amazing time, it is an exceptional experience. If you seek quality entertainment, no need to look further, book your table! 🎶 -
Review 27 (2024-12-04 - Rating: 4)
Saw the BBB on a Friday night. A very enjoyable 1.5 hours of jazz playing all their own music. Drinks were tasty. Didn’t have any food. Would have liked a few more well known classic songs -
Review 28 (2024-10-08 - Rating: 5)
Go for the vibes and the jazz. Very cool spot. Need places like these to be open forever. Great date spot or just hanging with a friend. Plenty of space and plenty of good seats to see the band.I would definitely appreciate a vegan entree that wasn’t impossible burger. Or at least having a vegan salad option. But I’m there mostly for the jazz! -
Review 29 (2024-06-09 - Rating: 5)
Best place for enjoying jazz and drinks. Players were excellent as well as all staffs and servers. They were very kind. Look forward to visit again someday. -
Review 30 (2024-10-04 - Rating: 5)
Nice underground space with good jazz. Sat at the bar, $20 item minimum easily met with two draft IPAs. Clean bathroom and easy to get in and out. -
Review 31 (2024-02-19 - Rating: 5)
Wow!! This place knows how to put on a jazz performance! I had the lovely opportunity to hear the Catherine Russel Band and they were amazing. Such a special and intimate night at this lovely establishment. Cannot wait to return! -
Review 32 (2024-10-22 - Rating: 5)
They were so amazing! They saved our table because we were running out from a Broadway show that went a little bit too long, the music was incredible. The atmosphere so good we cant wait to come back to New York and check this place out again with the kids! -
Review 33 (2024-12-16 - Rating: 4)
The jazz show was amazing, with a very attentive audience. The atmosphere inside the jazz club was cozy and had its charm. However, I didnt like the rule of having to order $20 worth per table, even though I had already paid for the performance. I followed the rule, but there wasn’t much variety in the drink or food options anyway. -
Review 34 (2023-04-24 - Rating: 5)
Fantastic. Iconic. Memorable. If you are a fan of jazz, then Birdland is a must-stop when in NYC. They recommended buying tickets online, but I took a chance to buy my ticket at the door. It was not a problem, and I saved myself the $5.00 online convenience fee: $ 30.00 entry and a $20.00 food and beverage minimum. I went to the 5:30 show of the SUNY Purchase Latin Jazz Orchestra. How must it feel to be a college student and perform on such an iconic stage, a place where legends have performed? Pretty heady stuff. They were fantastic. I did have dinner, a green side salad, and the Cajun Jambalaya. It was okay, nothing terribly exciting, but then I did not go for the food; I went for the history and the 🎶 music. -
Review 35 (2024-06-29 - Rating: 4)
Performance was a delight, Service fantastic. The food was ok. Its hard when you are in the big apple with so much to choose from. Delightful evening out for great jazz. Was in the theater. Upstairs better choice for atmosphere!! -
Review 36 (2024-11-06 - Rating: 5)
A fab night out enjoyed by all. Both my teenage kids loved it, and I felt like we were transfered back in time, minus the smokey atmosphere (thank goodness.) We saw the afro Latin jazz orchestra, who were excellent. Food was decent, no complaints, service was very good. -

Review 38 (2024-10-22 - Rating: 5)
What a find! So glad we looked for Jazz clubs and came across this historic place just off Times Square. Not only was it an incredible musical experience, but the food and service was right up there as well. And it turns out that the cheap seats were some of the best seats in the house. We bought partial view seats for the Monday night Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks. I just wanted to hear live music, and didn’t really care if we had a great view. Well, Vince Giordano was on bass about 3-4 feet away from our table, and we got to see him up close and personal. He tore that bass to shreds. Not to mention killed it on vocals, MC, Tuba, guitar…amazing. -
Review 39 (2024-10-13 - Rating: 5)
This place needs to be on every jazz lover’s bucket list. I saw the one and only Ron Carter quartet. Tickets are cheap but do not ensure you a good seat as seating is first come first serve. There is a $20 min/person on food and drink in addition to ticket price. -
Review 40 (2024-05-14 - Rating: 5)
Special place offering a variety of musical performances daily, sometimes twice in a day. From solo artists to big bands. Nice drinks and food too. Trully enjoyable experience, we already booked another night! -
Review 41 (2024-05-13 - Rating: 5)
I was not gonna say anything, but what happened to me there last Thursday made me write the review. although I tried to just forget about it it’s still in my mind and can’t forget. It was my first time there, me and my friend had the tickets at the bar. I chose the seat and Bartender asked me to move to the very end of the bar right next to the kitchen and the toilet which was not comfortable especially if you want to enjoy the music and at the same time you hear all the servers conversations all the kitchen sounds, restroom door opens and closes, so I had a little disgusted face. The bartender we had took the drink order just from my friend, he didn’t even asked me about drinks, he left and took other customers orders. Total ignorance. Just after when my friend asked him for a drink for me he said maybe it’s better for me to eat first. Okay! I really tried to get it as a funny joke, I’ve been trying this since that day but it gets really insulting day by day. I also work in the customer service, I also like making some jokes with my customers but there is a difference between being funny and being just rude! The place itself was really good, I appreciate their work in the music industry so I gave it 5 stars but the bartender i had needs to watch his sense of humor while working. -
Review 42 (2024-03-04 - Rating: 4)
Brought my mom here to celebrate her birthday. We truly enjoyed every second of the music here but unfortunately the food was absolutely awful. We sent back the “gumbo” (tasted more like chicken tortilla soup) just to get the driest burger we’ve ever had. I ordered a salmon Caesar salad and surprise surprise, also dry & overcooked with hardly any dressing. The drinks we ordered were delicious aside from the very sour Birdland margarita (pictured) but our server was nice & attentive. Highly recommend going for just music and drinks. Don’t order any food from here unless you want to be disappointed or simply don’t like flavor. -
Review 43 (2025-01-05 - Rating: 5)
Great intimate setting! The quintet we listened to was amazing. Great acoustics too. -
Review 44 (2024-09-18 - Rating: 5)
The 5 stars is for the jazz. The show is about 15-20 min shorter than I thought. Dinner was good; portions are big, the roast chicken entree was a little dry, but it was filling. This is one of those touristy spots that you cant miss; its right and really not just for the tourists. -
Review 45 (2023-07-04 - Rating: 5)
Boyfriend took me to see one of his favorite pastime things. (Jazz) and so we went, go kinda early before the scheduled time bc there will be a line and yes it will affect your seating. We were seated at the stools and I like it. Food is amazing, there’s a 20.00 minimum per person, so get some food (it’s pretty good) their panna cotta was the most memorable to me. It was so good. Definitely a good spot for a date, good music and food although you do need to be kinda quiet when the musicians play but ofc you can still whisper quietly and less frequently. -
Review 46 (2024-12-27 - Rating: 5)
If you need to have a drink, in a jazz bar, in NY, this is the place. -
Review 47 (2023-07-13 - Rating: 4)
Amazing jazz club with an intimate atmosphere and great service. Came here to watch Ravi Coltrane quartet and had a nice time. Food was subpar and expensive but the show, sound system and service made up for it. -
Review 48 (2023-06-11 - Rating: 5)
Such a cool Jazz club. My girlfriend and I were walking home late one night when we decided to pop in and check it out. The service was great and the band was excellent. We didn’t expect much from the food since it was a music venue but it was surprisingly good. We both enjoyed the pizza and peach cobbler. -
Review 49 (2024-12-16 - Rating: 5)
Everything was so amazing. The food and service were excellent. Music was magic! I love the Clubs vibe. One of the best memories in New York. -

Birdland Jazz Club NYCBirdland Jazz Club is an absolute gem! The ambiance was fantastic, the space was clean, and the food—especially the fish—was simply delicious. The highlight of our evening, however, was the incredible hostess, Ella. After being told that the club doesn’t typically do birthday shoutouts, Ella went above and beyond to make our night unforgettable. She quietly surprised our 17 year old guest, who had chosen Birdland to celebrate her birthday, with the most creative and delightful birthday dessert dishes. It was such a thoughtful and special touch that truly made the evening magical.Thank you, Ella, for your kindness and attention to detail—you are simply the best! Birdland Jazz Club, with its amazing food, atmosphere, and exceptional service, is a place we’ll definitely be visiting again. Highly recommend! -
Review 51 (2023-09-05 - Rating: 4)
Great place to enjoy entertainment we went on open mic night, which felt like more talking with artists advertising their relevant shows and upcoming appearances. But overall a lovely evening. My wife had a bottle of Prosecco $55 and I had bottle of Corona all night, my wife did order a warm goats cheese salad, that was very under par and certainly wasn’t worth $21 -
Review 52 (2023-01-21 - Rating: 5)
Had an amazing experience at this jazz bar! The bartender was so sweet and I loved the vibes of this jazz bar. Great performances too!! We didn’t eat that much since we ate dinner before the show although the spinach & artichoke dip was pretty standard; nothing to complain about. Definitely visiting for the vibes and music more than the food. A great date spot, the workers also seem to be very into the music which is nice as well! Will definitely be coming back!!! 🥰🥰💗💗💗 -
Review 53 (2023-01-09 - Rating: 5)
The theater is located down a set of stairs. You check in at the top and there is complimentary coat check in at the bottom before they seat you. We did bar seating which is in the back and can be a little loud during the show. There is a pilar in the middle of the room which blocks some of the view depending where exactly you sit. $20 min purchase per person. We did a mix of food and drink. The burger was good and the salmon salad okay (too much salad dressing for my taste and salmon doesnt need to be smothered in that much BBQ). Both were well cooked and portion size was larger so I felt the price was acceptable. For dinner/drinks and a show, this is a great night out in NYC. The trio we saw is nominated for a Grammy this year! -
Review 54 (2024-01-23 - Rating: 4)
Great Atmosphere - cool lighting and sound! Food was sub-par - its what you would expect from a super wide menu and a $20 minimum. Good service though. Overall, a really cool jazz club with some cool history. -
Review 55 (2024-12-16 - Rating: 5)
Best jazz bar ever! servers are great as well. -
Review 56 (2024-10-05 - Rating: 5)
Went to see Ashley Pezzotti with my 13y old daughter. What an amazing concert! We both loved it. Shes a spectacular singer and just a wonderful human being. Funny, treats her band well ... Birdland is always a classy venue. -
Review 57 (2022-03-16 - Rating: 5)
Amazing!! I saw this place on Instagram and I thought it would be a cool date night event for my girlfriend and I. This would be our first dinner and show date. They’ve exceeded my expectations with stellar service, hospitality, professionalism, and food quality. Everyone was so helpful and the food was well worth your money. Definitely planning my next visit soon! -
Review 58 (2024-01-26 - Rating: 5)
Ms. Dee Dee Bridgewater was an entire mood. Her sultry voice, quick wit, and sassy were the perfect compliment to the smooth sounds of her phenomenal all women band. Food was served hot. They have vegan options, with vegan cheese. -
Review 59 (2023-10-07 - Rating: 4)
We had a good experience at Birdland, watching Ron Carter’s gold striker trio. The performance was good albeit a little bit short in duration. The food was great and so was the service. Arrive early so you get good seats close to the performers - we came at around 19:55 (doors opened at 19:30) and we did not get good seats. -
Review 60 (2024-10-15 - Rating: 5)
We heard a FANTASTIC performance by Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks. I’d been wanting to see them perform live for years and we were happy to get the chance at Birdland, the iconic Manhattan jazz club that opened in 1949. Wonderful intimate venue, with excellent food and drinks, and friendly, efficient service. Our table, at the back row, was probably only 30 ft from the stage! Vince is bubbling with enthusiasm! He and the group perform 1920s jazz with such joy and energy, that we are already looking forward to the next time we can see them in person. -
Review 61 (2024-07-16 - Rating: 5)
Loved being here, you get tickets for the show with a $22 dollar minimum fee for food and drinks. Stayed at the bar, had great conversations with the bartenders, the jazz show was exquisite. The ambience lovely. Definitely recommend for a solo or couple date :) -
Review 62 (2023-02-27 - Rating: 5)
The ambiance was great, the band was amazing. I enjoyed what I ordered but some dishes are hit or miss depending on how u feel about texture. Also the crusted salmon wasnt bad, but they use mustard seeds to crust the salmon and it gives the salmon a tangy bitterness because of the mustard seeds. Otherwise food was good, drinks were good, and the band was even better. Would definitely come back! -
Review 63 (2024-09-14 - Rating: 5)
Very good atmosphere. The pizza was not good and I would not recommend having it. Rather take something else; the food is not the highlight of the place anyhow. The band we were listening to was super great and time flew. -
Review 64 (2022-11-26 - Rating: 5)
Amazing time here!! The show was great! We saw Wendy Moten. She was outstanding! Everything was great... the service, the food, drinks and seating. There really isnt a bad seat in the house. Ill definitely be back for shows here. -
Review 65 (2024-04-08 - Rating: 5)
Dont miss this place if you visit NYC. Excellent set by the big band. Best thing though was our server Brian. Lots of recommendations from him, from drinks to restaurants and bars to visit. -
Review 66 (2022-08-29 - Rating: 5)
Two Elements Here. #1 The Music and the show here were excellent. The Gil Evans Project was phenomenal, entertaining, and just flat our an amazing time. We could not have asked for a better jazz experience, and highly recommend. #2: The food and drinks were okay at best. We came with the mindset of having a full dinner here. While the food was fine, it was a bit underwhelming, especially for NYC. If you can, I would recommend doing a full dinner elsewhere, and then coming here and enjoying something small, if anything. The drink menu was okay, and the cocktails looked pretty solid. We did a bottle of wine, and honestly it was not great (which is partially on us) but the selection of red was pretty limited. We had an amazing time, but would just change up our approach with doing dinner first, and then coming for the show and light drinks. -
Review 67 (2024-10-27 - Rating: 5)
Everything I order is deliciousThe performance was good, too. Im thinking about going there next time I come to the band. I arrived at 4:30 and went straight in, but I didnt get such a good seat because there were people waiting for me. If you two go together, I think we can get a good seat :) -
Review 68 (2021-08-21 - Rating: 4)
Intimate and cozy jazz club right off Times Square. Great sound systems for the performances. Spacious bar area with good selection of beverages and food options. All tables and seats have good views of the stage. Many nostalgic photos of past stars and acts adorn the walls. A pleasant Gift shop. Their quiet policy during performances is enforced. -
Review 69 (2019-09-16 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely amazing. Food? Amazing! Drinks? Amazing! Customer service? Amazing! We were in the lower level having an outstanding time with Troy Roberts, but if you get the chance to visit upstairs I highly recommend you do.Everything here is top notch, the decor is simply elegant but doesnt distract from the real reason for coming: the great live jazz! The bar offers more than youd think in a smaller sized venue, and the food was dynamite! You have to take the stairs because theres no elevator or escalator, so be aware, but they are carpeted and clean. If we are ever in New York again well definitely be hitting up The Birdland Jazz Club again! -

Review 71 (2017-11-04 - Rating: 5)
Spent my 50th Birthday meal here. This place is legendary, and didnt disappoint. Scheduled act couldnt make it, but replacement, Victoria Swift was awesome. Victoria, you really made my birthday. There is a minimum charge per guest to cover music. We had a table right by the stage. Intended to eat somewhere else, and just book here for the later sitting for music and drinks. The greeter said there was space now, and as the food prices werent too high, we decided to eat here instead.Food was great, the table in a great place, and the act sensational. After the first set was complete, you have the option of staying for the second set. There is a further minimum spend of $10 per head, but a couple of drinks covers this as you have already paid for the show. This goes down as one of my best birthdays ever. Good job Birdland for giving me such a great memory. -
Review 72 (2024-06-18 - Rating: 5)
I went to Birdlands several months ago for the Afro Latin jazz and I was so impressed. They handled our seating with such professionalism to ensure folks from previous show would vacate seats in preparation for the next show. We sat at the bar and the bartenders, Brian and I cannot remember the other gentleman, were incredible. Their food recommendations were spot on but they went above and beyond.I suddenly did not feel well and was hot and they pulled out a fan to set in front of me so that Id be more comfortable. They truly went the extra mile and the show, was also amazing.Whenever I visit NYC again, I would love to come back here. -

Review 79 (2022-04-12 - Rating: 4)
There were no bad seats in the house. Saw Ravi Coltrane Quartet and they were fantastic. Lighting was on point.Only complaint is the requirement for $20 spent per seat. We came from dinner to the show so we weren’t hungry, we did order wine but it was a stretch to get our entire table to order $20 worth of food or drink from the menu. -

An amazing jazz club, it does live up to the legend. Its been multiple time we went there, it is always a treat and what a spectacle. All the artists are over the top, it is really more than just a show.Afterward, the drink served are also great and well done by the bartender. The food it just OK, nothing amazing, you wont come back for that but at least it does the job and it is not overly priced considering the location.Amazing guys, keep up ! -

This small club is a wonderful successor to the original Birdland. It’s small but not claustrophobic, with a great staff servicing delicious food and drink. Go on Mondays to see the incomparable Vince Giordano and his band. -

Food: Good food and drinks. I ordered something with meatballs and it tasted good. Make sure you come at least 30 minutes early so you can at least get your food before the performance.Service: Super kind and attentive staff. The coat check was also convenient and operated by really kind staff.Atmosphere: A great space with a clear view of the stage from many tables and good acoustics. It’s a good size with a really good mood from the space. Also really great layout.Okay, now the actual performance. We watched the Chad LB Quartet, which was a fun engaging group playing a variety of different songs really well. Occasionally a description of the song they were going to play and interactions with the audience. -

Great place to experience live jazz music. Refer to website to check on artist line-up. Important to note, even though youve bought tickets for the show, there is still a $20 (per pax) minimum food/ beverages spending. But food was quite good. Make sure to ask for dessert menu. -

Review 89 (2024-12-29 - Rating: 4)
It was my first night in NYC and I thought it was a night well spent having dinner and listening to jazz music at this restaurant. The restaurant was fully-booked tonight and everyone appeared to have enjoyed their time especially listening to the music. The food was average in my opinion, however, the entire experience was excellent. I came for the music anyways and not for the food. I highly recommend this place especially to a fan and/or student of Jazz music. This is kid-friendly establishment by the way and I have seen families with small children in the audience who appeared to have enjoyed the music as well. -

Ever since I heard Manhattan Transfer in the 80s sing about Birdland Ive wanted to go here - and I made it! It was everything I hoped for. Old school jazz club feel, and the musicians were amazing. I cant imagine a better group than Arturo OFarrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra for my first experience here. I cant wait to come back. -

We had reservations for Birdland to see the Freddy Cole Quartet on Saturday 13th July, the evening of the big power outage in Manhattan. We get to the club expecting the performance to be cancelled, but we’re allowed in.The club is dark, with only candles on each table providing light. Freddy Cole has been trapped in his hotel room – elevators are out – but his son Lionel is here, as is the rest of the band. Despite this, the show must go on, and they put on a truly atmospheric and memorable performance. -

Time square location is great to get to for those visiting. While this is not the original Birdland, the acts are quality and the sound is fantastic. We sat behind the bar and heard the group perfectly. Tip: if you want a good seat, get there early when they open. I couldnt see anything with my bar seat ticket as I got there about 15 minutes before showtime. Drinks are good, food was okay, service good and friendly. I had fun. -

My wife and I attended Saturday, October 2, 2021 5-6:30 PM for Eric Comstock with Sean Smith on Bass and special guest vocalist Barbara Fasano. We thoroughly enjoyed the music. This trio was fun, entertaining and delightful. The ambience at the Birdland Jazz club was quite romantic. Our food and drink selections were reasonable and very delicious. The bar and wait staff were prompt and attentive. This was the perfect pre-theatre venue that we needed.A funny sidenote, my wife had broken her shoe upon arrival. So after the show I had to return to our hotel to retrieve another pair of shoes for her. By the time I got back she had made new friends of the entertainers and the bar staff who asked me “where is your cape?” I guess because they had referred to me as a Superhero for flying to the hotel and back so fast. It just goes to show how wonderfully friendly and welcoming the people at the Birdland Jazz Club are! We will be back, this time with better shoes! -

This place absolutely made our NYC trip. We came in not knowing what to expect really. We were seated right at the front of the stage and the musicians were fantastic. We watched “Arturo O’Farrill & The Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble.” The vibe in there is almost magical when the music gets going. The servers were friendly and on top of things for how busy it gets in there. The venue was gorgeous, you felt like you were transported to a different era for the evening. We ordered a pasta dish and it was also excellent. The cover charge just for the show was a little bit expensive at $40 per person but WELL worth it. This was the highlight of our trip for sure, we couldn’t stop bringing it up for days afterwards. Check it out! -

Go for the music. Food was better than I expected after reading some reviews. Service was fantastic up to the point of my bill. Review carefully, which isnt easy in dark lit room. I ended up paying for drinks and deserts for some other table😞. With that said, the service and everything else was great. You have to buy tickets to get in, and purchase dinner. The dinner alone is reflected on my report. Ill go again. -

One of the highlights of our trip to NYC! The Birdland Big Band put on a wonderful show and the food and drinks were reasonably priced and delicious. We didnt feel cramped at all and had room to shift and relax after we finished our food to enjoy the show. This place is a piece of history in the NY jazz scene and continues to uphold a standard of music that Bird himself I am sure would approve of. -

Birdland Jazz Club, located off of W 44th, is a great place to see live jazz in Midtown!! The club itself has a great atmosphere, and the main floor has great views of the stage + performers (regardless of where you sit). The staff are kind & accommodating and the food is great, too. Try their Impossible Burger with vegan cheese & avocado (side of fries) and their guacamole appetizer. This is a nice spot, highly recommend!! -

Birdland Jazz was definitely the highlight of our very short New York trip! The Hot Sardines were absolutely amazing, they had such a fun and modern take on jazz that included a tap dancer. The vocalist had an absolutely enchanting voice. The servers were quick, considerate, and kind and you could really feel the history of the jazz bar through all the photos of the past entertainers around the walls. The seats are first come first served so arrive when the doors open to get nice front row seats. They make all the difference. Would definitely come again! -

I decided to take my sister to Birdland for her birthday and it’s a very nice place. The ambiance was great, the staff were awesome. Now, the food was a HUGE disappointment, we both ordered the Fried Chicken and it came with unseasoned potatoes and dry and very bland spinach. The band was great but it was kind of, for an older crowd in my opinion. I’m in my 50’s and my sister is 49 and neither of us, really enjoy 20’s & 30’s jazz/blues. I did enjoy, the music but they could have played something a bit current for this younger crowd that was there. I would definitely, go again when it’s not this old jazz/blues night. It’s also a bit pricey, so be prepared for that $20 per person drink or food items. -

Birdland is such a vibe! It is on the more expensive end but if you want to enjoy really great jazz you’ve got to go! The entire ambiance of the place is incredible. The walls are covered in photos of every jazz artist you can think of. It’s better to reserve a table than the bar, because you’ll actually be able to see the performers. Also, I’d recommend going early to line up before it starts so you can get a better seat. We showed up at 9:45 and doors opened at 10:00 for our 10:30 show, and we ended up at a table right in front! -

01/01/24: Amazing show by Greg Ruvolo big band (1h30), very professional & passionate musicians. Top-notch jazz club & atmosphere. Great cocktails (we have tried Cosmo & French 75) & desserts (peach cobbler & warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream). I have enjoyed each moment and had a wonderful time with my family. I came 15min before the doors’ opening (perfect timing) > I was able to choose any seat at the bar and the first ones are really close to the stage.Usually the show is 1 hour but this big band was generous enough to give us 30 additional minutes. It was a great way to start this new year! 🎶🎷✨👌🏼 -

The food was good and the drinks were great. The staff was so kind, some clients were not (two racist white women were seated near my spouse and I making comments throughout the show; were Latinos that came to enjoy the Afro-Latin Jazz band.)The seating was very tightly packed, so my spouse and I were just half a foot away from another couple.Overall the place was really great, I would definitely come back. -

One of my favorite jazz clubs. The foods are okay (for the $20 minimum per customer requirement). -

This may be the coolest place I’ve ever been to. Awesome band, food & service. Terrific value. Get there early to get a great seat (though all the seats are ok) -

If you’re looking for first class cabaret-style entertainment at a reasonable price, this landmark club is for you. This is an intimate place where the musicians are so close you can see what notes they’re playing on their instruments. There isn’t a bad seat in the house. And on top of that, the food is excellent. -

The atmosphere is amazing! Paid for a ticket but it seemed they let people in if the were extra seats after everyone arrived. Dinner and drinks were available, there is a minimum 20$ order requirement per seat which is easy to reach as the drinks are around ~15$ each. But dont let this dissuade you from coming. Amazing performers, dynamic interactions between performers and the crowd, and enjoyable for people who arent into Jazz.Great date location if youre looking for something romantic/fancy.
