You just found Manhattan’s best kept secret! We happened upon this bar wanting some chill vibes and to play couple rounds of pool. Walking in the atmosphere is extremely homey and welcoming. The decorations were awesome and we loved the big screens to watch football and the couches were insanely comfortable. They have great local brewery options on tap! We ended up playing some giant jenga and connect four as well.

This bar is a fantastic place to chill with friends, play games, and sip on some great drinks. The atmosphere and decor are incredible, and I cant get enough of it! Ive been looking for a venue to celebrate my birthday, and this spot is definitely a top contender.After enjoying some Kalbi at Loopys, I decided to drop by, and it turned out to be the perfect way to end a hearty meal. The drinks are well-priced, the music is great, and theres plenty of room to move around. I didnt get to sample the food, but I did order a frozen piña colada, and let me tell you, just one was enough to get me buzzed! I’m excited to return with my friends.

Pioneers Bar is a great place to congregate because it is equal parts social club, bar, and activity center. I recommend coming here before seeing an improv show at a venue close by, and making sure to enjoy the things they have there.While I sat down to do some homework, I noticed that patrons were playing board games, watching sports, and just generally having a good time. It was a laid back atmosphere, even though the menu has Manhattan prices. (Hey, you have to be able to pay the rent, right?)

A gorgeous, massive space that’s perfect for large groups, I had my birthday here two years in a row and it was a joy. Always a good selection of beer and ya gotta love a bar with popcorn.

This is by far one of the most chill places especially for after work drinks. Though close to midtown its unpretentious and draws in an eclectic crowd typically late 20s to mid 40s. Its got pin ball machines, videos games and other fun casual interactive games. Aside from the bar there are couches in the back for a more living room drinks type vibe.Every once in a while my friends and I get drinks/shots on the house, and definitely be sure to mention when its your Birthday.

Quiet crowd at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As a reminder, this is a cashless bar. Could see this place being busy later at night.

Ive been coming here for several years now, once a month on average, to meet up with friends and play tabletop games and its a perfect location for this. Their busy times are mostly weeknights, so weekend afternoons are laid back and theres no problem taking up a long table for several hours when 6 or 8 people are buying drinks while were playing.

We picked this place because our wedding anniversary and Pioneers founding date is 12-12-12 after researching nightlife in Manhattan. So we picked the DoubleTree next door and stayed in the penthouse. The staff was very hospitable and were thrilled that we literally planned a weeklong trip to NYC all the way from Missouri centered around our mutual anniversary date! This was our second time to the city (my 4th) and our whole week was themed as night life. Among the doors we stumbled into Superbowl week 2024 (CHIEFS!!!!!), Pioneers was one we found ourselves in more than once. It wasnt just its close proximity to our lodging, but how *good* it was overall. Im a through-and-through Missourian and its uncommon for us to be in packed bars with drinks being slung in record time, so seeing how little anyone had to wait for anything and how the staff just nodded at my amazed remarks as if to say this is actually a slow night really impressed me. Also how they actually tried to remember customers and carry on conversations right where they left off with anyone was equally impressive. This is definitely on that list of places we must return to every time we take another bite from the Big Apple and I hope both our marriage AND Pioneers years of operation are just as long, happy, rewarding, and fruitful as the other, at a minimum! Not really a place to meet girls at the bar as it is pretty tight and most of the space was given to the arcade area, BUT I may be wrong. First time there, there was a line, but waited it out because my buddy was having his bday gathering there. Inside was sorta packed, so the line made sense. Drinks were about nyc avg price. They have a bunch of pinball machines, a giant connect four game, giant jenga, pool table and foozball for your entertainment. Good times, downside was the bathroom situation, 2 unisex bathrooms where its one person at a time. Always a long line to use the restroom.

Its Always a good time with friends. The have a huge jinga set , huge connect 4, and a pinball machine, pool table, skee ball, and a ball toss but its called beer pong. So there are some cool things to do at this bar. Cant beat free popcorn.The music is a strange mix of almost everything. The last time i went it was a Thursday and the time before that had to be a friday or something cause they had a baseball game playing. The people are pretty chill for it to be midtown.Try it out you may like it

The old 80s style games- connect four, pinballs, foosball, jenga etc- make for a more fun time than yelling across the table trying to have a conversation in other bars. Its very manicured casual but it works. Drinks wont burn a hole in your wallet and you can get your own grub.

Pioneers of New York, meet the Pioneers Bar.A few blocks away from the FIT and the 1 line lies a lonely bar with pinball machines, alcohol, and the adult Jenga blocks.Mind you, I dont do many bar nights, but this one that I have gone to is much different than that of your sports bar, or your night club, or even your corner tavern. Pioneers is a small place to look at in the front, but delving in, you will find yourself a large playing ground for the inebriated, a comfortable couch or two, several tables for those who need to dine, and common entertainment such as the television or the music.The venue for the drinks, nothing special, nothing amazing. It doesnt have blue moon, period. I wouldnt really say, go for the the drinks and stay for the television, no this is more of a bar where you socialize and bring friends to socialize.Now, those adult Jenga blocks I mentioned, Its quite awesome. Do you remember building blocks in pre-school? You build one thing, another person builds another, and somewhere along the lines of building, you reach for the last piece and then you realize that person whos also building has more blocks? Well, what happens afterwards is similar, but rather than fighting and making up after nap time, you collaborate and have a drink instead. Its like making friends the way we used to. Oh, by the way, the blocks are actually huge, not those tiny tooth picks from Parker Brothers.The decor is nice, relax, and dark. It sets a suave mod, which is killed by the terrible music. Not all the time, just sometimes.Service is ok, theyre not bad, and not good. I am pretty neutral about these guys.Theres also a stage, so if you want to dance or sing, go for it! Just ask first.

One of my favorite bars in the city, I’ve taken anyone here from family to friends to dates, tons of games to partake in and the staff are great. Whatever they’re paying Austin and Mitch isn’t enough. Every time I’m here they make me feel right at home. Never a bad night at pioneers!
