I popped into The Canuck tonight, eh, and it was an absolute beauty of an experience! Right from the get-go, the place had that cozy, friendly vibe we Canadians are so proud of—like stepping into your best buddy’s living room, but with way better drinks. Now, let’s talk about Kevin, the bartender. What a legend, eh? This guy is the Wayne Gretzky of mixing drinks! I ordered a Shirley Temple, and no word of a lie, it was the most perfectly balanced Shirley Temple I’ve ever had. He put so much care into making it, you’d think he was crafting maple syrup in his spare time. What really stood out, though, was Kevin’s top-notch hospitality. He was as friendly as a neighbour shoveling your driveway after a snowstorm, and you could tell he genuinely loves what he does. The attention to detail, the warm smiles, and the “you’re part of the family” energy made the whole visit feel like a true Canadian experience. If you’re looking for a bar that serves up stellar service and good vibes as strong as a double-double, The Canuck is the spot for you. I’ll be back for sure—maybe I’ll even order a Caesar next time, eh? Go Canes!

Have been wanting to come here for a while and finally made it here while family was in town. Fantastic bar, fantastic service (complete with sarcasm) and amazing food too!! Had the pretzel and wings which were so so sooo yummy!!You can just tell its a local joint. Surrounded by incredible hockey memorabilia and lots of great stories, will absolutely be back!!

  • Review 3 (2024-12-28 - Rating: 5)

Hockey bar with real poutine, really good fries and an outstanding burger. Plus there’s hockey. Kevin was super accommodating and just an all around good dude. We will come back and you should come too. Not expensive, good beer menu, good food and a regular bar

  • Review 4 (2024-11-12 - Rating: 5)

My favorite sports bar in the city- food, service, and atmosphere all 5/5 stars. If there is a game you want to watch, the staff will go above and beyond to get it on a tv for you. The food is also great and I can say their buffalo wrap might be the best in the city. I always take my visitors here & will continue to do so since the staff is so welcoming and attentive. A must go especially if you’re a hockey fan!

  • Review 5 (2024-12-14 - Rating: 5)

Top 5 Bar in NYC, Top Hockey Bar in the Country. The only thing better than the decor and ability to watch every game each day is the staff. I highly recommend giving this spot a visit if youre in town or a resident and love the best sport in the world, hockey.

  • Review 6 (2024-08-17 - Rating: 4)

Loved the food. Loved the atmosphere. Loved the fact I could get canadian whiskey not normally imported. However, seemed to have difficult time trying to get bartenders attention for refills or just checking to see if we were satisfied with our order. Not looking to get catered to but this particular bartender send disinterested in us as customers. More interested in his phone than service.

  • Review 7 (2024-12-28 - Rating: 5)

Kevin served me cold beer and sat me down right in front of the NHL game I wanted to watch. Didnt order food but the menu looked good and reasonably priced.

  • Review 8 (2022-11-28 - Rating: 5)

Just moved a block away from this bar and finally came to check it out on a Sunday night. They had a few healthy food options on the menu. I tried the grilled chicken cedar salad and it was delicious, big and reasonably priced. My friends and I started talking to the bartender and he was so sweet! I liked the overall chill vibe of this place, but also saw some videos on their story on insta and it could get pretty busy during games. I will definitely come back!

  • Review 9 (2024-02-07 - Rating: 4)

Was looking forward to checking this place out and went yesterday before the Ranger game. The atmosphere is great and my GF commented how pleasant the ladies room was. Our bartender/server was very nice and attentive although I think she might have been new since it took her a little bit of time to enter our food order (no worries at all). I will say I did find the food a little disappointing. I got the spicy chicken sandwich and honestly it was not spicy at all and just very plain. My GF thought the same about her grilled chicken sandwich. Nothing special. I would be happy to try the wings and other apps next time I go and there will be a next time for sure.

  • Review 10 (2024-12-24 - Rating: 5)

Great spot to watch a hockey game and some of the best bartenders in NYC with solid bar food.

  • Review 11 (2024-01-25 - Rating: 5)

Me and my husband went here and watched a hockey game. We ordered the poutine and the bbq chicken wings which is fantastic (I ate all the 12 wings) lol. The atmosphere is very canadian. We are surprised to see lots of people inside at 10pm on a weekday.

  • Review 12 (2022-11-02 - Rating: 5)

Great Staff and Regulars! Many are Canadian! If you go you have to try the Poutine (French-Candian fries and gravy and cheese - as good as anything in Canada!!) As a Canuck in New York, I was told to check it out and it didnt disappoint- Hockey Night in Canada on a Saturday nights and Canadian beer!

  • Review 13 (2024-11-11 - Rating: 5)

The Canuck is a gem in Chelsea. Great place for drinks, food, music or a game on the plentiful TVs. The staff is attentive, friendly and keep the fun factor up. Bonus points if you are Canadian and can put a name to the faces on their Wall of Fame. This place rocks. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 5 out of 5 devil horns.

  • Review 14 (2024-12-11 - Rating: 5)

As a Canadian in New York, I felt completely at home. The Poutine is delicious, and they have a great selection of drinks.

  • Review 15 (2024-06-03 - Rating: 5)

I absolutely love this bar. As a Canadian living in NYC, this is on of my favourite spots to hang out, meet people that are fun to talk to, and watch hockey. All of the art on the wall are pure nostalgia for me, and whenever I have Canadian friends that are visiting New York City, I am sure to bring them here. The staff is incredibly friendly. On my most recent visit, the bartender Chloe was so kind and funny. She had no idea of the origin of the Nanaimo bar - glad that I was able to clear it up.

  • Review 16 (2025-01-03 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 21 (2023-08-03 - Rating: 5)

I was visiting from Vancouver and I was told about this place from a local. Wow, just wow! A great, Canadian atmosphere that made me feel like I was back home. The bartenders and servers were very friendly, and definitely care about their customers. They remember you (I loved being here so much I even came a second time) as I saw other regular customers and locals being called by their first names. I enjoyed talking to everyone and it was such a welcoming place. Their food was delicious as well and I enjoyed having some Canadian drinks and beers. Thank you everyone for such a wonderful experience. Ill definitely be back. ❤️🇨🇦

  • Review 26 (2024-12-16 - Rating: 5)

In life you stumble across places where you feel home. While I’m not Canadian, nor do I understand many of the rules of Hockey. The Canuck is hands down the best winter bar in Manhattan. The place is clean and well run, the customers and staff are polite and nice. The drinks are fair priced and well poured. And the food is classic bar food that is very well done.Just Go here. Find a table. Get the Jumbo Tots.Watch hockey. Place a bet on hockey. Lose that bet. Order a Guinness. Place another bet. Lose that bet. Get a shot and a beer for $10. Get the whole table to bet on a random game. Win that bet. Buy beers for the table. Get the Jumbo tots again. Enjoy the day. Long live the Canuck.

  • Review 27 (2024-12-28 - Rating: 5)

Kevin made me feel right at home! They are so cheerful and kind. Wishing this place a happy new year and a fun filled 2025!

As a hockey fan, I absolutely love tying one on a few times a week with my boys. If that’s what you’re looking for the Canuck is a great spot. It’s also a great spot to take the wife and kids on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon before it gets too busy. My sister has a crush on JT.

  • Review 35 (2023-11-13 - Rating: 5)

As a Canadian who visiting the city fur a few days , I felt I needed to check this out. First of all it’s very clean and inviting. The service was amazing. Food and drink prices were fair. Highly recommend checking this place out. Poutine isn’t the best ever but a great alternative in a poutine free city like New York

  • Review 36 (2024-12-29 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 37 (2023-05-05 - Rating: 5)

Absolute friendliest place to be on game night, and the best place you could hope to lose your wallet! Thanks to Rebecca’s keen eye, I was saved the nightmare of having to cancel every card I have. Thanks to the Canuck and every excellent person working there (food is excellent too!)

  • Review 38 (2023-11-27 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 39 (2024-11-17 - Rating: 5)

Where do I begin. The Canuck is one of the best bars in the city- food, staff, vibes are all 10/10. The place is covered in TVs so if you’re looking to watch a certain game they’ve got you covered. Never a bad time here!

  • Review 40 (2024-11-10 - Rating: 5)

This bar is a great spot!! Been a few times with friends for a casual night, love that it’s fun and unpretentious. The food is great, my favs are the poutine and wings. They have a shot ski too should you want to get into that! Atmosphere is awesome, tons of hockey memorabilia, but my favorite is the wall of famous Canadians by the bar. Ladies bathroom is very clean. Staff is friendly, always had a good experience and the manager Jason is great!! I’m always looking for a go-to bar that’s casual and consistent and this one always comes through, will continue to come back!!

  • Review 41 (2024-12-24 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 42 (2024-11-11 - Rating: 5)

Awesome Place! Amazing Service and Food. So clean (especially for a sports bar). NYC needed this. And, my Canadian husband loves it here.

  • Review 43 (2024-11-11 - Rating: 5)

Tator tots rock. Get em. Jason and others behind the bar always there ready for you. Get the merchandise. You won’t be disappointed at the Canuck especially if you’re a hockey player and come after the game. They have equipment storage for you.

  • Review 45 (2023-10-24 - Rating: 5)

Probably the best hockey bar in Manhattan (not a rangers bar). I’m from Minnesota originally and this place makes me feel like I’m up north. Love the vibes, good priced beers, good food.

  • Review 46 (2024-12-07 - Rating: 5)

Amazing experience for us like tourists from Czechia and hockey fans. Every hockey fan in NYC should visit this place.

  • Review 47 (2024-08-19 - Rating: 5)

Has become one of my go-to places. Although Im not a hockey fan I frequently come to this place for a basic sandwich and a beer. Good price and quick service. I absolutely love the Sunday Irish breakfast. 30% cheaper than the diner around the corner and has double the bacon and sausage. Fantastic value these in inflationary times.

Great spot, great wings/poutine, AMAZING memorabilia on the walls, and nice Canadian crowd. Sadly, I’m docking a star for being under staffed and double charging us on more than one occasion - needs to get a little more organized. I get it…they’re 6 months in but…still.

We visited NYC for our 50ths and being a Canadian living in the UK, I searched for a sports bar (ideally Canadian themed), to visit and catch some hockey/ baseball this April. I found The Canuck and made plans for a Saturday night to catch my Leafs play on Hockey Night in Canada! I was so impressed with the look and vibe of The Canuck, it really felt like I was back in Canada on Hockey Night! Great atmosphere, great food, great service and a friendly crowd. I cant rate this highly enough! Love it!!!

  • Review 112 (2023-05-12 - Rating: 4)

Cool bar, great for hockey fans. Would have been 5 stars but when I paid $10 cash for a $6 beer I was given $2 back instead of 2 and change. The tax on a 6 buck beer is 52 cents. Its silly and small but that irked me. The spot wasnt busy, and it was weird to get punished for paying with cash over card. Why assume Im cool with paying an extra 48 cents for no reason?

The bar itself and staff are great, but what separates The Canuck from the rest is it has the best women’s bathroom in nyc. All of my stresses are gone when I walk into that bathroom and I find myself at peace. Everyone should visit The Canuck

  • Review 117 (2023-04-25 - Rating: 5)

Probably the best sports bar in NYC

Such a great, fun, local bar - welcoming, good food, good drink selection, just all around very well done. I’d highly recommend it!

  • Review 122 (2021-12-28 - Rating: 5)

Great addition to NYC bar scene! The bar is very well put together and there’s always something eye-catching on the walls. Food is excellent - personally, I enjoyed the wings - and there’s a really solid selection of beers and drinks. Our server was super helpful and answered all of our questions. Overall, a great experience and will be back soon!

The Canuck is awesome. Some of the best bar food in the city. You have to try the poutine! My favorite burger in the city is the Shay…another must. Games are always on and there isn’t a bad spot in the entire bar to see a TV. You may see some Canadian celebrities stop by too…

When trying to nurse a hangover, and avoid an hour long choir concert at church I stumbled into the most polite bar in nyc. While I failed to go to church and save my soul, I was able to enrich my mind and liver. I learned wonderful things like- roddy roddy piper is Canadian- I can order puppers cans- all sorts of hockey facts. While I may be the only one in my friend group now going to hell, Zach and Sam made the prospect of eternal torment worth it.New Favorite Bar

Stumbled on this spot while wandering from the high line. Super fun, bartenders were awesome and made us feel right at home. Def gonna be back, looked like a killer sports venue.

  • Review 131 (2022-09-25 - Rating: 5)

I noticed this place on a walk and decided to hop in. What I was not expecting from this sports bar was their delicious yums; the eggplant parm sandwich was an absolute banger. The pulled pork was made to perfection! The pesto toast was to die for! Service is quick and easy, zero hassle with intermittent check in and I enjoyed the my night. Sports bars tend to be loud, so make sure youre ready for that aspect or take a quick break on the outside tables for a breather. I enjoyed my experience, I will definitely be back again for the menu! They made me happy dance the whole meal!

Michaela was a wonderful server while we had beers while watching hockey at the canuck for the 1,048th time. I had the poutine which reminded me of montreal. And the canadian beer selection here kept us going all night. I highly recommend the canuck for beer hockey and just an overall good time.
